Starting today developers can publish their apps to consumers in 19 new countries, in addition to the 16 that Marketplace already supports. The 19 new markets include Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, India, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden and Taiwan.

Unforunately it seams you have to do this manually, so if you have an app out there go to the AppHub -> Edit catalog details and submit it to the 19 new markets.
You can also submit apps from these new 7 countries as well;
Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel, South Africa and South Korea.

Yeah I know, but I haven't been able to add my new Visa card to my US Live account and I'd rather use my Xbox account anyway.
Just giving a heads up. I had no idea. I kept my liveID the same, but switched my Xbox account, and "discovered" a loss of my many paid apps. sux.

Ah only thought that happened when u changed your Live Id.
That does indeed suck.
So now you are able to use a swedish live ID and buy stuff from Marketplace? if so, im getting a panic attack because ive been waiting so long!

Yeah, but dev's have to submit them to the new markets, so it's probably going to take some time before most apps make it. Hope they get the Xbox live games out there soon enough.
I've added my apps to the new markets, but they haven't shown up just yet.
edit: ahh crap seams games isn't going to be added untill late August because of a new rating system.
Game developers please wait just a little longer. The App Hub is adding functionality to support game ratings and allowing developers to upload the associated rating certificates. Please be ready to publish your games to new Mango Marketplace markets in late August.

The best part is that we will have to wait late August to re-publish updates and new games to Germany and New Zealand too....
Way to go MS !!
Just a quick update, seams they've added Xbox Live games now, at least in Norway and Sweden, haven't check any others.
Things seams a little buggy, my htc hub vanished and I can't browse certain marketplace categories on the phone, but you can search for specific games.
The marketplace works fully on the desktop using Zune, bought a few Xbox Live games and other apps and it seams to be going ok.
edit: Forgot to mention that it only works when using the Mango beta, got an "marketplace not available in your region" when on Nodo.

I will be in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Czech Rep, Hungary and a few others soon
I would like to know if there is any good, inexpensive (free?) map software available for my device.
I currently have Osita GPS with a Pharos GPS reciever that works well. I have the Canadian maps only.
I installed pocket streets that came with Streets and Trips, which seems to work fine with the free maps the MS has available on their website, but these maps are only for metro cities, and only for some of the countries.
Suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks
Ian
No free solutions available I'm afraid, lots of good solutions although the Czech Republic and Hungary lack coverage. CoPilot and Navman are good pan-European Options. See our website for reviews and more.

Hi Ian,
I have been using TomTom navigator 2 & now 3 in all of Western Europe it is expensive, on 9 cd's and you have to buy it with one country which is then repeated when you buy the western Europe maps seperately! Rip off or what?!
It does not cover Hungary & Czech, for this you need the older TomTom Routeplanner, this will give you map view only (no Navigator) but will show your GPS position on the map.
I found pocket streets to be very difficult to use & to keep track on my position & used TomTom's older city mapping progam (sorry, forgot the name) before I got Navigator 3
I also use MS Autoroute 2004 with a seperate GPS receiver as it is very good to be able to spot if she is going to try to send me in some crazy direction!
I hope this helps, Safe travelling! 8)
Go to www.mapopolis.com
They do all their Maps for a 11 day trial time. Plan this installation around your holiday and download all the maps.
There you go..... !
Use EMULE or KAZAA or EDONKEY to download software as Tom Tom!!!
It isn't legal but ....
Davide
That's right, it isn't legal and will not only reduce the profits of the developers but curtial the devlopement of new features and products and result in ever more complicated registration and protection measures being implemented in future releases.
The unlicensed versions also have no access to service patches and services such as TomTom Traffic. If you can afford an XDA and a GPS receiver then you can afford the cost of the licensed software!
it's true but i think that some programs in so expensive!
it's not right to pay, for example, 500€ to buy a computer and to spend 600€ to buy windows xp pro+ office!
if the softwarehouse reduce the price, the people buy original sofware to have support!!
davide
Microsoft are a whole different case, I'm not attempting to defend their software costs but then there are plenty of alternatives that are just as good such as OpenOffice etc.
With GPS it's not a fair comparison, they pay huge licence fees to the map data providers (Navteq and TeleAtlas) and have much smaller potential sales than MS would. Besided a PocketPC costs anywhere from £200+, the GPS another £100+ yet the software on it's own in TomTom's case is less than £100.
There is good coverage of Czech Repubilc and Hungary in Destinator (which is a Canadian software by Paradigm). I have used only the Hungarian version but it has street maps of all Hungarian roads and all city streets as well.
Thanks for all your input everyone, it is appreciated.
I will check out some of the softwares mentioned here.

By browsing the different topics here and there I came to a cnclusion that we have now several release dates
So we have now:
-24th March
-26th March
-31th March
-1st April
-5th April
-6th April
-13th april
It seems that first countries to get it will be UK,France and Netherland and the last countries to get it will be Asian ones(protecting N1 sales?), passing by the Middle East right in the middle. But the most probable dates are 1st and 6th March which have been observed in amazon and expansys. Leaking Desires like the Legend could happen next week
My shop has 9th of April as delivery date for a month now. (Netherlands)

It's an official site from HTC and aswell as that, it knows your location (for me is counting down to 1st April).
I think unlocked handsets will be avaliable 1st April.

The countdown is independent of your location, it counts down to April 1st for everyone. If you click on the pre-register button you are sent to UK operators it seems, so it would be fair to assume that the countdown is for the UK release date.
I'm in Norway, and it seems we have to wait a few more days. Distributors seems to have a delivery date of April 8th here. Unfortunately...

The original site said Birmingham but now they've gone and updated it I just get London.
It's probably getting your location from your IP Address.
Are you sure?
I think only the weather app is working with the ip, it gives me Beirut but like all the others the launch date is set to 1st April and the pre-order page is for UK shops
Anyone dealt with HTC Direct? They are showing the Desire at £386.95 incl VAT http://www.htcdirect.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=789. It does say price is still to be confirmed but it took an order from me and the number available went down by 1.
Sounds a bit too good to be true but I paid by credit card for the security.
Website didn't say when they charge the card. I'm going to phone them tomorrow to see how they sound.
Done a whois and also checked that the VAT number check digits are correct so seems a legitimate business but are they any good?
I've heard next to nothing about who/where will be stocking Windows Phone handsets at launch tomorrow morning ... the only thing I've heard is the Orange store Oxford Street will be opening at 7am.
Anybody have news on who'll have SIM free HTC WP7 handsets tomorrow??
I've been trying to track down sim-free handsets myself and the best I've come up with is the Dell Venue Pro which is available to order from Clove, for delivery on the 8th November.
It's proving to be quite difficult to find sim-free phones, especially ones with a keyboard.
No news on high-street stores selling sim-free.
This is really annoying actually...
Big announcement from Microsoft 21st October lanuch in Europe !!! but no Carriers appear to be launching tomorrow... I called Orange the MAIN LAUNCH PARTNER and they say HTC Mozart next week and Samsung Omnia (Orange name will be Cetus) by the end of October... Their STAFF HAVE NO CLUE about WP7 and no details about 8gb or 16gb memory or prices or specific dates etc etc... They just said Nokia N8 confirmed for Friday and New HTC Androids also next week... F$%K knows whats going on!! ....... really good start Microsoft !!!!
I dont know about london but i know the Orange store in london is getting both omnia 7 and the mazart in tomorrow both are 8gb. The Fareham store (town nearer to me) said they will have stock arriving today for sale tomorrow but did not know what they where getting as it depends what there sent from main office.
I have seen some sim free deals around but cant remember off my head where as i will need a contract boo to being poor lol
O2UK have the HD7 in their "Coming Soon" list. Apparently expected 21st Oct
http://www.o2.co.uk/comingsoon/hd7
I called the Orange Store in Croydon they have no idea if WP7 handsets will be there tomorrow....
Thanks for all your replies - sadly it doesn't look like I've missed any launch day availability information then ... it certainly is frustrating.
I suspect pre-ordering online and waiting a few weeks for most of the handsets to ship will be the best option ... unfortunately.
Still hope to be surprised though!
Hey Guys
My friend going to Germany and I want him to buy for me me the Galaxy Nexus.
Since we do not know Germany (by the way,he is going into Munich), I'd Glad if anyone can help us and tell me where it will be possible to buy it on Nov 17 Germany, Munich
Thanks in advance!
P.S
I heard they sell it in Vodafon as sim-free, Is it true? If so, where it will be possible to buy it there?
Thank you!
Sorry if I went through the Forum Rules..
Hello, I'm from Germany and I would advise your friend to preorder it to a German postal address (by Amazon.de or cyberport.de). I doubt that Vodafone or O2 or even big stores like Media Markt/Saturn have this device exactly on the date of release in stock.
Also, I would suggest him to be there a bit longer (talking about 2-3 days) than just until the 17th as there is no guarantee he'll have it in his hands on exactly this date.
If anyone else has another idea, go ahead. But this are my best 2 cents I have.
Tell your friend to look for "Vodafone" and "O2" Shops, they have been confirmed to carry the Galaxy Nexus during the UK launch of the Galaxy Note.
You might want to look for "Debitel" Shops also since you can already pre-order the Nexus there (for a good price: 530€).
But none of them said they would get the Galaxy Nexus on the 17th yet.
Mobilcom-debitel is also selling the Galaxy nexus without branding or sim-lock for a very affordable 529,95€, you might want to check that out.
Nice to see a thread for German sales in particular. Does anyone know if the 32GB model will be for sale here in November?
Regards
qwer23
edit: Just re-read the post above mine and saw that this shop was already mentioned - sorry!
Back to the original question, will it be possible to buy it on the 17th or 18th of November? Because in Mobilcom-debitel it says you can only buy it from week 47 (November 21st)
The last time I wanted a SIM free phone at a German Vodafone shop, they wanted me to become a subscriber. No thanks.

You might be out of luck. It looks like week 47 is the earliest date to get the Nexus in germany. There are a few sites stating Nov 24 as release date (= week 47) but nothing more concrete has been made public.
Edit 2011-11-10:
Ok, now o2 germany also said they are expecting the Galaxy Nexus to arrive in week 47. https://twitter.com/#!/telefonica_de/status/134322435293057024

I just realized I have family in Munich. Does anyone know if an unlocked GSM is currently on sale there and what the price would be in American dollars?
Anyone know of any German sites that sell to the rest of the EU that can also actually be contacted?
Handyattacke.de simply won't respond at all and mobilcom-debitel.de seems to be domestic delivery only.

It should be available during the next few days. But I don't what is happening now because of the Volume bug. Most of the shops have the 2. December as a date.
The price would be something around this.

Thanks, but I know about expansys already and they are based in France if I remember correctly. They also charge more than Swedish stores and the release date seems to be the same. The reason I asked originally was because Handyattacke.de has a noticably lower price while the UK has a noticably higher price.

Apparently they will get it sometime during week 49.

Hi,
So I might be taking a trip to Germany in the end of December and was thinking maybe to get the GN while I am there. Because of ties to the military I will be able to get a refund for the VAT which could mean under $600... But I can only do this if I buy it in a store, not from the internet. Have you confirmed any stores for sure selling it unlocked? I know in my town there is a Media Markt and a Saturn as well as T-Mobile, O2 and Vodaphone stores.
Thanks
Hi,
Vodafone and O2 having this phone in their "upcoming models" list. I presume they will have it by Christmas.
Good luck.
Update:
MediaMarkt is selling out GalaxyNexus since yesterday (30-Nov) afternoon. Price is 599EUR. (With guarantee that if price goes down in Christmas, you will get the benefit too. I have no more information on that.)
Call your nearest MediaMarkt and reserve one as they've limited (first shot) stocks.
I bought one last night and I'm loving it!

I don't think the retailers know themselves when they are getting them in. Its the problem with releases like this. I cant under stand while the whole of europe did not get it at the same time and why it cant be a world wide release. If they had a worldwide release date and an simple advertisement with the specs and price they would sell way more units

I agree, such a PITA with selected places having it released at different times.
Apparently it won't even be released officially in South Africa, so I need to import it somehow. Orange store might be bringing in some stock, although so far they only have the 2GB version on their site.
The phone is priced really well for the specs and therefore will become really popular in a lot of places. I think Asus need to adjust their model numbering a bit and consider better releases next time around.
A simple change in model number would have made life so much easier. ZE550ML, ZE551ML (2GB RAM, 1.8Ghz model), ZE552ML (4GB RAM, 2.3Ghz model). Something as simple as that would have made life that much easier.
Not to mention a worldwide release. Asus are a massive company who have been releasing various products for years. They should have this waxed.
The shipping date on the French Asus Shop has chased me away from ordering via them. It kinda feel as if Asus made a few phone which they planned on releasing early on and then had plans to delay the release date for the rest of the world. Sigh.
Well, even the shipping date from the official asus shop has expired. I have no news from them. Usually I would receive an automated email on every status change of my order.
Asus was probably not prepared for such a big demand.

Hi all book with darty 1/04 and Date push, darty must receive the week of 20/04 to 26/04 phones so I ba patient.
From what I have read, there was a misunderstanding between French online shops and Asus. Asus claims the main delivery date planned was on the 20th of April to the online shops and not earlier. Meaning apart for some lucky guys who may have gotten it earlier, the ZE551ML will not be shipped until the 21st I guess.

Do you have some links for this? Wasn't there already enough confusion related to spec sheets when the preordering started? If I wanted to pre-order a device in order to receive it 1 month later, I would be buying apple products.
If this turn out to be the case, I may reconsider my choice and go for a G3 or M8.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app
It has been confirmed on asus' Twitter account
Thanks for sharing the pics
Because of that, I am now considering other phones as well (G3 is among them )
Sounds like someone from the marketing division has to get fired. This already started with the chaos around having multiple configurations (in terms of CPU) sharing the same model ID. This led to all sites, including the official asus shop, listing the wrong spec sheets for a couple of days. Now the saga continues with wrong release dates communicated to the small list of exclusive retailers. A real shame. If I come across a decently priced M8, I will cancel my ZF2 order and get the M8.
There was French guy on another thread claiming that he already received his ZE551ML. Would you mind letting us know where and when you ordered it?
Mine is from the official asus shop, ordered on March 28. No news since then.
