Regarding the OTA update - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings everybody!
Apologies in advance if this has been asked before, I am about to receive my OTA update (download in progress as I type). Just wanted to ask will I lose all my customization? I have launcher pro plus with a fully customized home screen, widget-locker, beautiful widgets etc. If the update goes through, will I have to do it all over again or do my custom settings remain intact? Would really appreciate if someone could clarify this for me.
Thanks heaps!

The majority of your settings should (fingers crossed) stay intact.
You could of course do a backup with my backup pro or similar if you're worried.

No, you wont lose any settings.

Sweet.. thanks for the quick replies guys! Been stuck on the screen with a small android and an exclamation mark for about 20 minutes now, any idea how long it takes? Or should I be worried?

Nevermind folks, I think I found the solution!

Guess I was wrong and too quick to jump to conclusions. I unrooted my phone which I thought would fix the problem but that caused all my apps to crash on starup and the system was continously laggy. Glad I made a nandroid backup last week so did a full restore. Everything's working fine again but I'm back to step 1.
Any suggestions?

Hey I did restore to the stock Vodafone ROM and tried to install the update through OTA, but as soon as the download finishes the phone restarts to a yellow exclamation and green android guy! What is going wrong?

Same problem here, although I didnt restore to stock, I was just about to but I think now I'll leave it just as it is for a while

By any chance are you rooted? Even if your running rooted stock, the Ota's will fail.

Where is the OTA update??????

Ok
The first time it showed up (when activating), it offered the OTA update and I declined. Then I took it home, rooted the phone, and everything went well...
BUT I can't find the OTA update anymore... and the SD card bug is killing me!!!!
Is there any other way of installing it?????
From the main screen
Menu - Settings - System Updates
Check all 4 to see if any updates are available but im pretty sure "HTC software update" was the OTA
Actually go over to android central and download rvu 1.1 its based on the newest ruu with that update included and its still rooted
Btw this should be in general section not development
I know, but it keeps telling me that there is no update available!!!
And I am running
Baseband: 1.39.00.04.26
Build: 1.32.651.1 CL171253 test-keys
Software: 1.32.651.1
And it keeps telling me YOUR PHONE IS UP TO DATE
Is there any way to force it????

But, that ruu is missing may of the included apps (all the sprint and HTC ones, and I need them). Also, it wipes all the information....,
So, no other way?
Besides I read that that particular ruu kills the 4g radio...
So, I am the only one or most of you are running without the OTA update?
I like to root, in fact the wifi tethering is working great, but the SD issue is really annoying....

i too couldn't get the update to re-show up after not accepting it the first time. i went to system updates and tried both htc and firmware, and the OTA update still wouldn't show. Then i enabled wifi, soft reset, and boom, it showed up. Give it a try, worked for me....

Well, I had it on wifi all the time, and no luck.... now... when you say "soft reset", how exactly? I just turn it off, and then turn it on again... Is there a soft reset option that I am missing somewhere?
If the root changed your recovery you likely won't get OTA's anymore.

Ok, that's what I was suspecting...
So.. what are my options now? Is there a way of getting the updates manually? or is there a way of changing the recovery back or modifying some settings to re-allow updates?
I had the same problem after installing one of the custom firmware images. Never could get the OTA to show up. I ended up installing the stock .6 firmware using the RUU.
Look for the "[ROM]RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.6" thread in EVO 4 Android Development. (sorry, new user account on the forums, it won't let me post links yet).

Whats the new "Android System Update"?

I just got an android 48.6MB software push on my phone today, anyone know what it is? for that matter where are the software pushes stored?
Perhaps the new EK02 update? It has been push for the past days system wide.
Use the search button, it is your friend...
Either way, its an update to get rid of the LOS issues people were having among other bug fixes. and as far as i know, it is stored in /cache
Didnt see it in /cache unless its hidden, thank you for reply it was EK02
Does anyone know how this would trouble rooting?
I know that I had been rooted, I applied the update (since I knew it was coming and what it was for), error message popped up and phone locked. As a result I used CWM and restored an old backup and sure enough everything is fine. Unrooted, factory reset, applied update. I am good.
Now how do I root? Can I root? What root method? I have been using the ZedoMax 4.1 root with Odin but I am not sure that this is the best root out there. Would any of these revert the update?
Thanks!
Booo 2.3.6/EK02 didnt fix shutter, focus sound now, I still wake the baby up if I take a photo. Is there a Non-Root kill for this that works 100% because I notice if you use the barcode scanner app it doesnt make a shutter noise.
hello all,
Can I do apply this update..?
I ask you because, my phone are only unlocked...I use my phone on Mexico
NOTE: The phone not ROOTED..!!
I waiting your response....

I'm curious. After you restored an old backup and unrooted/reset, did the update get pushed to your phone again? Here's the easiest way to root

Yes. The update pushed to my phone. I didn't know if any of the previous settings would cause my phone to brick, but apparently it worked fine... no problems... flawless root.

theres some app for no shutter sound, it acutally might be called that no shutter cant remember..
If not, just flash a rom that has camera sounds removed?
So, I'm on Blazer ROM and I'm getting the update push. Will it brick me if I update? I seriously don't need that at the moment so its in my best interest to figure that out first before I go ahead.
Did anyone else try to update theirs? I have EK02 and Starburst 1.9.8. I just want to make sure this won't brick my phone or do any damage. I'm away from home for another three weeks and I wanna make sure this update won't make mine a useless piece of crap.
Annoying that root ed people are getting the update push as well...
Does that mean it's tied to your acct?
Should probably expect more of these in the future...I wouldn't install it on a root ed phone...
...
Has anyone on a rooted Epic 4G Touch ran this update? And if so, did it unroot or brick anybody? I'm getting tired of getting the update notification pop-up.. I'm either going to follow the guide to removing it, or run the update, depending on any official word that it won't screw up my customized phone... I certainly don't want to have to redo everything.
Thanks in advance!
I tried to run the update it restarted my phone and it give me a explanation mark with green android icon. wtf does that mean??? I restarted the phone now the update message doesn't even pop up assuming it updated it???
Android version : 2.3.4
Kernel: 2.6.35.7 zedomax
hardware version: d710.10
buildnumber: midnight rom 2.0
I blindly installed the OTA yesterday.
I had Rooted stock version of 2.3.4.
Now I have Rooted 2.3.6.
Looked up information all yesterday and all I could see was LOS fix and system RAM was increased by decreasing the OS requirements (somehow). Some people said this
made their phone perform faster.
Right away I noticed I had to reset all my bluetooth connected devices.
No other problems were noticed. I am still rooted, woohoo.
Just tried installing this on the latest Blazer Rom (not the beta one) and got a error after restarting. It then booted into Team Rogue recovery and I rebooted the phone and now it dosen't ask me for a update. My baseband version is eg30 and kernel is ek02. Don't think I am doing something wrong, if I am can someone tell me

Well I think it's a good thing it didn't ask me because I didn't want the update considering I like my ROM. The update only fixes LoS issues and other problems. You can actually find the updated kernel on these forums and flash it to your phone if you have problems with signal otherwise the update really doesn't do much.
You can also flash to Blazer Rom EL13 beta rom and it will improve your data speeds but users have reported slower WiFi speeds. It also gets rid of the update message since its the latest update. ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)
TL;DR: The update is useless unless you have LoS issues.

what is the file name of the update you are trying to install?
where did you get it from?
also, try booting into recovery and see if it is stock or custom, just in case someone unrooted thru SuperSU but didn't replace the custom recovery? (might be the same thing as what cmdauria suggested?)

After totally powering off your phone you can then get in to recovery by pressing Volume Up, Home and power buttons simultaneously. Does the system recovery screen come up when you do this or does a custom recovery screen appear? It's good to know that some folks are getting the update notice.

That's the system recovery screen. It sounds like there is something wrong with the update itself. I have yet to read/hear that anyone has successfully installed the update. As a matter of fact, you are the first person that I have seen who has indicated that they received the update notice. I definitely have not received one. You may need to check with Sprint technical personnel to see if there is a problem. I know that some carriers are delaying the update to late December because of problems.

GT-N7105T - Stuck in Factory Mode help

Hi Everyone,
I'm hopeless at Forums so please direct me if there's something here to assist.
I got my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 off a friend who did a factory reset before giving it to me. For whatever reason the phone is now in Factory Mode and won't exit. I'm getting the same black box and yellow writing on my screen as this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/galaxy-s3-yellow-letters-screen-t2071052
I have Rooted my as per the following thread (which I'm pretty sure linked off this forum)
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/root-galaxy-note-2-lte-gt-n7105-all-android-4-4-2-kitkat-firmware-1448702
I get to the step where I have to change the efs/FactoryApp/FactoryMode from ON to OFF however I get a '! Could not save file, Access Denied" message. Have I missed anything?
I'm using Root File Explorer and Text Edit to do the job.
Model Number: GT-N7105T
Android Version: 4.3
Kernel Version

[email protected] #1
Build Number: JSS15J.N7105TDVUEMK2
SE for Android Status: Enforcing SEPF-GT-N7195_4.3-0010
I'm lost. I'd like to get it out of Factory Mode so I can use some of the key stuff like the lock screen for one!.
Let me know if I'm on the right track. I've tried clearing the cache and restoring to factory settings a few times and not working.
Appreciate your help and guidance.

Why don't you flash the latest factory image?
You can't flash an OTA update via custom recovery.
Loving this new update!
However, if you want to save resources and please your customers at the same time when doing the next update -
skip the nextbit bits.
Just make the next updates (if you plan on making any more of course) stock, for all intents and purposes, except perhaps for the backup/cloud feature.
revert back to 7.0 ?
