[Q] Kickstand Cover - Thunderbolt Accessories

I hear some people's Thunderbolts have their kickstands peeling off. Is there an accessory that would cover and protect just the kickstand?

Bump! Mine is peeling off!
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App

Its just a thin plastic coating, don't sweat it.

Mine hasn't started yet but I'm sure it will from removing the protective case to fit it into the care dock.

Phantomskinz.com I got the white carbon fiber chromatic skin for the extended battery and it looks bad ass

Peel the rest of and take some metal poish to it. It'll be shinier. You'll be happy.

have any pics of this?

doubt this will sell unless it drops price alot

Ha just noticed mine is to... Happened on my Hp laptop similar finish. I just scrapped it all off on the laptop..

Mine was peeling so I used some abrasive green scotchbrite pads to take the rest off. Used some zephyr pro 40 metal Polish to Polish it up. Of coarse I taped up the phone around and under the kickstands to prevent dammage. Turned out great!!!! Ill take some pics tomorrow.

Oh wow you're hardcore lol. But yeah I'd love to see pictures of that.

Mine isn't too bad. It's in the beginning phase of peeling. I'm afraid of peeling/scraping the entire thing off because i feel like i would screw up and make it worse. Anyways here's a link of a picture of an extreme case.

Body Glove Clear Case Wit Kickstand. Perfect. PICS!!

I got a body glove case from TMO for $25 and it was worth it.
There are two rubberized parts for grip. Its not bulky and it has the perfect kick stand.
Now some will complain that it doesn't cover the top or bottom but this allows it to fit in the leather case logic holster for icrap 3gs (walmart $14)
I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking.

crazy thing i got that same exact case yesterday too. costs $25 bucks, cute saleswoman.... actually went there looking only for a car mount.
the kick stand is nice and works well, it snaps in place, so it doesnt mistakenly fold easily.
my big problem with it, before i got it, my back cover was like new (i think), but i see a few scratches on it now. i dont know if i did something else, or if i did not snap it on well. I also feel its gonna break whenever i take it off. apart from that its quite nice.
also the car mount i got (its a universal, but i think it might have been made for the mytouch slide). it works perfectly. has a little ball joint on it, so you can watch in portrait or landscape or midway inbetween at any angle. also has a little arm to swivel up or down. the perfect mount. costs $30
I picked up the same case today and seem very happy with it so far. Does not add much bulk and the kickstand seems to work well.
Putting on the case was a bit tricky and taking it off almost seems impossible...any recommendations?
Just pull it off from one side, no trick to it. I did have to replace mine yesterday cause the kickstand stopped locking. SMH

I checked it out when I got my phone... but as you said, it doesn't cover the top and bottom. The kickstand is nice... yes, but other than that, I don't see what this case really has to offer.
I went to 3 different T-Mobile stores and none of them have it. My only concern is since it doesn't cover the bottom, won't it get scratched from whatever surface you put it on top?
This case is awesome.

I got the all black one from Amazon for 21.95. And sir you saved my phones life! I was at the county fair today and I was riding a ride called the zipper (Google it!) So like in the middle of the ride my phone slips out and its banging everywhere. Thank God they have like no gaps for it to fall off. So anyways as I'm seeing my phone bounce every where I'm thinking awww duck! And like 2 minutes later( felt like 2 years) I see my phone in 1 piece with the case scratched up from the plastic. And my screen is alive! I almost died that day.

How did the top and bottom hold up?
Sent from the best phone from TMO... Vibrant

The ultimate screen protector.

Face it, why do we need screen protectors? To protect the screen from our pointy fingers? No. To protect it when we drop heavy objects on our EVO's? Lol, if you are doing that a screen protector wont help. To protect the screen if we drop the phone? That's what the case is for.
So why? The #1 reason we use screen protectors is to prevent scratching the glass when we put the phone in our pockets.
If you are like me and use a silicone case, that screen protector gets pretty scuffed up coming in and out of your pocket and lint sticks like crazy to the case.
Walking through the mall today I stopped by the sunglasses vestibule. There for $4 there were selling these little soft sunglass pouches made of microfiber. I thought hmmmm, pulled out my EVO, dropped it in and put it in my pocket.
No scratches, no lint and I can polish finger marks off the screen just by rubbing the inside of the pouch against it. Also, instead of struggling to grasp the phone, I just grab the top of the pouch and pull it out.
Anyway, now I can have my phone in my pocket without worrying about lint or scratches and I have a carry-along polishing cloth right there.
You can probably buy one of these at any mall. Give it a try.

of course it would...wrapping your phone in plastic wrap would probably yield the same results..
my girlfriend has been doing it this way the whole time she's had her evo. her hero just rolled around in her purse and got all scratched up. so for two days I didn't let her purse it. then we found this method works awesome.

Yep, I only wish those who are making fun of my idea would actually try it:
1) No more scratches on your screen, screen protector or phone body.
2) No pocket lint stuck all over your case.
3) Much easier to take out of your pocket (even in skinny jeans).
4) Super easy way to wipe the oil slick off your screen.
5) Much easier to remove from the pouch than from a snug fitting leather case.
6) Slimmest possible pocket solution.
Oh well, if they enjoy having their phones beat to hell that's not my problem.
Yeah I've known folks to put their phones in their glasses bag / pouch / sack. Not a bad idea and you do get a little touchscreen wipe as well. I usually use my shirt, soft material, to give it a quick clean.

Erm ...
Oh never mind.
Pete
The N1 came with a microfiber lined pouch. Worked just like the pouch you described. One of my favorite accessories for my N1. Wish the EVO had come with one.
I am using the little pouch that came with my MyTouch that is made of microfiber. The Evo fits(barely) and it does protect it like the OP says. I just got this EVO 2 days ago and am waiting for my invisableshield to come in the mail and am using this method until it arrives. It is a little inconvenient and the phone still could get scratched from the plastic thingy used to close the case if you are not careful, but all in all it works. By the way I got a full body invisible protector for free. I just paid something like $2.85USD for shipping. Great Deal!
Thanks for the positive replies. Since I have gotten my EVO purse (I feel like George Castanza) it is the first time I have been able to put my phone in my pocket and absolutely not worry for a second about scratching the screen.
Like Occam's Razor Theory says, "The simplest solution is usually the best".

Thanks op. Does anyone know who makes the N1 pouches? Maybe they have different ones for sale that say "HTC" on them.
via EVO.
Just go to your local mall and check out the carts where they sell sunglasses. They usually have lots of them to choose from for a few bucks.

Where I live, it is usually cold enough that you can wear a jacket. I always buy jackets with an inside pocket by my chest. As a result, I have a similar built in pouch in my jacket where the phone stays safe with nothing else touching it but material.
However, those 40 days where it's hot (in the 70's and low 80's), I have to find other ways...
I like to circumvent the entire dust issue by just using a holster.
Good idea, I've been doing this intermittently for months... Only bummer is that when the phone rings, you have to pull out from your pocket AND then out of the bag. The extra step has resulted in missed phone calls

Carbon fiber-look back for GN

I found the back of my Galaxy Nexus to be a little too slippery, and I had a spare piece of 3M carbon fiber material laying around.
I decided to go ahead and cut it to fit my GN. No worries about that darn Verizon Wireless logo on the back now
I got the material from this guy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=703496

I have that 3M too, but I am afraid the plastic battery cover might get weak since it needs to be heated to apply.. is it safe to blow dry the plastic battey cover based on your experience?

it doesnt need to be heated to apply, I had this carbon fiber on my T-mo GS2 and didnt require to doanything but just apply with solution and let it dry, but this doesnt protect your phone if it drops, so basically pointless, I rather get otterbox, but not sure if it works on gsm version, still puzzled here.
Pretty cool idea, I may look into this.
i am assuming you used 3M DI-NOC? does it stick well to the bumpy surface of the battery door?
Yes, 3M Dinoc and it seems to be holding just fine. I trimmed it just a little bit short but no heat was required just peel the back off and stick

That loos nice! Doubt i could get it looking that good, even if i had the materials.
I've never had any experience cutting or measuring out 3M DI-NOC. does it cut fairly easily? Any tips or anything to watch for when I make my attempt?
It cuts easily. Trace a pattern from your battery door onto the backing of the 3M then cut about 1mm inside of that all around. Use a sharp Xacto knife.

Case mate pop case and visor ag screen protector

Heres a few pics of the casemate case for the s3. I had to go to an at&t store because bestbuy had no accessories (prolly be here on 28th right lol) and i didnt like the sprint ones. And it has a VISOR AG screen protector on it. If your like me and had no clue what these were basically its a screen protector that covers the whole front of the phone not just the screen its self. Its clear for the screen and if you notice its clear not cut out for the back and menu buttons. Then the outer layer is white or blue depending on what color you have. Also this screen protector is fingerprint and bubble free. Normally im an otterbox defender or ballistic HC guy but i gotta admit im liking this

I just ran up to the att store and bought the same setup you did. The grip on the side was most important and it is outstanding. The visor screen cover is excellent as well because there is little to no touch loss. In addition its washable and replaceable. My phone was blue and they only had the white visor, so now it appears white with the white case.
Cons: the stand is very flimsy, but I don't care I never use it.
Loving it, thanks for the heads up.

I've got the same case, direct from Case-mate (Used code 'tough' for 20% off, not sure if it's still active FYI).
I love the case, with one exception.... that kickstand is damn flimsy and unless you're on a PERFECT level surface, forget about Portrait mode. (And yes the website says it's good for portrait or laandscape).
I've emailed Case-Mate to see if they are aware of the kickstand issues and are planning to do anything about them (like retool to a metal like Seidio)....
I need to find a Seidio one local so I can see it in action to determine which I'll keep for the long haul. This one feels real nice in the hand though.
Still waiting on my screen protectors in the mail.. bought like 3 different brands (2 cheapie and 1 seidio), figure i'll try something new

Good :
- Rubber grips on the side
- Buttons click well
- Kickstand
- Feels sturdy overall
- Headphone jack area accommodates even the largest jacks.
Bad :
- Kickstand feels flimsy
- Rubber on back peels and stains the back of the case (will wipe off though)
- Back is raised so it doesn't rest on the rubber grips. It'll spin in place.
- Headphone port area cracked a little (tiny) when trying to remove phone from case. In other words, not enough plastic.
Advice: Buy but only in white (Which I have). It scratches easily like Speck cases. You won't see scratches on the white but I guarantee you'll see them all over the black one within 5 minutes of putting it on.

I wonder how this will work or if it even will work with a glass screen protector?
First off its called the ivisor. I have had this same setup for over a month now. I got tired of the sp yes it looks good but go out in the sunlight and try to use your phone its impossible to see.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I've used AG iVisor for a few phones now and they have always been outstanding. I presently have one on a SGS 2, Nokia Lumia 900 and my SGS3.
So I seem to have issue with the SGS3s iVisor. While the iVisor fits well, when I put a case on, it pushes the sides of the iVisor up and away from the screen, simply pushing it off the face of the phone. I have tried 3 different cases (non of which are the same as mentioned in the OP), that being said, the case should not matter...
Has anyone else encountered a similar problem?
I attribute it to the (almost zero edge) construction of the phone. This problem has not occurred on either of the other devices mentioned.
Yes the case does make a diffence some just push up the ivisor I have this problem with many of cases on reason I don't recommended this product.

Does the stainless steel scratch easily?

i contemplating getting the huawei with steel link band(i dont like the look of the mesh band).
i was wondering how easily does the watch and steel link pick up scratches?
it would drive me crazy if it scratches easily.
Thanks
I have the black stainless steel both watch and band. Have been wearing the watch for almost couple months. I think it's holding up ok. Now that you asked, I took a close look at the band and I don't see anything that makes me go, WTH? So, in my book, that's a big pass
thanks for the reply
glad to hear it holds up.
now to decide between the black/black band or stainless w/ metal band.

It does. It stings for a minute. But what do you expect from stainless steel? The watch still shines obviously. But when you have a good eye site and pays attention to detail, why yes you can definitely tell. I'm not going to trip though if it gets really bad to the point it's not shiny then it's as simple as using something to take away the scratches and it'll go back to NEW. Unlike black, ones that scratches there goes the paint

So far with my aftermarket band and stainless steal body I still do not have even micro scratches. Not that I am hoping for them but I did hit the bezel against some materials hard than I would have liked and there is no evidence of scratching.
I got the stailess steel one and its all scratched on the upper side . I gave up feeling bad about that, just accepted the fact that it gets scratched, still shiny but I can see the scratches.

It's stainless steel.. If you take it to a jeweler they can polish it and get most of the scratches out. I have a stainless steel Rolex and get it serviced every few years. It always goes in scratched to hell and comes back to me looking brand new pretty much.
