I saw this on the EVO 4G thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128135
and I was wondering if it's really a big issue on the DHD. Android OS is consuming 2-5% on my device.
I haven't had any problems with the DHD battery life so far, and it's been about 5 or 6 months I've had it now. Also, it is in the Evo 4G section, and nobody in DHD has mentioned it, so I'm guessing we haven't got a problem. (oh yeah DHD peeps! )

Ok so im not new to rooting as I have owned a Hero and an Evo 4g for some time. But now I am running an epic 4g and I am having terrible battery life throughout daily use.
I am running the leak of the stock build EF02 and the light tweaks that were in the forums such as ram booster. After checking my phones up time it says it is 14 hours. Which means that it has not slept and clocked down sine last night when I put it on a charger. This is obviously a kernel and/or radio issue. But the problems is I need to know what radio to flash to fix this. There was a very similar issue with the Evo when it ran an incomplete gingerbread kernel: Flashing a new radio fixed it.
Can anyone give me some info and input on this subject because I think if Im getting this problem then there are a lot of others who have it as well.
Thanks
I am going to be upgrading tomorrow to a GNex and I am coming from an Incredible. I have owned the Inc. since release, and have seen it come a really long way in development.
I am wondering what to expect from the battery compared the the Inc, also what is the recommended kernel people are using for battery life with the Gnex?
Any other overall comments about the Gnex (especially those coming from an Inc)
FWIW I was running CM7.1 with chads incredikernel.
Thanks

I too came from the Incredible to the GN. I was always thrilled with the abundance of new and different roms and kernels for the Dinc. I have not yet rooted my GN but also I haven't felt the strong need to just yet. As for battery life it is hard to say it is better or worse because a lot of it depends on the user. I personally am satisfied with it knowing it is an LTE device which will burn it up faster and it's screen is larger so there's more battery drainage, and then there is the "shinny new toy effect". When I got the GN I had no illusions of the battery being OMG amazing but I have been happily surprised. Just use a brightness control, short screen timeout and you'll be fine. I must admit that I did not get the GN for what it is but rather what it can and will be from the amazing devs out there because I figure it will be just like the Dinc as in it can only get better from here.

I also came from a Dinc and had it since the day before its launch. I ran every rom and kernal out there and was getting about 20 hrs under normal usage.
The gnex out the box has been giving me 12 hours of normal use. But the fun is beginning. With a few tweaks i am getting about 20 hours. Granted i am not in a 4g area yet so i have that turned off but i think that battery life is exceptable given the monster screen its pushing...
Kernals are starting to pop up and if your from the Dinc community you should know HeyItsLou and I am running one of his Gnex kernals now.
Smooth as silk baby
I am not sure about the original Incredible, but I had an Incredible 2 for a few months. The battery life was noticeably better but, what you have to realize is that due to the screen size and LTE radio, the battery is going to drain much faster. For that matter, any 4G phone is going to destroy the battery while LTE is on. As others have said, try to use wifi as much as possible and switch to CDMA mode when not using heavy data. Oh, and even though the battery status may show that the screen is using it all the juice, the radio is actually playing a big roll in that.
got it yesterday and there are a couple of issues like the battery drain and the slow rendering on browser but i'm sure this is going to get the sort of support the htc desire did, early days yet peeps
I have faith in it, I love it already.
I had the HTC desire the last 2 years since it came out, and this has better battery life than the desire ever did out the box.
I think we should get good suport this year from HTC with some updates, or plenty of custom roms

too true, think htc have got something in the pipeline already for some of the bugs in the first post
I feel the same its such a beautiful phone..
I was a bit concerned after reading all the bugs etc but believe the OTA update will fix many of those..
Testing the English repack of the Chinese OTA at the moment... so will see how that goes ^_^
I have faith, too... Gonna get it next week. But I think that we should write more letters to HTC and report them all bugs and problems. In my opinion, it is the only way to get them fixed. So hurry up and go to htc.com and write them a letter or a bad review.
Time...
Dear All,
I played with the HOX a couple days ago at work as my colleague just purchased one earlier this week. The screen is great and held in hand experience is really good. The phone definitely doesn't feel this big. There are bugs that will be ironed out in the next few months. I'm waiting till May to see if HTC will update the firmware. The waiting is hard but I still have my stable Desire to keep me company.
Does this phone have bugs? Mine runs like a dream, Coming from LG optimus 2x this phone us a work of art, 1billion times better than the optimus 2x, would never buy another lg, as much as I'd hate to say it is rather have an iphone than another lg
100% faith in HTC
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
just use chrome FFS
the battery issue is a lot better with 1.28 OTA (which most people haven't got yet) or just root and go one of the popular custom ROMs with this fix already applied
This is truly the best device out at the moment.
It is was better than my Samsung Galaxy SG2 and I really loved that device.
Previously I had HTC HD2, which was a great device.
HTC is always excellent for the most part.
Any issue will be addressed in a very short while, believe me, this is the best forum for help and fixes.
As it is still very new, be patient, it will all have within the next few months. Or earlier !
I am running stock ROM and I am super happy with the speed and performance.
Regarding battery usage etc.... it takes a while to tweek it with one's own battery management. ie Use low screen brightness setting, not auto. Don't have everything on auto sync......choosing syncing every 3hrs, 6hrs or 12hrs, 24hrs, unless super important. Keep those wakelocks to a minimum operation. If you don't need an application that is constantly running, change the settings. These are all common sense things to do, but some people forget or don't realise they can change them.
But, rooting is where it is often the best solution, as other kernels will be developed which will always give one the best performance due to customisation of the kernel etc..
But if one is on a stock ROM, like me, battery maintenance is the way to go.
Hello to all HTC One X user!
I have recently got myself a HOX as well, and this is my first android phone coming from Iphone and WM.
I am currently searching through the forum for a stable Sense-less ROM. I notice a couple which are pretty close to perfect, but as I need this phone for my daily task, I want to have a ROM with minimum critical issue.
i have come accross Paranoid Android ICS RC3 and CyanogenMod 9 - Endeavor Unleashed | 021 | R2, which seems to be pretty close to what I need.
May i please ask if any of you are currently running a sense-less rom which does not have any critical issue?
If you guys are interested, here is a little bit of background on why I am in persuit of a senseless ROM.
When I first got the HOX, i notice the push email did not work well. I rely on push email alot, and coming from an iphone, emails get pushed to my iphone within seconds of receiving consisntantly without fail.
However on the HOX it comes it randomly. The time it takes the email to get pushed to my HOX ranges from 5seconds to 1hour++. This is rather unacceptable.
I am not sure if anyone here has the same issue, but after hours of research, and also flashing to other reknown custom roms like Revolution (which is fantastic BTW), the issue still persist.
I believe that this could be due to the Sense framework that is causing this issue ( I might be wrong). But I am keen on trying anything because at the moment my HOX is lying at home as I cant leave my iphone before this is fixed.
I have to say, this phone is amazing. I actually sold my brand new Galaxy S3 for this because the S3 screen (doesnt matter how amazing they say it is) its crap. The colour seems odd on the S3 which is likely because of the Amoled + pentile function.
Hope i can find a solution here.
Thanks!
Hello all,
New poster here - HTC DHD user since early 2011, but new to custom ROMs this year. (Late to the party, I know!) I've learnt a lot in my short time lurking the forum, but I came across a puzzler today.
I've recently flashed my DHD with JellyTime 4.2.2 R11, which I'm delighted with, but for one small thing. The battery life is pretty poor in comparison to HTC's stock 2.3.5 and the Blackout ICS ROM I experimented with for a month or so (98% used in just under 10 hours of light/moderate use). I noticed that process 'Android system' has used 60%+ of my battery today, so installed Battery Monitor in an attempt to establish what was using so much power.
As the attached screenshot shows, 'Wi-Fi Scans' seems to be the culprit, although I don't know what to do next. I've read that this is an issue with 4.3, and you can turn off an advanced Wi-Fi option to solve it, but being on 4.2.2, I don't have that option.
Any advice that anyone can provide would be greatly received!
Best,
Stuart
