When I use the Google Voice Search to say "Call xxxx" (xxxx = any search term/non-contact) the number that shows after the search has a +1 in front of it. When it tries to dial it would ring, then a Verizon message would say the number cannot be dialed. I was hoping flashing CM7 would take care of this, but now it just fails to dial without the Verizon message. It fails immediately after attempting to dial.
I've seen a few topics across the web about this, most of them have to do with the phone adding a country code in place of the number and failing. However, I can't find a working solution.
CM7 doesn't appear to have call settings that would help. Has anyone experienced this issue? Can you dial a number that begins with a +1 from inside the US? I've heard (don't want to test) that dialing other countries with the plus sign works. I've also read that it's a known issue with HTC, and they may be working on a fix.
It's not a major problem, but that's what I typically use voice search for is searching for an address or number quickly. It's kind of a pain to memorize the number and dial that way.
For what it's worth, the issue is gone after flashing MIUI. It may be that I wiped the dalvik cache before flashing this one.

I installed Virtuous Unity today (latest release) on my Dinc2 and like it. Noticed one thing that I have not seen before and can't seem to find anyone else referencing this "bug". I use Google Voice for my voicemail. I also use Google Voice for my business number and the default cell number as personal, thus allowing me to use two phone numbers on the same phone...
Anyway, if I get a message, it shows in Google Voice as it should. If from GV I select the number and dial out using Google Voice, it works fine. However, if I choose to dial from my actual cell number, I get "The network is busy. Please try again later."
I can duplicate this behavior 100% of the time. If i direct dial the same number it works fine, seems to only affect returning calls from Google Voice.
Any ideas? I need this to work as it does in stock and other ROMs. Unsure if it is passing something unusual through the dialer or what, but I have never seen this before.
Thanks,
-myk
Looks like the issue may be with a +1 appended to the phone number. However the stock ROM doesn't fail with the +1 which leads me to believe there may be some sort of bug in the dialer app. I have noted one other user on the forum that has noted the same problem but haven't found any resolution yet. Would be glad to accept any input on the subject.

Some people reported google voice issues similar to this that was resolved by disabling 3rd party access under settings>call settings> 3rd party access. Worth a shot.
This option doesn't seem to exist. I notice that with this ROM, Google Voice produces and error in the phase where you set up the voicemail, I wonder if that has something to do with it..

I have exact same problem w/Virtuous Unity. I'm on version 2.39 but even the previous version had the same problem. I so much want them to fix this, because otherwise I may go to a different ROM.
My temporary fix is to use Google Voice to be able to dial +1 numbers from my phone list, but this is so inconvenient to me....Please please please developers fix +1 dialing problem
Seems like certain roms have issues with Google Voice. I use Google Voice for my voice mail, and with certain roms, when I go to dial out from Google Voice, whether it be using my GV number or my native Verizon number, a +1 is appended to the phone number and I get an error stating the network is busy.
At the moment, I am using TSM Gingerbang Evolved and it works fine. I get the network issue with Virtuous Unity (is the name right?) and more recently with RunnyDroid. I like some of the features of these other ROMS but cant put my finger on what the common factor is that makes Google Voice cause problems with dialing.
I'd like any assistance at all on this.. I think I may have read elsewhere that there are issues with Sense 3.0 and up with Google Voice, but I cant seem to locate that article now.
Is there no way to properly use Google Voice with higher versions of Sense?
Thanks,

Anybody? Are any other users experiencing the same issue? I read a few posts on random forums where some had the same problem, but no resolution other than trying a different ROM. Perhaps I should change my question..
What Sense-based ROMs have you guys used that still works great with Google Voice dialing out from a voicemail?
Seriously? I can't be the only one experiencing this. Anybody at all? Maybe I'm the only one who uses GV.
Sorry man, I don't use it. I read something about having to pay for voicemail using it one time and just stopped

You're not the only one having this issue. I'm experiencing the same problem as well but I just did the work around and edit the number i'm dialing out to delete the + from the number. It's a pain in the butt if you do it all the time but I normally just "send a text" to that number, edit the number, delete the +, copy and paste it into the phone app and dial out from there. A lot of extra steps but it works.
I'm sure someone will get around to figuring out why this is happening

This bothered me so much over the past few days I finally did some digging and I found a great workaround. It's actually an app on the market. It can edit any number you dial automatically to remove or add whatever it needs to.
Prefixer
By 253°Below
Run the app, Menu>Add Rule>Manual>Outgoing
You can label the title whatever you want.
Make sure the Rule is enabled
Under "When Number Matches" Type this in
\+?[0-9]{7,}
That tells it if a number is at least 7 digits long preceded by a + in the beginning.
During Days>Mon-Sun
From Time> 00:00
To Time> 23:59
Remove Characters
\+[1]
That's it. Try dialing a number from anywhere. Some of my facebook contacts automatically have a +1 in front of them and i'm now able to call without editing the number manually every single time.
THANK YOU!
That was driving me crazy...
thank you very much, this works like a charm and makes ROMs much more usable
Wonder why the devs of these ROMs don't include something like this, as you would think everyone has this problem. It may not be an issue with the built in phone call log, but definitely is if you use Google Voice.
thanks again
***** FIXED ***** CALLED AT&T TO RESET VOICEMAIL ***** PLEASE REMOVE THREAD *****
I am using a stock GSM GNex, unrooted, and I noticed, when I receive calls, the caller does not go to voicemail and when I attempt to check voicemail, I am told that I do not have a voicemail box. This is a new problem, because before, I had voicemail and I set it up using AT&T. When I long press the number "1" on the dial pad I get a recording that says to enter the phone number of the party you are trying to reach. I enter my phone number and it says that the number is not listed. I can receive and make calls to anyone no problem, but voicemail all of a sudden stopped working. I went into the phone settings and checked the phone number listed as my voicemail number, it is not the same as my regular phone number, so I changed it to my number and I was getting a busy signal when I tried to check my voicemail after that. Any ideas??? I don't think calling AT&T will do me any good as they think I am using a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. Please help, I need to get voicemails if I don't get to the phone in time!!
Thanks
I'm not sure how to fix your problem but, have you tried google voice as your voicemail client? Maybe you can use that instead.
To be honest I want to fix the issue and I don't want to use Google Voice. When I did a search before posting this I read a lot of people were using that service, but I want to get the real problem fixed. Thanks though.
Does anyone think the problem could be because I have a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket as my main phone on my plan, and that phone uses visual voicemail? And somehow now the phone won't activate voicemail because of that? When I dial my number and call myself, I get a busy tone.
1) Your VM number is either incorrectly programmed into the phone, or whoever set up your account didn't provision you with the VM feature. Call your carrier, they can verify with you whether your phone is correct or it's their system. No one on XDA can't help you with a shortcut.
2) Get Google Voice. Carrier VM systems are utter crap by comparison. That is the "real" solution to your "real problem".
The voicemail number is the same as it was when I set it up the first time. BTW, using Google Voice is not the "real" solution to my "real problem". If you don't know the answer to the question or you think no one else here will, you don't have to emphasize your love of Google Voice, I just don't want to use it so I am trying to figure out how to fix it. Thank you.
Oh, and maybe you should change your user name if you hate AT&T so much.
So Google Voice doesn't work reliably with the P6. If you try to make a call through Google Voice (official app) the dialer gives the error "Call Not Sent" and the phone instead makes the call through the SIM card's phone number. This must be due to some customizations Huawei have made with the dialer. Sometimes if you hang up quickly, the call will be completed through a Google Voice phone number, but this is rare.
It also might be related to the permissions manager, but disabling it still didn't resolve the problem. I tried different dialer apps, but that also didn't fix it. Any ideas? Making GV calls over data (Groove IP, etc) isn't an option for me.
I've emailed Huawei a couple of times without any response and contact Google Voice through their support page, and basically there is little hope that this will be fixed anytime soon. Unless CM or MIUI are ported.
i already asked this ques few days ago and noone replied... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2435521
I'm actually talking about the Google Voice app:

Still crapy woman android with nose covered ..
I recently purchased a Z1 Compact and have discovered that when using Google Voice to dial all calls, the wrong number is stored in the call log. This makes it hard to track who I'm calling. From what I've read, this is the number that Voice calls before connecting you to your contact. The way it's worked previously on other phones is that the contact number is stored in the call log and the go-between number is called in the background. This is the proper way and what I'd like to get back to. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm on 4.4.4. If anyone has Lollipop, has this issue been fixed? The one workaround I've seen is that you should store these numbers in the contact information (as each number is specific to a contact) so that you'll see your contact in the call log, but I'd rather just fix the issue. Ultimately, I believe the issue stems from Sony modifying the stock dialer such that the Voice app doesn't hook in properly to show the contact phone number in the call log. I've seen that some Samsung phone users have the same issue. Please let me know if you have any advice.
Whatever the issue was, it has been fixed in Lollipop.
