Hi, I have a S-Off'd Wildfire (done with XTC-Clip) in version 2.2.1 and I asked a user from this forum how could I root. He answered me with this message:
Code:
hi poinu glad you managed S-off now you can put on any rom you want.
first you must get a custom recovery on your machine I use ClockworkMod 3.0.0.6
this should be fine to flash cyanogenmod7.
here is the file to it (http ://www . mediafire . com /?i09yp4r7odhlzws)
put this PC49IMG.zip on the root of your sd card. (not in a folder)
put the cyanogenmod update zip also on your sd card.
Reboot your phone into Hboot Mode by pressing Volume Down and Power.
It will now ask if you want to update the firmware select Volume Up for Yes.
wenn its done remove thePC49IMG.zip from your sd card.
Reboot your phone into Hboot Mode again.
it will look for the PC49IMG.zip again let that finish and ignore.
Then go with volume down to recovery and push power button, clockwordmod will start.
Do a wipe cache partition, wipe data/factory reset and under advanced wipe Dalvik cache.
go to install zip from sdcard / choose zip from sd card and choose your cyanogen mod update zip and install.
reboot wen finished don't worry if it takes some time first reboot always is slower.
hope i helped you enjoy your mod.
kind regards ab65
I've downloaded the PC49IMG.zip file and copied at the root next to the cm7.zip file (picture: http : //i55 . tinypic . com/ egai5s. png) but when I enter the HBOOT and looks for the PC49IMG.zip file, it finds nothing (and yes, the file is PC49IMG.zip not PC49IMG.zip.zip, I've already checked this )
I don`t know what I have done wrong (I have done nearly anything!) any ideas?
Thank you very much for having a look on the threat
here is what i suggest simply,
***** Ur memory card must be formatted with fat32 partition before doing this.......
go to this link and download the attached file at the bottom PC49IMG.ZIP
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12188132&postcount=15
Since security flag is turned of (by xtc clip) , the recovery partition is no longer protected. U can install custom recovery without any exploits. That downloaded PC49IMG.ZIP file is nothing but "ClockworkMod Custom Recovery". Put it in the root of the memory card (fat32). Then go to hboot menu. It definately finds the file and prompts u to install. Go with it. At the end u will have custom recovery.
then u can install custom roms. Custom roms will be packed in zip files and can be installed from recovery menu. Its not needed to put the custom rom zip file only in the root of memory card. And the most important thing is, remember to clear data/factory reset and clear cache (both done frm recovery menu) before installing a custom rom. Thats all
Oh god, i didn`t know that.... succesfully done
but now... there's another problem, I installed the CyanogenMod7 and there are some things that I pretty dislike and I would like to install another ROM I have (it's a 2.2.1 rooted ROM) and I tried to do what I did to install the CM7 but when I installed it from the recovery this error message appeared:
"Installing update...
Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.
Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5. It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery.
Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.
Installation aborted."
Is it really possible to root this ROM or do I have to stay in the CM7? :S
Any suggestion? Thank you very much for the support

CLockworkmod 3 is a must for the gingerbread CM7 roms.
And clockworkmod3 recovery will not support "amend - scripting"
What u need to do is, to install the CM7 custom rom. Then install "Rom Manager" from market. Then use a different version of clockworkmod (downgrade to 2.5 version or try different versions). Then reboot to recovery from Rom manager itself. Then try to install the 2.2.1 rooted rom. It should work. If u have any issues with installing custom roms, then try different version of clockworkmod recovery (from Rom Manager). That's all.
explanation: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897026
it surely worked, thank you very much
I done the Alpharev s-off method but now when I try to install CM7 from CWM 3.0.0.6 it get stuck on "Installing update"

hey there.. you should have got an nandroid backup before you had your firmware updated.. but no worry.. we will work that out.. the sim problem maybe because your radio or RIL is not new and so on... so you should first update your radio and ril.. but before that get yourself a custom recovery... i recommend the latest ClockworkMod which is 5... google 'flash custom recovery on htc desire' then download the ClockWorkmod 5 from xda (desire version) and flash it.. after you had it finished check it by booting into recovery either by passing out the 'adb reboot recovery' command in adb shell or holding down vol-down + power while powering on and selecting recovery from the bootloader menu (the menu you will see after you hold the buttons).. you should see the blue recovery saying clockworkmod 5.. if so then download the compatible Radio and RIL for you phone from xda then flash them using recovery..( copy the zip files into your sd card ( you can mount your sd to usb using clockworkmod recovery option in Storage/Mount - > mount usb storage -maybe different) then first flash the RIL .zip using install .zip from sdcard option then reboot again to recovery and install the Radio .zip using the same option) then copy the leedroid .zip to sd using the instructions above and flash it again using install .zip from sdcard option.. then test .. if succeed you are lucky.. if not flash an OTA update (the official HTC firmware) you can find it in the net... i will be happy to help you better. if your problem not solved pm me!
Apparently Rom manager has caused all kinds of problems on the desire. On the android forums http//androidforums.com/htc-desire/ they advise you not to use it. Hanging at the htc screen is a common problem. There is however some advice on recovery.

Hi all, Yesterday I flashed oxygen and all is fine. Restored apps, sms, contacts etc, happy with it but thought I'd install the dalvik cache script so I'd have a bit more memory. I downloaded file dalvik-cache2sd and put it on sdcard.
Went to clockworkmod, choose zip from sdcard, install zip from sdcard then it starts then I get this:

try to flash it with rmd recovery :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1137763
Since version 3 clockworkmod uses a newer updater script. Some scripts are not updated to this version, so you have to flash an older recovery like RMD or 4EXT via fastboot.
Thanks for advice. I wasn't going to play around changing recoveries because I guess it's not that importart to install the script BUT I went to update my radio and the same message came up. WTF...if I change to this recovery (how can I do it) will I have to change anything else, I guess it means I won't have cwm recovery but amon-ra recovery, am I right. Please guys clarify this for me as getting a little confused... Thanks
Are you S-OFF or S-ON?
SwiftKeyed from dGB with Transparent XDA App
Have a read of the oxygen forum. It has the script you will need and if you can't find it there the redux script works as that is what I use.
Check out oxygen.im

I'm s-off (revolutionary method)and I found the oxygen dalvik2sdscript no problem, it's in the root of my sd card along with the latest radio...that I can't install. Would it work if I renamed the radio file to update or something similar ? I wonder....
Flash the dalvik zip file the same way as you do a rom in recovery
As for the radio file you need to use fastboot. But if you have changed your h-boot make sure it has enough space to flash the radio or you could end up with a permanent brick. I believe you need a min of 25mb but check this before you flash the radio.
Hope this helps
To flash anything like alternative recovery, radio, or hboot it is best to use fastboot (back button and power)
sent from my Oxygen desire
There is absolutely no need to change radio here. Just changing the recovery to 4EXT or RMD (currently the most recommend recoveries) will do the trick. This operation can be done either with fastboot or with Android Flasher.
For fastboot check my guide. For Android Flasher read the opening post.
Hi Guys,
I am trying to Flash CM 10.1.2
http://get.cm/?device=d2att&type=stable
I followed the usual steps
1. Installing the latest CWM recovery (recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.6-d2att)
2. USB Debugging is ON
3. Boot into Recovery
4. Restore Factory Settings
5. Wipe cache partition
6. Wipe Dalvik Cache
7. Flash CM 10.1.2.zip
8. I get Error 7 and installation is not completed.
Upon looking online I found out that I have to edit 'updater-script' and remove asserts
The file looks like this and I deleted the asserts, Line 1 only
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "d2att" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "d2att");
assert(getprop("ro.bootloader") == "I747UCDLK3" ||
getprop("ro.bootloader") == "I747MVLDLK4" ||
getprop("ro.bootloader") == "I747MUMBLK3" ||
getprop("ro.bootloader") == "I747MUMBLL1");
mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p14", "/system");
package_extract_file("system/bin/backuptool.sh", "/tmp/backuptool.sh");
package_extract_file("system/bin/backuptool.functions", "/tmp/backuptool.functions");
set_perm(0, 0, 0777, "/tmp/backuptool.sh");
set_perm(0, 0, 0644, "/tmp/backuptool.functions");
run_program("/tmp/backuptool.sh", "backup");
unmount("/system");
show_progress(0.500000, 0);
format("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p14", "0", "/system");
mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p14", "/system");
package_extract_dir("system", "/system");
symlink("/system/xbin/su", "/system/bin/su");
symlink("Roboto-Bold.ttf", "/system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf");
symlink("Roboto-Regular.ttf", "/system/fonts/DroidSans.ttf");
symlink("busybox", "/system/xbin/[", "/system/xbin/[[",
"/system/xbin/adjtimex", "/system/xbin/arp", "/system/xbin/ash",
"/system/xbin/awk", "/system/xbin/base64", "/system/xbin/basename",
Then same steps and I get error Installation Aborted.
Then I remove all the asserts in the file i.e. Line 2 - Line 5
Then same steps and I get error Installation Aborted.
Not sure what am I missing
Right now I am on 4.1.2
Somewhere online I read that I have to update my modem manually but it is already updated.
PFA the screen shot of my About Device
After the installation is aborted, I am able to boot into stock Android i.e. 4.1.2
Let me know what am I missing ?

As you can see, from your error that you posted, CM 10.2 only accepts up to DLK3 for I747. If you have updated your phone to MG2 for the bootloader (which I'm assuming you did since your having issues, as well as your baseband has been updated), then CM 10.2 will fail. You would need to downgrade to DLK3 for the I747.
To do so, simply download the recovery-flashable DLK3 zip in the OP of this bootloader thread. Don't forget: FOR RECOVERY TO RECOGNIZE A NEWLY FLASHED BOOTLOADER, A REBOOT IS NECESSARY BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH FLASHING ROMS REQUIRING CERTAIN BOOTLOADERS.

Yes i did the same, downloaded the bootlaoder, flashed using ODIN, restart, then again boot into recovery, wiping everything
again got the same error while flashing
Can you give us a detailed line for line output concerning the Installation Aborted message?

If you flashed using ODIN, you didn't use the right package. You're supposed to use the recovery-flashable .ZIP package for DLK3. (Unless you want to switch your modem at the same time. No reason to do that though.)
Also, never remove asserts from a flasher script unless you intend on forcing things to flash when they shouldn't. There's usually a good reason for ROMs and other flashable tools to require a specific bootloader, device, or modem.

Baseband version has nothing to do with the bootloader. Those are 2 separate parts of your device. The steps you need to follow are:
Flash this ZIP in recovery
Reboot back to recovery
Install the ROM
Don't modify the ROM in any way.
If you keep having issues, you might want to switch to TWRP; I stopped using CWM a long time ago because of poor logging and the unfriendly UI.

I usually give up waiting after about 15 minutes goes by. Sometimes things don't flash correctly I guess, I've never understood it.
You did wipe /data and also flash GApps, right? Most ROMs should still boot without GApps, but they're next to useless without the apps. If you didn't wipe /data, you might not be able to boot on a new ROM.

You need to read the chart to see which one to download depending on your Android version.
Do not just flash the right ones over top of the wrong ones. Wipe /system and /data, flash the ROM again, then flash (the correct) GApps. This can all be done in one trip through your recovery, you don't need to reboot between steps.
At op, these people are helping u out tremendously, especially with posting links and everything for u when they could just as easily not answer, or make u search yourself... The very least u could do is hit the "thanks" button to show your appreciation!! That is all...

You may not be showing hidden folders (in Android, they start with a period '.') or Android data, like downloads from games, other apps, etc.
In ES File Explorer, you can go to the settings and I believe under display, there is a way to show hidden folders. Also, a great app that will show the breakdown of all storage is called DiskUsage. It will give a graphical breakdown of either your internal phone storage or external SD card.

1- Can you please give me the download link for that? Because I got a file and it gives error 130.
2- I downloaded two files from alpharev.nl. one of them is img and the other one is zip.
I browse for these two files in Fastboot Commander program. One of them in Hboot/spl and the other one in Recovery and then flashed both. Then I browse for zip file in Full Zip tab and and flashed that one,too.
I was not folllowing a guide. I just tried them, because the monitor was black, I thought maybe these files get it fixed.
I think I flashed "Bravo CM7 r2" files(both of .img file in the zip file). But I'm not sure which files are for my cellphone.
I executed this file "PB9940000_BravoC_hboot_1.09.0000_USC_UTSI" which is for my cellphone, and I'm sure about it, because in flashboot screen I see BravoC and my cellphone is US Cellular. Now the monitor is on, but whenever I turn off and on the cellphone, it is in fastboot screen. When I want to go to the Recovery menu, it restarts.
I think I should copy a PB99IMG.zip file in sd card, but I don't know where I can find the file.
What can I do?
Please help me.

If you don't know what you're doing, find a guide first. If it doesn't make sense -> ask before you try anything.
If you definitely have a CDMA Desire (BravoC without SIM card slot) then read this first...
- You are lucky you didn't actually flash any of the hboots from alpharev. They are for GSM Desires, not CDMA. You would have bricked it if you successfully flashed it.
- Next try understand what you're doing. Even if you could flash the hboot, it won't upgrade your desire to 2.3.7. These only repartition your internal memory.
- It looks like you are already s-off as your hboot version is 6.93.9999. Can you confirm this? Power off and boot to bootloader (Volume down + power), post everything it says at the top of the screen.
What I believe is that your recovery is somehow corrupted. You simply need to reflash recovery, full wipe and flash a ROM which is compatible with CDMA desire (you could hopefully find one with Android 2.3.7 or higher).
- Download the recovery.zip from here, halfway through 1st post: (Desire CDMA) link.
- Extract the .zip, and find the recovery.img file.
- Use a guide, flash the recovery.img through fastboot commands
- You should now be able to boot into 4EXT recovery.
- A custom rom is likley to require an sd-card partition, so backup sd card and partition with 4EXT recovery
- Find a ROM which is compatible with CDMA Desire, copy ROM.zip to sdcard.
- Nandroid backup (backup existing ROM in case you need to recover things from it later)
- "Wipe all partitions except sdcard" within 4EXT Recovery
- Flash ROM.zip
My knowledge is mainly to do with GSM Desire, never worked with CDMA. Main thing you need to realise is that a lot of the development work is focussed on GSM version. Anything you flash / install must be compatible with your CDMA desire.

Actually, after 3 days working on it, I could fix it. I had deleted the recovery, and everything. I intalled the reovery and then Rom, and now it's running normally.
Can you please tell me what custom Rom is the best? Can I install Android 4.x ?
Thank you :good:

No one can tell you what rom is the best. Pick a rom, or try a few out, then decide which one suits your needs the best.
Yes you can install android 4+. There are roms in the development section ranging from 4.0-4.4.
I've installed the cyanogenmod 7.2 (Andoird 2.3.7) and it's working ok.
Now I have another problem:
1- ADB works, Fastboot doesn't work. I installed intel USB3 driver for win8 64bit, but didn't work. I also installed 3 versions of HTC Android phone.
2- The hboot version is 1.09. how can I downgrade it to 1.06 or lower? The phone is S-On and because it's 1.09 I can't use Revolutionary.
Thanks
