hey guys,
so this is my first post and all i've done up until now was to read... i'm afraid not real solution has come up.
i have:
Leedroid 3.1.2 with the recommended radio and i ran the script for Full Wipe 1.5 and cleared the battery stats, i did a fresh install and then didnt restore from backup - just installed everything from scratch. i hoped it would be ok, but when i woke up to check the current widget log, i saw that in the middle of the night he climbed to 150mA and stayed there draining about a 1% of battery in 3-4 minutes (!!!)
what can i do? 'where is my droid power' shows only HTC Sense at about 3.8% and mu wi-fi policy is to turn off after 15 minutes. i dont have push mail, and all the accounts are synced once every 4 hours....
please please help... thanks!

Hi all,
After instaling OTA 1.72.405.3 the android system is eating away my battery like crazy.
After 5 hours my battery was down to 29% (71% was used) and the android system was responsible for 60% of this. In my CurrentWidget log I can see that (with the phone in standby) it uses ~130 mA to ~160 mA.
Does anybody know what is going on or can anybody help me by telling how to find out what is going on?
[edit: If you have the same problem, please post a reply so we can find out if this is a big problem! Thx]
This happened to me yesterday! Found out that the system process had pegged out the CPU @ 100%
I couldn't fix it, and in the end restored to factory settings. Has been OK today but I killed the battery in about 4 hours.
Radio and kernel updated?

yes, i have the same problem! i posted another thread about it (titled constant sync after OTA update) as i first noticed the issue when the sync icon was always being displayed.
today my battery hit 20% after 6 hours with android system taking up 50% of the battery usage. its ridiculous!
if anyone has a workaround or a quick fix please post it up - this is untenable!
I have exactly the same issue, no problem with battery life before the latest OTA, and now the phone is dead within 8 hours with no usage, simply in the pocket with the display off.
Not happy at all, the phone is virtually unusable at the moment as any action accelerates the drain.
Strange! My phone is now with more battery life, after the update. It is SIM free ...

I posted this in another thread -
There seems to be a bug in the update for anyone who had HTCSense.com sync'ing turned on. Either disable all sync'ing for that and / or sign out of that account. It was consuming 100% of my CPU cycles and keeping the processor at the 1ghz mark. Once I disabled the HTCSense.com sync and rebooted the phone, all is good. I went from 100% CPU usage to about 4% and less when idle.
Personally, I'm not sure about HTCSense.com anyways. Way to buggy. I have all my SMS's backed up with SMSBackup+ to my Gmail and my contact / calendar is on Google. I've Wave Secure to lock down the phone if needs be / to find it. I think it's more reliable as well as I used to get a lot of "can't connect to the phone" on HTCSense.com and Wave secure uses at Text Message based system to activate the necessary features along with locking down the phone if the sim is removed / replaced! NICE!
Anywho, anyone who is having battery problems / finding the CPU is topepd at 100% try the above and see!!

I followed up with this:
I must say, I'm quite impressed with the battery life since the update (after I got rid of the 100% CPU bug).
I plugged the phone out at 11am this morning. Quite heavy texts (50+ sent today and at least that received). 10+ calls (incoming and out going) at 3-10mins each. Some Angry Birds, Some Market Updates. Disconnected my Facebook Acc and reconnected to cure a bug in the calendar (facebook entries were there twice), so all that data had to reload. Twitter usage through out the day. WiFi on all day. GPRS Radio only.
Now at 12.15am (so over 13 hours later), I've still got 50% Battery left! I would NEVER have gotten that previously. Not with the heavy use I gave it today.
How are other people finding it!?

Thanks for that. I dont really use any of the sense features myself so i've now disabled sense syncing completely and will see how it goes (once its fully charged again!). will keep this thread updated with any news from my end in any case.
I did notice the sync logo was up quite a bit... interesting!
Mine did it randomly... couldn't clear it so just went for factory reset which appears to have fixed it!
May turn of HTCSense however if it is likely to be causing problems...
I got the same Battery problem after new OTA and Im going crazy! What can I do? My battery lasts only about 4 hours now!!!!!!
Should I factory reset and wipe everything???
As ive posted in a few other threads i went into stock application manager and force closed everything i could to do with google, htc , friendstream, maps, facebook etc. After that my cpu 100% problem stopped, has never returned and battery life has improved compared to before the update.

I have disabled now HTCSense.com sincronization. I will see how this works tomorrow for me. I will let you know guys
I had htcsense.com enabled but to be frank I never really used it much...
disabled its syncing (every 3 hours I had set), rebooted, still had "android system" at ~65% and htc sense running at about 15% (tell me, I use launcher pro 99% of the time, is there any way to actually kill the sense ui? I swear its in the background)...
This did nothing, I tried actually removing the account, and even before a reboot the proc. usage dropped down to about 15%, which was apparently being used by the monitor I use (osmonitor). rebooted, let the phone settle, it did a sync, all seems well... So in my case an actual removal of the account was needed.
Try turning USB debugging on/off. I have it off after the last OTA and I have no /INIT problems. Maybe they fixed it...
I had the same problem, with the cpu running constantly at 100%. For me the solution was to remove the HTC Sense account, and then adding it again. After this the cpu usage dropped to normal.
well its been nearly 4 hours unplugged and i'm down to around 80% with around 30m of calls made and a dozen texts. not fantastic, but much better then before.
Did you try USB debugging? previously that has been mentioned as the CPU eater and battery hogger... just a thought..

Confirmed. I had the same exact problem and removing HTC Sense account did the trick.
I tried adding it again, but the cpu drain started again..... so I'll use it for some time without SenseSync.

well it seems i spoke too soon. i've just woken up to find that the battery died overnight. so sometime in the last 9 hours i've lost 80% battery whilst it has been on standby.
prateekgujral, i currently have usb debugging turned ON due to the /init problem. are you suggesting that i turn it off?

It should be on So its good.. What about the sync tthing dicsussed above?
I just flashed MIUI last night and noticed that my battery is being sucked dry pretty fast. I suspected that it is due to sync being switched on. Where can I make adjustments to the frequencies of the sync?
Either from the app or Settings>Personal>Accounts & Sync
Although I didn't have ANYTHING setup last night when trying it and lost 6% in about 10 mins - something's not right
Try resetting your battery indicator http://www.miui-au.com/howtos/reset-battery-indicator/. It is also recomended somewhere on the miui-au.com site to not charge your phone while flashing because it is somehow disruptive for the indicator.
I know all that, I wipe:
data/cache
dalvik-cache
battery stats
rotation settings
before flashing ANY ROM. Battery life is still crap

The weird thing is I wasn't charging the battery while flashing. I find it a bit surprising for MIUI 1.2.4 to be quite a beast in battery usage.

What would you consider a good battery life?? I flashed to 1.2.4 and it seems to last me all day without any problems?BUt I have noticed slight 5%-8% drop in the 1st hour or so but then it stablises throughtout the day. Ive not tweaked my phone with setCPU and I dont intend to either.
Something is rly wrong with your MIUI. Anyway, never use that Kernel which comes with miui. Use Vork or Coutts Kernel.
pls download current widget from market and test how much mA it drains in "screen off". im using miui-au 1.2.4 r2 with vork kernel and im losing 1% per our with wifi, sync and gps on. it uses 4-5 mA with screen off.
With previous MIUI builds, and with my own ROM I'm using now, I can go from 7:30am til midnight and still be on circa 50% battery. This is with my normal weekday usage. It goes down to about 30% by end of the day on weekends as I use the phone more
This build drops 5% in a few minutes and I just don't see that as being any good

I don't need to download anything, the ROM was dropping battery with NOTHING setup except for Wi-Fi. I didn't even setup my Gmail account to get my contacts!!
I think I can skip the obvious as I know full well what I'm doing and never had this issue with previous MIUI builds, and I never use the stock kernel - I always go for a Coutts one before first boot

I've Had my phone rooted, new Radio (Since Dec.) running latest LeeDroid.
Had my phone just the way i like everything, been very impressed with battery life over the past month with brilliant ROM updates.
Then randomly last week Wi-Fi usage shot up to the 60-90 mA level.
Why?
No new Rom had been installed for 2 weeks, so it wasn't that.
Wi-Fi off was 1-4 mA.
- I thought maybe its the applications I updated; Uninstalled all of them
Didn't work
- Maybe its fiddly settings like SYnc etc that have changed since App updates etc...
No settings had been altered.
- Maybe its a cache stats thing, I'll do a full wipe (Via CWM in Recovery Mode, select "Wipe Data/FactoryReset" option) and re-installed an even newer version of LeeDroid.
Still the battery drained 7-9 percent an hour on Standby(Screen Off).
1) Is it my router?
2) Is it a faulty WiFi part in the phone
3) What else besides the other two could it be?
i.e. - Battery was 60 percent with Wi-Fi on. -- Phone put into what appeared to be "Sleep Mode" (Pressing the power button once.)
-- 8 hours later battery was 15 percent!
Spare Parts showed "Time since Phone was in sleep" 8H
"Time since Wi-fi was in sleep" 8H.
Help greatly appreciated.
I had the same problem, disabling email sync in gmail solved the problem for me
Thanks GurliGebis; Tried that too even though I hadn't changed that setting since last week (When everything was fine).
Still no luck.
Any other thoughts?
Although almost 5 months have passed from the last reply on this thread I continue to have the EXACT same problem as you Tapori...
Have u figured it out mate?
Please reply if u have.
Thanks

I have tried it elsewhere and drain seems to be ok as far as i can recall. The problem is that even with my home router SOMETIMES there is no problem and drain seems normal.
So it's just a random thing but oh so annoying when it happens.
Thanks for trying to help though
Hey all
Something strange happened with my HD this morning.
At 5:30 the battery level was 90 %.
I wanted to test the battery drain, by leaving Mobile Data on,
and have Current Widget make a log file.
When i woke up at 11:30 the phone was dead. The battery
was completely empty....
I looked at the log file of Current Widget, and everything
was normal. Battery use was 3-5 mA, with the occasional spike to 50 mA,
where it prob. updated something.
Then at 07:36 it used 54 mA, and was on 86 %, and then nothing.
It died. And the battery was empty......
From 86% to zero in under 1 minute ?!?
Has anyone ever heard of such a thing ?
I'm on Core Droid 6.3, with Kernel Leedroid 2.6.35.13
Baseband : 12.54.60.2SU_26.09.04.11_M2
Have never had any problems before, and didn't install anything new...
Thanx for any help.
Maybe a battery calibration is in place?

3 things:
-you wake up at 11:30???? great hour!lol
-when you flashed your current rom you did wipe battery status?
-maybe there is some openned apk´s? take a look in settings-- process in progress
-if the problem persists and you can´t solve it i recommend to you do will wipe
reflash the rom, wipe batt. status & use batery calibrator tool

Thank You guys.
I did wipe Battery Status, and it has been running with no problem, and with
great battery life for about a week.
What freaked me was, that it happened so fast. According to Current Widget's
log file anyway.
From 86% to dead in under 1 minute.
Sounds imposibble. Just hope it never happens again
It has been running fine all day, with minimal battery use....
Thanx again, guys.
Hi all, I was using Google Map (with mobile data and GPS on), without navigation or anything just looking at the map. I was navigating with it (driving while looking at the map) for about 5 mins. After I reached the destination. I homed out from Google Map and turned mobile data and GPS off. The battery was about 80+%. After about 30mins later, I checked time on the phone. I saw the battery dropped to 60+% and the back of the phone is pretty warm. I immediately suspected some apps are running and battery leak. I opened up task manager and killed all user apps. But after about 1~2 hours when I try to check time again. The phone is blacked out, the battery is totally flat and the phone is quite hot. Something is really wrong here. This is the first time I've experienced battery drained till phone turned off!
My One X bought just 2 weeks and unrooted. Updated to 1.28.707.10 three days ago.
This is sad !! Anyone has similar experience ?
Do a factory reset of your device. After an update there always is some old data left which can screw things up. When you have reloaded the battery fully do a battery calibration (look for it in PlayStore).
Also check ou tmy thread which gives you maybe another idea
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599214
Hope everything will sort out for you.
Most of my battery drain has come from cpu app when I was testing apps out after I first rooted it. Its my first Android phone so I've been playing alot. The cpu apps seemed to drain the battery pretty quick and the cpu seemed to stuck at a max of 1400 instead of 1500.. it sorted itself out after a reset. The other thing is I have my screen set to minimum as I don't like it bright anyway but if its set to brighter than say 25% then the battery will start to drain pretty quick also.
I had something similar, but with the Desire HD and custom rom.. I had about 52%, went to sleep for about 6~7hours.. phone dead..
then I just charged it, and after that it didn't happen again... don't know what it was
. sorry incorrect post
