HTC Extended battery good results.. very little bulk - Thunderbolt Accessories

I was on the edge for quite some time trying to figure out if I wanted to buy one or not.
Im glad I did. On an average WORK day Ill rape the battery and itll be lucky to last the duration without charge. Average of 60-90% OUT of signal during this time. (no wifi at work). Today Is my first day on a full charge with the extended battery and Im sitting at 78% left with the same day to use use and have just over an hour left. To be able to stay AWAY from the charger today has seriously been amazing. On my D1 with extended batt I was able to do the same thing, normal battery not hardly.
For regular battery off work days I can easily go 18hrs on a charge without fear. Im looking forward to my few days off and seeing what I can squeeze out of this extended battery.
For those thinking about going extended just do it, you definitely will not be sorry at all. The size added to the back is seriously so small and it even fits nicer in the hands. In my jeans pocket its not even noticeable either.

Agreed. Use CM7 and juicedefender and you'll get 40+ hours out of it.

3500mah battery

I cheaped out and got a 10 dollar Ebay extended battery.
I thought I would report my experience. I cleared battery stats and it's now charging.
Typically during my normal work day by the time I get home the battery has about 10% or less . That's usually about 13 hours off the charger. I typically just surf the net, but I also text, play games and watch videos.
The first thing I noticed was the increase in weight. The extra bulk hasn't bothered me yet. When seeing new phones the slim ones look so much more desirable but with the width of the evo the extra thickness isn't super noticeable when actually using the phone. I'll see how I feels in the pocket. Being shallow it does look about 65% uglier though.
I will take pictures later.

Cool, I want to get this but I heard some things about the phone not able to charge all the way with the 3500. Can you please verify? Also, please go into detail about the usage and your stats have so many hours please!
Interesting I just woke up and got a phone call. Lasted about 2 minutes and then I used the browser to navigate to your post. After reading it checked the charge level and it's at 96% kinda weird for such a massive battery and such little use. So after 3 minutes of use its down 4%
Now I should mention that I haven't brought it down to empty and then recharged it like how the companies want you to. I understand that with nicad and nmhd batteries but I don't get why lion needs that cycle. But I'll report if there is a difference.
i haven't noticed any difference between my old battery and the new 3500. i let it drain down to 10% and then charged. maybe after a couple of days the rom will adjust to new battery.
Alright 7 hours into the day and i have 80% left.
I'm also kinda liking the extra thickness in terms of using it. Feels about the same in the pocket. A little heavier and easier to feel on a "do I have my phone?" Pocket tap.
One odd thing is the sound from the speaker seems to have improved slightly. I think it has to do with the space between the grill and speaker has a gap and it creates a expansion chamber or something I dunno but it seems to be marginally better.
So 12 hours in now and it's at 57% a definite improvement.
Would you mind uploading some pics please? Maybe a link to ebay. There are a couple of different sellers. Thanks

here is a link to the auction:

if the link doesnt work anymore the seller was speedy-china http://myworld.ebay.com/speedy-china/
so taking pictures is kinda funny cause typically i use my phone for a point n shoot. i cant find my real point n shoot so ill either look harder tomorrow or bust out my dslr.
I bought the same battery from the same seller a couple weeks ago. I am still waiting for it to arrive. It does take a long time for it to ship from Hong Kong to US, but after reading this post I think my $8.50 was well worth it. It will probably be here in a couple weeks with Christmas slowing the shipping process down and all, but I am eagerly awaiting my purchase.
I bought one a few weeks ago. It does add bulk and a lot of weight however, in my experience it is much more comfortable to hold the phone now. The biggest surprise has been with the new battery case, I can now set my phone down without having the speaker muffled since it is about 1/4" off the surface while streaming tv. I have heard different ideas to break in the phone like full discharge 3 times and others say not to fully discharge it. I would recommend that after your initial charge, turn the phone off and charge it another hour. Personally, I can stream about 5-6 hours of TV (with full screen brightness) at work before needing to recharge.
Any comments like "I took the phone off the charger and it's at 95%" is working as intended. Most phone with Li-on batteries do a cycle charge when they get to 100%. They will stop charge at 100% off charge to 90%, back to 100%, then 90% and so on. This is done because Li-on batteries are dangerous at when under a constant charge. If temperature get too high they can degrade the internal membrane causing fire and explosion from released hydrogen gas.. If you want to leave the house with 100% just unplug and reconnect your phone about 10 mins before leaving.
I got a 3500,not dure if its the same u have. Didnt look at the link
But I got it for emergency. Power goes out... Long trip etc.
I carry 2 other "extended" batts for EDC. Dont mind changing batt and keeping the phone light.

Hey guys, unfortunately I didn't see this post before buying a seidio 3500 and custom case. I just wanted to tell all of you some helpful hints.
1. Condition the battery- run all the way out till phone shuts off (if you go out, keep your original battery and door with you as a backup). Do this about 3 times
2. When charging the light on the Evo turns green after the battery reaches 1500 (the size of the original battery). You need to charge the battery about 3 hours past that to get the full potential of your extended batt. I charge mine over night and I get about a day and a half out of mine!!!
3. It's best to condition the battery about once a month to increase battery life. They say that these batteries don't retain a memory and I believe this to be true, but over my years of experience, it helps to condition very once in a while.
Hope this helps and good luck. Reply back if you get a chance, as I will subscribe to the thread, and let me know if this info helps.
Peace!
How much did you pay for duty fee's to get it shipped here?
im going to average out the difference in battery life of what i have left at the end of the day now vs how much i used to get, to get a good idea of how much more juice im getting.
(so far its looking like 60% more!)

I bought a 3500 on ebay and it was $8.48 shipped. No duty fees. The battery was 2.99 and shipping was 5.49. It is a great deal seeing how everywhere else they are 60 & up.

Seidio 3500mAh evo battery...

I bought it and it finally came in today...all I can say is it's the best money I have spent. The fit and quality and reserve power is amazing. Out of the box it had 56% life. I have tried draining it with movies, qik, anything that pulls juice...gps on, wifi on (i know it actually uses less batt on wifi but I have 12m net lol), even have the brightness up...after 2 1/2 hours I have only pulled it down to 40%!
I know there are other batteries that are very cheap compared to this unit but I can say fit is excellent. Power is shocking...it is well worth the $65 to own such a power, well designed battery and back plate. The non skid coating doesnt even fly off my center console anymore. GREAT PRODUCT! very satisfied!

I can't post links yet due to post count so you will have to play around with my links to see them. Add http and also dot com to Amazon.
Seidio looks like this:
amazon/Seidio-Innocell-Extended-Battery-Black/dp/B003SNIR7Y
I personally don't like the "bulky" square look on this one. I opted for the Quickshippers version. Much more smooth and "cleaner." Not to mention about 1/2 the price.
amazon/SHIPPING-UPGRADE-3500mAh-Extended-Battery/dp/B0042TY68C
Was in the market for a new case until I saw the Quickshippers battery... My main concern has always been camera protection.. The battery cover alone looks like it would do the job, no?
also anyone in the market for these extended batteries. There is kernel developed that allows for full charging of the them. SBC kernal it comes in sense and AOSP
Here is the link for the Quickshippers option. If anyone has this, let me know what you think in regards to protecting the camera in particular.

I have the same battery and have a couple of tricks you may or may not know. I get about two days out of mine with moderate to heavy usage.
1. when the charge light goes green, the batt isn't full. charge about 3 or more hours over to get a full charge. I charge mine overnight and it's good. If you remove right after the light goes green you will not see much difference from the stock battery.
2. I just recently started running Calkulin's new kernel. I'll give you the link. I use the one that says SBC for Netarchy's CFS More Aggressive 4.2.1 (aka 131) 131.zip (2.91 MB). Find the one that best suites your rom, This one kicks ass. Scroll down to the second post. Here's the link- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876590
3. as far as turning things off while not using them, that's up to you. I dont and I still get the great life.
Hope this might help! Enjoy that awesome batt. By the way, bout the green light, the phone only recognizes either when the batt reaches 1500 or it reaches the proper voltage that makes the phone think the batt is full. It was set that way for use with the stock batt. This is what I've read bout and recognized from personal experience.
Not sure I want to **** w the kernel atm. I managed 60 hours and charge the phone every 2 days...its amazing

That's great time. If it works great. The one I spoke of is supposed to be the newest and hottest thing out because of its ability to trickle charge the batt. When I take the phone off charge, it stays at 100% for hours if I dont use it. I've taken it off charge in the morning before just to test it and woke up bout 4 hours later and the phone was still at 100%. I've never fully tested to see how long mine will last as far as hours. I could guess that I would get at least the same as you. For instance, I took it off charge yesterday about 10am and right now I have 61%, granted I have had it connected to the computer a couple of times to download and transfer stuff.

[Q] Is an extended battery / second battery a must?

So, my OG Droid was acting up and my upgrade wasn't due until late july so I decided to purchase a Droid X.
While, I don't have the phone yet, and it is used I was debating whether or not a second battery is necessary as I will have a car charger from my original droid. But, at the same time I have had a second battery with most of my phones for years. But, then again I will most likely be replacing this phone by Sept/Oct the absolute latest.
You might be able to get by on just one battery. It seems the DroidX has one of the best battery lives for Android phones. If you do buy another battery, I would suggest the extended battery. It adds only 1mm to the back of the phone and it gave me around 4-5 hours more battery life than the standard battery. Then you can always have the standard battery on backup if you need some extra juice at the end of the day.
thanks for the tip
On Rubix Focused I can get 24 hours of battery life with heavy use! I have been thinking of getting an extended battery though. It would just be convenient
I have an extended battery and carry the standard battery that came with the DX in my car just in case i ever need to swap..no biggie, convenient.
Hey, I used the BH6X from Motorola and gave me superb life. I got more that 20 hrs (using juice defender) from it. Im now reviewing the 3800mAh that I got off eBay on the X2 forums, you're welcomed to come by since this battery is for both x's. I didnt want to start a whole new thread here in the X forums.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17751410#post17751410
it really depends how heavily your using your phone and what for
I have 2 Motorola BH5X Standard 1500mAh Batteries I keep on me for backup at all times, which, ever since my sister-in-laws wedding and a trip to disneyland has become the standard for me.
Turns out taking a butt load of pictures and helping my wife manage the people at a wedding required a total of 3 batteries for my phone
Meanwhile, taking a lots of pix at Disneyland with no readily available outlets for my external charger also made 3 batteries the perfect number, especially after recording those late night light shows.
On a regular day though I can stretch out a single battery if I have an outlet for charging nearby or 2 batteries without a charger.
and yeah, I don't restrict data either so that does a number on my charge.
I get around 30 hours on the standard battery but I work from home, doesn't get two hours of streaming use on the way to and from work anymore. When I was driving two hours I would charge it every afternoon on the way home depending on the previous nights use. I also picked up a xoom so I use the phone a lot less now.

I am LUCKY to get 7 hours... I had to get a 2nd battery!
I ended up buying a second battery from Amazon for like 5 dollars and a cheap charger for the battery. Anytime I know I'm going to be out for awhile I take the extra battery. It has saved me a bunch of times.
If you're playing games or streaming movies a lot then I would def get one. With moderate use, I get at least 12 hours on mine

I would advice to replace a factory battery with an extended battery.
This one for instance is 3600mAh Extended Battery by Mugen, at least twice the capacity compared to factory battery. Reliable brand as well.
http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...y-for-motorola-droid-x-with-battery-door.html
I would recommend one if you use your x constantly more than 4 hours in a single use.

Funny Thing About the Extended Battery

My friend had gotten a Inc2 as a replacement for her BB and they sent her the extended for free as well as the regular. She didn't want it so I decided to try it out. I immediately noticed two things:
1) It adds negligible weight but a desired width to the phone, both are nice and work well with my large hands.
2) The backing for the extended battery actually makes clicking on the power button easier. Using the regular battery cover it was almost a chore to turn the screen on as the power button was almost flushed with the case.
So if you're thinking of shelling out moolah for it, it's a good bet you'll still love your phone afterwards.
But how's the battery life?
I have the extended battery also and love it! I just went to the lake for the 4th and didn't charge it from thursday morning until sunday around noon. Granted i didn't use the phone as heavily as usual i still spent around an hour a day on the internet, used gps, talked around 45 mins a day, and sent approx 50 texts a day. So i would say its pretty good!

it's b.s. though that the original Incredible had a 3500 mah extended battery where this one for the inc 2 is 2150 mah.
i'm waiting until a more powerful extended is available for the inc 2.
on a side note though, i used to have the thunderbolt and got the extended battery for that. the extended battery only helped a little bit but took twice as long to charge.
The only thing about other batteries is they may not work in the phone. I'm not sure about this phone specifically but my fascinate wouldn't charge one of the extended batteries I bought for it because it wasn't OEM. I had to install a custom kernel in order to make it work. In all honesty though, when I'm not on vacation I use the crap out of my phone and I haven't gotten it below 30% in a days time. And I'm sure if I HAD TO, I could go 4-5 days on a charge if I were away from my house/truck

I just got a Dinc 2 for a replacement also. I was working on replacing my eris for the 5th time and I was able to talk them into this instead (note this does not happen all of the time). I think they have an abundance of returns on this phone so they are turning them into warr replacements.
Some people are getting new devices out of this, not just refurbs. I think they are using this one because it's one of their cheaper current models.

MAX Power Extended Battery Review

Hey guys thought id post a lil review of the extended batteries i just bought. came with 2 4500mAh batts with 2 extended covers for $20 of eBay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/14078494234...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_3383wt_1270
the battery doors are not made of the same type of plastic the OEM door is but its still nice quality. its a harder plastic and less flexible but snaps on the phone just fine and feels nice and sturdy. actually feels more sturdy than the OEM door and i actually like the added thickness. as weird as that might sound one hand use is sooooo much better. i wear dress paints at work and the thickness does make the phones presence in my pocket more apparent but its not bad by any means since the phone is so thin to begin with.
i had troubles getting the battery to charge while in the phone to 100% using a 1amp charger. i bump charged it about 10 times no joke. even tried charging while it was turned off. every time it would charge from 98% to 100% in a few minutes then as soon as i would unplug the charger to would immediately drop to 98%. after that i just left it plugged in for about 8 more hrs over night.
in the morning when i unplugged it it dropped to 99% right away. 10sec later it dropped to 98%.after getting to work 20min later i checked again and it was at 95%. but after that it seemed to drain somewhat more normal. i will post some screen shots after i have ran it down till it dies and then the cycle after that as well.
right now im at 13% after 1day 8h 44min. about 3:45 of screen time and over 2hrs of Pandora over WiFi. also used some WFi direct sharing that says it took up 13%. no power saving stuff. just auto brightness and connecting to WiFi when its around. also might note all my radios are on except for GPS since i RARELY ever use GPS. i know its not even close to being calibrated yet because you can actually see the graph go back up a few % at times even tho i never charged it.
more details to come and please ask any questions i might be able to help with.
First cycle. As said before the battery never really charged to 100% so results may get better but im definitely seeing a major improvment. On the OEM Battery i was seeing about 12-14hrs with 4hrs screen time.
Nice review! I personally think that ill stick with my stock battery though seeing how im able to actually pull out 4 hours of on screen time. Anyways this was much appreciated!
i hear ya. i think most ppl will be able to get by with the OEM batt just fine. case and point i bought the 2 pack to give my wife the 2nd batt but shes been getting over a day on her OEM batt with about 2.5hrs screen time avg. so she doesn't even want to use it... i have not been doing so well on the OEM batt tho, on days i really used my phone i could get about 5 hrs screen time but id be at 10% before i got home from work and then id be tethered to the charger from the rest of the night. with this new batt i should be able to get a full work day and then some, with probably over 8hrs screen time. which is perfect
also i know for some the added thickness is a big issue but for me this phone is seriously too thin with the OEM batt. i actually had problems with one handed use unless i had it in a case. now with this extended batt it feels so perfect in my hand. even more so when gaming or typing long winded emails or post on forums. whats interesting is all my friends enjoy the grip/feel of the phone when i showed them the new batt. most of them are SGS2 owners.
the only issue is now i have to mod a case to get this thing to fit now which sucks because the feel is so perfect now. i dont want to mess up the grip but i know these screens NEED protection sooo..

GPS even though it shows on, it will not be utilize till an app actually touches it.
can you do a test without wifi? cell ID is what killing the bettery, wifi will actually save battery by alot, unless you have it in discover mode which then does more harm than good.
Sure thing. Ill try to do this 2nd cycle on as much 4G/3G as possible.
I just tend to get really bad service at my house, even more so when im downstairs in my "man cave". Most the time i get 3G speeds that make you want to pull your hair out. So thats actually the only reason I use WiFi. Ironically the 4G in my area reaches speeds Much faster than my WiFi. At work i get 40-50mbps down but I just can't get service at my house.
still on battery power since my last post. i tried to run it down last night playing some games, browsing and whatnot but couldn't do it. lol
you can see its still not calibrated properly tho. at some points in the graph it flat lines for an hour or so even tho i was using it.
after this cycle ill get a to see whats its like during a workday.
Lack of a case is a huge hassle. I can't use my phone without a kick stand. That said glad you're doing this review

Dude, fantastic find and review. I'm getting decent performance from my original battery, but I find my self turning off stuff I'm not using, leaving power saver on, killing wifi when not in use, never use gps, etc... I would like to be able to leave everything ON (radios, etc), max out screen brightness, etc and NEVER have to worry about running low on battery. So this would be great for me. I know most people don't like the cheapie chinese aftermarket batteries (myself included) but wow, $20 for 2 backs/batteries.. hard to beat that. I hope he has a blue one. :good:

cant really go wrong for $20. like a said before worst case if they didnt last as long as a "4500mAh" battery should id just solder up 2 OEM batts in parallel and have a "Samsung" 4200mAh battery.
oh and i checked, 2 OEM batts fit with this cover with room to spare. might do this regardless and compair.
Oooh.. that'd be a good idea!
turn out im getting much better battery life than i thought with these MAX power batteries. i went out yesterday and wanted to have my phone in a case so i popped the OEM batt ON and went about my day like normal. 6hrs later i was at 50%
i really need to make or get a extended battery case ASAP!

Know anyone with a 3D printer? Laser scan your phone for sizing and have 'em print you out a one-of-a-kind plastic case. Granted, it's not the best case (like silicone/TPU/hardpolycarb hybrids)... but it'd work.
This kinda thing should become more common in the future

Pretty light use looks like. Disappointing for a "4000mAh" battery.
Using stock battery, I get 24 hrs simply turning off fluff and using good ol' Juice Defender.

as with any battery review, the battery life would be relative. like i said, my wife can grab over a day with about 2hrs screen time with text & FB on the OEM batt. i however can't get even half that as the way i use my phone and the service i get in the areas we are in are different. the best i ever got on the OEM was about 16hrs with just under 4hrs screen time. it was a light use day to say the least.
personally i wouldn't rate the MAX power battery @ 4500mAh as it it advertised. i would however give it about a 40% bump over the Samsung 2100mAh. but still $20 for 2 of them? for a heavy user its a very nice cheap option considering whats available. the Mugen one is a joke... $100 for roughly 4000mAh? thats ridiculous x10.
FYI: i have ordered a 2nd Samsung OEM batt to wire up to the OEM that came with my phone. i will post the results when i get them.
