So yea thinking about getting a nexus s and droping my evo. Pros Nd cons plz?
Sent from my UNROOTED -_- EVO using XDA App
Just depends if you like Sense builds or NonSense builds. Nexus is probably a little faster becasue you dont have to run such a big OS but its really all personal preference. I myself like Sense builds, now that the EVO has GB, battery life is tremendously better and the fact that you can either run Sense/NonSense builds on the Evo why Get a Nexus S if you can have the same rom, live wallpaper and GB keyboard that looks identical. HDMI, 8mp camera, more support and a bigger screen- what's not to love?!
But again, personal preference! Good luck
Well I like asop Roms but my EVO is unrooted with hboot 2.16, sure would love to have cm7 on my EVO but I think they'll never root the new hboot

I was thinking the same thing. I have an upgrade available on another line on my account and with the sprint buy back for $150 that would mean the nexus would be free. I dont know if i should be patient and wait for 2.3 to be rooted or just get a nexus. My rooted evo was having problems so they sent me a new one..... with 2.3

I'm looking for the stock camera app from the Samsung Epic that has the good panoramic pictire setting. Does any one know if there is a way to get it on our Evo's? I absolutely love the way the panoramic option works. Thanks everyone that builds roms and themes.

I am actually looking for our good old stock camera app for the Evo. I personally think they did a great job with it. I am currently using CM7 and pretty disappointed with the camera. Any clue on how to get the stock camera?
By the way, never used the epic camera bit this panoramic option sounds intriguing I may need to check it out too if someone knows how to her this apk.

Yeah it's pretty cool. It automatically takes 8 pictures that are lined up to make one long picture. I love they part of my wifes Epic.

My mom is gonna get my Desire HD, because I'm getting my dad's iphone.
Now, I've been using MIUI for the last few months, but it has been very unstable lately and also not that easy to use.
My mom really needs an easy-to-use-rom, with that:
-stable + good battery life
-good calendar
-big buttons and font for her to see
-no maintenance needed (like I set it up for her, and she can just use it.)
What could you suggest?
Thanks in advance
Although I really dislike Sense roms, they should fit right in what you want. Try Android Revolution HD.
Take a look at this for the ROM:
[ROM][Nov 6][v3.1][Desire HD] BeatMod BlissSense Hybrid | Sense 3.5 | 2.3.5
It's stable fast and looks great
I would leave it stock. Custom roms are not for everyone.
How about you keep the DHD and give your mom the iPhone.

haha i agree with this
my mum recently got a DHD and she's using the stock sense no problem.
she explicitly told me to stay away from her phone i threatened to root it and put cyanogenmod on it but she's not keen, she's happy the way it is. so i'm with zelendel, stick to stock i think. it's built to be easy to use
and as for battery life, she barely uses it so she gets 2 days out of it easy. even though battery life isn't great with stock sense, it might not be as big of a problem

I am 4 days into the Dinc2 and am enjoying it so far as I am sad to say a former DX2 owner. I have worked on HTC's before and always find Synergy Rom's in the forums. I am not seeing it here like in the Dinc forum's or Evo forum's. I am curious if anyone knows if we will see something here for Synergy or no? I liked it on the Evo but it wasn't my phone so I didn't get to play with it to long. Any heads up would be great Thanx!

I am not sure on a synergy release mainly due to the ICS releases coming out. There a lot of devs in our community so it could spark interest.
If you are a fan of synergy I recommend any of nitsujs work. Also over on mikmik newts roms are killer.

That is kind of what I was thinking was holding up some roms I am used to seeing I am running nitsujs TSM Sense M EXT4 5.0.1 with the 3.0 sense patch.
I am far from new to modding but I don't want to run right to the ICS builds just yet I want to explore all the Roms for the Dinc2. I also know I like MikMik Roms as well. Coming of the fascinate and DX2 CyanogenMod builds it's kind of fun to have more build and rom diversity to flash away like an addict haha.

Completely agree. I started with the nexus one. (More than enough Rom variations lol). To the Sony X10 with very few different rom choices. To the Inc2 where we have everything from stock to cm9 and sense 4.
Check out mikrunny, inchd 1.1 (mikmik), nits trinity (full sense 3.0), nits bullet mt4g port, and of course your aosp.
A lot of people run skyraider (teambamf) and mikrunny. Although like stated before the ICS builds are near fully functional.

When is the update for the DINC2 comming out anyone hear anything?
Sent from my Droid Razr Maxx using Tapatalk 2
We have a thread about this, but it's admittedly long and off-topic.
In short, it's not looking good. HTC said we'd get the update in August, but it appears Verizon is holding it back. Our sister phone, the Incredible S, has been updated to ICS and even has kernel source available. On the Incredible 2 all we've got is a leaked testing build courtesy of nitsuj17. At this point, I doubt we'll see an official OTA at all, but HTC and Verizon haven't yet said they won't.
You can try a custom ROM for ICS or Jelly Bean, but without 3.0 kernel source we won't get ROMs that are fully optimized for our device (battery life, drivers, etc). I personally use Aeroevan's unofficial port of CyanogenMod 9. It mostly works, but the battery life is poor and text occasionally looks garbled (requiring a reboot). He also has a very unofficial port of CyanogenMod 10, but that's an unofficial port of a custom ROM that's still in alpha, with a hacked up Gingerbread kernel. If you use that one, don't be surprised if there are problems.
****ing Dix.

Thanks for the reply. I waited for the update but just bit the bullet and got the RAZR Maxx. Ive been thinking about using a custom rom but with previous experience i don't want to sacrifice battery life or worse having it not work at all.

CyanogenMod 7.2 is very stable and has great battery life. It's still Gingerbread, but IMO it's a much better Gingerbread experience than HTC and Verizon provide. It's available as an official download from the CyanogenMod website.
For what it's worth, CyanogenMod is by far the most popular custom ROM for Android devices.

I've been using UKB for the last week or so, and the battery life is pretty much the same as it was before I rooted.
Never tried ukb but I'm not a fan of sense. I'm running cm7 mrom. Very stable and good battery life. Cm9 and 10 are nice but battery life is understandably bad. Not sure what other non sense roms are out there.

I'm not trusting Verizon with updates anymore... besides, I can get a ROM that will be better than the update at any time instead of waiting 8 months for Verizon to push the update.

Do us a favor and let us know where that Rom is? Our developers do an absolutely amazing job with the Inc2, no doubt about that. But they will all admit that their jobs would be many times easier and the end product better if we had an actual OTA ICS update with source released.

I've been using CM roms since my droid eris days.since having the Dinc2 been with cm7.2 and am now using MROM 1-0.2012
Am happy with this rom as stability is my number one factor when considering a custom rom. And it has some eye candy but still is smooth and fast. I am pretty vanilla with my phone i just want it to make calls, reliable sms and mms, and take good pictures. All the play stuff I do on my tablet.
Anyways my question is what are the biggest advantages/drawbacks to running and ICS or Jelly bean rom like paranoid android. Again call quality/stability and camera functionality are my number main concerns.

Well for one, no FFC as with most JB roms i've seen posted. I haven't had any issues with the call quality, it's pretty awesome. When I first flashed it i did however have an issue (that stopped on it's own) when someone would call me and the answer option would pop up, i had slide, i'd slide it answer but it would decline it. but it stopped. the pictures are fine, there are other roms with better camera quality though. i just like it for the customization of the apps mainly

Which Deck ROM are you on? GB? imo, I'd try the shiny new Jelly Bean ROMs, they're a lot of fun! Only downside: the UI is slower than the majority of the newer phones that are preloaded with ICS and JB...
Jelly bread Rom a gingerbread Rom with jelly bean/ics ui

i've been using mazwoz jellybean 4.2 B4 rom. very stable and quick. it's lacking front camera and 4g but that's true for any jellybean rom on the evo.
Sense
I've been an XDA 'shadow user' for over a year now, and I've always been able to trust these forums to find really unique and intuitive ROMS, Kernels, etc.
I've had nothing but an EVO 4G OG for the past 2 years, flashing and tweaking and just all around enjoying swapping things in and out of my EVO.
To the point, though, I've always found CM7 to lack in features and luster for the EVO. IMO, it's always been meant for Sense. I just started rocking D.I.R.T's DigitalKarma v8: Reincarnation, can be found here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1561680&highlight=digitalkarma
It's a Sense 1.0 GB ROM, with lots of speed, and sense 3.0/4.0 UI tweaks, V6 Supercharger baked in, a few sound enhancements, with DSP.... If you're a music lover you'll love it, just throw in PlayerPro with the DSP pack and you don't need Beats or ACID.
Sense has always had the best sound quality for the EVO, I think. If anyone has anything better I'd certainly like to know.
