Do all kernells work with all roms???
an does this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682419
work with the rom:RCMixHD
No,ASOP kernels are for ASOP roms like Oxygen,CM7,DeFrost (= non-Sense UI ROMs) and Sense kernels are for ROMs with Sense UI. RCMix is Sense ROM. No shure about that kernel, but it seems like krenel for non-Sense ROMs.
asop kernels work for roms like cm7, redux, ginervillian etc. senmse kernels work for sense roms like leedroid 2.2. rcsmixhd is a 2.3.3 gingersense rom which needs a gingersense kernel. so far, there is only the leaked gingersense kernel. thats it thats all. youll have 2 wait until the official kernel source code is released b4 they can creaate custom overclocked undervolted kernels
Sorry to interfear in Ts's topic, but i thought my question is somewhat realated.
Are the kernals included in the roms. or do you have to flash a apropriat kernal yourselve?
Same question goes for radio and i flashed a wifi N thingy my previous rom advised. do i have to undo those things before installing a new rom?
lnodder: custom ROMs include kernels already, but you always have the option of flashing a differenet kernel. Be careful to distinguish what kind of kernel you're flashing vis-a-vis what ROM you have (Sense, non-Sense, etc)
Radios by and large don't need to be flashed/reflashed if they're working fine. Flashing radios improperly is one of the biggest causes of bricked cellphones.
Okay thnx for the info.
But in case of an update from froyo to gingerbread. you do need to update the radio?
At least here the dev. states "Requirement:
Latest Radio 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.08"

I am using MIUI on my Desire GSM and I am pretty impressed!
I only flashed the MIUI rom (or better the german translation of it), no hboot, no kernel and no radio!
So I want to ask you:
1. What can I expect from some other kernel?
2. What can I expect from some other radio?
3. Is there a possibility to use some other hboot for more space for apps on my internal flash?
I also got some problems with my miui:
4. Sometimes the phone is consuming very much power. About 850mW for 3G Is this a problem I can fix with a new radio?
5. Every time I pick up a call or I call somebody, after picking up I get a 1-2 seconds Mic-blackout! Is this a problem I can fix anyhow?
Thank you for helping me! I got 4 friends with the Desire GSM and I want to know the best way before I'm going to help them with MIUI.
1. Yes, you can go for other kernel and test you battery consumption. I am having MIUI 1.9.2 with Tiamat 4.0.6, so far battery life is good.
2. It is subjective to your mobile.you need to try it and a settle with one which works great for you.
3.yes, you can choose custom hboot from alpharev as per your custom rom requirement.
4.yes using 3g will consume more B battery.
5.may be it is a bug, not sure.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
1. If you say "battery life is good", you mean better thas the normal MIUI Kernel? Or which Kernel comes with the MIUI Rom?
2. I got no problems with reception, only the 3G power consumption and the delay after the call-establishing, may this be fixed with new radio?
3. Does anyone know how much system and chache is needed for MIUI?
4. More ok, but so much!? More than LCD and CPU together!?
5. Has anyone similar problems with his Desire & MIUI?
1. yes, battery life is much better with Tiamat than the default kernel
2. you need to try and see
3. MIUI takes 120Mb, better to have 180Mb for /system, 30-40mb for /cache (to avoid FC while downloading big apps from market) rest for /data
1. Is there any good thread where I can learn something about the Kernels and their compatibility with MIUI?
2. Same like 1?
3. So you would prefer the "Bravo Sense"
check this may be it would be of some help

Any recommendations which Radio I should use? One of the stock Radios or the one on the MIUI site?
And do you think, a Radio or RIL Update will help my delay problem? :

I know this is a very stupid question...but I'm still kind confused. What would happen if you flashed a cm7 kernel on a gb leak? Or a leaked kernel on cm7? What is the difference between the two, besides being built from different sources. What does that actually mean?
Yah!
Witch kernels or hboot will works best ? to the Miui--1.10.8? on desire.
Thanks!
All hboots work the same. The only difference is the size of the partitions. Flash the Rom and see how much space it takes in system. Then choose the hboot that suits your needs.
I prefer eviollets manu kernel. You can find it in the development forum here. I hear it works well with miui. I used it for the brief time I had miui (24 hours)

For HBOOTs with 5MB cache, you still need to flash the Cache fix AFAIK.
If you use X-Part, default kernel is awesome, but for other versions, ManU kernel is better as rootSU says.
Actually there IS an HBOOT that modified for Desire+MIUI
it has System:145M Cache:40M Data:252M
but there's sth wrong with my network now so i'll upload it this evening....
1.Which is the best stable rom for now?
2.Which rom has best battery backup?
3.The most important question is im on stock miui. Tell the full process of flashing rom from starting to end.
Thank you ?
It all depends on your usage. Flash away and test each ROM, that's the fun of it.
I heard bout bootloader and else else......how to install twrp?
