Hey guys, I've been doing this for about the past 2 hours.. and it's starting to bother me. I've been trying to unroot and go back to EC05 w/ Odin, and it won't get past factoryfs. I unplug it after about 20 minutes & pull the battery and retry, but it never gets past factoryfs.. How can I fix this? Thanks.
This has happened to me a couple of times I always try and repartion when it happens. Trying a different cable on a different usb port might help.

Can someone tell me what could cause a stock evo to reboot by itself ??

Your evo is a computer... Many factors could cause it to reboot. How often does it happen?
Just happened twice when I tried to go on the net

I haven't seen this in awhile, however it wasn't an uncommon occurrence after the phones initial release.First thing to check, menu, settings, networks, mobile networks, enable always on mobile data.I f the enable mobile data box is not checked, and you have any accounts set to auto sync the accounts will try to sync and the phone will reboot. One of the first things the phone tries to do after rebooting is auto sync which will again cause a reboot. This cycle will generally continue until the battery is dead.

Boot to recovery and do a factory reset. Don't give up on trying root again though.
Wondering if anyone else is having this problem phone reboots on its own and I'm all stock what can I do ???

Had this problem for only a minute. Either do a factory data reset or try reflashing the ROM. Backup first of course.

Searched high and low for this. And I finally found it!
This is the exact problem I am having except it doesn't seem to be confined to ROM. Also, USB still works properly. The problem is the phone keeps thinking it's connecting / disconnecting to USB all day long and for some reason this kills the battery life. It also makes it impossible to see notifications in the bar without sliding it down (the bar is constantly flashing USB connected).
I had this problem on SRF1.2 (EC05) and ODIN'd to EH17 last night... there's no way the problem could carry over if it was a software issue right? Well, the USB was connecting/disconnecting as soon as EH17 booted.
Any insight into what is causing this? I'm starting to think my only option is to ODIN back to stock and bring it in to a Sprint store...
UPDATE: It seems the problem has 'stabilized' a bit... the USB connection is now ALWAYS considered to be on and no longer flashes connect/disconnect over and over. Maybe I just need to clean out the USB contacts?
One last bump of this thread for ideas... I really don't want to take it in to a Sprint store. Problem is still ongoing and cripples my phone to just a few hours battery life. Is there some way I can clean out the contacts of the usb connection? This might be where the "false connections" are coming from.
Open to any other ideas.
My girlfriends phone did that for about 10 minutes one day last week. I just took my better than stock micro usb cable and gently jiggled the connection a bit. We haven't had an issue with it since. Her stock cord went bad at that same point in time, so she uses a better one now as well. I would imagine you probably already tried this, but I figured i'd post my experience.

I experienced a SLEW of random reboots last night one after the other while charging. However they didnt seem to be actual reboots, the phone would stop responding, the samsung logo would start up and bam, your back on lockscreen, less than 15 seconds. This seemed to happen when I would use s pen, and only happened while charging....
Anyone else experiencing random reboots like this? Also what are those short reboots? Ive never seen the phone...or any other phone do those short duration reboots.
Also im on stock not rooted
I wiped everything ,factory reset, and reflashed stock image. Havent had one yet. Also installed a logger to watch for reboots while im asleep.

I have not experienced this. Hope the reflash fixes it!
I've experienced a few of these. However I think they are reboots, that's just how fast this thing boots up.
So far my logger hasnt shown anym9re reboots. So it kay have been a bad app messing with the system. L et s see if two more days go by without one.
Also if the cache fills up would that trigger reboots/problems?

Ive had 2 reboots. Both times when hooked up to my computer. Once changing from ptp to mtp and the other moment after unplugging from the computer. I just did a factory reset in hopes of curing this.
Thats exactly what happened to me...only when either plugged into charger or to computer

I recently purchased a GT-P5210 and was working on rooting it. I was so close to finishing and I figured out I needed an SD-Card to root it.
I got an SD-Card and tried to boot in Recovery. It was not working! It was just shutting the tablet off as it booted up. I realized this after 3 times of it happening, then I did it one more to see if it really was just turning off. Now it wont turn on anymore!
So what I did was turn off the tablet 4 times in a row as it was booting up and now it's bricked.
What can I do?
Edit: I did all this as it was connected to the PC. It won't even charge now either.
At one point I saw the battery on the screen from trying to boot it in recovery and I think it was one more time of trying to boot it in recovery that it would not respond to turning on or charging anymore.
Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and reconnecting it. This has worked for me under similar circumstances. Check YouTube for a video first, but it's really not to hard and there are no screws to remove to get the back off and get to the battery.

All right I will do that, I was afraid to do it in the first place because it looked very difficult to remove the back. I will get back to here after I have done so.
Got it open! MAN was that a pain. Okay, now to figure out how to get this sophisticated battery out.
Got it out and put it in. Now is working. THANK YOU!!!
Recently bought a bricked note 2 off my friend thinking i was going to fix it and was sadly mistaken! Everytime i try to put a new firmware on the phone it either A- goes through the whole process on odin, reboots at the end, the galaxy logo pops up, the screen flashes and just gets stuck at the charging screen frozen or B- fails in the first 5 seconds trying a different firmware and reboots itsself and goes back to the frozen charging screen. it will only turn only if i plug the phone in and really hate to see it sitting around not being used. I guess my friend was trying to root it and he hit the usb cord and It interrupted the download. is there anyway i can fix it and if so how? It would be much appreciated!

Well if it only turns on while plugged in then one issue is bad battery. Now about the odin problem what version of odin and which tar file are you using?
