you know when your rooting the desire hd, is it exactly the same as the desire z? ive got the desire z rooted and my brother just bought the desire hd, so i just need to know if its the same in rooting?
check his software version, if he has version 1.7x+ you need to downgrade before rooting, other than that just use visionary

is there any possibility to root and s-off my desire hd (2.xx) with a mac? Or do I need a windows pc for this?
(Gingerbread Stock ROM is running atm).
It is much easier when you have windows PC, but you can also check the manual instructions in CyanogenMod website.

Hey Guys, I got my phone s-off'ed by a phone technician who used a tool to do it. My phone is running android 2.3.3 stock rom. I was just wondering if you guys know how I can root it? Also i am trying to flash my phone with mike's rom (Android Revolution HD) and I can't find the option to install rom from sd card for some reason :s

Which version of 2.3.3?!! Check it...!!!
Then go to Desire HD Android Development part from this web site..!!!!
First search for downgrade...!! cause before doing that you can't setup any rom...!!!!
But cause it's S-off Check your phone before doing any work. Turn it off. Press volume down and power key...!!! then go to recovery mode...!!!! Check if it have choices like wiping data or install from zip card...!!! Don't do any job just check it...!!!!
It may be rooted righ now....!!!!!
In recovery mode it says on the top line S-Off. I can't find any way to install zip or wipe data on that menu. Does this mean that I have to downgrade and root? Or is there a root availble for 2.3.3 that has S-Off?
you have to downgrade first.

This tool first downgradet my dhd an than rooted it.
After that i could install any ROM I wanted.
Im now stuck with http://www.coredroidroms.com/site/ an I love it!
It has Android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.5
I only want root, noting else

Is there a way, using AAHK or just plain adb commands, to get ROOT.
I ONLY want root on my phone.
Have been playing with many many roms for a year now, but gone back to stock via RUU, my phone still has S-OFF, and I just want root, sudo/superuser function for certain apps, I dont want my CID changed to 111111 or any other included feature that AAHK provides in one single option.
Phone is on latest OTA update, 3.12.405.1, sense 3.0, android 2.3.5
Can anybody shed light on how I can do that?

Even temp-root will do just fine for me...
I don't want to downgrade my ROM, I don't want custom ROM... I don't even need a custom recovery installed.
I just need root access for 60 seconds so i can run Lucky Patcher.

What about Advanced Ace Hack Kit (AAHK)? You can Google for it; it's not posted here. You could also go to the thread in my signature for some beginner guides.
Super one click only works when you are already S-OFF. Use the advanced ace hack kit.
