my phone keeps offering me the ef02 to ef10 modem update regardless of the version my phone is on. I odined my phone back to eb13 without the sd card in (after clicking the reformat tab in odin) and it still offered the update. what gives?

I used Titanium to freeze system update to stop that. There is a command to run from SU but not sure what it is. I saw it in another post but couldn't find it.

Download terminal emulator, then type
su
disable pm com.samsung
I tried this disable command through a shell and it gave me an unknown command error. Is that the right syntax?

Not quite. It's:
Code:
su
pm disable com.samsung
I made a small thread about it with a shortcut patch.
As a heads up, I freeze all the services listed in RandomKing's thread with Titanium and it really helps with battery life. Highly recommend you freeze them with an external tool or apply his patch through CWM.
Same issue being spoke of in several threads. Perhaps an error on sprint's end.

Flashed your script from that thread! worked perfect! Thanks!
is there another possible way to do this on a unroot stock rom :?
To get rid of the message on ec05 (syndicate fro 1.2) at least i just installed it and then re flashed the ee03 modem (any modem will work) through odin. Haven't seen the update screen since! P.S this works because all the update does is update the modem!
And since odin and flashing are involved i feel the need to add this:
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or the current economic crisis. Please do some research if you have any concerns about odin or this process before doing this! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
Sorry for the big font its an attention grabber!

I had previously been running the EF02 leak with EF10 modem, but I decided to go back to Froyo (EC05). but now every time I reboot my phone I get the whole EF10 to EF02 firmware upgrade. I have tried every suggestion in this thread and none of them has worked. Does anyone have any other ideas other than freezing the service? I would like to get rid of this without that.

I have tired flashing the EE03 modem and the EC05 modem multiple times for each. Nothing works, I have tired every single persons "fix" in this thread and others and none of them work for me. I ended up just freezing the service but I'm worried that this behavior is somehow tied to my account, and that it will screw up future things.
I am currently running stock srf 1.2...downloaded metamorph...it prompted me to download busybox...i did...i downloaded the same one by the guy who made metamorph...looking at qbking video...it didnt take long before his phone rebooted..mine will not...and i noticed he didnt say anything about busybox or a kernel. Can someone let me know what im doing wrong...?
Hmmm...now that i think about it....do i need a theme first??
A theme is not needed. I managed to use metamorph to add the 'Fold' transition animation. Root/busybox is needed. I'm not sure when exactly I got busybox; been following qbking's vids from installing EC05 then flashing SRF 1.2 and Genocide Kernel. Somewhere along the line I got it.

Hey guys, I know there are maybe a couple of threads on this but didn't know what exactly to search, but every since I rooted my phone.. When ever the phone is sleep, I missed alot of important calls.. And receive texts when i wake phone, I had no knowledge of this bug before rooting... Just wondering if there's some type of work around..
Thanks
Did you flash your modem in Odin by chance? Go to Settings > About phone ... what is your Baseband version?
My baseband is EG12, but i dont recall flashing my modem.. I'm completely sure I didnt
eg12 is known to have this issue, I have this issue along with MANY MANY MANY others... this phone has too many issues, i have to restart my phone 5+ times a day because it wont receive/send texts and phone calls, freaking lame!

I read on another forum that there is a radio EG30 that supposedly fixes this issue.. I also don't recall experiencing this before root, but i know most of us flashed from a .tar to gain root.. So is it safe to say that them tars have flashed our modem to... Or maybe alter something that render these problems
I didn't think it was possible to flash your modem, unless you check the MODEM box in Odin, click the MODEM button and flash a file to it. This should not have happened to you if you used the PDA box like you should have to root your phone.
So you either goofed using Odin or somehow there's a way to flash your modem while flashing a rooted kernel. What exact steps did you take and what kernel did you use to root your phone?
I follow the exact steps found in qbking77 video to rooting.. Which yu can see here

Did you flash the PIT file like qbking does in the video, but not see the video comments added that says NOT to flash the PIT file?
Yes I seen that, but I didn't flash the pit file, I only flashed the tar file..

Then sorry man I'm at a loss. If you flashed that TAR under PDA in Odin, then it should not have touched your baseband. Unless there's something in that TAR that flashes the modem. I didn't think that was possible though.
Well anyhoo .. update your Profile and PRL and see if it keeps happening. Doing this could fix the no calls/texts issue for you. Good luck!

I have/had the same problem, what I did I restored my entire system using a tar file that unrooted and flashed everything back how I initially got the phone. I pretty much started from scratch again and rooted again and did my thing. I still haave baseband eg12 but i was able to update profile and my prl. As of 10 hours of doing so i have not had the same problem YET. I would give it a shot, just might help.

Yeah that data collection you're doing is great mjcollum. Still doesn't explain how this guy ended up with EG12 though.
don't know about flashing from a .tar but one of the older kernels
i want to say it was one of the zedomax ones but don't hold me to that. would flash eg12 if installed from a zip in cwm. i'll take a peek and see what i can see.
you could try extracting the tar you used to flash to get root and seing if there is a modem.bin in it though.
the only modem.bin available is the eg12 one so if there is one thats where it came from.
I tried that bro.. No luck at all.. Is there like a stock tar that I can flash that could fix this?
currently there is no way to get eg30 back.
however there are some things you can do to help the situation.
check out the thread i posted a few minutes ago ...
the biggest things i have found to make a difference are
make sure your not underclocked.
try a few different kernels.
failing that i've seen some success depending on rom/kernel combo it doesn't seem to be any one kernel that works for everyone with this problem.
i'm currently running starburst 1.8 with the exp kernel that comes with it and as long as i don't underclock the min cpu it's fine.
some of my tests show the stock eg-30 filesystem and kernel seem to work well also.
some would say it's not an eg12 modem issue but then again i have only one report of it happening on eg30 and even then it didnt happen every time.
the stock kernel is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1273647 you may try that first
and a completely stock filesystem with kernel is here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282420
erp one more thing remember to update prl and profile then reboot after flashing. seems to make a large difference

It is most unusual that the stock EG30 modem isn't available to flash which is why so many people are trying everything possible to get it

yea they seem to go out of their way specifically to prevent you from pulling modem drivers for some reason. seems to only be an issue with cdma devices.

Yeah I even emailed samsung asking for it, not holding my breath though
Ok to start off.. I'm not totally new to MTD.. Ive been learning. Anyhow I'm currently running CM7 Nightly 39 perfectly. When I would go to flash CM9 My phone never boots it just boot-loops twice and boots back into CWM That boot logo doesn't even come up -.-
Also Yes I have odined back to stock.. I tried to do it with EC05 - EI22 - EL30 Nothing same result. Yes I also used victory_8G_100528 In the PIT and put SPH-D700-EC05-8gb-REL.tar in the PDA and unchecked FRESET or whatever and made sure repartition was check and reboot. I have even rooted my stocked then tried to flash CM9 still boot-loop 2 times no logo then back into CWM... my clockwork mod im using is [RECOVERY] ClockworkMod 5.0.2.7
If anyone can possibly help me with this id be so thankful. Dont forget I have never had any other rom ever act like this. all 50+ other roms ive flased have always worked first time around.. well not 50 but 20+ lol! =D Thank to everyone who does read this.
EDIT:
Yes I have wiped data and both caches in CWM and checked the md5 over 10+ times I have re downloaded this so many times.
Kkthnxbye
Redownload and check the md5sum it could have been an improper download and when you flash you wiped your data cache and dalvik
To check md5's if you have es file explorer you can hold the file and go to properites and hit check and check md5 and hit run and it will give you the whole md5 and you can compare to the md5 sum they provide usually ...

Aw... you'll have to install the android sdk and have adb shell on your pc and have usb debugging on but you could run a logcat and have a dev read it and see if he can find the issue I don't know how to work any of these nor where to find them if you ask a dev I'm sure he would gladly respond with instructions.

Hi guys..
This is my first time on this site. I dont know why I never found it sooner. Anyways. I have a Sprint Galaxy S2 Epic 4g Touch. I am currently on the fi27 I believe & I am rooted.
I would like to update to the JellyBean.
First off, can I go to JellyBean from the fi27, or do I have to go to the Fl24 first, then to JellyBean?
Do I have to unroot, before I do anything?
I hope I am asking all the right questions. I really have no clue what I am talking about. I had my friend try to explain it to me, but didnt work very well... My head isnt right at times. I have a brain tumor, so sometimes things are hard for me to comprehend..
So if someone could tell me what I need to do in order to get to JellyBean, from rooted fi27.. I would appreciate it.. Or if someone can guide me to the correct post that I would need to read that explains it..
Just anything to help me get to JB, & whatever Files or programs I need or whatever..
Really appreciate your guys help!! Means a lot...

Rwilco has made a compilation of the stock roms (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903252), which include Official JB Builds. When you feel confident about moving forward, you might also want to look at some of the other non-stock roms too. Good luck in your flashing!
To go from ics to jellybean flash in odin a one click for a jellybean rom. Super easy to do take a look at some stickies for guidance. Rwilco has the one clicks for you.

I am rooted. I said that in the first post.
I have no clue what an Odin is or a one click..
Like I said, I have never done anything like this before. I got my phone from a friend who had rooted it before I got it.
I apologize for my questions. Having a brain tumor messes up my head at times & things are hard for me to understand. I am sorry.
Can someone maybe post a link to the page or the file that I would need in order to get to JellyBean..
I am not on ICS. I am still on FI27
Can I go to JellyBean from FI27, or do I have to go to FL24 first?
Can I just flash to JB from where I am now, being on FI27 & rooted or do I have to Unroot first.
Nobody answered my questions..
Or If you did, I am sorry, but I dont understand.
Go to this post...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39175034
Click on the link for GB27 root/restore and download to your PC.
Once its DL you need to extract files. Right click on your screen and make a folder gb27...then click on the DL gb27 and extract... Click to select where to extract too then select that folder you just created.
Once it's done double click until a screen pops up that says something like root/restore gb27. Boot to DL mode (power off the hold volume down and power at the sane time.. Then select volume up) and then connect to PC. Once it recognizes your device...yellow light...click start and then let it do its thing till the green pass light happens then your phone will auto reboot and then set it up.
I know this sounds like a lot. While you're DL the one click at this link watch qbkings video and it will all make sense I swear. He makes it very very easy.
grab the restore version of the one-click...being its ur first time on jb.. this will wipe ur phone data..so back up anything u need...but i definitely advise using restore version ...this will also create the correct system partition for jb on ur phone....and as stated above, Watch the qbking video...it is a great resource.....Good luck..
