[Q] Phone locked at HTC screen after flashing Kernal - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all! Very nice to be here and super informative. I now have a problem with my Telus Desire HD I was following the guides and everything went well. I then flashed the Telus user kernal and Im now stuck at the htc screen
I fully rooted my phone and then flashed the Android Revolution HD, along with the Eng S-OFF stuff following all the steps.
edit://Well I ran a recovery with ClockWorkMod 3.0.2.6 and it boots up now. Is there a link for another sound fix? I found one called TurboniumX_Inspire_Audio_Fix_Only_for_Inspire4G_or_Telus_users but doesnt work as it gives me an error that it cant find an image when I open it with Kernal Update Utility.

Have you taken a look in the Leedroid thread? There is a Telus audio fix there.

I have not. Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't browse that thread since it was a different ROM But thanks Will try flashing it tomorrow ^_^

Alrighty. Btw the file fix is called "Convert Desire HD to Inspire 4G" or something along those lines.
Wait a second. Kernel Update Utility? You're not supposed to use that to flash this fix! Just flash in recovery the same way you flash a Rom.

Oh...does that apply to the other Telus Kernal? I used the utility to flash it @[email protected] Was following another Desire HD guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954997
XD Maybe that's why...
So it's not the kernel called LeeDrOiD GB V3.1.2 - 2.6.35.13 KERNEL?

The kernel update utility is used for flashing kernels only. You're looking for the audio fix right? So flashing that through recovery should be the correct way.

Ahh well I just flashed TurboniumX_Inspire_Audio_Fix_Only_for_Inspire4G_or_Telus_users to my phone and audio seems to be a smudge better! Found it in the Telus Desire HD guide Thanks a lot!! Did it through CWM ^_^

Glad it's sorted

[Q]A n00b question : Fastboot / Clockworkmod difference

Hi !
Please appologize my poor english. I'll try to do my best. I a newcomer in DHD universe.
I've :
- rooted my DHD with Visionary
- added S-OFF with scripts
- installed Rom Manager and patched recovery mode with Clockworkmod.
... At this time, can I install custom roms ?
Because I don't understand stuff about "fastboot". I've done nothing with it. Only the three things above.
Thank you for your answers... I don't want to brick my phone

You have done well so far buddy
I would highly recommend using Apache14's radio s-off and superCID. And doing a backup through clockwork mod before trying anything.
One done all that Just download the zip from whatever ROM you would like and flash with clockworkmod.
Happy & safe flashing
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Thank you !
But... what is this "Apache14's radio s-off and superCID" ??? Is it a custom rom ? I've just installed "Revolution HD" and it works perfectly. Do I need to do something else ?
No, you do not have to do anything anymore.

What is your "OC", in your signature ?

OC means overclocked. Just means they might have flashed a kernel that overclocks the cpu or that they have rooted and used a utility called SetCPU which allows you to overclock your phone to make it faster.

[Q] HTC Desire Rooting Problems,

Hi,
Firstly my stock rom is:
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_H3G_UK_2.25.771.1_Radio_32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14_release_149217_signed.exe
locked to 3 in the UK
I tried to Root my phone yesterday using this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
After completing step 3 rooting phone using unrevoked everything seemed fine but when i tried step 4: S-Off Procedure With Alpharev
it tells me my device is undetectable or doesnt exist. And in the recovery menu of the phone it tells me that misc and cache could not be found or mounted.
I tried to reflash the stock RUU but when i click next it tells me the battery is below 30% (its 100%) and wont let me flash. I did enable install from unkown sources and enabled USB Debugging.
Does anyone know what my next step is cause my goal is to unroot my phone and install a rom like Redux.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
If you need any additional info just ask.
Thanks,
I had trouble at that stage too, it just took my PC a few attempts to connect.
It might be worth just giving it a few more goes.
I also found it useful to install AmonRas recovery as a custom recovery with the unrevoked tool, and to also not install the recovery in alpharev.
Have you tried wiping the battery userdata in recovery before running the RUU?
Thank you so much, AmonRas recovery showed no dam errors like clockwork did, im about to attempt to s-off it now, il update this in a while about how it goes.
Hopefully it should be smooth sailing from here.
Thanks!
I found that alpharev refused to recognise my device while I remained on stock sense rom after rooting. Only when I flashed custom rom if choice (oxygen at the time) did it work.
You have to avoid roms using data2sd etc though, instructions at http://www.alpharev.com

Confused the heck out of me, I thought alpharev were getting sponsored advertising or something.
So OP are things working? Which ROM did you decide on?

[Q] Virtuous Unity Sense 3.0 based on Pyramid 1.26.0 RELEASED]

Hi I'm sorry if this post was already answered but i'm having a bit of a problem with the latest version of Unity. Every time i install the ROM for the first time, it finishes and then reboots. It stays on the HTC logo screen and then the screen turns black and reboots back into CWM recovery. Like i said before, i don't know if this question has been posted before but i would appreciate the help a lot. Thanks .
maybe there's a setting that you tell it to restart with cwm recovery?
Um i don't think there is lol. I just flashed it like i did with older versions and it just does not want to boot up .
If u're using G2, you may want to flash DZ's Hboot before using any unity ROM
check out this link http://www.virtuousrom.com/2011/06/t-mobile-g2-users-migrating-to-desirez.html
Yeah, As posted above, you'll need Dz Hboot, bcoz g2 hboot has 400mb of system memory where the rom will install and not enough for unity, and the dz hboot has 535mb of system memory.

not may, but you must have the DZ HBOOT to flash 1.26. 1.25 works fine on G2 though.

[Q] S-OFF Help

I’ve recently rooted my desire (gsm) using unrevoked (Linux) and i thought it would also give me S-OFF but apparently I where wrong. I've already searched around looking for a way to get S-OFF and in all the TUT’s, Guides etc. it says that you should have an unrooted stock HTC 2.2 ROM or at least an official HTC ROM and that’s the problem…
I’m using Cyanogen Mod 7.1 and I had a backup of my stock 2.2 Sense ROM but I lost it.. or. well... i deleted it accidentally.
Now the question is; Can I still get S-OFF and how? Do I flash a HTC ROM and then do it, should I use AlphaRev, Revolutionary or do it manually (if that works on Ubuntu)
All help appreciated
It should work fine with CM7 aslong as you didnt flashed any a2sd/d2ext scripts.
If i remember correctly, i was doing my first S-OFF with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768703&highlight=leedroid

does that mean you have to flash stock ROM?
i once had this problem too, it causes my phone to stuck at the boot screen (Joker with S-OFF card), and then i flashed a ROM built without A2SD. Voila, it worked!

I don’t know. I downloaded CM7 using rom manager flashed that, Gapps and superuser 3.0 beta 4
But just to be on the safe side I’ll flash Leedroid 2.2 but then what? Do I use Revolutonary or AlphaRev??
edit: a2sd/d2ext scripts it that when you have partitioned the sdcard? cause ive done that but thats easy to fix
No point in using alpharev it's just longer. Use revolutionary.

WiFi issues
Hi there,
i'm new to xda, but not new in getting root, flashing ROMs, Radios, Recovery etc...
My problem ist the WiFi connection, connection is very bad, i cannot go far away from the WiFi Router/Access Point. The singnal is getting lost very very fast. I have a second Desire here with pre-rooted stock GB ROM, there it is much better!
Here some information about my device:
Runnymede AIO 6.0.4.1 (Had same issue in all versions before)
Droidzone Kernel from Aroma Installer
Newest Radio!
Stock HBoot with APP2SD
Did someone have the same problems and a solution for me? Maybe another Kernel? Or shoud i try another Sense 3.5 ROM (insertcoin, RSK, ...?) I don't linke AOSP and ICS is too buggy for me.

I'm fairly new to this and only had this ROM installed for a few days (so experts, please feel free to correct me if I am wrong), but this ROM has a form of A2SD built into it that operates automatically. Provided that your ext4 partition is 1GB+, you should have plenty of room for your apps without changing hboots. Just an idea if you don't want to go to the trouble of researching this extra step.
