HBOOT 1.76.0007 will only boot HTC signed images.
If you can get into normal OS of the phone there is a way.
You can use flashrec to get a custom recovery image on it.
Follow these instrcutions from the Unlockr:
http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/27/how-to-root-your-htc-hero-in-one-click/
Follow it closely, once you have the new recovery flashed you can update HBOOT.
WARNING: Flashing your HBOOT is risky and you may brick your phone. I'm not responsible
I've got a HBOOT 1.76.0004 signed zip you can use to flash your HBOOT.

I will give it a try. Thanks for your help.

Is there anbody who knows how to flash HBOOT 1.73.0004 without sd card???
My phone doesn't recognize sd cards anymore. That was the reason why i have flashed the new ROM with RUU. I thought that it maybe will work. There is another thread for this.

I can't get the new recovery since my build can't except adb or fastboot boot. Is their away to update the hboot other than that?
Any one success in using fastboot to boot the recovery image in ruu mode as show in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559204 ?
It doesn't work in RUU mode. I have tried all ways. I try flashing hboot with zip file and with img file directly.
Every time ERROR - <<writing 'hboot'... INFOsignature checking... FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)>>.
I have tried flashing recovery to patched with the same ERROR occurred. Also boot command in RUU mode with patched recovery doesn't work.
Have you guys tried using the latest flashrec to get a custom recovery on the phone?

I have tried with flashrec and it works, successful with some custom recovery images. However, if I keep the stock ROM Hero 1.5, I don't have root access (su commands are not allowed). With some custom ROM like Modaco 3.0, Hero 2.1 (v1.5), I do have root access with su and I can use some apps like AppsToSD, QuickBoot....
I tried to go back to the stock ROM Hero 1.5 to root but I couldn't get root access on this ROM, anyone knows how to deal with this?

[Q] HBoot update

Hey,
I've got an HOX from T-Mobile and the CID is T-mob101.
The HBoot version is 0.96.0000.
Is it possible to update the HBoot? At the moment i can't use Android Revolution HD because even after flashen the kernel first and then the rom it doesn't work.
The phone is rooted and still S-ON.
Would be nice if anyone could help me.

R: [Q] HBoot update
If you have a backup, you can restore this and make the official update and after flash a rom.
Or, you can see if there is a firmaware.zip for upgrade your hboot
Sent from HOX
Hey,
Thanks for your answer.
But where to get such a zip?
I don't have any backup...
Maybe anyone else?

Sooo,
1.
I tried to restore a backup of my cid T-mob101 but even after the checksum5-check and the "restore complete" there is only an bootloop...
2.
When I try to install the firmware.zip there is only "can't open bla bla installation abroted (bad)"
so it seems as if both ways don't work. Awwww I hate the Telekom

You have to relock the bootloader, reboot in ruu mode and flash the firmware
After you have to unlock the bootloader and flash a JB rom
Sent from HOX
Hey,
the CID of my device isn't listed in your link. So I tryed to relock and flash the firmware but it fails.
If I try the second method I don't update the HBoot...
I already had an Rom with 4.2.1 on the HOX (IceColdJelly) but I wan't to update to use another one.
So for me there is no way to update the HBoot version? What the heck, is this possible. :'(
Muff(in)
Step 1: Flash a new JellyBean Sense ROM of your choice --> current Android Revolution HD
Step 2: Flash a custom kernel --> Downloaded zip in Recovery
Step 3: Flash boot.img --> via OneClickTool
Step 4: Reboot

For official OTAs, you need to return to stock ROM and stock recovery. Then you should be able to update by OTA, which will also update hboot.

So then i just need to download a stock rom from here and run the OTA? Would that come with the stock recovery? Is there a way to do it without having to do that?
Thanks for the help!

No, you need to flash the stock recovery seperately. Get your stock ROM and recovery for your CID at the following thread (includes detailed instructions):

Another way to run the OTAs? For the most part NO. The exception being some US variants, where you can relock the bootloader and update by RUU. Otherwise, for non-US versions:
You need the stock ROM, otherwise the OTA will fail when it sees the /system (ROM) files have been modified from "stock".
You need the stock recovery, since this is required to actually install the OTA. Without the stock recovery, the OTA will attempt to install, fail, and you will be stuck in a bootloop as the phone keeps trying to reboot into stock recovery.
Unless you mean, is there another way to update hboot. The only other way would be to s-off the device by sunshine.

Auto OTA update from Android 5.1 / 2.11.617.15 - boots into TWRP

Hi!
Sorry for the basic question - I have an M9 and I did install TWRP and SuperSU as well and rooted successfully when I first got the phone and not r/w as I thought that way I could get the OTA update to 6.0
I get the System Update message where it is trying to go from 2.11.617.180 to the 3.xx but it boots into TWRP.
What's the next step? Am I to boot into the Recovery option in TWRP and the update will continue?
Or should I just do it manually?
Thanks!

You are rooted and with custom recovery, u can't take OTA with a modified rom
The only way is to revert to stock or if u r s-off then flash the MM ruu.zip , but mind that if dont have the dev edition change ur cid and mid to the corresponding ruu u are flashing

So it's time to update to oreo firmware first.
You need the ruu that matches the OS line in download mode. Not all x.xx.118 ruu files will work. If you have a S-ON device that is. Check the number and post it here so we can have a look.
i need any ruu file so i can downgrade and do ota or just upgrade with ruu
i installed viper10 but ota shows no updates :/ (7.0)

Of course it doesn't show an update, a custom rom never offers OTA updates and definetly no firmware updates.

you restore your OS to stock by flashing it, after that reboot and install the official htc OTA and you are on oreo.
i'm only giving you the most easy way to upgrade to oreo because that's what you want because you want to run LOS 15, these are all my experiences and i try to help. If you find another way easier and that way suits you more please be my guest.
