I'm running InsertCoin A2SD+ 1.0.8 stable.
People just won't load from the "People" app, just "loading.." forever. when searching contacts with "Search People" app, the phone shows the list but when I'm clicking on a contact I get force close (The application People process com.android.htccontacts) has stopped...)
what's with that? it's a phone and all.... any fixes? like, reinstalling the people app? and if it's the fix, from where can I get the htccontacts.app (or the htccontacts.odex?)

I did a search of this forum, it retrieved nothing. Maybe I used the wrong key words.
I use LauncherPro and I can't edit any of my contacts or add new ones.
It says the appilication people (process com.android.htccontacts) has stopped unexpectedly and force closes every time.
Is there another program I can use for contacts? Or fix this?
Hi.
Gmail keeps updating and eating storage space without asking me first.
I don't want it, as I prefer the htc client...so how do I stop it happening, automatic updating is NOT ticked.
I'm concerned about how this happens, as it implies any application can update without my permission which would seem to be a privacy risk (although its the storage usage that concerns me most)?

Are you rooted? I have not seen gmail update but deleting it should stop it from updating.
Gmail is a push email system so when an email appears in your inbox it will be pushed to your phone. It's how Android works. Although, as you said, turning off Gmail sync should stop this...
Apologies, maybe I wasn't so clear. It's not that 'emails keep arriving' that I'm on about!
I mean the actual "Google Mail" application itself. I don't use it...I have tried it on occasion but I always come back to using the HTC Mail application because I prefer the UI and I don't need instant push email, I'm happier scheduling to recieve mail every few hours.
BUT...what I find is that every so often, the Google Mail application UPDATES itself with a new release from the Market. I don't want that to happen, and I have to "remove the updates".
Same happened with Flash for a while which kept insisting on installing a big update that I had no interest in recieving, although that seems to have disappeared from my Applications list now (and I can still use Flash fine).
I'm not rooted, the stock ROM is fine for me, I've toggled that setting that enables all apps to install directly to SD...but things like the updates to Google Mail seem to take up a load of on phone storage.
Ah right!!! Unless Google ignores things for system updates I can't comment. I have the opposite issue in that nothing updates automatically ever!!
In the market page, can you turn off "automatic updates"? I think for google mail it is on by default.
Hmm, am having this same problem. Gmail App keeps updating, dispite auto-updates (for gmail app) unchecked. Problem is I'm using email-notifier app, which only works w/ earlier version, hence I need the current gmail version to remain.
For what it's worth, this is a non-HTC phone / stock ROM. Found this thread via google search and am posting here (sorry to revive old thread) in case there is some other 'android wide' solution someone's come up with.

Hey guys, So I have this problem with the Request for permissions on my Wildfire. For apps that can use facebook login (eg, Talkbox, Vlingo), The little popup come up and ask to login, after the login the little "Request For Permission" thing come up, after pressing "Allow", the little window closes but I'm still not logged in, is there a fix for this?
I'm using CM7 7.1.0.1 and I don't use the Facebook app, I use friendcaster
Hoping someone can help me out, because I haven't seen something similar posted yet...
I just updated to Jelly Bean this morning. Everything about the install seemed ok, with no errors. However, when I went to open a message in Handcent, it didn't load and I got a "force close" prompt. I tried the same in the native Messaging app, and got a similar lock-up and "force close". After uninstalling Handcent, I still have a problem.
Now, when I open the native app for the first time after booting the phone, my list of messages will show, but when I go to open one, nothing will load and I am unable to send a message. If I push back to get to the screen with all my messages, I get a "Loading Conversations." screen, that doesn't seem to be doing anything (I've left it on for about 20 mins now with no change).
I've tried this in safe mode as well to no avail. Any ideas?
I'm having the same problem too, just with chompsms but having the exact same problem with the native app.

Heya all,
I have this issue with the stock samsung browser and email apps on my ace 2, running jelly bean, where it sometimes completely freezes up and then closes itself without giving any message about it (as in no message saying "com.android.secbrowser has stopped working" or anything like that.)
This happens incidentally only, but when it does happen for a webpage or e-mail, it will happen for that page or e-mail every time i retry.
I have tried many things and found that in both the email and browser apps this has to do with the downloading of images. Since turning that off in their settings removes the problem for both apps and then manually downloading images will cause the crash again.
Has anyone else got this problem? or does anyone have an idea on how to resolve it?
Perhas any apps/permissions/libs needed to make it work?
Need help on this one, as it's annoying, and I like both apps too much to give up on em and switch to market variants over it.
