Is they any way to change the host name for my Desire's wifi address? Because when connected to a wireless router it uses the IMEI number in the host name. Android_IMEI
I don't think there is... There might be in an xml somewhere though, but is it really important?

I don't really no. I've seen people not post there IMEI number on forums for some reason. If your connected to a public wifi router they could see your phones IMEI.
I just thought if there was an easy way to change it then I would, but it doesn't bother me that much.

+1 I'm also interested
why not indeed.
I'm also interested in changing my MAC.
I'm planing to hack into the NSA network from my desire, so I need to know.
But wait what?
The MAC address is replaced at the next router with it's own address?
Aw crap...
um, I think it might come in handy when I'm going to use my desire to hack into wireless networks, yep, you know, wardriving and such and hacking WPA networks on the fly.
now this could be fun
but I may need a couple of thousand more desire phones running parallel to accomplish that in my lifetime.

For the ADSL.
some router haven't pppoe inside.
just like a invisible wire.
some wifi ask you to provide the username and password
computer can do it very easy because it has the pppoe dial-up
but your phone haven't
use this software you can do it just like a computer's dial.
special purpose.
Lets say my friend has a wife thats password protected.
He gives me the pass. In order to connect to his wifi should i use this app?

Nice, password protecting your wife could be useful.
Hello everyone.
When I connect my device to any pc via Wi-Fi using Connectify or other programs, I see name of my phone in that programs like "android-3d6d0...bla-bla-bla". I want to rename my device so it would be identified by any programs something like "Someone's phone". How can I do that?
If I am correct, this is configurable under the ''Bluetooth'' settings.
It's actually your Device WiFi ID I think, and, is not changeable AFAIK. Corrections welcome.

Hey guys I got a EPIC 4g, and i got a few issues, I used CDMA WS to change the PPP/HDR id and pass. It wont let me change the HDR user/pass. So i was rooted the phone and retried it again. This time it worked, but only according to CDMA WS, because when i got into ##3282# Data Profile > Username it still has the sprint ID in there. Does anyone know how i can edit this?
I did try to edit it inside the phone, but it does not give me an option to commit the change.
thanks
and the reason i'm editing these items is because i am flashing this phone for cricket.
Please read the stickies, particularly the first one.
i did use the search function, i wasn't able to find anything about this.
I think he just meant because you posted this in the wrong forum.
o okay sorry, didn't realize it, i figured it would be in this forum because its not a general question, its a bit more techy with nv items and such. sorry

This entire forum is about technology, so it's all techy here (or at least it should be).

Now that this is in the right section... Try QPST. You could be able to change just about all of the basic CDMA parameters there, including the Sprint email address associated with it.
Hey guy's I recently got the XAV-701HD mirrorlink unit for my truck. The driveLink app is beyond horrible. I read a post from a guy on the reviews section. Here it is
It's a shame that a developer outside of Samsung had to modify this app to make it what it should have been. If anyone reads this review, please know that their is a modified version of drive link. I currently have it on my phone and it works great on my Sony XAV-701HD head unit. I am able to use Pandora and all apps including Netflix. I can load all shortcuts to my home screen and they stay, the annoying warning message is removed, and the app works flawlessly and it is still in development with users reading at xda developers. Make sure your head unit is up to date on the firmware, if you want apps to work while driving, the unit must have the video bypass simply by grounding your parking brake wire. Once you uninstall Samsung's crappy version and install the new version, you will see a whole new world on your unit. I recommend installing button saviour to your phone and using Nova Launcher. Check out all of the videos on YouTube. I am now a happy camper but not with Samsung.
He raves about how awesome this app is but doesnt tell anywhere the damn name or where it is. Does anyone know this and can direct me to where it is? I need it asap. THANKS
I think I found a thread dedicated to it here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951960&page=17
But I cant post in it. I just need to know where and how to download the modified version, and Do I need to have my phone cracked or unlocked or what have you? Id rather not do that. someone let me know.

The link is right there in the OP.
http://www.mediafire.com/?25xw30a5447yo96
According to the OP, it also messes up data on CDMA SGS3's. Of which the Sprint S3 is one.
Man posting anything in this forum is really invloved w/ all these restrictions...
Forgive my ignorance. But what data does it mess up? I saw this on youtube it wont let me type the damn link but its video g1rnm5Cd2ug
search "Drivelink full mirroring"
and it seems this guy is using it w/ the s3.
thank you for the help.

I think what they mean is that it will just kill your signal while in use, but not permanently
And I don't know much else about the specifics, let me help you rack up some quick 10 posts here and then you can go ask in that thread

It's too limit the amount of spam by some new users. They tend to post in the dev section when they shouldn't, making question threads or things that should go in general
So that's where that rule comes from
Anyway, everything else good? Latest modem and all?
