i love the modaco custom rom but would like to add the lockscreen from drizzys custom rom. (or any plain android looking lockscreen)
is there a way to extract the files i need and simply replacing them in the MRC? i guess its just an html file or something like that to replace, right?
I guess this is the HTCLockScreen.apk and .odex but since it's a system app, it cannot be installed or unistalled, and overwirting the apk in the system/app folder doesn't do anything.
If someone knows how to do it I will be very interested too.
im not sure if it will work but you can download my rom go to
system/framework
grab com.htc.resource.apk
now adb push com.htc.framework.apk /system/framework/
then reboot!
steps:
adb remount
adb push com.htc.framework.apk /system/framework/
adb shell
reboot
then if your phone loops then it didnt work, but if you go straight to you home screen then it should be fine!
good luck

its not in the lockscreen!
its in the framework!
Or you could do what I did, pull com.htc.resources.apk from the phone, extract it with 7zip edit the .png files in res/drawable-land-480x320/ and res/drawable-port-480x320/ then zipped it and built the apk using apkbuilder.
Then push it to the phone, as usual make backups.

Thank you very much.
It works perfectly.
BR. Simemu
Thx it worked perfectly
I just pushed com.htc.resources.apk into the /system/framework folder.
Now is it also possible to change the notification bar with a similar method ?
I love the one from your Rom Drizzy Drake Rogers.
They are in framework-res.apk
A few jpg and png named status* in res/drawable-480x320/
Same method should apply.
As usual, would be smart to back up.
Edit: When I get some time off I may have a day messing with these files see about some different coloured UI's etc.
for me this does not work
what ive done is:
1. get the com.htc.resources.apk
2. extract it with rar
3. changed the mentioned png files
4. then i put them back into the archive (apk file, renamed as a zip file)
5. renamed the zip back to its original name
6. put the file as mentioned to the correct folder
there is no change.. is it a MUST to use apk builder, if yes, how to use that bat?

Yeah use apk builder. Should work.
Edit: you sure its named right and in the right place?? It should have overwritten your old one.
and how to use apk builder??
okay, i signed the new apk with this http://www.anddev.org/signing_your_apk-application_for_release_keytooljarsigner-t3069.html
but that didnt work (the sign process worked, but then the hero looped)..
can anyone please tell how to sign the apk with apkbuilder??
Did you sign the .apk or the .png ????
Sorry...but i didn´t got a solution...i´m standing in front of the same problem like you
easier method here

no need to bother with apk builder with this method.

I want to change my lockscreen, it all seems to make sense apart from editing the .png files..
What am I supposed to be changing in the files? Maybe I missed something, but that doesn't seem to have been explained

tha background image of your lockscreen can be changed easily in the phone settings, but if you wanna change the other parts of the lockscreen, then you need to do it like told here ;-)

common guys, just a feedback!
Can anyone help me with finding the boot animation (see image) Its just the plain ANDROID word in a blueish colour that becomes slightly reflective. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
I saw it on OpenDesire ROM. You can ask AdamG or extract from his ROM.
is the default animation of android. delete /data/local/bootanimation.zip and /system/media/bootanimation.zip and you have. is contained in /system/framework/framework-res.apk
Thank you

Do you know how to extract the animation from the .apk file?
Many Thanks for your responses
all you have to do is delete all other bootanimations... that one is the default so it cannot be deleted... once you delete the others it will go back to the default one by itsself.
Thanks

I understand, but I am unable to delete the files from /data/local/bootanimation.zip and /system/media/bootanimation.zip There are not write permissions. What is the easiest way to delete these files.
Many Thanks
I could delete bootanimation.zip in /system/media with root explorer and mounting in write mode. BUT the bootanimation.zip just comes back after reboot. So no stock android bootanimation to see. Running on DeFroST5.8 wich is using the NexusOne animation. How can I extract the bootanimation from OpenDesire which is the stock android one? Any hints??
Thanks
EDIT: ok, could delete/rename using adb shell when in recovery AND also delete/rename the exiting bootanimation.zip on /sdcard. Details how to do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696235&highlight=boot+animation&page=9 POST #89
NOW I have the stock android bootanimation.
Still, I would like to have it as a zip file I could apply after flashing a new ROM. Ok, I know, I'm lazy
Use adb or s-off to delete files in /system/

You do understand, that you need root to do this right?
And the reason is, that the system partition is nand locked, so untill you make your phone s-off, you cannot edit it wile system is booted. So alternately you can boot into your custom recovery like clockwork mod and use adb commands to remover it.
hi everyone im new to the forum and wanted to say my god i love this forum ,all you guys help each other and im glad to be part of this forum .=) i have the htc evo 4g and its rooted .i just flashed miui rom and love it ,however,i wanted to know how i can load the call of duty bootanimation to this rom if possible .and i have 3 roms backed up that are all 3 the same how can i delete 2 of them thanks
1. Download the animation, re-name it to bootanimation
2. Place it on the root of your sd card, using a root file explorer [es file explorer, root explorer, ect] move it to /system/media and overwrite the existing one
3. Use a file manager to explore your sd card. You'll see a folder called clockwork if on cwm recovery, or nandroid if on amon ra. Open then folder and you'll see all your backups. Simply delete the ones you don't want
i have the miui rom .i have done this before and still wont work .can i delete everything i see with bootanimation? and just download a link with bootanimation and put it on my sd card ? and i figured out how to delete the back ups i did not want anymore thanks a bunch .i am using nandroid back up

Check for the /data/local folder for the bootanimation.zip [ I haven't used MIUI, but its either in /system/media or /data/local]
i went to date /local/using root explorer and get 3 folders one folder says parent folder second folder says download third folder says tmp now i go to systems and i see a folder called bootanimation.zip is that the folder im doing it as i type to you
You're in /system/media? What is the path exactly?
root eplorere its mounted as r/o i go to system and i see bootanimation .zip and i scroll down to media and if i open media i see audio bootanimation than bootanimation.zip than cod-bootanimation-aosp which is the bootanimation i want on my evo than gadget than lockscreen and so on

You need to delete the original bootanimation.zip, then rename cod-bootanimation-aosp to bootanimation [should still be .zip], reboot, and you should be good.
the cod bootanimation-aosp does not say zip next to it .does that mean its not zipped ? how do i know the bootanimation.zip is the original one ?
looking at the bootanimation folders i have about 3 folders with the name bootanimation if i long press the folder it saids i can zip the folder

Also make sure you're mounted as r/w. Long press it and hit rename, it should still be .zip, just doesn't show on the preview. Then do what I said previously.
i just switched it to r/w and i can only find the bootanimation file under s/d card and when i open the folder this is what it shows five files 1 file is parent folder 2 folder DS-STORE THIRD FILE ANDROID FOURTH FILE BOOTANIMATION.ZIP FIFTH FILE DESC.TXT WHEN I CLICK ON FOURTH FILE WHICH IS BOOTANIMATION.ZIP I GET THIS PARENT FOLDER TWO DS-STORE FOLDERS THAT HAVE A LITTLE YELLOW STAR ON THEM .NEXT FOLDER META-NF AND SYSTEM HOW CAN I START THE PROCESS FROM SCRATCH
I was following some guy called zeromax on youtube .i did what he said to do and still not worked
Well you saw all those folders because you opened the bootanimation.zip zip, which you don't need to.
1. from the sd card, copy the renamed cod bootanimation, that has been renamed to bootanimation.zip
2. go to /system/media, delete the bootanimation.zip in there
3. paste your bootanimation.zip in its place, done.

My post 2 above is the 'restart' from the beginning.
On MIUI you apply boot animations through the Theme Manager. You can either pm me a link to the animation and I'll make you a mtz to apply through theme manager, or you can follow the normal directions. If you do it the same way you would do it on any other rom, you have to go into theme manager afterwards and reapply the default animation. You would do so by going to customize at the bottom of the main screen, then choose boot animation and select the default one. You may need to choose another before you're given the option to apply the default. If you don't have one then youcan download one from the theme manager.
MIUI is different from other roms in many ways, but theming is much easier as well. If you ever need help getting certain things working on MIUI, feel free to pm me. I've been running it for over six months and know it better than I know stock Android or Sense.
Edit: You can also place the boot animation in /data/system/theme/boots, name it bootanimation.zip, set permissions to rw-r--r--, and reboot. Applying through theme manager is easiest if you're not familiar with modifying system files. As I already mentioned, I'd be happy to make an mtz for you.

You can add the boot sound through the Theme Manager. If you have the mp3, open theme manager. Select customize at the bottom, select boot sound, then choose the music app to find the sound.
I replied to your pm, do you still need me to make the theme? It's best to have the theme on hand. It'll take less than 15 minutes for me to make it, so if you want it just respond to my pm. I get notification that way, I might forget to check the thread.

Hi all
Just got Droidzone's Gingerburst ROM and it's not listed in the UOT Kitchen, so I used the upload settings only to get a bootloop. I read Fredalf's other way of doing it through Root Explorer but the instructions weren't so clear.
Right now I have the zip file ready and waiting on my sd card. What shall i do next?
Please post the instructions and tell us, until which point you do not understand them. On this way it's much easier to help you.

i don't use this ROM, but have flashed many a UOT theme successfully without bootloop
1. did you upload all 3 relevant files: com.htc.resources.apk, SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk?
2. did you check the "Flashing folders for system files" in the file upload tab? look in your original ROM.zip to see which folders SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk are located in.
3. might not help, but sometimes suggested to wipe cache and dalvik before flashing, although i've done it successfully without
4. another long shot, but there may be some other option you've accidentally ticked inside the UOT kitchen itself which isn't compatible with your ROM, like the AOSP lockscreen, best to check again
the root explorer method requires S-OFF, though i've never done it this way. i guess u gotta extract the zip on your computer, copy the 3 files onto your SD card, then manually copy and overwrite them wherever they are located on the phone using Root explorer (e.g. into system/framework), then rebooting. it's basically the long way round what flashing the zip is supposed to do.
thanks for the replies.
yes i've followed the uot method of uploading all 3 correct files and i think i may have even done the wipes too. The result was the black screen with pink circle constantly looping.
I do have s off and i had gotten up to the extract part, although it wasn't explained what to extract and where.
Just extracted on computer and the com.htc.resources file isn't there although the other 2 are.

strange,
may be related to point number 2 in my previous post. open up your original ROM.zip on your PC, then search which folders framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk are located. look at the "Flashing folders for system files" in the UOT file upload tab, gives you the clues as to where they'll most likely be. probably system/framework and data/app(?) but varies from ROM to ROM.
put the framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk from the extracted kitchen zip onto your SD card (ignore the com.htc.resources file if it's not included) then copy them over to their respective locations using root explorer and overwrite (remember to mount read/write).
reboot - this is assuming you have your nandroid backup just in case
if it still doesnt work then might be number 4 of my previous post, or it's just beyond my knowledge...search the UOT thread if anyone with Gingerburst has got it working? must be possible...
again i've not done it this way myself, but don't see why it shouldnt work, await the wise MatDrOiD to confirm...

That didn't work, there must be some kind of glitch in the rom. Guess I'll just have to make do with horizontal battery for now. Thanks anyway.

Flash the file in this thread with CWM.
If you don't have cwm or want to do it manually extract the libsurfaceflinger.so from the zip (its in the system/lib folder).
Using a root explorer, copy this file to system on your phone, set permissions to rw-r--r-- and then move this file to system/lib, replacing the original file when asked. It may be a good idea to copy the original file as a backup before trying any of this.

i did this to my r800x which is 2.3.3, and its in a boot loop now. Is there a different version for 2.3.3? Or should that one work for every version?
I'm not sure, but i think it may not work on lower than 2.3.4. Also no idea about r800x support. Try posting on that thread itself, you may get more replies than here.
Can someone please upload a stock libsurfaceflinger.so file from their 2.3.3 phone?
