[Q] Anyone using SGS2 on TMO USA? - Galaxy S II Accessories

I was wondering if anyone was actually using the SGS2 on Tmobile USA at the moment. If so can you tell me how edge speeds are if your browsing the web, downloading apps, etc? Is a lot of the functionality lost without 4G? Thanks ahead of time...
EDIT: I meant to post this thread in the Q&A thread not here...........

[solved] 900/1700 (T-Mobile) rom on 850/1900 (AT&T) rom

Hi, i'm an Motorola Defy ex-user.
This week i'm gettin' this phone and i'm reading a lot but i'm still have some questions.
Is there at&t version roms to N1? or can i use anyone avaible?
I'm askin' because i'm afraid to lose 3G using some an incompatible rom. Or there is not any chance to lose 3G modding this phone?
You may notice that english is not my native languaje, so be understandable with me.
No there is no specific roms for the at&t version.
They all work just fine. I have the at&t one and every roms 3g works for me.

Just make sure you get att version of the phone if you want att 3g. And vice versa for tmobile.
Roms do not matter its the radios inside the actual phones that matter.
And this is the WRONG forum by the way.

Thanks for the answers.
By the way, i didn't know what section was the correct.
Please move to the correct one and close it because my question has been solved.
Again, thanks a lot.

[Q] sgs3 using 3G connection? (Less heat)

Honestly I dont need 4g or lte as thry generate way too much heat. Is there a mod to force our phones to use 3g instead??
I think this may help in both battery life and heating up.
My s2 x hercules using 4g didnt heat up as bad...
Its just too hot for me since the antennae is heating on the place we hold the phone in portrait mode
Anyone can point me on the right direction??
Maybe I can play around with the RIL???

Wrong forum bud, you want q&a. But.... I think Rogers has a toggle and is the same model number as you, so maybe. I know on at&t there's no working toggle as of yet.

Well, the easiest way is flashing the JellyBean 4.1.1 rom from cyanogenmod, I get HSPDA and 3G on it and I wish I had 4gLTE. The rom doesn't seem to have much issues. I am using it as a daily driver and it is pretty good.
Well, the Rogers version has the switch under Settings > Mobile Networks > Network Mode
Dunno about telus, but I'm pretty sure it should be there otherwise you'll need to flash a custom ROM to make this happen as suggested above or use an APN with the 3G settings instead of the LTE settings...
I would have got the international version if I didn't want the device to get the blazing data speeds LTE can offer.
It would be a useful tool to have for our LTE devices though. Since not everyone wants or has LTE anyway. I plan on keeping LTE on but to each there own.
i love LTE speeds, makes the experience completely different than the international ( i know i have both). But the battery drain on LTE is maddenly and the heat is quite disturbing.

AT&T S3 on Tmobile

Hey guys I'm about to buy an at&t galaxy s3 but my service is under tmobile so I have a few questions. As for making it run all I need to do is unlock the phone and put my tmobile sim in right? I also have seen that the 3g won't work, does this mean I have no internet access (other than wifi)? Also is there any way around this?
And any other issues I should know about before buying the att version?
I realize some of these have been answered already, but I am very new to the smartphone game so a lot of the terms I see in other posts confuse me :silly:
You can run edge which is pretty slow internet.
You can unlock for free. Look into general section.
I guess you need to change apn but not sure on that

Unlock the phone
You can get 2g/edge speeds whatever you want to call it, just in put the tmobile apn. If there is 1900 service on tmobile you would get the 4g. I'm using an iphone 5 on 2g speeds, it gets the job done for basic browsing and email.

[Q] TMO S3, switching to ATT. Any tweaks, rom advice?

Hey all, atm I use the stock rom, rooted for tmobile. (Stock rom isnt that bad for JB tbh.. to my surprise) However I just switched to ATT, waiting on my nano to micro adapter to come in so I can switch back to use it. Now as far as I read, I should have the 3g and 4g bands just fine, I just wont have LTE on ATT, correct? Next up, aside from using titanium backup to force uninstall TMOs software, was wondering, should I change out my rom too or is stock still cool to use for ATT?
That or what is everyone else doing if they took their S3 to ATT or tweaks that could help for network speed etc. That or apps that are good for ATT on it. Thanks.
Anyone? Or is there no tweaks or more ideal rom builds. Atm I mange to get 3-4 Mbps download speeds. Not sure how fast Iphone 5 gets.. Didnt test and dont feel like taking the sim out again tonight lol.
As suggested by the ATT S3 section of the forums, Ill put my post here too with more details on what I could be looking for.
Hello, Just changed from Tmobile to ATT. I already unlocked it, and am running it on 4G. Sad part is, download is only like 1-3 Mbps it seems. While my Iphone 5 can get close to 7 Mbps (Now this is just 4G band, NOT LTE)
So I am wondering if there are some tweaks I need to adjust in the build.prop or anything else. Atm I just use the stock rom thats rooted. (Since it seems nice enough for JB and honestly, I havent figured out which custom rom beats the stock rom 100% without losing any features.
Also noticed I cant install the ATT Visual voicemail as it claims device isnt compatible. (Which that I am sure I can use a build.prop edit for the model. Question is, which model and items do I need to adjust and to what value?)
Anyways, if anyone has some good advice about using the tmobile S3 on ATT and getting it tweaked to be the best it can be, or a rom that is perfect for switching between ATT and Tmobile (should I use my prepay tmo sim in it again) and provide high data speed. Would be great.
Oh also.. just so I know. Can I use the ROMs posted in this ATT section of XDA for the t999 tmo s3 or do I need to still only use roms from the tmo s3 section of xda? Thanks. =)

Not sure about the other stuff, but with regard to this, your phone is still a t999 no matter what carrier you are with. Hardware doesnt change, so I would recommend you stick around in the tmo section.
Some att ROMs may work, but not sure which, so if you DO want to use an att rom, I would suggest asking the dev if it will work for the t999.
Sorry I couldnt answer about the rest, im too noobish for all that

Yea thats the trick, Seems its hard to even find that advice lol. I mean long as I dont use the international s3 roms. Just between Tmobiles and ATT. I dont know. I dont even know if its considered the same model and could use the same rom. Perk of using an ATT rom, may increase my network speed some along with being able to use their apps. Atm I cant use the ATT Visual voicemail since it says my phone isnt compatible. Which I know I could prob bypass that with the build.prop provided I knew which model to make my phone.

Sprint Galaxy Note 4 on T-Mobile

There is an unlocked Sprint Note 4 for sale for 100.00.
I have been searching forums looking for a clear answer that says someone did it and speeds and functionality worked 100% but so far I haven't found anything clear.
So my question is...can an unlocked Sprint Note 4 be flashed or modified to work on T-Mobile without speed/communication issues or because the Bands are different there will always be issues?
And if it is possible where is the tutorial to do so?
Thanks in advance for your help

Yes and No. But first let me state i use at&t/cricket not t-mobile.
You will definitely not get Lte. But you will get 4g H+ speeds. At least i do with at&t.
I've been using a sprint phone on gsm for 3 years. Just recently got a tmobile one for lte. Only difference i use at&t/cricket.
If you can do without lte, no problem. Or just find a tmobile one.
Use this website, it's helpful for these questions.

I also attached 2 pics. One is speed of sprint phone on 4g, other is tmobile phone on lte.
Good luck with your choice. If you decide to get, message me, and I'll give you pointers for setting up roms to be more gsm.
