I have updated to 2.50 WWE. So for those who want Arabic support, 2.50 is not it.
There is little change I can find. The wifi seems to be better though.
The battery life is soso, as all official roms.
My hotmail activesync is still not working. The Mail app downloads all my mails and then they all disappeared, and only the recent(like a week) ones show up. I have to use other mail client.
So for those who want to solve the hotmail activesync problem by upgrading 2.50, you dont have to.
So before the 2.50 is rooted or can be downgraded, I will still be using my iPhone, because iPhone is the only one i have that actually works, for my mail, calender, and better battery.
BTW. who can recommend a good mail client for my hotmail activesync? I dont think k-9 works for me either.

I looked (googled) my question and found a bunch of inconclusive answers and such so I am coming to the place of experts...
All I need to know if we will be able to use (sync) hotmail to the EVO (or androids)?
I have a Gmail, but hate it and only use it for junk so I have nothing to sync from there.
I will be jumping ship from the Diamond running a OMJ 6.5.5 ROM (love it, best ever rom) and literally know nothing about the Androids but I am tired of my aging Diamond.
Guys familiar with Manila, will it work just like the Mail Tab in our WM phones?
thanks.
Yes the EVO(Via HTC SENSE) does have a Mail Client that syncs through POP3 that will work with Hotmail on a polling basis(every X minutes it checks for mail).
You WILL be missing out on the instant push, calendar and contacts sync that Gmail would provide though. I definitely consider getting used to Gmail as you'll need to to sign into the phone regardless.
You can also look for the email pushing software called Seven.
ohwut, thanks for the heads up.
I never really cared about the calendar, just the my emails. It sucks to hear that they wont push real time like I have it set up now.
Hey does that also mean that if I earase an email on cell it will still be in computer and viceversa?
One more day and time to Droid...
You hate Gmail... but use Hotmail? Unless this is out of some requirement for your job or something, I am at a loss. All I can say is different strokes, I guess
I just got the DHD and am pretty stoked it has Exchange ActiveSync. My problem is that it seems to be very unstable and give "connection socket timeout" and is totally unreliable.
I've added and deleted the account twice and it starts out nicely with the Sync. Now my contacts are at 90% and keeps getting this friggin' error!..
I used HD, HD2 previously and never had these exchange sync issues.
Anyone else having these probs with Exchange ActiveSync on DHD?
Yep. Same for me.
I am trying so sync for a month now with no real success
I have tried several workarounds and third party apps (ImproveEmail, Roadsync) but none of them worked well.
I am now back to stock HTC client.
Now emails sync well but calendar is a disaster!
Calendar used to sync 10% of my appointments and was showing SSL error.
Now since I, one more time, deleted account-purged calendar-recreated my account, calendar is not syncing at all (SSL error).
And Logcat is not very helpful.
I spent days on net trying to find fixes or workarounds; many people are complaining, and there is no 'true' fix.
That pisses me off when I see that Windows mobile phone or IPhone can sync with no problem !!!
I too have the same Problem.
Am using touchdown now and its working fine...running on the trial and need to purchase it
Same as you, I had lot of sync problems with Exchange. It was completely unreliable, until I discovered Laurie's blog !
http://laur.ie/blog/2010/09/exchange-2010-sp1-sync-with-android-froyo/
I installed the Google stock 2.2 email apk (as described in the blog) and after few minutes my calendar was fully synchronized and I receive emails in push. That's great
I am not sure that would solve your issue but it is worth trying it.
(make sure to delete the HTC exchange account).
Hope this helps.
I have tried so many different things. It seems that using Moxier Mail is the only thing that seems to work. I've been going back to all the message board posts that I came across to share my solution. I hope it works for you.
Glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I find that turning the phone off for 10 minutes and then on again fixes the problem for a while, but it always comes back.
anyone found a solution to tthis yet?
I`ve tried the solution from lauries blog and it worked.
The only thing i' ve changed is that i backed up the whole rom, installed the apk and imediatly opened it.
The program isn' t as handy as the new one but atm it works.
I can confirm that the 2.2 google stock mail APK is working for me too. (solution described above)
I have 4 hotmail accounts and no pb to synchronize them (with push settings). Calendar and Contacts are OK too.
I give you the APK below. You can install it without root like any other APK.
You'll be able to uninstall it also, as the app name isn't the same as the htc mail client.
Hey guys, Just flashed the newest update of incredibly re-engineered to my dinc, been using older versions of inc re-engineered for a while. But hotmail still doesn't wanna work. Yes I've tried all the different types of pop, and exchange settings, and now I give up on trying to make hotmail work with the stock mail app. SO, gmail works just fine, I loaded up my gmail account, set my hotmail to forward everything to my gmail account, then set my gmail account to send messages under my hotmail address.
Problem solved. A real ass-backwards way of making it work so that I can have the mail widget, but it works. Of course other apps from the market will connect to my hotmail account, and I have maildroid, and thats nice, but this was the only way I could get hotmail to somewhat work with stock mail.
I will say, sometimes hotmail would sort of sync with the automatic settings, but it would only sync 10 messages at a time, and it sync'd my oldest messages first. So thats useless. I'd have to set it to sync-all in order for that to happen. All the other settings like days and how many messages, didn't take any effect. Then again, google probably considers adding windows features to a google phone to be sodomy. I'm not that surprised hotmail doesn't wanna work on my dinc
So I guess this is more of a comment thread than a question since things are working. But if you encountered the hotmail problem with android 2.2, and overcame it, please share.
Did hotmail ever work when you were running stock?
Nah didn't work right then either.

Hi Community/Devs,
Funny conversation with a friend who went and bought a Desire HD (because I recommended it to control his life and work on his emails, Exchange 2010).
After a long time of troubleshooting his issue where his emails cannot work on his Desire HD, he's called HTC themselves and they have told him that Exchange 2010 does not work on ANY of their devices (Android). Funny thing is... I have a normal Desire and my emails work perfectly on our Exchange 2010. My calendar, mail and contacts sync beautifully.
My mate, has problems syncing emails, contacts sometimes and calendar. Says it's connected but cannot send an email. This has been frustrating him as it is a fantastic phone, but can't get one of the most important things, emails, working on it and yet, it's perfect on mine.
Can anyone else confirm?
Thanking you all.
Hi,
nope the information from HTC is wrong. I have here two Exchange accounts on my Desire HD with Stock ROM. One is an Exchange 2007 and one a Exchange 2010. Both are working perfect as expected.
The question would be what the exchange system on the other side of the wire said when an error occured.
bye

Thank for the confirmation. I'm linking this thread to my mate who has the problem. He may have some questions. I don't have a Desire HD, but just the first Desire. I know not much difference, but in all, you're saying it works which is what I would like for him to know and maybe go back to HTC and tell them to shove... ok, maybe not, but at least ask again in a polite manner.
Maybe HTC were referrinmg to Hotmail Exchange with DHD.
Their stock mail app does not work with this model yet. For this, you need to install the stock Google mail app, Improved Email or a paid version (some with HTML) from the Market.
Not sure if this was what your looking for, as you didn't state MS Hotmail. But maybe the reason given by HTC.
Hotmail does work with DHD Stock on exchange, but only on the 2.2.1 version of the ROM. However there is a refreshing bug with it.. and also no HTML

Yes, there is that bug, that's why it doesn't work properly and unusable.

@OP: This is a Active sync issue, In Exchange 2010, active sync should be enabled for your friend;s profile for the sync to work. as him to check with this Exchange admin
Don't know if this may of any help but...here it goes

Cheers,
I've been syncing with Exchange 2010 with no issues since end last year.
I had a friend who was experiencing the same issue a while back - but only over WiFi (syncing was fine using data). We got his mail syncing over WiFi after temp rooting his phone with VISIONary and then installing ASProxy.. (for some unknown reason he didn't want to root his phone).
VISIONary: (can't find Market link)
ASProxy: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.Alsu.ASProxy
Guy's,
I have upgraded to 5.2 and setup my hotmail account through the exchange active sync with push mail.
When an e-mail is received and I delete it from my phone it deletes then a minute later my phone goes off alerting me to a new e-mail only to find its the same e-mail back in my inbox again...any ideas?
This was happening on 5.1.11 too but not on rom's before this...help its driving me mad!
It's a bug with the sense email app. It has something to do with the ssl certificates hotmail uses, and the sense email app not accepting them. Basically, if you use an AOSP rom, you'll notice that there's a checkbox for "Accept all SSL certificates" when you're setting up an exchange account. On a sense based rom, it doesn't have that. I was hoping the new base would've fixed it, but they still haven't fixed the problem.
Thanks for the info...thats interesting as in version 5.1.11 it worked a treat...
That's even more interesting because I haven't been able to get it to work properly on any sense rom, including the stock rom on my Inspire.

Whoops, sorry totally got the wrong version in my last post there! It was the version before 5.1.11...it was beta 4 (sorry not sure on version number)...however it did have sense and it worked a treat...
Hmm I have even tried version 5.2 and flashed the no sense script but still an issue....
Don't suppose there are any rom's out there with it working? I would go back to the B4 version however it was very laggy :-(
I have finally found a working solution to get the exchange active sync working!!
I have downloaded the android mail client that was released in 2.2. Setup my hotmail account and I now have true two way syncing with push mail!!
Drop me a pm with your e-mail address and I will send over the apk...alternatively I found it from google
