Google Muic apk not signed? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, is anyone else experincing a similar issue of when you try to download and install the Google Music app from the market? Everytime I try to install it it'll tell me the package file was not signed correctly..

If you have the beta version of Google Music installed (the one that came out several months ago) you will have to uninstall that first. It is probably trying to do an update instead of a fresh install and they were probably signed with different keys.

In order to install a new version of Swype you need to remove the previous version. You may not be able to remove it by going to Settings>Applications>Manage>All Applications as the uninstall button may be greyed out. If you dont have it already get yourself root explorer from the Market (Assuming your phone is rooted) and you will need to remove the swype.apk from System>App and then go to http://www.swypeinc.com/ and sign up for the beta to download swype. I just had to do this the other day as I had the same issue you're having...
I have been using the version that came with our latest update.
I uninstalled it and trying to install the beta getting screen size not supported

Google music beta app will not install - Help

I've got an HTC Evo running CyanogenMod 7.0.3.1 and when I try to install the new Google Music Beta app from the market it comes back with "Install Unsuccessful" and then gives me "Package file not signed correctly". I've tried multiple times with no luck, any ideas as to how I might get around this. Thanks in advance!

Unsuccessful, but for "
I'm on a Nexus One and also cannot install, but error says: "Application cannot be installed in the default install location."
I've tried clearing app market cache and unmounting SD card, but no workie.
Any ideas?
Mine installed just fine. I'm running warm 2.2... Not sure what's going on. Any other apps not installing properly?
Other installs working fine
I tried two other apps and they both installed fine. I tried the following remedies, none of which worked. Not sure what to try next...
unmount/remount sd card
airplane mode on/off
soft reset
uninstall app market updates
I'm running stock 2.3.3 on unrooted N1.
i am still waiting on my invite but i hope i dont have any problems on the install
All other apps install fine for me, I just can't get the music beta app to install. I installed the Netflix app today from the market with no problem.

I had an issue installing Google music on cm7 , I narrowed it down to the honeycomb port music apk I had installed. I'd suggest using root explorer and deleting any other music player you have installed.
I was using honeycomb port as well...it installed just fine for me from the market as an update...I had installed honeycomb port as system app maybe that's why it worked with no problems...

Yeah, I installed mine just fine. Don't have an invite, but it will not open at all. Just keeps FC on me. I don't get it. It is a Google app running on a Google OS. However, I am running Virus Gingersense Sense 3.0 so maybe that is the issue.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I finally got it working. I ended up remounting the file system as writeable and deleting the com.android.music.apk file that was there already. It installed fine after i cleared that up.
thanks again!
I got to download with no problems on CM7 7.0.3.1 from the market.

Install Problem: Music Beta
I'm on an unrooted stock N1 running 2.3.4 and Music Beta won't install in the default install location. I have no idea what is going on.
If people are talking about the google 3.0 honeycomb player. I just ran it on virus AB froyo.
Just gotta make sure to rename or delete the com.googlemusic.apk that already exists in system/app (if one already does)
Edit: sorry, i missed that someone already got it fixed.

Removing android market (gapps)?

Hey all,
I'm running cm7 stable and have noticed recent that a new market version has come. So I tried updating though settings>applications but the option to update wasn't even there. So I found a new version online (3.0.27) and downloaded it. It was an apk file so I just ran it from astro, but it didn't work.. just kept on saying "application not installed". Next I tried to remove market but it would not let me either.
I deleted com.android.vending and anything else that came up with either "market" or "vending" in it but I still can't get the new version to install.
Any advice? Is there a list of files somewhere that pertain to the market that should be removed?

I tried to replace market on my Moment when a new version had come out and the only way I could do it was by pushing via adb
Yeah that's one thing I've yet to try. hopefully I can do this when I get home

I just downloaded a version I found on the forums, and clicked on it once it downloaded and it prompted to install then installed normally.
But I'm on MIUI, which I'm sure made a difference. I think I have the apk that I used in my dropbox if you want to try it.
I do remember that back on CM6 when a new market was released it was almost impossible to get it the update. I tried multiple ways and couldn't get it to work (others couldn't either) and just gave up.
Have you tried replacing the old one with the new one via Root Explorer?

Wildfire S Android 2.3.5 Market Update received

Just received the new market version 3.3.11 on my German A510e
Can anyone confirm?
Still not latest 3.3.12
look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1328867
After I last redid my phone with stock 2.3.5 I did what google suggested and sat on the market homepage for 10 minutes after going to my apps and back again and it didn't update to it. Tried a few times just to see if it would.
Ended up installing 3.12 myself and integrating into ROM with Titanium backup pro.
A lot easier than moving and renaming and setting permissions, etc.
worked for me. I didn't stay inside the app though.
Well, I did not install it manually, and I didn't spend much time in market neither.
It just was updated the other second so I thought a new market for the phone was just released.
I have had this for about 2 weeks now :L

[Q] Google play on Chinese android

ok, so I got a new HTC Desire HD from my fathers company when we moved to China not so long ago. But the phone had a pre-installed chinese version of Android 2.2.1, which don't even have a app market.
Is there a way to get get google play on it? It's a bit annoying to always search around to find a .apk file of the app you want, download it to the computer, send it do the phone and hence install it.
This would help a lot.
Thank you in advance.
You could always just download the play store .apk
There are 2 at the bottom of the page, either a modified one or the original .apk

Nothing, you need to make your device not look like it is in China or a China version as the google market is blocked in China and on China based devices
Change location of phone

Apparently you need to install the modified version in the link i posted, and when prompted to overwrite select yes
Download the modded .APK file
Connect your device to your computer.
Place the .APK on your device, but don’t use adb install; it won’t work since the Google Play Store is already installed
Open the .APK with a file explorer of your choosing, and install. When prompted as to whether you wish to replace the current Google Play Store app, you select “Yes”.
After a short installation process, that’s all. Your are now able to access unrestricted Play Store app.
Still not working ...

Ok, so I have now successfully rooted my phone, and installed the modded version of Google Play, but still, when I'm trying to launch the application it says; "The application Google Play Store (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.)
Could this be because of a too old Android version (running 2.2.1)? Should I install a custom ROM?
If you are rooted, that seems like the next logical step. There are several 'stock' or 'near-stock' ROMs, as well as many 'modded' to choose from, based on gingerbread (2.3.4, 2.3.5, 2.3.6, 2.3.7). Most ICS are still incomplete although pretty functional.. Work in progress is the phrase they use. Must warn that once you start ROM swapping, it gets quite addictive
Desire HD : CM7.2.0 RC1 : Tapatalk 2.1.0
it worked!
