wildfire s(unrooted) stuck in bootloop HELP!!! - HTC Wildfire S

Hi,my wife`s 4 week old wildfire s (o2) rebooted for no reason and is now stuck in the HTC white screen and continues in a bootloop. It is unrooted ie nothing touched since new on contract.have tried reset, clear data etc but nothing works.any ideas or will i need to send back to o2?
thanks in advance

I'd take it to an O2 store, they can be a bit funny if you do anything with the software.

Hi!!
Try to enter bootloader mode by holding volume down and power button at the same time.
If it works, shutdown your decive, extract your sdcard and mount it in your PC. Download and copy the firmware that match with your region to the root of the sd (remember the file might have to be renamed) and then reenter bootloader and let it flash the file.
Probably your device will be restored and you don't have to send it to repair, because that may take 2 weeks.
Good lucks!!

try this one + maybe you need to create golcard in order to flash this

[Q] Desire (stock, not root) can't boot !

Hi,
I need help with my HTC Desire 2.2 stock (not rooted).
I don't know why but it can't boot (freeze on HTC white screen).
I tried vol down + power button to enter in bootloader then tried to clear storage and other items but I still can't boot in normal mode.
Anybody can help me please ?
How long have you left it before turning it off?
About 1 minute. How long should I wait ?
Since I cleared storage it vibrates 7 times quickly and doesn't boot.

Probably a hardware failure. But you can also try to download a stock rom. Then remove your sim and sd card. Go into the bootloader, select fastboot and then run the ruu on your pc.
If you still have the same problem you have a hardware failure.
cant enter boot loader as well
I have almost the same prob here. my phone is dead and after going to boot loader and want to flash a stock rom,the phone does not recover after RUU wanting it to reload bootloader

I get the feeling that it's to do with hardware as well...
I extracted rom.zip from a stock ROM and tried flashing via SD card, but it either comes up as invalid CID or freezes altogether after 'Parsing PB99IMG.zip'

Exactly same error at my end to... cid error both with rom.zip n Rom.exe please help us... pleasre
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
If you have a cid error, then you have the wrong rom. Cid means that if you are branded, you can only flash branded roms. For example, if your carrier is vodafone, you should flash a vodafone stock rom. Otherwise you will get that error.

Desire Bricked?

Ok, will give you as much detail as I can, hopefully someone can help.
My Desire is suffering from the rebooting constantly problem. Now, I have to send it back to T-Mobile so I though before I done so, I should put the correct Rom on it.
I downloaded all the T-Mob ones I could find, and not of them worked, two were the wrong bootloader version and two just had errors on start up.
Bootloader 0.83.0001 btw.
Anyway, not sure what has happened next but now when I try to turn my Desire on it just hangs on the white HTC start up screen. So i tried Power + Vol down to go into recovery and it does the same, stick on the white HTC screen.
I have taken the SD card out to try this and it has no effect, it's the same as the above.
At a loss now as to what to do, is the phone totally broke or is there some way that I can recover it?
Any help muchly appreciated.
Edit - Is there a way of flashing the RUU directly to the phone to make it run on start up? OR am I talking gibberish?

did you HOLD DOWN(right way) the Vol Down + Power untill the fastboot screen appears or did you just press it?
Held it down and got into the bootloader screen, can see all the options but picking recovery just send me to the white HTC screen where it then sticks.

Sorry that I can't help you with the bootloader issue, but just a quick note for your future reference when you (hopefully) get the bootloader sorted: Bear in mind that there's a big difference between t-mobile in the UK and in the US. It's possible that you've downloaded and flashed a US-based t-mobile ROM which has made the phone unstable.
As far as I know, UK-based t-mobile handsets operate on the 900/1800/2100 MHz bands. In the US, t-mobile runs on 1700/1900/2100 MHz bands, so the ROM you've loaded may not actually be compatible with your hardware. This may or may not help you solve the problem / avoid it in future.
Good luck!
If u can get into bootloader n fastboot try n make a gold card n flash a ruu that way.
If even try using unrevoked again n c how far u get
Device HTC Desire
Rom RcmMixSv08
SD class 4 6.40gb fat32 / 1gb ext3
S OFF
Radio 5.11.05.14
Hboot 0.93.1000
custom hboot Alpharev Cm7
Recovery Alpharev Cmw 2.5.1.8
Fake Flash Cwm 3.0.0.5
IM thinking that flashing the ruu will sove all ur problems so no need to it send back
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
I think u have to unroot ur device first. This hapens to me before n I just do the step i give u down. It will help u but u have to get the correct ruu file for ur device
1. Reboot your HTC Desire into bootloader mode by turning the phone off then pressing the power button while holding down the volume down button.
2. Select “Fastboot” and hit power button.
3. Connect your HTC Desire to your computer and make sure “Fastboot USB” comes on the HTC Desire.
4. Just download the RUU file and run.
Thats it u r now unrooted ur device should start up as like u first turn it on. Sorry for the bad english.
i would recommend flashing a new recovery first via fastboot before trying RUU (though it is a good suggestion as well). If you can get to fastboot, you just need to download whatever recovery image you use, connect your phone via usb and use:
fastboot flash recovery C:\wherever_you_put_it\wahtever_image.img
Recovery can become corrupt too just like anything else on the phone..

boot loop - probably bricked

Hello,
I wanted to debrand my htc wildfire s, and after many unsuccessful attempts (main version older) following other tutorials on the forums, I finally went to this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1162971
Followed it step by step, everything was as expected until the flash in the end finished and the phone, instead of booting, entered boot loop.
Now when I try to boot it or to enter bootloader, the backlight turns on for a second, turns off after that, then again turns on for a second, off... and etc. It doesn't even show the HTC screen. When I turn it off and connect it to usb - it charges.
I am already assuming the worse, but if anyone has any ideas, it will be great, as this is my girlfriend's phone and I can already see the tears in her eyes when she understands the phone is dead... :'(
Can you get the phone into hboot?
Pull battery,
then put it back in,
then hold volume down and press power while still holding volume down
If luck is on your side you should be in hboot
Unfortunately I have tried that already - still the same backlight on / off / on ... loop. :-/
Try battery out, back in, connect USB, then try to boot into bootloader. See if your PC picks it up. If it does try to issue the fastboot command "fastboot reboot recovery" and see if it goes.
Also does it vibrate when its having its flashy seziure?
sent from my android powered beast!
Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion. Tried that also - unfortunately - no vibration (qualcom diagnostics seems to not be the case - unfortunately).
Connecting it to usb brings the orange "charging" light for a 5-10 secs, after that the phone tries to boot and enters the bootloop again.
I think after 5 HTC phones, I will finally have one matching my avatar... :'-(
Hmm. Does the PC pick it up at all?

Whoa, I wouldn't be so hasty. Try taking your old one to a service first, it'll cost you a lot less
@johnnyspritz
I am thinking about sending it back to repair, the phone is still under the 2 years warranty. However if they find a way to read the contents of the boot or system partition (JTAG?), they might have some arguments against applying the warranty :-D
Hi Simaka,
Like you my phone is in the same boot loop....
Can't access to Bootloader, no HTC Logo.
I have try to contact HTC, but the mail they send me was out of context ....
If you find any solution, please share it ;-)
Hi, for sure I will. For now I will try to return it in the shop where I bought it as it is still s-on and locked bootloader, so they might agree to take it back. I checked the possibility to buy JTAG connection equipment, but it amoints to 150€ with shipping, plus probably a month or 2 of troubleshooting...
One interestimg thing to note is that during the procedure described on the link above the current rom version in misc.img before editing it was 9.9.9.9
I believe this was a way of artificially imposed restriction so any attempt to update would fail...

HOX bricked help to flash (no ROM in sd card)

ok i got my phone bricked since i change some fonts ¬¬ yeah its stupid but its done, my htc stays in HTC ONE X splash screen
1.- i already did wipe cache & dalvik (i dont want to try full restore yet)
2.- i cant access to the SD card to put the ROM.zip into it
any idea on how to bring it to life again?? (without losing data)
ok i did a full reset and now its showing only ANDROID label (splash screen) and thats all u.u still bricked, any idea????
is there any way to flash from PC i mean having ROM on PC i dont have it on my HTC
flash lastest clockworkmod and you can mount USB from recovery, copy rom and install as normal.
Sent from my Transformer TF101
@vorticalbox tweet me
what the latest version i got 5.8.4.0 i think this is the latest but i dont know hot to mount USB :/
Yep that's the latest version. Flash it via fastboot:
Put the recovery.img in your fastboot folder and rename it to "recovery.img", then open a command prompt and:
cd..
cd..
cd fastboot
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Now extract the boot.img from the ROM you want to flash on your PC, and copy it to your fastboot folder and:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then boot into recovery and:
Go to mounts and storage
Choose Mount USB Storage
Copy ROM to your phone
Factory reset
Wipe Dalvik cache
Choose Zip from SD Card
Flash Rom
Reboot and enjoy
If this doesn't work, you'll have to boot into flastboot mode and run the RUU for your phone.
Either way, it's not 'BRICKED'.
Just make sure your battery doesn't go below 30% before you fix it or it will be much more difficult to recover (but not impossible).
It's impossible to totally brick an S-ON One X as whatever happens, you can always get into fastboot mode.

Dudes, when its stuck in start up logo doesn't mean its bricked. It's bricked when you can't turn it on or go into bootloader. Please don't use "bricked" to describe every problem you encounter please.

That is true. What's more I was stupid enough to flash kernel to totally different phone (One XL). Luckily my stupidity was spared this time.
I hope OP will repair his phone too.
Like I said, it's pretty much impossible to 'BRICK' an S-ON device.
What about If you flash a Ron intended for a different phone, doesn't this change the layout of system positions? Or I'm just being stupid and you need s-off to mess things up like that?

Flash the newest CWM Recovery. Or any recovery with that you can use the option "advanced restore". Now Backup your Rom> wipe everything> restore>advanced restore>restore data only

OK, I am trying to help my sister with her HTC 1X. It will not turn on whatsoever. I hold down the power button, nothing. I hold down the power and one of the volume buttons (up or down), nothing. I hold down the power button and both of the volume buttons, nothing.
I have hooked it up to my laptop because I was able to find some drivers for the device and some files that will allow me to root it, should I be able to get the phone to do anything. Anyway, the only thing I get is a message from Windows saying that the device has malfunctioned and that I should disconnect it and reconnect it or replace the device.
I've scanned through several of the threads but cannot seem to find anyone with as legitimately bricked a 1x as my sister has. I am used to rooting and ROMing Samsung devices and thought I would lend a hand by trying to help out with this HTC device but I cannot get it to even show up in MY Computer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, thanks for the response!

We cant fix this, even I tried to troubleshoolt but no luck. You have to contact HTC service and claim warranty. So you will get a new device. Very shame on HTC 10 design, One of my friends who was in HTC service centre has seen atleast 12 HTC 10 devices sent for bootloop issue.
