It has been a while, but I am interesting in rooting my phone again and forgot how to do it. Please take it easy.
I am running Froyo EC05 and wondering what I need to do. Please post links to other thread already out there so I can refresh myself.
The things I am most interested in is to have wired and wireless tether and battery life, but at the very least wireless tether.
Thanks in advance.

So basically I need to download clockwork in the link you provided. Root my phone via pc with clockwork and then move the file for the rom I want on my SD card and go into clockwork mode and then install from there?
Watch the video in the second post. It will walk you through beginning to end. I promise.
If ur not comfortable download odin and flash this

Does anyone have any recomendations for a rom. I was looking at the newest syndicaterom. Even though it is in my signature I have been stock for a while since updating to ec05
It is all coming back now. Now once I do install the rom I need to wipe data first so any programs are anything I have will be removed correct?
Thanks.

That's correct, wiping 3x. Also, if you're flashing Syndicate 1.2 you have to flash a custom kernel immediately afterwards, I reccomend Genocide.

Why do you have to flash right away and why do you recommend genocide? Do you have a link to it on the board?

Because it doesn't flash a kernel by itself and doesn't boot without one. I reccomend Genocide bcause I've heard a lot of good about it, and no I don't have a link handy. Back in a sec with it.

There were update.zips somewhere to do DG17->DG27->DI07->DI18, but they seem to have been buried due to lack of use. Odin is easy enough, though.
Iv'e come across the samsung epic 4g, I HAVE NO IDEA on where to start with rooting it or recovery's or anything of it's nature, I come from the land of the HTC EVO so everything pertaining to the Epic 4G is like alien language to me, So basically can someone point me to a noob guide or something like that lol? thank in advance.
Under our Android Development, you should find everything you need stickied.
You'll want:
Odin and if I were you, I'd start of with an EC05 Stock Rom, odexed, RFS, but with root, cwm 3.1, and that sort of goody.
Once flashed, you'll want to nandroid backup, and then start seeing what you want, and how you'll go about achieving that.
Stickied at the top of this forum. 67 videos by qbking77 tells all including needed links.

then DO A BACKUP!!!!
basically everything you do on this phone is through clockworkmod. forget about rom manager. after you do a backup and you want to flash a new rom, you'll want to do full wipe 3x every time you want to flash a rom.
the links and instructions and the "what is that?" for odin as well as rooting instructions are in the first link... the second link will upgrade you to our current CWM (purple)
Edit: I would stick to EC05 stuff at first... it's our current stable 2.2 build. all of our 2.3 stuff is leaks and most of them behave naughty. So my advice is definitely stick to EC05 until you find your footing

ok so i just rooted my et4g and i installed rom manager, im trying to flash the recovery and it has four options to flash.
none in which say et4g
only
samsung at&t GalaxyS2
samsung GalaxyS i9000
samsung GalaxyS i9000 (MTD)
samsung GalaxyS2
which one is my best bet?
if any of them i think the bottom one is but i was worried that one is for the euro s2?
any help would be greatly appreciated
None of the above.
so what do i do??
i want to flash a rom already! haah
Odin a rooted kernel with clockwork mod (chris41g's lost kernel is what I used), and follow the ROM install instructions from the development section.
and lets just say if i used this vs using that method lol

If you are worried about customization issues or just want to remain stock, I would flash this. It is completely stock with cwm. You can than flash a prerooted rom or su.zip and you are rooted and ready to go.

I was planing on going stock and rooting again so i could overclock and flash a rom sooner or later. So i guess that would be the best way with that link
That thread will give you ek02 kernel and ek02 rom, but not the modem.
Flash the modem separately if you want it.
Alternatively if you want to start from scratch, odin the eg30 factory restore from my signature, then immediately apply the ek02 ota update.

If you have access to Odin i'd recommend flashing over one of the pre-rooted packages.
You can use the ie22 GB rooting method according to Qbking77, and that way you won't need to ODIN or flash anything and lose your data.
Also next time post in Q & A so you don't get flamed

Honestly, since Rodderik responded to you in the one click root method thread, I would use the thread he linked you.
