If that doesn't work, wipe cache and Dalvik after wiping app data. If that doesn't work, wipe everything 3x and reflash the ROM. That works almost always...if not, its Odin time.

I fixed it by uninstalling the google search ( inhanced ) software
and everything is okay now
Yes Google Services Framework. If you are on a GB ROM you need to do this in Titanium Backup. It won't hurt to wipe data in all the Google Apps in case one of them is causing it. Also make sure to enable journaling on your ROM.

Just installed the latest 1.6 Starburst ROM but doesnt seem to work. I am getting force closing of the task bar and and reboot cycling.
I followed the direction with doing factory wipe and clearing cache and dalvik cache first.
Anyone know what the problem is?
Thanks
Yes your problem is if you have a problem with a rom you installed ask the question in the thread for that rom...... That would make sense

I've used Cyanogen Mod for quite a while without issue. Then, last week my camera started force closing. So far as I knowing didn't change any settings or install an app that would mess with it. Haven't updated radios, etc...it just stopped. I've cleared the cache in apps settings, there is space on the card.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
clear cache and dalvik from recovery, and reboot. If that doesnt work, you will probably have to reflash the rom.

Shouldn't lose anything, as you are just clearing cache files. However, it can never hurt to do a backup first, only takes a couple minutes.
Ugh. I did a full wipe and upgraded to 7.1 (was on 7.0.2)...Camera is still FC'ing...again, it works with other apps (Vignette, Goggles) but not the stock camera. It worked just fine until two weeks ago...and then, nothing. No clue why. :/
Well, now it works...I did one more wipe and it just started working. Thanks!
Try fix permissions, worked for me

I have installed MIUI 2.3.23 on my wife's epic, and the text is not working. I saw where this is an issue and it was recommended to use 2.3.16. Do I need to wipe data and cache to flash 2.3.16, or can I just flash it? Sorry if that is a bonehead question; just trying to save a few steps, but don't want to mess this thing up.
Sam
Wipe everything and flash clean other wise you'll end up transfering the corrupt data

Thanks for the quick reply. I did this.
I've flashed 2.3.23, 2.3.16, 2.1.16, and now 1.12.23.
I wiped everything (cache, dalvik cache, and data) each time. I cannot get the thing to receive texts. Sends them fine, but won't receive them. I have searched the forums, but can't find the answer. What have I missed?
Thanks,
Sam

You're on miuigb? I flashed 1.12.23 over 2.3.16 no problem, didn't even clear data, Odining could always help but maybe just flash another rom and go back, to MIUI...

Yes, I am currently on the GB version. Started with the most recent ICS, and I have been working my way back through the versions thinking one would allow texting to work, but none have. I'm in the process of restoring the CM7 backup to see if that will work.
Thanks for the input. I'll let you know how it turns out.

You may need to odin. Are you on sprint? If not, you need to flash the alternate carrier fix

Every time I start Google Now while I'm on data, it just says "Initializing" and eventually times out. When I back out of it and do it again, it's fine. This is on 4G and it doesn't happen on wi-fi. Has anyone experienced this and is there a fix?
Are you rooted? If so, has this happened on other roms?
If not, try clearing its cache and then reboot

I am rooted and it's happened all ROMs. Never had a chance to try it on stock since that was pre-Jelly Bean. Do I clean the cache for "Google Search"?
Yes, try that
But on all roms? Have you restored any data?

Yea, I've restored apps+data via ROM Toolbox Pro but not for Google Search.
Yeahh I've seen weird things happen when you restore data...try backing up the Google Search apk, uninstall and then reinstall it
Clearing the cache worked. Thanks for the tip.

Hi,
I realize this is a noob question, my apologies and any help/advice fixing this would be greatly appreciated. I installed Mod 10.0.0-d2spr on my Samsung Galaxy S3. I followed these instructions (I can't post the link because of my noob status but the title is How to Root the Samsung Galaxy S III (and Rid It Of TouchWiz Hell) and it's from gizmodo UK) and everything seemed to be going fine. It booted up in cyanogen. I then went to step 4 and tried to restore my backups and it was sort of a disaster. The apps installed but it also disabled the android keyboard, I can't turn that on, it is greyed out.
Essentially, cyanogen is installed but I can't open some apps (browser for instance) and the keyboard isn't functioning. I do have data and can make calls/receive texts. Can someone please help if they have any knowledge of a fix or any idea on how to proceed to remedy this?
Also, I did boot into recovery and reinstalled the mod, same issues persist.
Thanks!
Go into recovery and wipe your phone. Install CM10.1 and do not restore any apps. As this is known to cause problems.

I think you're right about that as before I flashed them, everything seemed fine. When I reinstall the mod will they be deleted? The first time I wiped the phone and reinstalled it didn't solve the problem.

Thanks for your help. I reinstalled the mod and I'm good again with the keyboard, text, phone, etc. Oddly the browser isn't opening any web pages. Any idea why?

What did you wipe? System, data, and caches? If not, try wiping what you missed and then boot up into the rom again (but don't wipe system or you won't have an OS)
