not sure if its just me but since i updated to 2.3.3 from htc i always have an idicator saying you have low memory :/ i only have 2 apps installed from the market and they are both on the sd card , anyone an idea how to fix this? thanks
only thing to suggest is root your desire and flash a custom rom that has A2SD+/data2sd support, for that check the development section
i would but theres no root for 2.3.3 just yet (i think)
Im not sure if there is either, have you tried any? you might have to tough it out then, theres nothin to suggest from me
ive searched and searched but no.joy :/

nope, not possible to root or S-OFF, so you're pretty much screwed for flashing that garbage in the first place for now.

You should had to ask this in your mind before flashing an RUU that contain an hboot update!
At the moment there is no way, u can wait that unrevoked or alpharev found a solution, if they care

Well, the only way is rooting/S-OFF and installing a 2.2 ROM right?

Yes but the problem is that you can't root or s-off if you have installed stock Gingerbread. That's what andQlimax was trying to suggest.
I have same issue with lovalim, so I pray everyday that unrevoked or alpharev can save us......
unrevoked or alpharev, please help!!!
Worry !
So folks here .. does that mean GB upgrade should be done only once i have taken sufficient reviews and made up mind for the same.
Guys is the upgrade not worth it!!! i heard the memory available will reduce to something like 128mb but i heard there are better abilities to move applications to SD card.
Is it true??? is any once facing serious disappointments after the upgarde?
I am kinda waiting for responses !

Why don't you install a pre rooted version? Then your hboot won't be upgraded and you can return to froyo if necessary.

Well i m looking at installing the Stock GB via RUU from HTC.. which now i dont think will be favourable for me after the responses !
I had contacted the HTC Support to ask the query regarding the downgrade possibility. The support guy has informed that this HTC Stock GB upgarde is some sorta special upgrade and hence it seems they will rollback my device incase i m not happy ..
" We informed you that after upgrading your HTC Desire to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, if you wish to again move for Android 2.2 Froyo you may visit our service center and get your device downgraded to Android 2.2 Froyo. "

Since i m a newbie i have a doubt, does that mean there is no hboot upgarde happening ..
Looking forward to further thots from all the geniuses here !!
No there is an hboot upgrade, I think it just means only they can downgrade it for you which is why you have to take it to their service centre.

i hope that they can find solution to root the phone cuz the new GB is not good and it's not support Arabic language and the available space is not enough to install application and allot of things
and i read this news about rooting the new GB http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1209243
i don't know is this's true or not
thnx for all

i was thinking of doing this too, what is wrong with it,why do people not like it,2.3 has a force to SD card function so memory shouldnt be a problem,a review would be great so i can make a decision, does it affect your SMS and MMS like they said it might? and if this does stuff up then how else could i get it rolled back as i live in australia and have no idea where a service center is,i would have to go to my Telstra store to have it sent in which case im not sure if it is covered by warranty?
Service centre for sydney is fonebiz rokdale
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
At the moment there is no way to have it rolled back, it'll change your boot animation so telstra will most likely notice that you don't have their official rom on it therefore voiding your warranty. I think the main reason people don't like it is that once its installed you can no longer root your phone so you're stuck with it. Also, I'm not sure how great the stock force to sd feature would be.
Sent from my CM7.1 Desire using XDA Premium App
i thought my warranty goes through HTC? at least thats what i was told? if its a ROM by HTC why would it void their own warranty? well is it that bad that ppl want to go back to froyo? or is it coz they just want to complain or what? what is the actual difference that makes it a poor upgrade, and how come u dont think the force SD would be good?
Not so great, better to flash custom rom.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
my desire dosent like to root for some strange reason, ive tried a bunch of times with no luck so this is kinda my only option
what is force to sd?
where do i find it on my desire please?
maybe this is only me but having installed the update and put all my apps back on the phone I can't actually see a single new feature.
So after a lot of shouting and moaning about on here after HTC said yes then no then yes again, what did we actually get in return for all the waiting etc?
For the average consumer no but for developers and users if custom roms yes
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
The user got nothing at all. HTC even said in the RUU that it was for developers.
Probably the biggest benefit of gingerbread over froyo ( apart from a general performance upgrade) is an improved apps to SD. Now with GB more of the app is moved to the SD card saving more internal memory space.
am i wrong in saying that after flashing the GB RUU that u have now lost root? (if u had it to start with)
That's correct, also you cannot root it at the moment because RUU updated hboot version which is now unsupported by unrevoked.

Hi guys quick q for the devs...just got my desire back from being repaired and I'm actually happy with the speed and stability of the stock Rom yet still suffering from the low memory...was wondering if I root it again is there a script I can run to get aps2sd and still keep my stock Rom as I only want the extra space ?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You could try to get DarkTremor working. That's the only script I know of tbh. You could do a quick search.
Simply run the revoluntionary program and get S-OFF & Root. (without flashing a new ROM)
You'll keep the stock rom, but with the added perk of having A2SD, being able to do nandroid backups, underclock/overclock, etc etc.
I did this for my old HTC Desire, and also my new HTC EVO 3D, works like a treat.

Baadnwz already made a version of the stock 2.3 that allows you to use your SD as supplemental memory. Check it out !

Is there a reason you want to unroot, especially since you're out of warranty? You can go back to stock without unrooting. The Desire HD Development forum has a sticky thread indexing available ROMs. At the bottom of the first post, there's a "RUU and stock" section. There are several rooted stock ROMs for the Desire HD available there, including this one (which I believe is the latest).
i dont mind if its unrooted or rooted..
but just want to keep a backup of the original stock rom for the htc desire hd incase
having it unrooted and install original rom of htc desire hd so i can get original updates ... and trying out how to delete all the bloatware im still new but still learning from it
just last night i installed jellytime 4.1.1 ... very nice android.. but camera paranoma isnt working perfect.. and i dont see google play on it..
so have to manually download .apk files and load it on sd card then install the apps i wanted...
HTC Desire HD won't get any more official updates from HTC, so the best best thing you can do is the keep it rooted or stay on a custom rom.

For Jellytime you need to install Google apps (including Play Store) separately. It's linked at the bottom of the first post in the Jellytime thread.
And like the above post says, we aren't getting any more updates.
To delete bloatware, get a file manager with root access (I use Solid Explorer) and delete them from /system/app.
Hi all, can somebody give me some advice to help out a friend.
My housemate has an HTC Wildfire and told me it keeps saying out of storage space errors. So I had a look at it, just assuming I needed to delete some apps, remove old cache data and maybe move some apps to the SD card. On checking, he has 7MB space free, so I thought he must have loads of apps installed, but there's only about 7?! The internal storage was so low and yet the SD card storage was hardly used at all, and there was also no option to move apps to the SD card. Didn't know these phones had so little storage space (I almost got one of these before my x10 3 years ago!)
I'm guessing the best thing to do is root the phone and clear out junk apps etc using Titanium Backup. I've done rooting and using of custom ROMs before on my old Xperia X10, but never on any other phone so is there an easy way to do it on an HTC Wildfire? As I am aware the process will be different. Also what sort of custom ROMs were developed for the Wildfire? Just upto Gingerbread or ICS and beyond, and if the latter, do they run better than GB?
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers
Just to be clear Your friend has HTC Wildfire S and not HTC WILDFIRE...If he has Wildfire S then follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878031
Some Wildfire S models manufactured in 2012 gave some problems regarding recovery..If above mentioned guide fails and you can't get to recovery then follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1997465...
If the Wildfire S is manufactured in 2012 and you had to follow the second guide then you can't install ROMs based on CYANOGENMOD... You can only install ROMs based on stock ROM...
Thanks ever so much for the reply - I will have a look through those links. I did wonder whether he had the Wildfire or Wildfire S (before yesterday I had no idea there were two models) but then I guessed it would be the S as he is on 2.3.5 and yet the standard Wildfire shipped with 2.1 or 2.2 I believe.
Is there a 'safe list' of bloatware apps etc that can be removed from the Wildfire S with Titanium once it has been rooted?
Many thanks

I don't know about safe list.. but there are some ROMs with removed bloatware like Kimsmod supreme,Wildchild etc.. and also 3.5 ROMs..
P.S. Wildfire has a trackball under screen.. and Wildfire S doesn't have trackball..
Back again. Thanks for the replies
Finally got a working USB cable for my housemate's phone. He still wants to root, and being that I have done this on my old Xperia X10, he wants me to look into it - however, on reading that tutorial you (very kindly!) provided the link for above, it seems very complicated. Is there not an easier, simpler solution, or is this the best/fastest way?
Also I keep reading about Int2Ext in these forums - is this something that allows the SD card to be partitioned and used for apps? If so, does this come built in with custom ROMs or is it something you must do manually??
Many thanks
What is happening?
Is everyone seriously replying
the man is asking a question about HTC WILDFIRE NOT WILDFIRE S
hey dude plz delete this thread and open a new thread in your forum "HTC WILDFIRE"
What are you on about? It is the Wildfire-S....

There is HTC SuperTool v3 that can root your phone. This method would be the easiest (after you have unlocked the bootloader) assuming it works but unfortunately, it didn't work for me.
INT2EXT allows you to use a partitioned section of your SD card for more storage of apps More info here. Most custom roms support the use of the INT2EXT script
