The first device to be available with mango build in it's the Fujitsu IS12T
the Fujitsu we saw last week during the conference
The device Will come out in late august in japan
http://wmpoweruser.com/fujitsu-is12t-to-be-the-first-windows-phone-mango-handset-coming-august/
Interesting:
The handset has already passed through the FCC and Bluetooth Certification and will be launching on the Japanese carrier KDDI.
Nikkei reports the handset will only have a 3.7 inch LCD screen however, even smaller than we expected. Even more unexpected however is that Nikkei says the handset will be launched in August, and will be the first Mango handset launch worldwide.
Very interesting, and kinda hopeful.
However as a Canadian, we are 'chosen last' in every single aspect of cellular technology. Not holding my breath

The World's first Mango handset.
Fujitsu Toshiba mobile communications -- now there's a mouthful -- just unveiled the IS12T: Japan's first Windows Phone 7 device, and according to Microsoft prez Yasuyuki Higuchi, the world's first Mango handset.
The sexy and IPX5 waterproof (!) 3.7-inch WVGA slate is powered by Qualcomm's MSM8655 CPU of undisclosed clock speed (which we've seen running at 1GHz in the Incredible 2 and Thunderbolt), and goes on sale in "September or beyond" on KDDI's au network. The pink gizmo packs a 13.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and has a plentiful 32GB of flash storage for housing whatever content you'd fancy toting around. The usual Bluetooth (2.1 + EDR) and WiFi (802.11b/g/n) suspects are also onboard

Windows Phone 7 Series ... phone ... will NOT be released on the same time for the whole world.
Meaning, it will be first released in the United States .... Just like Zune
Meaning, for the rest of the world, we will have to wait longer (3 months? 6 months? 1 year? more?) ...
To anyone who is attending MWC ... Can you ask this to Microsoft? Or gather any info link to an answer / confirmation? ...

Microsoft said Christmas 2010. They released WinMo 6.5, a minor release, everywhere worldwide in October 2009. There's no reeason to think they wouldn't release this major new 7 version worldwide.
Yep, plus this is not something you get on CD or DVD, you get it on your phone so they release it to all manafactureres at once. it's up to the manafacturer to sell @ this location or not
HTC releases all their new phones to the world first and six months later we get them here in the US,
It is only right when a US company releases something " we " should get it first for a change
I don't know, but I do remember an HTC rep saying that. That would be weird though, because HTC almost always releases their new phones in every country but the US first (very, very annoying).

Don't feel to bad, Canadians sometimes don't even get the Device at all....
Australia is pretty bad in getting new devices as well... Oh wells, a trip to Hong Kong should suffice.
You should feel lucky; Can u imagine living here in Brazil, paying a high import tax which makes a simple U$ 600 gadget become as expensive as U$ 1200.
HTC lauched here its "latest" gadget: the new HTC Diamond. (It makes me laught)
Nothing like a trip vacation to get everything in US or Europe.
..........
Nope. There's is not update for older phones because of strict hardware requirements. To Get WP7 you'll need the new device.

Okay
But, iv'e seen the 6.5.3 (?) on many videos and stuff, will it be available for my phone (Samsung Omnia Lite)? And in that case, when?
not neccessarily true. i read that samsungs newest phones, which I dont think are even out yet, come with 6.5 but are designed with all the hardware buttons and specs to be upgradable to 7.

No.. it has announced that the HD2 is NOT going to be updates to WP7, due to the lack of a physical camera button and 5 instead of 3 front facing buttons..
There is no phone currently on the market that will get an upgrade to WP7. It is possible that some new models released between now and the release of WP7 might - but I would say it's unlikely. For example, any phone that can take a removal memory card definitely won't.
I heard the HTC Touch Diamond will receive an update to WP7 because it comes with internal memory instead of SD card slot! There's already a dump of the TD WP7 ROM leaked by a guy from China.

6.5 upgrade to 7 on HD2?
hey guys,
so in which place can i see that windows said they will not upgrade the HD2? i do not have one yet but TMO has a buy one get one free deal down here in Orange county, ca USA if you sing up atleast 4 lines, i want to port my family over to TMO from ATT because ATT stinks as far as phone selections is concerend. however i am concerned about the 7 upgrade, i really do not want to get stuck with TMO for 2 years and be limited phone wise, if thats the case i will just stick with ATT and the iphone(which i am sick of)... 7 looks so much nicer than 6.5, i had an X1 running 6.5 for most of 2009, so i am kind of over 6.5(i hacked the hell out of that X1 before it finally took a dump on me)... let me know what you guys think, i know another option is to purchase the sony X10 which works on all 3G networks but i dont have 600$ to drop on that.. anyway, thanks for your help guys.
Every phone will get a upgrade if someone hacks it in but, it's questionable on how it will all play out. Microsoft might just send "the letter" if hacking wp7 comes out and then no one gets to play unless you buy a new phone.
After all, I just want WP7 on my Titan

There is zero chance that anyone will "hack it in" on anything less powerful than an HD2.
the leaked wp7 made by dell has lower specifications than hd2 (less ram ,smaller screen and no flash ) so why hd2 will not get the update to wp7 ,no one say to me because of the micro sd card , the new dell has one ,and also has same graphics chip so no one also tell me that there is no image scaler on hd2

First, it's a leaked early roadmap, not an actual device. Assuming the leak is recent and accurate, it could and probably will easily change. Second, the Dell device's MicroSD card could be embedded in the device and not user accessible. This would meet Microsoft's requirements while the HD2 does not. FInally, the buttons on the HD2 do not meet the requirements for WP7. Yes, it's somewhat superficial but Microsoft will not support a device out there that doesn't match and does not fit their design requirements. The Dell device appears to meet the MS requirements. The only one that is questionable is the MicroSD card but that could easily be embedded which MS has stated is OK.

January 2010... that's like stoneage in the mobile world. It has already been confirmed multiple times there's no update.
I had ignored the WP7 threads for a while. Looking back at it now it's amusing to see people still discussing about the HD2 upgrade....
AT&T begins Mango update program September 27th. Full details.
For all of you on AT&T and awaiting Mango, we have some big news for you, so grab yourself a seat, because you're hearing it here first. Looks like that earlier info about "being on time" was accurate.
We just received a series of emails exchanged between some higher ups at AT&T and an anonymous source (the source is anonymous to you, but known and verified by us). The emails give, in detail, AT&Ts plans for their Mango updates, including schedule according to device. The original emails are attached as images with all names and times redacted.
In short, here is the plan. "Starting September 27, 2011, Microsoft has approved and is planning to release a new “Mango” update to AT&T customers using..."
HTC Surround (SKU 65212)
LG Quantum (SKU 65205)
Samsung Focus (SKU 65203) [More on this below]
"A subsequent release is projected to be available for customers with the HTC HD7S (SKU 65255) in early to mid October. A subsequent advisory will be provided for the HTC HD7S after the MR update has successfully passed TA."
The update requires two steps: download new Zune software and plug in your phone.
Now the bad news. The Samsung Focus is still divided into two camps, depending on the hardware revision. Revision v1.3 will get the update on 9/27 while v1.4 will have to wait till end of October:
The Samsung team came back an provided this information about WINDOWS 7.5 for the Samsung Focus devices.
rev 1.3(Micron): Windows 7.5 update will be available through Zune on 9/27.
rev 1.4(LSI) : Update has not entered the AT&T SPE lab yet; however, Samsung is targeting for 10/17 lab entry and 10/31 TA
So there you go folks. The only thing missing from the above is the Dell Venue Pro, but we're under the impression that Dell will handle that directly. More info as it comes in. And thanks to our tipster for the excellent information and timely communication! Full emails after the break...

I know that AT&T isn't a "bad" company. I was an AT&T employee for 10 years. But in the wireless market, they have always been somewhat clueless about what makes good customer service.
This is a welcome surprise for me, and I can't wait until next Tuesday.
Hey, AT&T werent last (Australia's Telstra was 2nd last), so I was more shocked when Telstra was waiting for MS' approval to push Mango 0_o
If you de-branded, dont forget to re-brand to ensure you get the update. If you use the LG Quantum, check this link. I provided the instructions incase you forgot... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1273826
What about non-branded phones. I remember MS was saying those devices are getting updates first, so does it mean we should get it before 27/9?
This is excellent need and shows att holding true to their statement about being the first to update. Hopefully Samsungs don't run into any snags likelast time. Can't wait to finally get mango.

All the first gen devices use the same base hardware profile. The only thign the HD7 has is like 64MB more RAM which shouldn't be a big deal given even second gen devices are shipping with 512...
The only thing that would stop other 1st gen devices from getting the update is the OEM or carrier refusing to license or support the new version.
Also, the post also mentions the Samsung Focus.
Seems like what has been touted on a few places lately.
All devices to get the update - only the hardware inside your device will limit the functionality you recieve.
T-Mobile doesn't even have the 8107 update pushed to these phones, I wouldn't hold my breath on Apollo...they pushed it to the Radar, and they told me to buy that instead lol.

T-Mobile USA pushed 8107 to all WP7 devices already. Why do people keep spreading these false facts. I had the official 8107 on my HD7 before I decided to go with a Full Unlocked ROM. There are others who have gotten the update too. The updates seems bugged or something though as I know the Lumia 710 has gotten the update, but when I tried updating my roommates' new 710s, it showed them as up to date.

I sincerely doubt US carriers will allow Apollo updates to be pushed (even if MSFT releases them). I plan to use my first gen wp as a zune with wifi.
For months we are waiting for the update of the windows system to version 7.8 and after blunder releasing devices that will not be upgraded to Windows 8 and various bugs that undertaken to credibility of their devices, just when supposedly the Update is released, it simply does not appears on the Zune for the vast majority of users.
Even when Nokia will continue committing their blunders? For my part I'm already sick of this incapacity bankrupt company!
I consider it a total lack of capacity due to long delay of this release and a clear demonstration of total incapacity. Furthermore, as a consumer who owns a Lumia 900 consider myself totally disrespected.
This has nothing to do with Nokia. Carriers insist on testing updates before they ship them, mostly to make sure it plays nice with their network and maybe to do a little training for support staff. Nokia and MS can't change that fact. Apple seems to have a little more clout in this area and is able to either bypass carrier testing, or they pay extra to fasttrack it through. Microsoft and Nokia both said the rollout will take about 4 weeks, this is approximately what was seen with the Mango update.
I understand your feeling, but there arena few things...
7.8 wasn't just released for lumia's, reports are showing various other phone makes and models also are receiving updates. So is seems more like Microsoft flipped the switch.
When updates are pushed, not everyone gets it the same second. They tend to be in stages.
And cable trick does work, I got impatient and well had my 900 updated during lunch yesterday.

As another post pointed out, the amount of time you wait is relative to your connection speed. If you connection is good, the time you wait is slower. Trial and error worked for me. Ultimately the wifi disable allowed me to update on release day when Zune said I was up to date. Good luck!
I don't understand why so many people are in such an uproar to get such a ~minor~ upgrade. Most of the changes are purely cosmetic. Now, if the upgrade were to permit a user to download an audio or video file from the internet, or email a PDF (how radical!), or manage a [shudder] zip file attachment, I could understand the impatience.
Jeez.
Eric is right...
The update to 7.8 is'nt such a big thing at all. You get the wp8 home screen and the Bing option for the lockscreen and that's about it.. maybe a few more background colors to choose from?
Anyway, the only way we (lumia 900 users) can get this Phone some really nice usefull features is by building custom rom's but there aren't a lot of developers on unlocking the bootloader so we are stuck with the features Nokia gives us.
I still hope the unlocked Quellcom bootloader will surface somewhere so we can release the powers of this phone but i'm afraid i need to wait till my contract ends and get me another phone (and it wont be a Nokia ever again).
I forced my 900 to 7.8 and there were 2 OS updated and last and third was a firmware update from nokia... the small tiles look and feel great..
