Phone not reading sd card after ESPRIMG.zip - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, everyone. I need some help with my myTouch 3G Slide. I recently had to get a warranty replacement of one due to slide issues. When I received the replacement phone it then had 2.2.1 already on it. I successfully got the phone back down to 2.1 so that I can root it easier. Problem is, the phone no longer recognizes that I have a Micro SD card in it. I just get an error in the notification bar, saying "SD Card Removed". I am a very technical person and have done all I can think to do, but it still won't read my SD card. Any help at all would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you!

After a LOT of researching, I finally fixed it. I just fallowed the steps in this artical...

Damaged SD Card Notification - Just Appeared And With Multiple Cards

Hi All,
I'm starting to get annoyed with my Desire with the little problems which are starting to appear!
Today - all of a sudden I got a notification to say "Damaged SD Card" so I took the card out and put it back in but that didn't work.
I then took it out and put it in an adapter on my computer and it sees all the files in it, so I'm trying to copy them across so I can reformat the card.
But I tried a different card in the Desire, the one that came with the phone and it has the same error!
I hard resetted the phone (which annoyed me because my SMS backup doesn't start until midnight!) tried both cards again and still the same error!
Any ideas what I can do?
Thanks for your help in advance

Try reformatting with the desire, and not the pc!
Also make sure your card is class 4 minimum I had the problem on my hero with class 2 where it kept corrupting. Now have class 4 had no problems

Please help with sd card

Hi to everyone at this great website
I rooted my phone and everything has been working fine until yesterday i was trying to take pictures and was not able to take any at all and was getting an error that the evo was not able to access the sd card then I tried connecting it to my computer to see if there was anyway to access it through it and was unsuccessfull.
Please help without the files in the sd card I don't know if I can restore the phone back to factory settings if I need to return the phone
Please any one who can help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
I know this is like not helpful at this point, but I would recommend when u get this taken care of that you make a complete backup of you SD card with the nandroid backups and original restoration on a computer in case.this ever happens again. I did this and was saved when my SD card died on me. Good luck.
I bet there's a stock image out there somewhere.

Thanks for your comments, I hope other people can post other ideas as to how to recover from this problem.
Please help
Any one has any other recommendations? My problem is it doesn't detect the card at all. By the way I did made a copy of all the files the were in the SD card, but the problem is I can't copy to the SD card because it doesn't detect the card. I have even tried formating the card and that still didn't work.
Have you installed the OTA update? It was supposed to take care of this issue. Have you tried another SD card?
I just tried another card and it works then I tried the evo SD card im my blackberry and it doesn't work there either, so my conclusion is that the evo card is corrupted I can't even format it.
By the way once you root your phone I can't update unless it was the SD card problem not sure.
Thanks for your response
If you haven't installed the OTA update then I would just in case it is the problem. There is a rooted version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=697636.

SD Card fix is described in post here and from another forum here.

re-root or not? (SD issues!)

QUESTION 1
Well.. My SD card suddenly broke. The settings show that it is unavailable.. and when I connect the usb cable, there is no "Disk drive" option listed in the connection type, and it is not recognized by my PC!
I only removed it once when I first bought it two weeks ago!
In some posts, I read that it is probably broken.. Isn't there any way to get it working? or at least retrieve my files?
QUESTION 2
Anyways, I have another microSD card from my other cell phone (8GB).. It worked when I inserted it. I figured I need to re-root it! So I installed VISSIONary by following this guide, but the temproot and permroot do not seem to have any effect (permroot requested superuser permission but nothing else happened.. no reboot!).
Do I need to root this SD card? Or is the root only required once during the stock ROM?
All your questions have been asked and answered several times. Please use the search function.
You are right. I found few posts about the corrupted SD card before I posted a new thread. And as I mentioned in my first post, they all indicate that the SD is dead and should be replaced. I was just looking for some hope for it to be repaired.
Regarding my second question, I did not find any information about rooting a replacement SD card nor the solution of the unresponsive visionary+ (in case I do have to root it) the answer. If you had more luck (or skill!) stumbling upon the answer or if you know the solution. Please make your post more helpful and you will be much appreciated!

Hi there !
What do you mean by "root" the SD card? You root the phone, not the sd card!
If you've already rooted your phone, there's no need to try and root it again - unless you've removed it or wiped the phone.
Ok, let me guess;
You have a stock rom, probably whatsapp & astro and probably 100% certain: you installed the OTA update about 1 day - 1,5 week ago....
I have spoken with HTC and have setup a specific topic on the SD card on another forum.
HTC has confirmed to me that with the latest OTA update they have seen reported isues including corrupted sd cards.
Lots of users are reporting broken sd cards after the latest (1.72) OTA update.
You can log this with HTC and it is likely they will replace your sd card.

External media in unknown state?

My SD CARD recently has been giving me some issues. It has worked fine since I got the phone in Aug 2010. I went to access my pictures yesterday and as they started popping up, an SD card picture popped up and said please insert SD card. No pictures could be accessed. I went to phone and SD storage and it said my SD card was unmounted. I went to mount it when I saw this, pressed mount, started to mount and stopped all of a sudden. Now I have an icon of an SD card with a question mark in my taskbar. The message says" SD card damaged. You may have to reformat it." When I go to reformat it, it gives me the message "external media in unknown state". Any ideas?

Because you need to give us more than 3 hours to help you. Being impatient and bumping your thread like this makes people NOT want to help you.
i wish someone could please help me with this issue because its also happening to me, it happend twice already on two different sd cards, i even took the sd card out and put it into my Samsung Epic but still it says the sd card is blank . please help
I used to get this message way back in June 2010 when I first bought my Evo. It happened exactly as you are describing. I thought my SD card was bad. So I moved all my contents to my PC, formatted the SD card, then moved the contents back. It may have been coincidence, but it helped, for a little while, and then the exact same problem returned.
All this happened before I had ever rooted. I then rooted my phone, installed a custom rom, and have never had the problem again, even though it was the exact same SD Card.
Are either of you who are having this problem currently rooted? Or are you both stock? If you are stock, you could try rooting, and installing the stock rom. If you aren't comfortable with that, then try formatting the card, and if you have a spare microSD try that just to troubleshoot it. If you get the same result with a different card that you know is good, that will narrow it down to being related to software on the phone.

I had a similar issue, I reformatted my memory card, and the problem has not returned. It has been seven months since then.
If you are formatting it on a mac, make sure that you set the partition type correctly to MBR (Master Boot Record)

[Q] Can any one help me with my sd card being mounted?

I have the htc evo 4g. One day I booted my phone and the sd card would not mount. It is read in bootloader and on my pc, but not on my phone. I have tried formatting my sd card and trying different ones. My phone is unrooted and has android 2.3.3 on it. It also keeps rebooting over and over. I am not sure what I can do:-(. Any help would be great.

Thank you, but I do not understand much of that:-/ Is there another way?
Hey nvm, I did it. But my phone still keeps rebooting over and over. It boots up to the home screen, then a few minutes later it will reboot.:-(
