Is there a guide on how to take apart your DHD, more specifically the GPS plastic thing.
I remember seeing threads like that a couple of times but I couldn't find them now
Thanks!

There's this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfatoeWbMRk

different camera software

Is there other camera software. My camera is barley passable. There is way too long of a delay till it actually snaps a picture by the time it does the subject has moved and most of the time just comes out blurry. With video if you pan even slowly its also blurry. Is this a hardware issue in which case were stuck or is it software in whcih case is there an alternate. Ive searched and found none. I read the posts about the plastic piece and was thiking of removing it because there is an improvement but what about dust getting into other plastic part on the lens which seems harder to clean. Thanks for any help.

Which version of the Rhodium have you got?
I have a European GSM version, and the back cover has a hole in it and there's no extra clear plastic piece. Dust does sometimes get in, but nothing that a quick wipe with a microfibre cloth doesn't solve.
I have the US sprint cdma version.
Does that have the plastic on the back battery cover? I think the T-Mobile version had, but not sure about the Sprint one.
Anyway if there is a plastic piece on the battery cover, then removing might give you a bit of a better picture.
Also you can try the advice here:

It works for some other HTC models (Fuze and Touch HD) and the brightness tweak seemed to work on my Touch Pro 2.
Finally, I don't know of any alternative camera apps. I've flashed a custom ROM on my phone which has an updated HTC camera app. The response is fine, although pictures can be a bit grainy (which is a kind of pay-off).
thanks for the reply. im not sure about taking off the plastic altough i knoow it would help. im nervous about dust getting stuff getting in. Ill have to read about what others said about that. I read the link you sent and it seems to have really helped. Im not sure about one thing though:
To enable the frames per second on your
camera just make this tweak (click for original posting): HKLM/Software/HTC/Camera/
Common and change EnableFrameRateInfo to
1
What does he mean and how do i do that?
Thanks again
Steve
Wow my first post...anyway, both BSB Tweeks and Advance Config let you adjust your camera settings without having to do any registry changes. Hope that helps, I love my camera now

It means change a registry key, but registry editing can be messy if you're not sure what you're doing, so always back-up if you do make changes. As cgonzgo says there are apps that can do the changes behind the scenes for you.
The thread on xda-developers for the Advanced Configuration Tool is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=418151
As to the specific key for displaying the frame rate information, this can be useful but not strictly necessary. As the article stated, just waving your hand in front of the camera to check for blurriness can be a quick-and-dirty way of seeing the difference.
thanks. I downloaded advanced configuration and made the changes and there is an improvment.
No problem. I'm glad it worked out for you.

Desire Dis/Assembly

I was having a geek 5 minutes at work and wanted to find out what the insides of my phone looked like.

At 2:15 on the assembly vid there is a tantelising piece of copper and I want to see under it. I googled like mad but couldn't find the CPU/mainboard layout for the deisre/bravo.
There is actually a reason wanting to know but I'll wait to see if people engage with this thread before wasting my digital breath on outlining the idea.
You got brass ones dude :O
There are plenty tutorials on stripping / assembling your phone. I'd rather look at pictures than strip my own phone
Kudo's though, cause you're brave.
I don't exactly know what you mean by "a tantelising piece of copper".
What you see on the frame is:
- LCD screen from the back.
- A part of the digitizer at the right.
- At the bottom, your plastic hardware buttons.
- The module he is holding is the hardware button module.
Disassembly is really easy, only time you have to be carefull is that you make sure your volume keys are dissembled correctly, before removing the motherboard.
LOL
I'm not planning on stripping my phone.
I just wanted to see the CPU on the main board, how many tracks lead off from it etc.

[Resolved] Digitizer Dead-zone...?

So I got this nice (albeit beat-up, but 100% functional) G2 from a friend, and for about 3 weeks it had no problems. I rooted it, put CyanogenMod 7.2 on it, worked fine.
About 3 days ago, it started behaving really weird while I was using it. Interfaces not responding, at times opening things when I didn't have my finger on the screen, usual possessed phone behavior) I did some investigating with the Developer Tools' Pointer Location display, and there's this massive dead-zone on my digitizer! The dead-zone (while holding the phone in landscape) goes from X=255.1 to X=401.1, and covers all the Y-values in that range. if I move my finger slowly enough through the deadzone from one fo the sides of it, it will register as being directly in the center of it. Other times it will show a very light touch on the right side of the zone, activating interface elements and the like.
What happened? Do I have to replace the digitizer? I don't have a warranty on it, seeing as I got it second-hand. Possible fixes, if it's not a serious hardware issue?
I don't have money to spare, so buying things to fix it might take a lot of saving.
EDIT: Got it in the mail finally, replaced it in 45 minutes. I had to use the dorm's heated-air hand-dryer to get it off, and I kinda messed up the glue a bit, but it's working just fine.
If you have to replace the digitizer, I would not worry. I just got done replacing the lcd on my G2, and it works. I bought the lcd (in your case it would be a digitizer) off ebay and my purchased also included the screw drivers and plastic tip thingy to open the phone. For the digitizer you might need to also get double sided tape.
There is a youtube video showing how to take a part and put back the phone. I think the video was like 30min, but when I did it, the time was 1.5hrs totally.
good luck if you go that route.
Previous post is spot on, for most people I would assume this won't be a hard task, I have opened and repaired dozens of g2s (and many other phones) and although sliders tend to be the most complicated its really straight forward
Find a YouTube video or other instructions online and look at it ahead of time to see if its something you feel comfortable with. Then if so, order the digitizer (90% this is the cause 10% the main flex) for around 15-20$ and all you need is a #0 Philips and a t5 torx and a hairdryer/heat gun
You won't need tape as there is more than enough sticky left after prying of the digitizer. Expect about that hour in half if your new to this, but can be done in less than 20 if you do it a lot Here is a link to info on your phone including repair guides

Best of luck!

Aw. Was hoping this wouldn't be the solution.
That sucks. Just went and ordered one, it came with screwdrivers and the prying tool, but I don't have any double-sided tape. Let's hope it's still sticky. Well, it supposedly gets here on the 9th, so I'll read up on replacing from these links. Thanks for the support. Hope I don't break the thing. :/

[Q] How To Remove The Camera Hardware HTC One X?

Hi People,
I have an HTC One X, but it is dead and ha been laying around for months, collecting dusts.. ..So I thought of taking it apart and using it in DIY projects(if possible)..
What I want to know is..Is It Really Possible To DO That?..
Of course it's removable. Both front and rear camera module is detachable. There are countless disassembly video for this phone on youtube. But before you take it apart, are you sure that the phone is no longer repairable?

If I were you, i'd buy a new battery and fit it first, they are cheap enough, if the phone doesn't start then check the charge port to make sure its not broken off on the tab, they are resonably easy fixes which may fix the phone, then you have a working one. If not you have spare parts.

[Q] Dust in Camera Lens [SOLVED]

I know people run into this all the time with other phones, but I'm not sure how to fix it with this particular phone. I keep it in my pocket all the time and the little hole right beside the camera lens must be letting in pocket dust. The quality of the camera pictures are much lower and the camera has a hard time gauging light now.
Any one have any idea how to clean it out? I've tried blowing compressed air at various angles into the hole but it doesn't really help. Maybe disassembling the phone is the only way, but I haven't been brave enough to try it yet.
EDIT:
So fixing the problem was relatively easy, although it may void your warranty. You simply need to remove the two small T3 screws on the bottom of the phone and open the phone by pulling the phone open. There is a video demonstrating the disassembly (just search youtube or google for "Amazon Fire Phone Teardown Review" by iFixit Video). [remove spaces below for direct link, i'm a newbie so can't post links yet]
www . you tube . com / watch ? v = d5k-AWEeWqo
As you open it, there will be a small sticker that gets detached that proves to Amazon that you opened it and will likely void your warranty. If you are ok with that, you simply clean out the clear lens cover and reassemble by snapping the phone back together, starting with the top of the phone.
I have got the exact same problem. I don't know what to do. Picture quality is much lower, they are now a little bit overexposed and washed out.
I was thinking to send it back to warranty, but I don't know if it qualifies for warranty.
If you can open yours and clean your camera, please post instructions here.
Thanks
Edit:
I have just seen a Youtube video and it appears you only have to unscrew the two little bottom screws to remove the back cover.
I'm in the same boat after just a little over a month of usage.
Solved, see original post
Just did it. Worked perfectly. Make sure you take the SIM card out!!! I almost cracked the case trying to open it with the SIM card in. Cleaned the lens cover with a swab. Pictures are clear again. Yea!!
any permanent solution?
Cleaning the lens will be a temporary solution.
The dust will continue to enter inside when you keep your phone in your pocket..
Please let me know about a permanent solution for the same.
I m unable to use the fire phone's camera since then.
Any rubber piece to seal the entrance of the dust over the camera?? ???
