Swyped from my DroidDefy using xda Premium app
India FLIPKART............so the product is genuine and original
Its not the imei code.......i know whats imei
msn code is not imme code
16 numbers
mine says that it made here in brazil, but, the tag dont say when=/
Mine is l596qa2q6m
tianjin china, Jan 2011.
Bought in HK in Jan 2011 during my holidays
There's another sticker written made in China with 2 other 10-digits codes
mine is L59AQL2DP6....
Mine: china, gen 2011. To me it look like green lense.
Any use of this? I have a sticker on my phone package with same info...
Mine:
Place: "N" (so, I don't know where it has been made - but read below)
Year: 2011
Month April (1st half)
Bayer camera (red lens)
Since another sticker in my phone shows "made in Brazil", I'll assume that N means it has been made in Brasil, obviously. Plus, it looks like "A" means it has been made in India (since 3 indian guys said above that their phone has an "A" as fourth digit).
And, since there is no official word about the difference between SOC and Bayer camera modules (A.K.A., respectively, green and red lens), we could use this info to define precisely when the phones with the new camera started being made. Not sure about how this info could be useful, anyways (it's easier to look on the color of the lens - even though it does NOT define what module the camera has -, or to use logcat D:LibCameraCommon then open the camera app to find out the module - this method is 100% precise, and can state that phones with green lens CAN be 720p-and-official-gingerbread-capable, and that phones with red lens CAN have an old module, and so be 720p-and-official-gingerbread-incapable).

Hi all,
i am thinking of selling my galaxy ace (1month old) and buying a defy. Though the problem is there is no service center of motorola in my whole state. I am from India. What i want to ask is this-
does this phone has any bugs or shortcomings which may lead me to visit a service center. Samsing galaxy ace has a sod bug.
I really cannot take the risk of buying this phone if it has any bugs which might appear later.
Scanned the forum. Seems like phone can have earpiece issues. Can any Indian user confirm that we are not hving this issue.
About mb525 or mb526, Is there any way to check this on the shop?
Thanks.
seems like mb526 hasn't released yet but there are leaked roms of 526 which are compatible with red lense defy.
If before buying, you can check that the phone has red lens, then there shouldn't be a problem for the earpiece. (most red lens donot have earpiece problems) you can also check by entering the IMEI # on the box, here: moto110.com check if your phone is manufacuted in late jan -feb or later, 2011, then there shouldn't be a problem.
apart from doing something that may brick you phone, there is not a high possibility that may lead you to a service center. Make sure you keep all the ports closed when not using them. ( USB and Headphone slots)
Regarding MB526, there is no official news from moto about that, but there are leaked versions of Gingerbread (2.3.3 & 2.3.4) which have device name set to MB526 by default. This may be a hint to a new Defy+ or Defy2. Just a hint.
In a shop in india, you probably wouldn't be getting defy as MB526. But who knows, maybe the shop is selling defys with 2.3.4 already flashed. Only way to check is by switching it on, then going to system settings to find that out. It would say:
Model number: MB526
Android version: 2.3.4
dude defy is the best handset..i surveyed alot b4 buying this beautiful handset..defy is worth it..dint have any probs till now..and dude motorola has service centre in every city..
MB526 is not yet out in the market...only leaked android 2.3.4 is out which was for mb526(which also runs on mb525).
no ear piece problem till now...everything runs smoothly
btw ACE sucks to be frank...even u will think like me once u use defy with custom ROM

dude moto doesn't even have a single showroom in UP & Uttarakhand, let alone a service center. This was the main reason of me buying ace.
I will be buying defy online. And they have a june model. So I think I am sold. Thanks a lot guys.

moto doesnt have exclusive showroom anywhere in india i guess..but as far as i know they have service centre in all cities..at my place there r 2 service centres..
same case with sony ericsson..they dont have exclusive showroom..coz they cant keep a whole shop just to showcase few mobiles..
i understand that sellers dont keep moto phones after they backed out of indian market..they say no one buys moto..
even i bought online as models were not available at my place..i had to go to bangalore just to see defy with my naked eyes ..to feel it in my hands..but online price was cheaper..so i bought it

hey dude, how to check for a service center in my city?
no one buys moto because there are no ads. you know i can have near 10 exceptional ads keeping in mind water resistant features of defy.
The biggest complaint I see on the non-us moto forum for Defy Indian users is the phones they're buying for (or from) their carrier are all 2.1.

[Q] Purchasing a new Phone
I'm also planning to buy Motorola Defy. But am not sure whether it would be a good decision or not. I live in India (presently at Kolkata, but would be shifting to Bangalore in a couple of months).
I have heard that the support of Moto over here is not impressive & I may land into trouble if there are some issues with the phone after the expiry of warranty period (coz many believe that most of the hardware inside moto aren't discrete & thus the whole board needs to be replaced). If this is true, the cost for repairing can be very high!
My second concern is the OS support. I don't know whats MB526 is actually. Do the new phones come with MB526 & no earphone problem?
What are the prerequisites, that I must check before buying this phone?
please guys this is moto and thats samsung !!
how u can compare ??
motorola = benz - bmw -
samsung = kia motor - lifan - ...
hei!how to check my moto defy manufracture date!
i used my imei and all of the code got behind the phone and i duno which one is msn number!
the site require msn number to check the manufracture date!help pls
edit: just checked with msn code on box
it is manufracture on january 2011
suppose not be problem for earpiece rite @@
Finally after a couple of months of deliberation i got my new Defy!
First check was camera lens colour and it was red! A check of the MSN number revealed that mine is manufactured on March 2011
After that i was pretty certain i got the BAYER camera but wanted to check that too so i ran adb and i got:
Code:
07-09 21:24:17.163 1233 1233 D LibCommonCamera: CameraCommon: Detected BAYER device
Gingerbread! Here i come!

MB526 is a new defy model which will be released soon..
present defy model number is MB525.
OS support will always be there for defy officially or unofficially
As far as i know earphone problem is not an issue here.. very few people got this problem.
before buying a defy just make sure that it has red lens..coz all the new defy are red lens and will be red lens only.so support will only be fore red lens in future.

hi everyone, I think I found out how to see what manufacturing date you have. I found it in the HTC One S thread. You have to take a look at the Serial Number on your box, starting with S/N. The first four digits are the relevant ones. I have a HT23TTV00312. Like I said, the first four digits. In my case: HT23.
The number 3 means that it's the third month of the year, meaning March. I got this phone replaced for my old One V, that one had:HT24, meaning April. I regret that I sent my April One V back because the March version is even worse, gonna send this one back as well.
People over at the One S thread say this method of seeing the manufacturing date is 90% correct. So can you guys verify this? Do any of you have: HT25, meaning the month may?, I wonder if the may phones have problems like yellow spots.
Thanks!
I'm not sure bout my actual manufacture date but mine is HT23, not much problem except the rubber area gets extremely dark in colour after some use....
I've got HT23 and there is dust under my display and the headphone sound is terrible.
This would mean I already have the march version so it can't get much worse when I'll send it back
absolutely correct it is
my sn is SH25
which means may
and its correct my production is of may as it's already written on. our indian boxes thanks for sharing +

-Speaker (I hear a *poc* sound now and then when in a call).
- Too spots of yellow color in the lower part of the screen
- Light leak from the buttons
- Incorrect placement of the back cover of the camera.
Tomorrow I will get my replacement hopefully it will be one made in may.

Well, I thought that it was march, but it was April. And I've replaced my phone with one from May and I have no problems (it is also imported from Asia). The only problem remaining now is that I cannot use one specific carrier because it is locked. I can use only Vodafone and Cosmote and I need Orange carrier!

The two first letters indicate what factory the phone has been made in. It's either HT or SH for production units, or MB for repair centre swap units.
First: HT24 - yellow spots
Second: HT23 - yellow spots
Third: (guy in service center give me to choice from 4 pieces of them) SH25 - no problems.
HT mean manufacture in Taiwan, SH manufacture in China.
My is HT25, except some really small light leak from the buttons I don't have any problems with it.

Mine was bought in Calgary, Canada serial SH26 (June manufacture).
Had it since Monday morning, playing with it loooots, no problems so far. I even dropped it on the ice showing one of my speedskaters a burst shot of her corners, no damage!

No problem! I just ordered mine via TopCashBack and it shows £13.71 cashback should be received after a few weeks (not always guaranteed though) so although I had to get a £10 top up plus the phone, it should cost about £67 with cashback recieved etc so I think that's not bad for a brand new Defy+, albeit locked to the Three network.
Well it arrived, totally unbranded and unlocked to any network. It's identical in every respect to the retail unlocked Defy+ that I bought from Amazon last year.
So, no sign of any network branding or locks whatsoever. A great deal I think.
I have ordered one too.
Hope it comes unlocked the same. Ordered mine from 3 online, where did you order yours from?

Yeah I got mine from Three as well as per the link in my first post.... I'm very pleased with it.... I guess they're just shifting old stock, the battery manufactured date was July 2012.
Just bought one form a three shop, as my old defy is battered - scrathed screen, broken battery cover, dust under the screen missing usb port cover adn so on.
As i am already on three, i didnt have to pay for a £10 top up, and it only cost £69.99, the phone is completly unlocked and will work with any sim card.
here are a few stats from the about screen
system version 45.0.2310.MB526.Retail.en.GB
Android Version 2.3.6
Baseband version EPU93_U_00.60.03
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-ge281b6e [email protected]#1
Build number 4.5.1-134_DFP-231

Yep, exactly the same as what I got..... when you went into the 3 store what proof do they need that you're an existing customer? I'm just wondering if I can go in with my new 3 PAYG sim that I got with my new Defy+ and buy another one without buying a topup?
All they asked for was my phone number and my name that was it.
at the moent im now trying to root the thing, BL7s a different beast.
As for the rest of it, the differnce in feel between a well used Defy thats had more than its fair share of knocks and one fresh out of the box is substantial

I recently rooted my other BL7 Defy+ using a guide from here, it wasn't hard and I'll try to find the info. I just used RSDLite, the two files and bingo.
Well, actually I loaded the second file first and got the phone stuck, rebooted and tried again and bingo!
Here's the link that worked for me, choose the two files for EU and don't use one CN and one EU file.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1820282
Ive found the guide, just waiting for the files to download - 4 minutes to go ( alegedly)
went to CEX just out of interest to see if my old defy was worth anything - and the answer was no.
The only reason why im still using an old 'outdated' phone is that there is nothing on the market that has the following
Rugged ( water resitant)
SD card
removable battery
Doesnt look pig ugly
As for stock in the three shops, out of Three stores available, only one had stock - as they had been selling like 'hot cakes' to quote one store sales bod.
currently using this guide

Having never had a Motorola android before, what is the best info regarding root and ROM installing.
Have done it to death on HTC Desire, Samsung Galaxy S2, Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S.
Going to read through the link from your post spannerz, and maybe see from there.
I usually like to watch a YouTube video for first timer like me.
Chill........
Now rooted, what ROMs can I installed now?
All seems a bit confusing really. Would like to install CM7 or CM10, but all this Defy+ and BL7 etc has got me stumped.
I have been reading page after page, but not tryed yet.
Any advice?

This thread will hopefully help anyone expecting a replacement Note 7 and distinguish the facts vs wild media 'grab articles'. Below are some gathered facts regarding replacements so far, including shared replacement experiences worldwide. Please add in your experience and any new facts.
The announcements by the media so far: (feel free to add in or correct this information in the thread, I will update anything that is confirmed)
• Samsung will block your devices from 30th September - (Unconfirmed)
• Samsung will force an OTA through carriers limiting your Note 7 to 60% charge - (Unconfirmed)
• Samsung is issuing refurbished devices - (False)
• Samsung have issued handsets only as a replacement without a box indicating a refurbished unit - (False)
• Samsung is indicating refurbished Note 7 devices (refurbished being recalled stock that is overhauled and reissued as the '2nd batch') via an 'RF' designation in front of the serial number - (False)
• Samsung have a black/blue Square on the replacement device boxes - (True)
• Samsung will have a blue 'S' on the boxes of new batch Note 7 devices - (Unconfirmed)
• Samsung will show a green battery icon via firmware on the new Note 7 batch - (True)
****What has been confirmed?****:
• The new devices have a black/blue square on the box
• Currently affected devices (at least in South Korea) will receive an OTA update to limit the charge capacity to 60% (Samsung have run newspaper ads)
• The serial number can start with 'RF', however, it is not indicative of a refurbished unit, Some of those who ordered directly from Samsung and received the very first units from the original batch had 'RF' beginning serial numbers. It doesn't indicate a refurbished device.
• From Tuesday 20/09/2016, affected devices in the UK will also receive a software update that limits the battery charge to 60% of its full capacity.
• Replacement batteries, some are still SDI, shown via the "batt_type" identification file on the new devices.
• Those who have reported in to XDA have all said that replacements were received in sealed boxes, a new device.
• Some users have been prompted with an error message affecting access to the Secure Folder and S Health. The error encountered on some replacement '2nd batch' Note 7 devices gives the following message:
Alert: Secure Folder cannot be setup because unauthorised software was installed on this device.
&
(S Health) Unable to open app: Your device has been compromised. Because of a new security policy introduced in version 5.0, Knox is not available on compromised devices.
If you're affected, XDA user @violet182 discovered that resetting the firmware using the 'Software update and initialisation setting' via SmartSwitch on a PC/Mac will resolve the issue.
What does this all mean? Well, it points to a frantic media running as many reports as they possibly can, greatly adding to the confusion as anything and everything is being reported without much investigation. Above are facts gathered from our very own community, by sharing first hand experience as Note 7 owners we can stay ahead of the rumour mill.
Firstly well done for this thread
• Samsung is indicating refurbished Note 7 devices (refurbished being recalled stock that is overhauled and reissued as the '2nd batch') via an 'RF' designation in front of the serial number
Explain this then to the idiot's in the media ...
My 1st Note which received on the 30th August 2016 had RF in from of the serial
My replacement which i received 12th September 2016 has RF in front of the serial
So my 1st which I ordered from Samsung UK direct and was in 1st 1000 was a refurbished model ??? say is as I still have it at home
Ok to share my experience for this thread...
Country of Purchase - UK
Phone Supplier - O2
Date original received - 30/08/16
Date Replacement Recieved - 12/09/16
Sticker on replacement box - Small black square
Serial Number Starting Letters (Original) - RF
Serial Number Starting Letters (Replacement) - RF
Manufacture Date of Replacement - 01/09/2016
Country of Manufacture - Vietnam
The whole RF being a refurb is bull how can my device be manufactured on the 1st of the month, be sent out, sold to a customer, returned to Samsung, refurbished, sent back out to the network provider and then sent to me within 11 days!
Received mine today (Canada). Original = 08/31/16, replacement = 09/15/16. Small black square on box, Made in China, serial number opening characters on both original and replacement = R28.
Also just set up Secure Folder and no problems there as I wanted to test that line in OP.
edit: This might be completely unrelated to the exchange program, but my original had the screen protector placed inaccurately, in that the lower half of the top speaker+lens+sensors were covered by it, letting it get some air underneath and struggle to stay on with my case (at the top). The replacement is placed perfectly, and I mean I just grabbed my measuring tape and checked like the huge nerd I am and it is precise, just perfect.

edit: This might be completely unrelated to the exchange program, but my original had the screen protector placed inaccurately, in that the lower half of the top speaker+lens+sensors were covered by it, letting it get some air underneath and struggle to stay on with my case (at the top). The replacement is placed perfectly, and I mean I just grabbed my measuring tape and checked like the huge nerd I am and it is precise, just perfect.

Thanks for this, I'm going to amend the line accordingly. I have noticed with my replacement that the reported expansion gap (present on my first device) is no longer present, no light bleed can be observed either.

How can I see the manufacture dates? I checked on the box there's nothing nor on the little label on the back of the phone, just serial number and model number etc. The dates I gave are for when I received/activated the phones.

You're welcome, thanks for contributing.
my note 7 bought before the recall, on 28 august, has a a serial beginning with RF, so, RF means nothing
From Canada here. Received my replacement phone today. It is sealed in the box but it does not have black or blue dot or sticker. Not sure if I should open it still.
Hey guys I'm curious did you have to return the phone and the box with everything to get the new one or just the phone? Thanks

I find the manufacturing info to be terribly inaccurate. My GS7 clearly states "MADE IN INDONESIA" on the box, but the app says China.
I'm in abu dhabi. Unit manufactured July 30, serial number starts with RF. Waiting for replacement. Is anyone there returned the unit with box incomplete accessories? They accept?

Is the imei listed on the sticker on the outside of the box? If so check it on samsung website to see if it says you are OK.

yes i checked...it says unrecognized. but my old phone it says affected...so i'm assuming the new one is ok
My replacement also shows as unrecognised. I think you're okay to keep the device. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for anymore reports of a replacement in Canada not having a sticker, if another instance occurs I'll update.
Thanks for sharing!
How can I see the batt_type for my note 7. I've tried the Phone INFO Samsung App?
I've bought the white 8/256 from Amazon ( Italy ) and they say it will arrive on the 16th of April.
What about yours? What platform have you bought it from and when will it arrive?
Me, too (same seller, storage, color and ETA).
I bought mine on the POCO store Italy, 6/128 white.
Estimated arrival time is between the 9th and 13th of April.
I ordered mine on the 30th from a Dutch retailer, 8/256 black. Should arrive in about one hour

I got it a few hours ago. First thing I did was remove all the bloatware with the Xiaomi ADB/Fastboot Tools. The phone looks and feels great, coming from a Oneplus 3, this is a major upgrade. The display is awesome and the UI is nice and snappy. There is however one problem with the phone and that is the haptic feedback motor. It makes a sound like plucking a rubber band with a lot of tension on it... Putting the haptic feedback up to max produces a crackling or popping sound.
The retailer I got it from has a 31-day no reason required return policy. I think I'll keep mine until the white model becomes more readily available and then swap it. Until then I'll just turn off haptic feedback altogether. If anyone has a similar problem, please let me know.
Order it (black 8GB/256GB) one minute before the official start at Amazon Germany, should arrive at 9th of April.
I should get mine on 12th of April.
Sadly Amazon didn't list the deep ocean blue one, so I went with the black 8/256.

Bought mine from Poco Store on Aliexpress on the first minute of launch day, 8/256 black cause I rly can't find white/blue phones nice to look at, had a xiaomi note 9 that I sold a couple of months ago and rly did not enjoy the blueish color. Hoping to receive mine in 14 days, already in transit to where I live (China - Brazil).
Got my from poco official store inside Lazada app. Its been ship frm China. Pre order on 27 March. Some of those who ordered 30 mins after pre order open already have theirs ship. My ordered 1 min after pre order open at 12.01am is just packed. China is having national holiday atm for few days so I hope they start working again on Monday. Hopefully I will receive it end of next week? Or max in 10~14 days time.
