Hello, noob here, so be gentle. I want to install gingerbread on my desire but not sure which one to go for. What's the best one Oxygen 2.0 RC7, cyanogenmod cm7, etc.
Also one thing I'm not sure, when I go to the page of roms for the desire and click on the Gingerbread roms I'm given a list of different rom so I though I think Oxygen 2.0 might be the best so I might try this one but then I go to another page and it's about the rom and the download link is there but I have two options and not sure if I need to download only the first one (Oxygen 2.0 - RC7) cause below I also have this link to download Oxygen v1.0.4 (Froyo stable).
So do I download the first only, or both or oxygen v.1.0.4 only ?
And do i need to bother with any other files like radio, gapps...
I'm running 2.2 vodafone
Thank a lot for any advice.
What you like best is up to you.
Oxygen comes with Gapps, on Cyanogenmod you have to flash them yourself. If you go for Oxygen just download RC7, not the old froyo one, and flash it. No real need to change the radio but if you want you can change to the recommended one.
oh, i get it now. Yeah, will try oxygen as i want gapps. Exciting... Thanks a lot
Try Cm7 Its really getting stable by the day.. and it does not stop at rc7
I've had GingerVillain for a couple of weeks and I'd recommend looking at this too. Video camera working (although not yet at 720p), everything else works fine (wifi, gps, bluetooth). Included are lots of the cyanogenmod tweaks as well.
Very stable and runs well with eViollets 'battery efficient' kernel for longer battery life.
Personally I'd do some more reading up first on these.
Anything AOSP based is going to have boot-loop issues, video cameras are hacks at best etc.
I'm still running oxygen (latest test build) but it doesn't come without it's warnings.
Next couple of weeks should see the N1 OTA update and some fairly significant progress in GB for desire.
Excuse my ignorance but what is asop based ?
I also read somewhere that froyo is the last update for the desire. No more...
AOSP = Android Open Source Project...that's what all of these custom ROMs (CM7, Oxygen, etc.) are built on.
FroYo may be the last official update but, as you can see, the AOSP devs have Gingerbread running on it so you will see support for the Desire as long as the hardware supports it.
I am using HTC Desire flash with MIUI ROM, but seem is slow & lag than other ROM I tried (LeeDroid, StarBurst or HD). Why? Any idea?
Same here. Very sluggish at certain point. -_-
Cause: Android System hogging with CPU. IDK Why. Tried solving but gave up with it and went back to Sense/CM ROMs.
But that's for me..
give us more details about the flashed ROM (Version, Kernel) ...
But i flashed the Lastest MIUI ROM and i must say : IT's the fastest desire ROM for me
(MIUI 1.2.11)
PS : if you have flashed the MIUI 1.2.18 or higher, you must enable the setting with "Battery Monitor" cause its a known bug for the lastest version...
Which MIUI you using? I've used both and MIUI-Au is the better one and is the fastest 2.2 rom out there. Not had any issues like that. Maybe just some bad code?
i get what theyre saying it happens to me i have MIUI Android 1.5.13 on my DEFY and everything is fine and fast except the web browser where anything i stream laggs and the zoom isn't smooth.

Hi!
I'm going to flash my green lens defy for the first time, but I've some newbie doubts.
I'm having some problems sending SMS, people receiving them get only a few words of it and battery drains quickly, that's why i'm flashing.
I don't use the defy for playing or multimedia, only phone stuff, camera and gps.
Wich ROM do you recommend me? I'm looking specially for battery life and stability.
Any tutorial on how to install it?
Thanks!
Plenty of rooms and tutorials I was on sea15 froyo that was pretty stable everything worked but recently I'm running cm7 rc0 which I find 10 times better than sea15
Search the forum for Nordic and cm7 rc0 heaps of Info that will help you decide

Hey!
I want to put CM rom on my gf's wildfire and i didn't find anywhere the difference between the regular and the nightly version... can someone explain it to me?
Nightlies are experimental versions, which may be better than the stable, but, it may sometimes also have bugs not present in the stable. The building of nightlies is a continuous process, with a new nightly released everyday.
Another difference is that you do not get "official" support on the CM Bug tracker for nightlies, but, this is available for RC / Stable versions.
For your gf's phone, I would probably recommend you go with the stable.
thank you for your help!
stable is better for father, i think
As the title says the HOX is finally getting an official Cyanogenmod release , maybe official CM10 is on its way
