Hmm, newbie with custom ROM
OK, You probably have RomManager installed. You can do that two ways:
1. Keep all data and settings by overwriting old rom with new one.
Go to ROM Manager, slect Install from SD- pick up new ROM ang give it a go. Your phone will reboot into recovery, install new ROM and reboot your device, with new ROM installed.
2. Recomended.
Boot your device into recovery (turn it off, and when it is off, keep presed vol down button and turn on device. Do not stop holding vol down buton until you see recover. Than go to recovery submenu, and do followin. Go to advance menu, wipe Dalvik cache, than go back and delete cache and tzhan do factory reset. After that choose install from SD card, find file and start it. After phone is finished you restart it.
That is all.

Thanks for your help

[Q] Having BIG problem, need help!

Okay, so earlier today I rooted my evo and flashed the CM6 ROM. A little later I tried to install Google apps.
I followed a tutorial on youtube on how to install gapps using rom manager.
Now my Evo is stuck in the Clockworkmod recovery screen and when I click reboot system now it reboots and goes back to the clockworkmod screen. I tried wiping data/factory reset and then re-installing the CM6 ROM, it did not work.
I really need some help here, I'm not too experienced and I don't want to brick my Evo. How do i fix this?? I am freaking out. Thank you!
I use AmonRA recovery personally and flash everything through recovery. I had too many problems when I tried flashing things through Rom Manager app. Do you have a nandroid backup? If so install the backup and then boot into recovery and reinstall CM6 and gapps back to back in the same recovery session. If no backup, download PC36IMG that corresponds with your hboot version and put it on the root of your sd card. Boot into bootloader by holding volume down and power at the same time. It will scan the sd card for PC36IMG and then verify it. It will then ask you if you want to update. Select yes and let it do its thing and then when it asks if you want to reboot select yes. This will put you back to stock and may unroot, so you may have to do the root procedure again. Then install CM6 and gapps in same recovery session.
Before all this try wiping cache and davlick cache and reboot. If that doesn't work try powering off phone through clockwork and then boot into bootloader. It will scan for PC36IMG and not find it then you will have options to boot into different things. Select recovery, and it will boot into Clockwork. Wipe cache and davlick cache and reboot. See if this works. If not you will have to nandroid or go back to stock probably unless someone that has had this problem and comes along to help you fix it. Always wipe cache and davlick when installing something new like gapps or kernels and full wipe when installing a new Rom, unless you are updating a Rom then just Davlick and Cache.
As long as the phone turns on it is not bricked.

If you are having issues getting the img on your SD card, if you have a card reader handy just use that to transfer it over

I did find the correct one for my hboot version, but another question I have is do I need to flash unrevoked-forever-son.zip since I rooted using unrevoked 3.32? Or do I just put the PC36IMG on the sd card and flash it? Thanks.
Okay, I seem to have gotten it back to stock. Thank god, thought I lost my evo for a minute! Thanks to those who helped me out, its 4:45 in the morning and now I can finally go to bed! ;]
LOL glad ya got it back.. Yeah thats where I was heading before I seen your post..Its 5:46 am and Im not sure how many Evo people are actually on at this time so...anyway nite
I stayed on to help as long as I could, but had to go to work. Sorry I couldn't be here to help with more questions. Funny I was just getting up for work and you guys were just going to bed.
Glad you got it fixed for now. Remember to flash CM6 from recovery and not Rom Manager. Also, flash Gapps from recovery and not Rom Manager app. Flash CM then gapps and reboot. Make sure you do a full wipe first though. You could also look for Calkulin's tools thread in Dev section of EVO forum and find his wipe all zip. You just flash it like any other zip but it formats data, cache, boot and system partitions so that when you flash a new ROM nothing is left over from old one. Good luck my friend and happy flashing.
PS. I don't think the stock rom would give you s-on since you already had s-off, so you should be good to go. I could be wrong, but as long as you still have a custom recovery and s-off you should be good to flash any Rom.
evo camera
ok i have a root evo but my camara dosent work ... can some body help me to fx that problem
What rom are you using? Do they list camera issues or camera not working in the initial post with the rom?

[Q] Help.... phone stuck in saying "CyanogenMod 7"...

HI... i updated my phone with cyanogen 7 rc2, but after it booted up it's stuck in the animation that says cyanogen mod 7 , and the blue android sign... in comes than goes, again it comes... about 20 min stuck... what to do???
It sounds like you need to go into recovery mode and delete all your caches. If you are using ClockworkMod recovery do the following (make sure you are backed up first):
Delete all user data and info (under wipe data/ factory reset),
Wipe cache (under wipe cache partition),
Wipe Dalvik Cache (under advanced).
Then once you've done that try installing and running the ROM again.
i done that one time... for info im using AmonRA.. i cleaned all the cache and everything also... and installed again... nothing happens... fortunately i restored my nand backup and booted my phone with the OTA again... waiting for some answer.... do u think that installing stable version can fix this?
Sounds like a bad flash. I had rc2 running for a month or so with no issues. I've had times when the rom just doesn't install properly ans reflashing fixes it.
Download the zip again, if possible check md5 to make sure it's all good, make sure you have the desire/bravo GSM version, clear everything and flash just the rom and nothing else. If it boots, then go back and flash your gapps and whatever else you want.

thx for replying.. as i was waiting for your reply, i download the cm 6 that is a stable version and checked, it has the same problem too.. i also downloaded GingerVillain 1.6 and it had the same problem too. do u think the problem might be that my phone is "s-on"? and how should i know if my phone is s-on or s-off... when i was rooting my phone with unrevoked, i checked the option that says disable security, but i'm not sure if it's disabled.... because i can't install un-signed zip packages....
any reply?
That definitely sounds odd. Its definitely not an issue with S-ON/OFF, nothing you've done here requires S-OFF to work properly.
Lets just make sure you're following all the steps.
In amonra, you've done your nandroid backup, so no need to do it again. There's no point having a non working backup
Go to wipe and wipe data/factory reset
Wipe davlik cache
Wipe sd-ext (shouldn't need to do this one as you don't have apps2sd yet, but better to be safe)
Now you flash your update.zip, then reboot and you should be fine. The only other thing I can perhaps suggest if every rom you flash sticks at boot is to perhaps try clockwork recovery instead of amonra. Apart from that we might have to wait for folks more knowledgeable than myself cause I'm all out of ideas.
thx for reply.... in meanwhile , i s-off ed my phone and it has the same problem too... i have problem with all cm and gingervillain roms.. but i don't have any problem with leedriod... one more question that maybe the problem is that i have android 2.2 installed, but gingervillain and cm use android 2.3 ... this maybe the problem.... and that's why leedroid works right, because it uses android 2.2.... i'm going to check OxyGen roms... i will post the result here...
i also faced same problem CM7 .. i tried CM6 and it went on fine..
heyyy... right after i posted the reply , i went to recovery and wiped anything, then installed gingervillain 1.6, and everything's fine now... it booted up and now im setting it up.... im going to check the cm 7 too.
i tried cm7 rc2 ... and it was fine and now im using it... here's a how to for solving the problem...:
1.S-OFF your device with AlphaRev : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805811
2.Install the AlphaRev Recovery(S-OFF Image will do it automatically).
3.Go to recovery and install the rom...
4.Boot up and it should not go to system and it should stay in loop as the problem was..
5.Now you should reboot your device into recovery... there are two ways to do this... either take the battery off and put it on, then boot to bootloader by pressing the volume down and the power key and select recovery , or the second way connect it to your computer and start adb and run this command:
adb reboot recovery
6.In AlphaRev recovery first wipe the cache partition , wipe user data, and factory reset...
7.then install the rom (either cm7 or gingervillain)...
8. boot up , and now you have the system running...
This solved my problem... reply if it didn't yours...
hooo.. it worked for me now. just kept update.zip in a new SD card and not flashed google apps..
im very happy that i solved one's problem.. ... thread marked as solved...
*UPDATE* : now i realized that we can mark it as solved.. !!! hehe.. Admin do it for us...

[Q] can't run any new rom, hangs at white htc incredible screen on boot

I rooted the incredible using unrevoked, no problem.
Installed and ran root apps, no problem, backed up everything using titanium backup and rom manager (nandroid) and so forth, installed cw recovery 3.0.0.8.
When I install the skyraider 4 rom from rom manager, it reboots and installs, but then when it reboots again it hangs at the white htc incredible screen (and I've let it wait as long as a half an hour). I have to take out the battery to be able to reboot it.
I can boot back to recovery and then re-install and boot back to the stock rooted rom just fine. But I can't get a new rom installed and working.
I've looked at previous threads about this problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038402
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1023358
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991953
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739646
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=620621
and several other threads on other sites.
The only suggestions to come out of those, other that starting over from scratch (which I've done multiple times now), were to reformat the sd card, which I've also done, and to downgrade to cm recovery 2.5.1.2. Rom manager only shows versions as old as 3.0.0.5. I have put the PB31IMG.zip file on the sd card and loaded that before to help recover but I don't see how that helps with installing a new rom.
Any other suggestions? The main reason I even need a new rom is because bluetooth doesn't work in the stock rom (known issue: http://community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/android/f/91/p/2336/8570.aspx )
It sounds like you are not wiping cache and Davlik (in advanced). The constant reboot of the white screen is a classic symptom of not performing a cache and Davlik wipe

appreciate your help, yeah I've been doing that everytime in rom manager. I tried it several times manually in cm recovery, too, and still the white screen.
I'll just see if verizon can exchange it, or else I'll sell it for another phone with working bluetooth.
Might try reverting to the 2.5.1.2 recovery as I've heard the 3.x.x.x ones don't wipe consistently.

There is a flash of CWM 2.5 that temporarily lets you use that to flash the rom then when you reboot it will revert back. Try that.

Perfect guide to install cyanogen mod 7

Cyanogen mod is a great one. I installed on 24/5 and it took me 1 day to install that. Because i made a mistake installing 1.7 2nd init .
I don't want any others to get into trouble by a small mistake.
STEPS:
1.Install RSD lite.
IT IS GOOD TO FACTORY RESET AND WIPE CACHE ON STOCK RECOVERY BEFORE YOUR FLASH.
2.Download an froyo sbf .I recommend this ( http://depositfiles.com/en/files/tjnmh6d98 ) 3.4.3-11 "The latest 2.2.1".
3.Flash it on keeping your phone in boot loader mode by pressing volume up +power .
5.Dont unplug your phone until you get a good result (PASS).
4.Now skip or configure motoblur and keep your phone ready.
5.Now download gingerbreak.apk and Root your phone (www.mediafire.com/?it8h9z1dbta50i0 ) v 1.20 is the latest
6.Download cyanogen mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1033654 )
7.Download Google apps (http://goo-inside.me/gapps/ )
8.Copy both the zip files on to your sd card
NOW U HAVE ROOTED UR PHONE AND YOU ARE NEARLY READY TO INSTALL CM7!!
"DONT DOWNLOAD AND USE 2ND INIT V 1.7 BECAUSE CM7 WONT WORK ON IT"
9.Download 2nd init v 1.4.2 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212 )
10.Install recovery on your phone and reboot twice fully till your home screen
11.When you reboot you will be automatically taken into recovery.
IF RECOVERY DOESNT COME THEN PRESS VOLUME DOWN BUTTON WHEN BLUE LIGHT COMES DURING BOOTUP
IF U ARE CAUGHT IN A BOOT LOOP THEN GO INTO STOCK RECOVERY AND WIPE YOUR DATA AND CACHE
EVEN IF U ARE IN BOOTLOOP U CAN ACCESS RECOVERY AND BOOT INTO BLUR
12.Go into recovery --> custom recovery and format data and cache and wipe cache
13.Install zip ---->Choose zip from sd card-----> cyanogen mod7 zip file
DONT WIPE OR FORMAT DATA OR CACHE AFTER INSTALLING CM7
14.Install google apps (gapps) zip by the same method and reboot your phone
15.Go to boot ---->2nd init
NOW YOU WILL GET CM7 LOGO.........WAIT FOR A FEW MINUTES UR SCREEN WILL DIM ...........
NOW U WILL BE TAKEN TO YOUR HOME SCREEN OF CM7!!!!!!
IF UR GETTING CM7 LOGO THEN U R !! PASS !!
use only 1.4 guys
i tried this it didn't work for me..i cant start it in 2init it say not in directory...and wen i boot normal it stuck on moto logo
Step 1. RSD Lite 4.9 only worked for me

It's been awhile since I installed CM7 beta6. I followed this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054447
It says:
10. go into custom recovery and wipe data/cache
11. go back to main custom recovery menu and select "install zip from sdcard" then go to "choose zip from sdcard"
12. select the cyanogenmod 7 zip
13. go back to recovery menu and repeat step 10, then select the Gapps zip and install (google apps)
It sounded not logical to me to wipe again after the update but can't remember if I really did that 2nd wipe back then. It's contradictive to this guide. Can someone please explain?
Very good! Congratulations
ok i flashed a swype using the swype from another thread and i get 2 errors: ndroid.process.media and com.android.phone
and have to FC.
so i re install cm7 from step 1. and restored using titanium back up. and still, the same error occured. any ideas?
I guess you restored some system apps and/or settings. That will typically result in this kind of fc's

Thanks
hi
So u have flashed boot but not rom?
U need to have the rom on your SD .
Turn off phone boot it up and when boot logo appears repeatly press back button (not sure if there's an indicater on that kernel or not)
This should boot cwm when in cwm make a backup
Select backup and restore then backup
When this completes wipe data ,clear cache and advanced clear dalvik cache
now select install zip from SD ,then choose zip from SD,then locate your rom file select it and hit yes when it finishes ,reboot and enjoy
Volume rocker moves up and down
And home or power button selects
If u can't get into cwm u have made a mistake flashing boot so reflash it before the above
Failing this return to stock by flash original fw thru flash tool
Plenty of tuts on that just search
Hope that helps

is not the solution,i try several times, and always the same results.
Try:
1) copy your rom into sdcard.
2) flash your kernel under fastboot mode, then reboot.
3) keep press volumn button while rebooting, it should b under cwm screen.
4) wipe dalvik cache under advance
5) wipe data partition
6) factory reset, then reboot again
7) go into cwm screen again, then choose install zip frm sdcard, choose n run the rom that u copy into sdcard earlier. Reboot again after completed.
8) u shall wait for a while when restarting... Then should b ok....
U may try this, dunno whether work for u not.

Note: Just factory reset not enough you have to wipe everything
