CaseMate Tough or Neo Hybrid? - Which is Thinner? - Galaxy S II Accessories

Hey.
Am wondering what's the thinner case, or are they both basically the same?
Thanks.

Hi,
I have both, and the SGP Neo Hybrid is thinner, but less protective than the CM Tough

Neohybrid for me.

neo hybrid is thinner by far

CM tough is a better case though

How Hard is it to clean under the edges of the SGP Neo Hybrid, around the screen? I know dust and dirt build up under there, but do I need to remove the case to clean it?
Also wondering if this case hits the ground I know the rubber will protect the phone, but is the hard part of the case prone to crack? if the case is only good for one drop it's not the case for me. Not that I ever drop my phone, I just don't like having to worry about damaging the phone or the case...
Wondering because I'm thinking of getting the SGP Neo Hybrid or the Ultra Capsule. And I know the Ultra Capsule is easy to remove and clean.
Thanks,

The Hybrid plastic is really thin so if you dropped it there is a good chance it would break. Taking it off and on is ok, but you have to be careful because the plastic is flimsy.

The Neo Hybrid is definitely the nicer looking of the two by far, but my Neo Hybrid case already has a crack in the plastic which makes me weary.

CaseMate Tough is probably the thickest case for sgs2.

...and probably the best :-D

[Q] SGP Neo Hybrid or SGP ultra capsule

I have a few questions regarding this.
The hybrid's front screen lip (that covers the silver rim on the front), does it get loose over time since its made of silicone?
Is the polycarbonate (coloured hard part) easily scratchable?
Does the ultra capsule have a perfect fit on the international version of the SGS2?
The Hybrid has a polycarbonate outer casing that tightens the silicone part so no worries there.
Same question as above about the lips of the capsule too.
Thanks a bunch!
Go for Neo Hybrid bro. The lips is ok for me. No sign of loose.
I only used Neo Hybrid for a week, I guess I can't really speak the durability but after a week of usage (I change battery everyday which means I need to take off and take on the case at least 2 times a day).
the silicon lips are still intact, no any sign of wear off or changing shape, I guess the material is great.
go for it : )
only complaint on the Neo Hybrid is the outer rim only a thin flimsy plastic, I guess it gonna crack or break overtime if you change battery everyday like me.
otherwise, you would be safe.

its made from silicone and its fine..i use the case for over a month and its fine..
the lips of the capsule are smaller..and a bit loose yes..
I'm using the Neo Hybrid for 13 days now.
The silicone haven't got a sign of loose, it does attract some dust but can easily be cleaned off by a wiping it with your hands. However the inner part of the silicone, which have contact with your phone, collect dust and very difficult to clear them off.
If you remove your battery often it is not recommended to use Neo Hybrid, I find it quite hard to take off because of the outer plastic frame. Overall it is quite good.
For thos of you who got the Neo Hybrid, do you think it will fit a Nexus GSM with a Ghost Armor skin?
i dont know which one to get the Neo Hybrid or the Ultra Hybrid, can someone help me need to order fast...
I use a neo hybrid too, for two months something, and so far, no sign of bagging on the silicone part.
If you don't remove it often, the plastic seems durable enough.
It all fits tightly and even accomodate the samsung extended battery. There is some slight bagging under the camera optics though (with the extended battery). But, really, it's minor.
I was in doubt about the bulk it and the battery adds compared to a naked vanilla phone but I got used to it pretty fast.
All in all, very nice case.

Speck candyshell or SGP NEO Hybrid?

I finally came down to 2 choices for cases only find out that both cases suffer from problems.
Speck with the cracking and the NEO hybrid with the sagging.
What to do now?
It is my understanding from reading the speck candyshell thread is the cracking only applies to the one color (Pebble / Bayou), which happens to be the color I had (and it did crack, on 3 separate cases). My wife has the mint green speck candyshell and it's been fine.
I've been wondering the same thing, except tossing in a few other hybrid style cases
candyshell, neo hybrid, faxion, puregear slimshell
as far as I've heard...
candyshell may crack..and even if it doesn't, the candyshell scratch's like a mofo.
the neo hybrid possibly has button and sagging issues from what I've heard.
the faxion isn't very stylish imo and i hate the cutout in the back..and the puregear..meh...kind falls somewhere in between on the style imo and no reports of anything on it.
If i had to choose between the two case's you mentioned.... Idk... I think the speck wins in a form function kind of way...
The Candyshell only cracks on the bayou/pebble color, not on any of the others.
Using the soot/black one and no issues, looks great and the buttons are so easy to press.
The neo hybrid will not sag. They changed the material from the s2 cases. I have both cases and use the hybrid more. I have the dark grey speck case and the shining grass hybrid. I like the hybrid more for the looks and the thinness.

So which would be a better case? I'm in the same boat as the OP, unfortuntely I'm reading that the buttons on the SGP Neo Hybrid makes the actual buttons of the phone VERY SENSITIVE?

they've been rereleasing the neo hybrids with the button sensitivity fixed. Even if you do end up getting one of their older models you should be able to e-mail them and get an updated one for free.

Been using a black Speck CandyShell and it's great. No cracking. The glossy back will scratch and show loads of finger prints. But it's thin + good protection. You thought about the case-mate pop?

Thanks for the comment. Is the cracking problem still present with the Pebble/Buyou though?
I have never used speck candyshell but after using SGP neo hybrid I always go back to Samsung's protective case. Neo hybrid has no grip due to matte finished back and just wasn't comfortable for me in my hands.

How do I know if the one I'll buy is not an "old" stock?
I have a Speck Candyshell, and have actually been thinking about purchasing a Neo Hybrid to replace it.
Liked:
- Feels great
- Looks great
Don't like:
- Back scratches easily
- Rubber on the edges (biggest problem)
I think Speck should have gone with TPU instead of rubber. The rubber attracts lint, makes it harder to slide in/out of pockets/holsters, and it has started to rub off on the top of mine. The rubbed off rubber results in litter specks of rubber getting on the screen, and are a pain to clean off. That was the deal-breaker for me.
I'm currently using a cheap Fosomon case, which isn't too bad.

As long a you buy it from an authorized reseller or speck themselves it's not the old stock. They told me to make sure if I buy it from amazon that it is shipped and old by amazon themselves.

Impressions of Spigen Ultra Slim and Slim Armor

So both of the cases arrived from amazon today and I have some first impressions on how they fit on my panda nexus 5.... Haven't seen anyone review the ultra slim, and I'm surprised more of you weren't interested in the ultra slim since it maintains the nice hardware of the nexus 5. The only problem with those super slim cases is they really don't offer drop protection, only scratch / ding protection.
Ultra FIT - SUPER slim fit however the case could be tighter around the phone, its not coming out, but the corners of the case can slide off the nexus pretty easily. I love how the original volume buttons and power button are both exposed as they feel great to me. The matte texture is incredibly high quality feeling but leaves finger prints like crazy. I think the white one is probably the way to go (the jury is out on how dirty the black will look due to the texture). Anyways, very classy case, the slim armor is VERY BLOCKY compared to this svelte piece.
Slim Armor - yes the reviews are right, I don't think SPG made these cases properly - I spent 5 minutes trying to get the case fitting without the power button being overly sensitive but at this point its just not useable. If my finger glides over the power button with ANY amount of pressure, it gets triggered. That's just not acceptable to me. Also, the white part of the case is VERY slick, I almost wish SPG would make a slim case in the feel of the black part.
Neo Hybrid users - does the black back finger print like crazy? I'm wondering if its the same texture as the ultra slim.
Pictors for you guys...
...received n5 yesterday and ultra slim armor, notice same problem with power button WAY too sensitive... Doing what little adjustments that are possible(w/o physically modifying the case/button cover) make it only slightly better...
[EDIT]
Also received their ultra hybrid case today. Seems pretty cheap v. the slim armor, and the back(mine at least) ISN'T even remotely clear, try milky. Not happy to start with this one let alone putting it on the n5... the poetic true bumper may be what I end up with...

Yep - and let me guess, your slim armor is white? I wonder if there's an issue with the white plate being too stiff?
By the way, the other case is actually called "ultra fit" - my bad.

Have you removed the 2 protective films on either side of the clear back plate?
This is missed by so many people and without taking them off it gives the impression it is a foggy milky look.
hmm.... i think i might slap a dbrand black leather or carbon fiber on the back of the spigen ultra slim. any thoughts on how that might work?

Do you mean the Ultra Hybrid with the clear back? If so, then that should work fine. The dbrand rep also said that front skins should fit nicely with the Ultra Hybrid, too.
I'm not sure why you'd want a skin if the case isn't clear, though.

I received the reverse. I got the Slim Armor in black and the ultra fit in white for my black N5. The Slim Armor is going back to Amazon today as it had the power button issue. The Ultra Fit is excellent though. At first I thought it was going to be a bit slippery for grip, but it's actually quite good. Also, as you suspected, the white does not show any finger prints. I don't have any problems with the corners on mine either.

I have a slim armor coming tomorrow... Hopefully I don't need to send it back.
I do currently have a white ultra fit on the phone. The case is great for the most part. I do think the edge near the usb port and speakers is too sharp. I regularly have my finger irritated by that edge. The case also marks too easy. I set the phone in my cup holder in my car and there are permanent scuff marks on the back. It was in there no longer than 10 minutes and did not slide around.

I have the slim armor and If i looked at the button to hard it would unlock - that's how freaking sensitive it was. I readjusted the case on the power side and it definitely feels a bit better and less snug, but I still think its too easy.
but i do agree that it might not sit on the button properly - i think it's half corrected the issue in my case
I have Slim Armor, sort of a love/hate thing.
I modified the power button to where I like the feel now, which meant slicing off almost 1/2 mm of rubber on the inside of the rubber button, taking a file to the interior edges of the plastic, and smoothing them so the rubber button doesn't hang up.
The edges around the charging port are super sharp, I usually hold my pinky under the bottom of the phone, and its already sore. I tried filing the edges down a bit to smooth them, but the hard rubber is not giving up.
I have had very good luck with the feebay "s-line" tpu cases, just ordered one with a kickstand. Even though they are some of the cheapest cases around, they are very grippy, not very bulky, and who doesn't love a kickstand? Surprisingly they also are pretty good as far as drop protection.
I have the Slim Armor and it's also a love/hate thing. The power button annoys me... I don't ever get my confident on/off press. Sometimes it's firm and I know it was pressed and sometimes it's soft and not sure. What high quality case that's similar to the slim armor do you guys recommend with a solid build? Thanks guys.

[REQ] Spigen Neo Hybrid Case "After a while review"

Hi im looking to decide between the Spigen Neo Hybrid and Spigen rugged armor. I have read many reviews but none of them seems legit, so any user who have any of these cases please confirm this for me:
SPIGEN NEO HYBRID:
1. Does the sides of the plastic bumper tuns yellow after a while of use like a month or two? and if it does looses its color can i buy the bumper separately?
2. Does it provide better protection on drops as compared to the rugged armor?
SPIGEN RUGGED ARMOR:
1. Is the case too slippery?
2. How is the drop protection on this case?
I'm looking for protection over looks so please help me make a valid choice, and if you think that both the cases sucks feel free to suggest me the one you prefer.
Thanks in advance.
Hi, I have the Spigen Rugged Armor, this case is good looking if you don't mind that the OnePlus logo is hidden with this case. This case also have a good grip and good drop protection.
I once dropped my 3T while using this case with the screen facing down the concrete. Fortunately, this case protected my screen from shatter. I recommended you get this case if you spend majority of your work outside office. Better safe than sorry.
I bought the Rugged Armor and I have to say I'm really impressed. It's thin, feels great and definitely isn't too slippery. The carbon fiber looks good too. The only issue is I'm not sure how much drop protection it would provide because like I say it is very thin. There's a lip over the screen but I can imagine the phone becoming disfigured underneath if it was dropped from an appreciable height. I'm usually quite careful though so I'm trying not to worry about that
Thanks for the reply guys I was slightly inclined towards the rugged armor my self, it looks frekin awesome. I'll go for it then.
Currently using the Spigen rugged armour as I was afraid of finger prints with the clear variant. Not as slippery as I expected and gives all the protection you need, saved my phone from a couple of drops and it is scratch free
I'm actually using both. I initially only had the rugged armor and then bought the Neo hybrid. I found with a glass screen protector the Rugged armor doesn't play well with it. With just a plastic screen protector the Neo hybrid looks really nice. I love em both though
I have one and it's not really a good "feel" for me. It's a great case, just not to my liking. I am rocking this one now: OnePlus 3T Case, OnePlus 3 Case, Nillkin Synthetic Fiber Premium Bumper Case Cover [Compatible with Magnetic Car Holder] for OnePlus 3T / 3 - Black. It's a lot like the OEM and fits great. With that and the LiquidSkin protector, I really like the slimness and the feel.
Been using the rugged armor for about a month.
- Not slippery
- Good protection
- Not too thick
- I think the CF is stupid. I want it plain.
9/10 would buy again.

Have had the OP3T with that case for 2 months now
1. No they don't. I just have one little scratch on the corner revealing a small white line (barely visible)
2. No idea since I haven't dropped the phone a single time. I can just say that the bumper makes the case kind of more slippery actually. Previously I rocked Spigen Ultra Hybrid on Nexus 5/Nexus6/Galaxy S6 and it was much more grippy. I felt much safer while for example on a bus, now I aim to hold it with two hands since I don't feel the grip this well. The Neo's advantage over Ultra Hybrid though, is the fact that the whole product is relatively soft and flexible so that it doesn't damage the device at all as UH used to with its back made of hard solid plastic.
9/10 very decent, non-bull**** and SOLID case anyway. Totally recommend it, the notices above are just the matter of my fussiness

Cases that protect the screen edges

Are there any cases that protect the screen edges as well, along the length of the phone?
Im Using the Spigen Neo Hybrid.. Covers the edges and corners really well.. only down side is No glass protector so far fits

To me the long screen edges of the phone on your picture look raised up higher than the case and exposed to possible impact.
Being using the Spingen Ultra Hybrid S for the past 4 days. covers the corners pretty well and comes with a kickstand which id very useful. Picked it up on ebay for less than $16. worth a try.
Got this one
It has a premium kickstand from Zenton, it is one heck of a deal for $7.95!!! On AMAZON!

According to pics noone knows what I am talking about or make better pics.

-Unicorn Beetle
-Caseology Vault
Trust me, from Note7 experience, this is very important.

I bought a Gear4 case in store for £29.99 because I wanted a case straight away but now realise that as big and rugged as it looks, the screen is raised above the edges so any side impact will shatter the screen.
Especially with how breakable s8 is:

It is not something to be taken for granted. Try it and let us know. A review did say it has raised edges but what the author means is not clear. Also this case for Note7 model did NOT protect the long edges.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MS7TMRY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
That one has the best edge protection I have found. I got the same case on my Note 7 and my S7E for the very reason that it comes up over the edges more than most cases.
I will say that it came up higher (actually taller than the main screen) on the Note 7. On the S8+ it doesn't come up quite as high on the sides, but still is far better than any other cases for protecting the sides short of a case that is so bulky it basically makes the phone twice as big as it is.
Had a clear thin Spigen case...finger prints were driving me crazy and did not feel safe with that case, so I just go the Spigen Tough Armor Galaxy S8 Plus Case with Kickstand and Extreme Heavy Duty Protection and Air Cushion Technology for Galaxy S8 Plus (2017) - Gunmetal from Amazon for $16.99. It feels good in the hand, has a great look (got over not seeing my orchard gray phone back) the cut out are for camera, finger print sensor and heart rate sensor makes it easy to find location to use finger sensor...do not fumble around trying to figure out where my finger goes...fast unlock. provides great clearance for phone face down.
Wireless charging works great with it....have not received my Gear VR yet, so do not know if case adds distance from face to change picture and degree view.
I do have a car holder that uses a magnet and a metal plate you put behind the case...the plate effect wireless charging...has been the case with other cases and phones.
Very happy with this case (have not tried a screen protector with it yet either)
Any new information here?

Lifeproof has a full envelope for $90 but I want the holster clip like my Otterbox. For now making due with a Defender, but leaning towards biting the bullet on the Lifeproof for the full screen protection.
I would suggest a Speck Presidio
Have one, awesome protection so dont worry it you drop it.
