Hello all,
Sorry if this was answered before but couldn't find. I tried the doubleshoot rom and switched radio from g2 to DHz hboot for the extra space which contains the DesireZ Engineering HBOOT, Clockwork Recovery, the latest T-Mobile radio.
How can I switch it back. Just flash ota again?
Anyone? 11
Do a search in the dev forum. Someone posted a thread there a long time ago.

how would i flash the G2 eng Hboot if i flashed the desire z hboot???
In theory, you could just follow part in the G2/DZ wiki that refers to installing the hboot. You flash using adb or terminal emulator.

You think if i wanted to unroot i would be able to with the dz hboot
No matter which eng hboot you have your still going to need the hboot your phone shipped with. I have never really read the unrooting guides but I would imagine that one of the steps would be flashing the original hboot

Read the CyanogenMod Wiki.
If we could get a definitive topic (like this one) that just laid out exactly how to return to your correct hboot WITHOUT unrooting and all that crap, i know lots of people would be happy. I know i know the directions are buried on page 4095732096578 in some topic, but a dedicated thread with exact directions on how to return a g2 to the g2 eng hboot (WITHOUT UNROOTING AND FLASHING FULL PC10IMG'S) would make alot of people happy, and less weary about flashing the new roms we are getting. Just my 2 cents that aint worth ****.

agreed... if someone made a pc10img.zip file with the g2hboot and radio would make life easier

Welcome to the Vision Forums
The DZ hboot will work fine with any other roms and will be essential for all future virtuous releases.
Using the DZ hboot increases the size of the system partition meaning that larger roms will fit on to the phone. Sense 3.0 roms are huge and if you use the G2 hboot its very difficult to get the roms to fit on to the phone. There are guides dotted around the forums if you ever needed to return to the stock hboot.
Changing the hboot to the dz one wont hurt. It simply changes how much space is divided between system and data.
You should be all set if u us the dz hboot and it would guarantee that you can use all the roms from the g2/dz forums.

Was curious, if u use a superwipe while using the dz hboot willit wipe the wrong partitions?

No, not that I'm aware of any way. I've used it with both hboots. And never had any issues.

Ty guys. I did hit the thanks button if your wondering.
lol you're welcome. It's a breath of fresh air for someone who actually makes an effort to read and not act self entitled. If you have any other questions that you can't find an answer to, I can try to help you with what I know (not that it's alot, but I can probably handle the mid level questions)
Really need help selling desire today and need to unroot it, its s-off so im guessing I need to flash the hboot downgrader table first? Does this change the Rom at all?
Also which RUU to flash the list on here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667 I have no idea which one to flash I brought my desire on eclair 2.1 and im on radio32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.08 atm need it put back on froyo to sell .
My desire was brought unbranded from the UK .
Thanks for you help and sorry for the noob question wont be posting on these forums again so you never hear from my nooby self again!
Hboot has nothing to do with the Rom. It depends when you s-offd as to whether you.need to use the downgrader. What hboot version is it?
You want the 2.29.405.5 RUU

on cm7v2 atm so will I need to use downgrader on alpharev site ?
And this one?
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00. 32U_5.11.05.27_release?
Thanks for help
Yes to both

Moving to Q&A
Sorry about that
Finally got it to work, couldn't get the dam thing to work over the RUU so had to navigate the temp found and pull the rom out. All done now and ready to sell !
Thanks to SU! Legend
Hi all, so I've been trying to update my hboot from 0.75.0000 to .93 but have been FAILING miserably. I'm currently on ICS, and have tried alpharev which didn't work. Trying to flash rom to RUU has also failed but I don't know why. Flashed my radio to match the one with the RUU and that didn't work, which i'm guessing is due to the inability to simply flash from ICS to 2.2 or 2.3?
So my question is, any other tips?
Try to flash the hboot downgrade from alpharev then the right RUU. If that works you can root and s-off your phone with unrevoked/revolutionary. If you want to change hboot to cmr7 or data ++ (example) you MUST be s-off......

Thanks for tip, I've actually done alpharev and it also failed. Reason being it needs a rom that doesn't already have a2sd, any suggestion as to which rom is suitable?
Thanks
Edit: I've actually online done the hboot reflash, and not the downgrade. Will give that a go first and see what happens.
I think that all the rooted roms have some sort of a2sd, that's why I think you have to start from the beginning. Start with an original ruu.bring it back to its original state wich came out of the box...my knowledge doesn't reach that far ;-) its the easyest way I think.

Can you post your complete bootloader. Turn of phone, hold down volume and press power. What info does the left upper corner give you ?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
It is:
BRAVO UNKNOWN SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.75.0000
MICROP-031D
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-4.05.00.11
MAR 5 2010,21:12:15
Still I think what's best is to go back all the way and install a ruu. Then go directly to revolutionary. It will root and s-off your phone and installs the custom hboot.
Maybe I have more time to help tonight, I am at work now :-(

That's what I'm thinking too, hence why I'm trying to flash an RUU onto the device. I however get this error when I do it
Error[140]: Bootloader version error
The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again
I conclude that the downgrade did not work ?

It didn't and wouldn't cause my phone is still on S-On, I'm however dling some newer RUU so fingers crossed that helps.
Ah yes ofcourse. There is a stickie in the Q & A section here that has info and troubleshooting. Maybe point 3 and 4 can give you some more info !

Is it possible that your phone is branded by provider, in that case you have to create a goldcard first. I have no experience in this. Hopefully I am pointing you to the right direction.

Hey there, firstly I would like to thank you for ALL your help and of course the effort you've put in it.
I've actually fixed it by firstly going to page ~16 of the android development forum for the desire, get an old rom, flash it in and then performed the alpharev. Lo and behold it worked because the rom is reasonably old and a2sd was "new" then. Flashed it back to ICS now and I am proud to announced that I S-OFF'ED!!! Partition done and OFF I GO.
That's great !!!! Have fun with your fixed desire )))

@bjornzzz Any suggestion on which rom you flashed. I've arrived at this boot loader while going back to stock from alpharevx hboot / ics rom.
Flashing an Ruu before flashing the alpharev downgrade didn't help much. LOL
Hi guys, after using so many roms on my USA G2 I want to go back to the sense rom that came with the desire z (sense 2.1,). The main thing is using the main RUU method is not something I want to do cos I can loose root and S-Off, worst of all my radio could go back and my hboot f**ked up
Now the Qs
Can I extract the rom only and flash it in cwm leaving out radio and hboot part.
Also how easy will it be going back to root since I know the stock is not rooted and I have to do so.
And can I flash a kernel on top after rooting?
The ROM I want is desire z last gingerbread update sense 2.1
I don't wanna use those ginger sense roms here cos most have problems just want real stock ............. I have root with s-off desire z hboot and .19 radio on my g2.....any help......
Am on ma cell so the typing ain't good.......sorry

Will my hboot , radio and s- off change
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
If you flash as is you will
Extract system from the pc10img.zip, only flash that
Do not flash a pc10.img without knowing what's in it, you can easily brick your phone. In this case if you were to flash a shipped rom with the shipped hboot, radio, recovery etc, you would probably end up with a brick
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Flashing an RUU will change your hboot, radio and recovery.
If you used gfree and got true S-OFF it will not change that.
You could try flash this rom, it should be an untouched rom like you want, flashable in cwm
Otherwise I would recommend using Virtuous Sense which is based off stock with just some minor improvements.
