Here you go: Gingerbread Downgrade & Root
still nothing, because I can unlock with that :S
Just follow the aforementioned guide on downgrading and rooting. Once you're done with that you can just follow one of the other guides on there to unlock the CID.
For Example: Unlock CID
*Scroll down to the section on how to debrand and follow the instructions for method 1
*edit: not quite true, CID unlock is covered earlier in the thread, but its in there

Could you please rephrase this or elaborate on why the guide didn't work for you. I can't make out what the problem seemed to be.
Once you have downgraded your phone according to the guide i posted above, you can go about rooting your phone using gfree (For example you could follow the instructions from the xda wiki, but there are many other how-tos on this: Root/Super-cid...)
If you go the way of gfree, the way I understand it, you will automatically end up with root as well as the supercid.
Edit: Should go without saying, but please do read every guide before following through on the steps, as this is obviously a delicate procedure that isn't risk free
this guid don't work at all, because can't match the keys... I can downgrade, this guide only work if you are on android 2.2
and other guid for scanning keys don't work too :S...I already post on thread
Dude the guide works fine, follow the instructions
Go to here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912 and read carefully. You Should be able to downgrade to 2.2 fine and then you can unlock everything
what i'm trying to say...that method doesn't work with me...I got error or freeze

Where are you typing the adb commands ? A common mistake is to run "adb shell" and then run the "adb push" etc at the $ prompt, which is actually a command prompt on your phone, so it won't work and will give you "permission denied".
What error message are you getting from the "insmod" command exactly ?

You don't need to run insmod if you're using gfree, because gfree has got that functionality inside it already.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...Phone.2C_Set_SuperCID.2C_and_Turn_Radio_S-OFF and follow the procedure there.

Yes, if you're already rooted you can just use gfree via that link that I posted, which assumes you are already rooted. No need to undo what you've done already.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Background for an excellent explanation as to why "radio S-OFF" is much better, and safer, than the "fake" S-OFF through the eng hboot.
i seem to be having problems too but i have permissions and get SU
i seem to be having issues with gfree not giving s-off. have eng hboot installed and perm rooted.

Hi people.
I realize that the usual response to threads like this is "read the forum" but I honestly have, I've tried several guides but I get no luck.
So if anyone would please help me out, it would be much appreciated and maybe helpful for others.
The way I've understood things is that I need to
1. Temproot
2. Downgrade using a goldcard.
Using this guide
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1152233
I think I've managed to temp root;
1. Temproot:

I do get kicked back to the command prompt, but if I type "adb shell" I do get the "#" that I'm supposed to be getting.
Right - so far so good, right?
2. Downgrade
As instructed in the guide, I run the commands as follows
C:\DHDDowngrade>adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
1288 KB/s (15837 bytes in 0.012s)
C:\DHDDowngrade>adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
C:\DHDDowngrade>adb shell /data/local/tmp/misc_version -s 1.31.405.3
--set_version set. VERSION will be changed to: 1.31.405.3
Patching and backing up partition 17...
Error opening input file.
C:\DHDDowngrade>adb reboot bootloader
There is an error here, but I haven't found anyone else having this problem, and don't even know if it really is a problem.
So I've ignored it, and continued on creating a coldcard.
I've tried using Goldcard manager from the market, I've tried retrieving the reverse CID manually. I've pasted the data from the generated image file onto the card and saved. A few times I've not been able to paste PD98IMG.zip on to the card afterwards, giving me the error that the card must be formatted to work, but lastly it would let me copy. If I try reading the card, I do get the error that the card has to be formatted. My HTC also tells me theres something wrong with the SD card. I've ignored this, and booted into the bootmanager. For a split second theres a green text saying something i along the lines of "PD98IMG image not found".
And so it ends, I can't get any further.
So the questions summarized are;
1.Is this the correct order?
2.Am I rooted, even if I have to type "adb shell" to get the "#"?
3.When dowgrading, is the "Error opening input file" fatal?
4.Is the card supposed to be unreadable after pasting the hex data onto it?
Sorry for the neverending post, but getting a custom rom onto my Desire HD has been very, very hard. Unsuccesful so far. Please help me out
Best regards from Norway.
Hi there noticed no one has replied I have plenty of time to help you out the best I can. I recently did this last week and had no problems. Im still learning myself so sorry if i am not the best of help.
wow long post
After skimming your post I did notice something. I pretty sure that you need to create a gold card first. If you still have problems creating a GoldCard get back to me but here is the link:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-make-gold-card-for-htc-desire-hd/
I then followed this tutorial to downgrade:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
and then use the s-off tool :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537
hope that helps, get back to me if you need help.
I used these two guides when rooting my DHD, I also had to use a goldcard but the link for that is in the downgrade page below.
1. Downgrade
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
2. Root + Radio installation + Rom installation
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11557769
As far as I know, the two links above are the correct order, as long as you get the # its safe to proceed and the card should be usable after you make it into a goldcard, at least I still use mine. Oh, and you shouldn't receive any errors throughout the process, it might not be fatal but why take a chance.

But TheJokaH's one-click method seemed intriguing so I decided to give this one.last.shot. And it worked!

Hi all
I have a European HTC Desire Z with this info:
Android 2.3.3
Sense 2.1
Build 2.42.495.2

MicroP-0425

I am able to temproot this phone with the method provided here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15851661&postcount=1
using the code:
Code:
$ /data/local/tmp/fre3vo -debug -start FAA90000 -end FFFFFFFF
However the downgrading part fails on me.
After entering the bootloader menu is scans the SDCARD and finds the PC10IMG.zip
telling me: loading...[PC10IMG.zip], after that it's saying: Checking..[PC10IMG.zip].
After checking it just goes back to the Menu without asking me to update etc.
I did however changed the misc_version and followed the guide precisely.
I searched and found some Threads saying this version isn't rootable yet. though they were couple months old, and I am able to get temp root. it should be do-able right?
Can someone please confirm this and tell me how to, or what i'm doing wrong and let this baby free.
I followed the guide to the letter, without changing misc_version or anything, and I managed to downgrade and root without problems on first try. Same version as you, Desire Z bought in Poland.

What file are you referring to here?
Also, how is it possible to downgrade without changing the misc_version, i thought it was all about changing that in order to make it work haha.
Sorry, I think I misunderstood your post...
I did this to change misc_version:
Code:
$ adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp/misc_version
$ adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
$ adb shell
# /data/local/tmp/misc_version -s 1.00.000.0
I assumed you changed the "1.00.000.0" to something else (while browsing the forum I found in some threads that people used a different value on DZ).
As for the file I was referring to, I meant the stock rom image - 1.34.405.5_PC10IMG.zip
Maybe you grabbed the file "PC10IMG_Vision_TMOUS_1.19.531.1_Radio_12.21.60.09 b_26.02.01.15_M2_release_149459_signed.zip", which is for G2?
Other than that, I'm not familiar enough with the bootloader to be of any help.

I redownloaded the zip file and you just made my day i had a other zip from another thread. but with the exact same name.. maybe corrupted ? THANKS!
Radio's get flashed AFTER you flash your ROM, not before ;P
Remember to rename your PC10IMG.zip to something else after you're done rooting/installing a new ROM, cos if anything happens and your phone crashes and you need to enter recovery, having PC10IMG.zip on the root of your SD will ensure that you never get into recovery
Power + Vol Down boots into bootloader, and it automatically scans for updates, PC10IMG.zip being one of them. Only when there are no update files on SD root will it give you a choice of booting into Recovery to well, recover your phone
I have a droid incredible that I recently found out how to unlock and I would like to flash a ROM but on the offical thread that I followed I unlocked it but when I got to the recovery part when it asked me to list devices it didn't show any And I'm not able to do the rest of the stuff either thanks for the help

Not exactly, the drivers in the link are modified from the ones in the sdk. If installed correctly with the phone plugged in, under device manager there will be an android bootloader interface entry.

It is probably physically broken. You can try to flash an ruu and see if it takes, but im thinking a needed portion of your flash memory has been damaged or corrupted beyond repair.
I saw ruu on how to unlock the bootloader. I have tired looking it up but nothing comes up .

Download and place this file http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Images/4.08.605.15/PB31IMG.zip on your sdcard in no folders, do not rename it. Then boot to hboot (vol down + power), it should find the file and prompt you to press vol up to install. If it dosent find the file, you may need to reformat the sdcard fa32 and then try again.
Thanks I'll try this tomorrow hope it works! I just only want to flash a ROM I think the stock is very ugly

This device either does not support the fre3vo exploit, or this
account lacks permission to access the required devices.

when trying the htc dev bootloader did you get as far as unlocking your bootloader? if you did you need to relock it. also when you type "adb devices" do you get "emulator-5554 device" has it always done that? you should get a serial # not an emulator, and the first command
adb shell cat /dev/msm_rotator
if you get anything but
/dev/msm_rotator: invalid length
this guide wont work until this is fixed so no point going further

- fastboot devices is giving me the serial no but with adb i'm not getting it.
- /dev/msm_rotator: invalid length - I've put the result before, it wasn't work.
- On the HTCDEV , I'm getting the command error for the fastboot unlock command.
Good, don't unlock with fastboot, htc offial unlock is garbage if you can get true soff
Get rid of the emulator, turn it off, uninstall whatever, you don't need it unless your a developer and I'm guessing your not
Adb is only detecting the emulator not your phone, either bad drivers, bad usb, debugging turned off, I don't know what your missing but you need to get adb working right. If fastboot is working then chances are you have it installed on computer, make sure you either add a path in enviromental variables or change directories to the place you have adb.exe and fastboot.exe installed, normally platform-tools
Debugging has to be turned on, phone needs to be booted into os and not connected as a storage device, you need to trouble shoot your adb issue or you won't go any further, I suggest a guide on installing adb correctly, I made one for fastboot back when (same concept) if your having trouble I can link you that guide or one of the many other ones

This shows the device you're accessing with adb is already rooted, and running an android 4.x rom
-Nipqer
That's because the device connected is an emulator not a phone
@nipqer, out of curiosity how do you know it running 4.x from that output?
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
because its got '[email protected]:/ #'
if it were 2.x or lower, it would just be a #

Adb Issues
I will try first to resolve ADB issues, then try to follow the guide.

I will try first to resolve ADB issues, then try to follow the guide, I've given the phone to HTC support center "technocare" in Dubai,
may be they tried to do something to root. But as per them need to change the board, which is half of the cost of a phone.
