Recovery
First, make sure you're not connected via usb..
Then, reboot, which means you'll need to pull the battery and replace
Hold the power button down and down volume down.....
Then, wait for the hboot or recovery screen..
Select recovery and push power button...
Now wipe partition cache, then dalvic cache....
At this point, you may be able to recovery to a previous backup or new rom...
Or..
Then try flashing the img file again.... it should be placed on the root of your sdcard...
It is possible you may need to re download the img file and then place it back on the sdcard...
Go to xhausx auto root and download the 3.70 ruu. Connect your phone to your computer and flash the stock rom. You will have to reroot, then go through all the steps again, but you should have your phone back. It is probably not bricked. Bricked means just that, bring will happen, it is now a brick.

im rooted for sure when i use my terminal emulator and type su i get this # meaning im root so i flash clockwork recovery in the rom manager menu and when i hit reboot into recovery it just wont do anything when i boot the phone to h boot it only shows a phone and a red logo when i select recovery so wtf what do i do? somebody help me out im not really a noob i can understand things and for some reason i feel like this might be an Id10T error on my part but im almost 100% sure i did everything right
When at the red triangle, hit volume up + power. That'll take you to the stock recovery. Select choose update.zip and that'll bring up clockwork. Make sure you have the clockwork update.zip on your sdcard and that it's labeled update.zip.

From what I have read elsewhere, re-flash Clockwork Recovery.
Doesn't work.

You're supposed to only download and flash recoveries from Rom Manager if you're on wi-fi since T-mobile caches web pages but I was able to get around this by flashing an older version (in Rom Manager) and immediately reflashing the correct recovery (without rebooting or even leaving RomManager).
Of course you can always download the recovery.img file and fastboot flash it.
me too
Same issue. Trying to boot into recovery gives pic of phone with red triangle.
- I reflashed clockwork recovery (not sure is this helped)
- manually went into recovery manager from rom manager menu which loaded w/o problems
- selected backup and restore
- perform backup
seems like it is working...
Volume-up + power. If you already did that then i dunno

fix permissions in rom manager and reflash clockwork
recovery mode
newbie here, or course. back after 2 years away with BBerry, g2 cant get past recovery. i am looking for a way to get my device to turn back on... basically when i try to fastboot, it say i have the wrong image, or no image, fails to load E: sd card failed. i have acces to another G2 so i can get a copy of the stock rom image but has not worked::: i need assistance in this process. what do i need to load from the sd card to make my G2 turn back on or is this what bricking your device is? i have access to the recovery screen and can still load info from the sd card.
thanks for any info.
Are you saying your rom doesn't boot? Are you s-off? And if so can you get into recovery?
FYI - people generally don't fastboot from the SD, are you sure you were in fastboot mode and not hboot?
I rooted my 2.02 Evo
Every time I try to flash I get this
E :Can't symlink /system/bin/cat
E :Failure at Line 11:
Symlink toolbox SYSTEM:bin/cat
Installation aborted
and I can't get into the rom I have on now. Every time I turn it on it goes to the HTC EVO white screen, restarts, HTC EVO white screen again and then goes into Clockwork.
Please help, I just got the phone 3 days ago
Try holding down the volume button down while holding the home button it should take you to a white screen. There use the volume key to scroll to recovery. Then click on nanadroid backup and click on your backup. If all else fails go to htc.com click on your evo then support and download the flash file. Flash your phone back to factory. You will also need to download HTC sync. Hope it helps.

So I followed this
FIX BROKEN RECOVERY
This is really only needed if you rooted with one of the previos guides version 6 or lower or if you installed a different recovery like I told you not to.
NOTE: YOU WILL NEED TO RELOAD YOUR ROM MOST LIKELY AFTER THIS SO YOU MAY WANT THAT HANDY AND COPIED TO THE ROOT OF YOUR SD CARD. RESTORING A NANDROID MAY NOT WORK
1) Download File above PC36IMG_Recovery.zip and Rename to PC36IMG.zip.
copy to the root of your SDCard and power off phone
2) Power your phone back on into the boot loader by holding power and vol-down until your presented with a white screen. It will read the pc36img.zip and as you if you want to flash. Say yes. Then it will ask if you want to reboot, VOL+UP for yes.
3) If your rom gets tossed in the process. Reboot your phone into bootloader select recovery, and reflash your rom....DONE
Click to collapse
and in the recovery, I was able to flash Warm2.2 and I rebooted, not it's stuck at the htc EVO 4g screen
I've tried searching and haven't been able to find a fix for this, but I'm S-Off, rooted, running CM7.1 RC1 and have Clockwork Recover 3.0.2.4 installed.
I can reboot into recovery and can access via fastboot, but when I try to boot directly into recovery, my phone vibrates 3 times, the amber light comes on but the phone doesn't boot at all and I have to do a battery pull in order to do anything else with the phone.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
(also, I used the method on the CM wiki to get S-off and root).
Thanks!
Have you tried reflashing recovery? Not sure how much it would help, but I'm sure it won't hurt

You cannot boot straight into recovery from power-off.
The best is to access via fastboot if you don't want to boot the phone up properly.
I assume you tried Vol Up + Power? That gets you into a qualcomm diagnostic mode, which is useless to us.

Man your not alone I got the same problem and been reading all through the threads. Just be careful if your using Sense don't turn off the fastboot like I did one day and couldn't reboot my phone got stuck. Almost an easy paperweight.

Hi guys, I know this question might sound stupid, but how do I enter the CMW recovery menu?
I tried the Home, Vol Up, and power button, but that gets me into Stock Recovery.
I tried, Home, Vol Down, and power, but that gets me to the upgrade menu.
I have flashed the CMW recovery, and only been able to get into right after the flash by holding down the Vol Up, Home, and power. The phone is rooted with the stock ROM.
Do I have to upload the CMW everytime i want to access it?
You are doing it right with volume up home and power but for some reason your flash is not staying. Try flashing twrp with goo.im and see if that stays.

Download Rom manager from play store an use it to flash recovery. Then do the vol+ menu + power or use the Rom manager to reboot to recovery.

Are you shure you are rooting right? Did you use odin to root, make shure that when rooting you dont let odin reboot your s3 after root remove battery put back, then press vol up vol down and power, after it vivrated let go, now u should be in cwr, now flash super su. If you let odin reboot ur s3, then you will not have root. And b back to stock recovery.

cwm not staying
If you have the stock ICS version, it erases and overwrites the CWM recovery every time you reboot.
Might be a good time to check Triangle Away at the same time. I believe each time you install the CWM Recovery it ticks the change counter too.
You will need to rename or delete these two files.
/system/recovery-from-boot.p
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
use root explorer to rename them
