Finally, Bada 2.0.1 "Internals" menu gives access to GPS settings! - Bada Software and Hacking General

Guys, I found the way to mess with the GPS settings, exactly the way we do in Bada 1.2!
//Note that the following works in Bada 2.0.1 XPKH3, and I don't guarantee that it will DEFINATELY work in the future Bada 2.0.1 betas, or final.\\
1) Enter keypad and dial *#7092463*# --> this gives you access to "Internals" menu.
-- In this menu, you can edit and test a lot of things, but always use with caution and LOGIC Also, you may want to save this code without the last "#" as a favorite contact, then load the code on the dial screen and thus entering the Internals menu without having to type it from scratch every time
2) Go to "4-Module Setting"-->"4-COMM"-->"2-Lbs"
3) Here, options:
1 Tracking Test--> This is the classic GPS signal lock test.
2 TTFF Test--> "Time To First Fix Test"- a sub-test aimed at responsiveness.
3 H/W Test--> NOT GPS signal locking test. Sensitivity & CNO test here only.
4 Settings--> (See below)
5 Delete GPS Data--> (you know what this is for, don't you?)
6 Debug Tools--> (maybe devs have interest in this)
:4 Settings options:
1 General Settings--> similar to "Application settings" in Bada 1.2, here you can actually mess with settings anyway you want.
GPS+ AutoDownload: when enabled uses your packet data or WiFi for updating the satellite files
Accuracy: by default 1000, I haven't yet tested whether a smaller value (ie. 500) produces better results.
Cold Start: I don't know what this is, maybe (IMO) it makes the GPS try to lock without using the sat files.
2 SUPL Setting--> I couldn't get into this option. Here normally would be the server that the a-GPS function downloads the sat files from.
3 H/W Setting--> I wouldn't mess with numbers here. It has something to do with tests though.
4 Set to Defatult [it means default ]--> (i guess you know this one)
5 Assist Method--> only change the method here in case someone creates a guide and commands you to do so. Normally you don't need to change this.
6 Network Profile--> You can't change from here, but that's OK, this setting can be controlled from Main Menu-->"Settings"-->"Network"-->"Application profiles"-->"Location"/"Navigation"
7 Etc Setting--> If you don't know what to do here, don't change anything.
Hope you have fun messing with the settings! Feel free to share any new discoveries, and by all means, maybe a set of settings that you find better than the default ones!

Know about that im waiting for Bada 2 thank you !!!
Cold start and Auto Download maybe nice thing for now if you want more change you need before set Assit mod on AGPS then you see more setting you can change like server adress...When yous changed it you reback to GPS+ mode
General Set : A-GPS UP BASED
Suupl SET :google server on server custom and google ip... port its same
You can grap GPS like maxi 40sec

change Adress
to
supl.google.com
and the port to 7262
reboot phone and then reply to GPS+ and reboot once again

For a detailed information on the GPS Settings above, you can refer to this thread: http://www.badaturkiye.com/showthread.php/bada-2-0-2690.html?

Another way to access the gps menu is by dialing *#3214789650#
BTW - IMHO the GPS works a treat in PKH2 but not in PKH3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17005437&postcount=104
It appears that setting the port to 7262 doesn't work in PKH3 either :-(
Hmm... Tigrouzen, your gps mode is interesting... Standalone doesn't work for me... Neither does MS Based... I'll try UP Based...
I think that SFR have better location support than Bouygues... I'll post here after testing.
Update: nope... UP Based makes no difference to me. :-( it's non assisted GPS every time for me... PKH3 = borked A-GPS

WakeAndShake utility for PC wakeup / shutdown

Little utility for waking up / shutting down / rebooting or Logging off from the PC's on your network via you wm device.
Requirements;
# Wifi active on wm and connected on same local network as PC's
# Wake-On-Lan enabled on PC's
# allow http traffic on Port 7777
# obtain MAC Address for all PC's you wish to 'control'
# Multi form factor - check CAB name for correct version for your device
1. Install cab on device
2. Install the service via the msi installer on any PC's you wish to 'control'
3. Edit the WakeAndShakeConfig.xml on the device OR use the settings screen from within the app - enter your PC's IP addresses (or host name) and their corresponding MAC addresses.
09/02/2010 - Settings screen added (still needs some tweaking, a few navigation bugs)
Any Q's shout.
If you find this useful & wish to donate please see my sig button.

added QVGA cab - see post #1
updated the PC service - if user cancels shutdown subsequent shutdown requests will now be triggered
Hi dt_matthews,
it will be very amazing was it possible to skin it for DUSK.
I have seen the screenshot and i was thinking is this something what be possible in a future version?
added IP address to settings xml and config, this is required if your PPC doesnt have regsitry entries mimicking hosts file lookup, ip address will be shown in the machine drop-down list along with the machine name
added IP address to xml and to settings screen - this is required for PPC's that dont have registry entries which mimic hosts file lookups, these IP's are displayed in the machine dropdown along with the machine name
Been waiting for an app like this
To bad I can't get the settings screen to work, it won't save the data I type in to the host, ip and mac fields.
And the xml file is clean except from the settings tag so I don't know how to modify the parameters
Please help...
HTML:
<settings><machine name="machineName1" mac="071EB93CAD68" ip="192.168.1.87"/><machine name="machineName2" mac="0219DDAFC6B3" ip="192.168.1.85"/><machine name="machineName3" mac="001A437AA515" ip="192.168.1.65"/></settings>
This is a sample of a valid version of the xnml config. Just obviously change the name tags, the mac and the IP addresses to match your machines. then run the service installer on your machines and the cab on your device and you should be fine.
shout if its not clear
cheers,
dan

that is as designed, its an http listener which wont be show as actively 'doing' anything by svchost.exe [service manager]. as long as you are connected to the same network (and workgroup) it should be ok. let me know
i've tried this on two machines now. on one of them it won't work at all. on the other i got it to reboot ones. but know it doesn't work anymore.
on both machines windows reports application error on shutdownpcservice.exe and wants to send an error report to microsoft.
in the application log (under computer managment) i used to see how the shutdownservice started to listen to port 7777, but not anymore. it's like it not running.
i've tried to reinstall the program but that didn't do it.
thanks for your effort Dan

hey dude,
i've updated the service installer (see post #1) - uninstall the last version (make sure the service is uninstalled fully, you may need to uninstall it from the cmd line if it wont uninstall via the GUI) then install the new version, that is the version i am running without problems, let me know how you get on, happy to help with any tweaking ;-)
Can this be used to put the PC to sleep (into standby) rather than shutdown? If not, could this feature be added?
Windows cmd line doesnt support sleep, but there is an alternative i could use (i think), but i cant do it straight away since my pc with the code on has just given up the ghost and it'll be a bit of time till i can get the data off it, but let me know if you can wait and i'll do it as soona s i can.

[Android] KaiserDroid eclair 2.1 WIFI, GPS NAND/HaRET also for Vogue, Polaris Beta1.1

First off this would not be possible without the work of many devs in many places. Some of the builds that have really helped get this done:
The base build I started with:
[Android] Eclair 2.1 by mssmison
Builds/Devs that helped me get this far:
polymod 2.1 alpha 4 by polyrhythmic that is itself is based on openeclair 1.1.5
dzo, wesgarner, ctso, many more who have contributed to openeclair
Please try both of these and My build and post your results, I want to know what works and what doesn't. It also will help to know what works better on whose build.
Here it is folks Android running from NAND on your kaiser/tilt!
What works:
WIFI - you no longer need a calibration file from Windows Mobile.
GPS
Phone
Sleep
Battery - See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5695425&postcount=126
What doesn't:
Bluetooth? I have random results still
Camera
Youtube
Jbed - read thread for working install and instructions
I am in no way liable for whatever may happen to you or your phone!
This will erase/replace windows mobile.
How to get it:
Step one:
If you do not have the latest nbh get dzo's from here:
http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/files/?C=M;O=D
or vilord's
http://sourceforge.net/projects/androidhtc/files/
and flash it to your phone.
Step two:
Perform a hard reset on the phone, then remove the battery.
Step three:
Download my package and place the androidinstall.tar in the andboot folder on the root of your sd card.
Old link for reference only -Version 1.0
Old link for reference only -Version 1.1 Update Patch
Pre-Patched Version 1.1
Place your sd card in your phone put the battery back in and power it on.
Watch the screen and once it tells you to press and hold the D-Pad center button (do it fast!).
Choose the install option and answer "Yes" when it asks to clear your data.
Step four:
Choose quit and wait for the big green android!
If you get a second google account setup screen after entering your info once just hit the home button or reboot.
*notes*
Starting wifi during the initial setup works but the setup app FC's and goes back to the start wifi screen. The wifi actually does start but you cannot choose a network until you complete setup.
You must have a sd card to boot (not with vilord's kernel)
LCD density is set to 160 as I believe with a 320x480 nbh yields the best usability and market selection.
I the screen flips the wrong way instead of going back to portrait mode open "spare parts" and uncheck "launcher rotation"
(you can also go to Settings "Sound and Display" and uncheck Orientation")
(Works on polaris and vogue as well)

Thanks got it fixed, let me know how it goes.
Just got it setup, some things I've noticed so far:
Setup Wizard got stuck in an infinite loop right after setting up my Google Account. It signed me in, started syncing just fine, but the next screen asked me to setup a Google Account again. Signing in led me to another Google Account setup page. A reboot fixes this though.
Might want to note that your build.prop has the lcd.density set to 160, most NAND builds I've ran have had it set to 120 or 113 or had a choice.
So far it's been a lot faster than other Eclair builds I've tried! Awesome work!

I don't normally have a sim in until after I get it setup and tested so I just skip the initial setup so i must have missed that.
How does the speed of this build compare to polyrhythmic's? I tried that and unfortunately it was unbearably slow even off NAND. I guess it's back to WinMo for a little while

Sorry, that would be a no for right now. Anybody got any tips? I'll update the 1st post.
Which nbh to use?
Ho do I know which .nbh file to use? There are so many of them.
For instance:
kaisimg-panel2-320-15-02-10.nbh
kaisimg-panel1-320-tilt-15-02-10.nbhWhat is the difference between the two?
What does the following stand for:
The panel2 and panel1
320 or 480
You get the picture... Basically - how do I know which one fits my device?
Thanks,
Eran

#1 check a default.txt that you used in the past to see what your panel type is, nobody can tell you what you have. I have a tilt and use panel 2. You may need to pick one and try, if the colors are messed up, try another
#2 the 320 is a resolution of 240X320 and the 480 is a resolution of 320X480
I always use the 320X480; then edit the /system/build.prop file to make the lcd.density 160; makes it close to 240X320 but you get all of the market apps
@ slm4996 any chance of getting this as a HaRET compatable? I have some programs that require I have windows, so I can't NAND now; and I would like to try this one out
INT Maps Navigation
I check your tar and i notice tha inside app folder there isn't Google Maps, Nav launcher and so on, it's possible to add it manually, importing the right apks inside the folder, and if it's possible where i can find the apks?
P.s. Your old build is great, as soon as my phone return from repairing, I will be glad to try this new baby...
Can I run this build from SD card?

Unless you are across the big pond google maps should install from the Market. Navstarter I can look into.
Inclusion/removal of apps?
Should I add or remove any apps out of the default build?
So far we have requests for:
Google maps
Navstarter
I'm not sure how I feel about including maps since it can be downloaded from the Market on this build...

My intention is to have the modiefied version of Google Maps with Nav launcher, 'cause I'm from Italy and in Europe Google Maps don't have the navigation enabled, we must use maps4.0.0-brut4.apk to enable it.
I have tried to put it insiede your old build but without success, it doesn't let me install the needed file to get it working, maybe i forget to put something else needed...i'll try with the new one as soon as possible....
The files that i'm writing about are inside OptionalApps pack of last poly builds...

[APP] LocationAware v0.3, PCBuddy {14th April 2010}

Location Aware is an automatic volume profile switcher.
This application works out of the data received from GSM signals.(NO CDMA)
so almost all windows mobile devices can use it.I developed it on my elf and it seems it is working
Requires GSM network, Windows Mobile , .Net CF 3.5
1. Battery Friendly, No active background process.
2. No GPS needed.
3. User configurable interval to check for location.
4. Can save settings automatically v0.3
Well it works like this: (May change per version)
1. Install it.
2. Open the Location Aware(from programs)
3. When ever you start the app it will vibrate the device 2 times and then asks "Add this Location".
4. Click OK and it prompts to save the volume level for this location and save.
5. Adjust the volume level as you desire from the Slider on right hand side of screen.
6. Then goto Menu and Save Location Mode, this should save the setting for this location(Prompt will be displayed).
7. Now you can let the application run itself every X mins to check for new location and prompt you whenever a new location is found.
8. To set the interval time goto Menu -> "Stopped" this should open up a panel to enter the interval time, fill it and click set. "Stopped" should be changed to "Running". Now you can Exit.
9. If prompt is not dismissed or OKayed within 1 min(Automode). It dismisses itself and will prompt again if new location is found after next X mins.
10. The limit for interval is 2-60 mins, that means the app will run itself after every X mins and check for location, if a new location is found it vibrates
and then asks you to save this location or not, in case you dont respond to it, it will close itself after 1 min.
and in case the location was already saved it will automatically apply the volume profile.
Basically as you keep on using it the database keeps on growing and in parallel profile settings gets more customized.
PS: You may notice that the taskbar volume indicator is not changed, but that is normal. The volume setting is still applied as per your choice this issue is fixed in v0.3
V0.2
1. No alert popup will be displayed to inform select n save the location.
2. Save the location mode directly by clicking the volume level image.
v0.3
1. Reflect the volume level changes in the taskbar volume icon
2. New mode added "AutoSave", enabling it makes the app save new location automatically with the last volume preference, whenever a new location is found.
PS. AutoSave mode works in Scheduled mode, if you have set the app to run after a scheduled interval with autosave mode enabled and it detects a new location it will prompt a message-box, if you don't give it a response i.e ignore it, it will add the location automatically after 1 min and will dismiss itself.
for users of previous versions:
It will use the already existing database of location settings, just install it over the previous version.
PCBuddy
This app is used to plot all the collected points by the location aware app on google maps.
Unzip the files and then copy the locations.db file from your device to the same folder on your system. Once the file has been copied Run CreateMap.exe this should generate a html file in the same folder. Run that and see for yourself
Please replace the dll in PCBuddy with the one in 64Bit.zip in case you are using a 64Bit Windows
Suggested setting:
For the first time I suggest to keep the interval at around 5 mins so that it can grab almost all the desired locations. once you feel it is having settings for your daily use u may turn the interval to a higher(suggested 15 mins) so that it can apply the volume settings for the known locations.

Great idea !
By using GSM signal to get your position you avoid to use the gps which take more time to get position + a little battery consumption.
We certainly can find a lot of functions linked to this automatic profile/location system
I will try your app

Just saw your P.S. that the volume icon will not change accordingly...but it works as intended. (Please Fix) Is there a radius on the set locations? I work across the street from our main mall, is why I ask.
I love this concept as I saw the other O.S. had a similar app. (Sweet Dreams)

Hi djyosnow,
understood your concerns about the radius thing but thaz not in myhands as that thing is dependent on lot of factors like, your disance from tower, signal strength etc. But still you may experiment if you get new location alert in case you are at your office.

Re mohitsapru,
i tested your app on my HD, it worked well
I have one suggestion to ease the way we can use it, an option like 'Save the actual sound profile automatically when a new unknown position is found'
Then we can move without thinking about it but it will be good as an enabled/disabled option.
Good job !

Does this app able to detect the change of location if the device switched off(suspended) by power button?
For example:
1. Save volume setting at location A and location B
2. At location A, press power button to turn off the device
3. Move the device from location A to location B
4. Will the volume be changed automatically (without turning on the device) at location B?

Thanks MG,
Do let me know of your suggestions and experience using it.
Thanks,
Mohit
I have run it on my Samsung I900 Omnia and i think it works perfect.
But here some ideas:
It would be great if you can add 2 or more cells to 1 location (Because i have here to cells at home, and if I use UMTS 3G i had another one)
If you write the cell id a little bit greater.
And expert mode were you add name for cells (i see this wish earlier here, too), and can add more things.

i will release next version in next few days. will be fixing few bugs i found in cidr calc which crashes when changed the mask., about screen is not coded yet, less important. .
If you have any request then do let me know.
working good, maybe need to have some ipv6 stuff
because next gen ip will be ipv6
im suggest
ipv6 ip class / unicast / multicast
ipv6 subnet calculator
maybe in the future also, mobile phone will have ipv6 tunnel client !!
so that , we can use ipv6 mobile number portability
will love it
thanks
put some network scanner, port scanner and wireless radar make it a network auditing tool like retina and netstumbler
that would be awesome!
i wish i could help in "technical" way

Port scanner will be part of it, but not yet developed but will be done.
Cant say about rest at this point.
Thanks.
Ping Not Working Properly
Ping only works fine for the first time. It requires application restart to make it work. I'm using HTC HD2.
Suggestion: More network commands such as TRACERT, TELNET etc.

That was the bug in Ping which was identified, and will be fixed, already resolved in development, should patch it in next release.
Tracert/telnet good idea.
will try to include them in my todolist.
thanks.
great tool,
could have used such a useful tool during my aprenticeship.
settings --> exit is not working on my hd2
Sweet will try it soon my device won't install cab now.will look into it
Tried it, loved it. I always have problems calculating Class B IPs and I was hoping for one for my HD2 when I saw an Android version. I think it'll be better if there's support for IPv6 as well. Also, I used it for a while and found out the tool lagged about 1 to 2 second when switching to another menu, I'm still okay with that though.

Yes there is a big lag sometimes but not always, will try to take a look in deep and fix/optimize it.
thanks.

[Q] App that logs which apps are using GPS and how much?

Hey all,
My company is developing a GPS app which I am being a lab rat for and testing on my SGS2, for some reason it is keeping the GPS on way too long but I wanted to log how much the app is actually turning it on. Are there any monitoring apps out there that log GPS usage in the same way as CPU/Data watchdogs do per app?
Thanks
Russ
Im actually interested in this too...
Fancy Widgets is set not to use GPS yet it still seems to have my GPS on a lot of the time

indirectly by showing the wakelock caused by location service: BetterBatteryStats
is this what youre looking for ?
Hi there
I came across your post sometimes ago.
Now I was looking deeply in my system files to tweak something not related at all to GPS. And found erratically a config file related to the internal GPS
Am I smart ...I remembered your post and think this is for you :
But you have to get your hands dirty a little
The file path is system/etc/sirfgps.conf
the file is easily understandable with comments at the begining
as I understand you can enable GPS logging and choose the log filename.
You will find a line:
#DEBUGGING_FILES : 0 - no log file, 1 - log files enabled
and at the end
LOG_PATH=/sdcard/gps/csr
This is where the log file should be, if you enabled logging with the line
DEBUGGING_FILES=1
- and you can modify to whatever path you like
Was it that simple !
Well I have not tested it but it should work. no sure though, but I think your phone should be rooted or it could be done with adb....
And last important thing, you must mount the system folder rw before any change otherwise... Well you know...
Tell me if that was useful to you and your project...
Or just push the thanks button
