Hey guys,
i was wondering if it is possible to buy a broken HTC HD7, take it apart and use the case of it on the HTC Desire HD? I know i would have to take that one also apart... but i like the Android Power of my DHD so much =))
But on the other hand the Case of the HD7 is really nice also cause of the Flipstand.
Is that possible or not? what do you guys think?
just want a more individual phone =))
It wouldn't work.
Firstly the HD7 had 3 buttons on the front & the DHD has 4.

If you really want a kickstand for your DHD i suggest you buy one of these.

Yeah but thos 3 Buttons are on the Screen of the HD7 and if i take the one of my DHD what is obviously to me. Then it should work out again.
I'm more curious if the Speakers and the Volume-buttons will work... i mean they are probably connected in a different way and are in different positions or not?

It would work if you made sure that everything was in exactly in the same place. Like the volume buttons, earpiece, that front flashy light, the proximity sensor, the camera, the flash, speaker, usb port, headphone port and quite a few more things. It may also be a different thickness and the shape might be different.
So if you add up everything it is unlikely that it would be possible.

mhm okay, i might just google for an assembly/disassembly manual of both phones... maybe it is possible...
The Desire HD is a bigger phone & the HD7 has a dedicated Camera button (like all WP7 Phones) and volume buttons on the right side.
HD7 = 4.80 x 2.68 x 0.44 (122 x 68 x 11.2 mm)
DHD = 4.84 x 2.68 x 0.46 (123 x 68 x 11.8 mm)
It wont work.

Very cool, interresting spring-in cylinder near the hinge. Is that the source of the weak hinge woes? (I actually have no problem with the hinge =))
We see, that it HAS spring... Wtf happened to it?
ha! so the hinge is actually spring loaded? Anybody think the "hinge problem" can be fixed by just using a tighter spring?
good thing i held off on buying it. whoever said the hinge works mainly on gravity is just spewing BS...
Doesn't the fact that the spring is at right angles to the opening direction of the phone mean it's not contributing towards the actual opening/closing ? And perhaps it's just a spring-loaded thing to release the clips to take the phone apart ? I could be way off though.
Couldn't that spring be like part of the antenna?
One of my previous phones also had a coil antenna like that inside.
I must agree that it looks like it's part of the hinge, but then again it also looks like it's not directly connected to it.
It doesn't looks like 'a spring' to me... more like an antenna.

You can open your keyboard and see a lift in that place, I don't think that it's antenna
Its a spring for the hinge, if you move the top half of the phone vertical downwards (with respect to the phone and not the ground, you'll be moving the top half parallell to the ground considering the phone is on a flat surface) while holding the bottom fixed you can feel the spring give slightly.
I dont know what it is but if it is spring for hinge mechanism it seems to be broken. At the first picture the device is closed. At the second one it is open. Spring is the same, not shorter or longer.
So I guess that it dont work?

Like I suggested earlier, the spring is at right-angles to the direction of opening. So I'm not suprised it doesn't change.
It is a spring to govern the hinge. See this thread on the G2 forums, which explains how to modify your hinge if it seems too loose !

cool.. only thing that i hate about this phone is its slide type..
This is my story. I had HTC Desire and I'm driving a car a lot, so I spent 50 euro to active car holder (CU-S420). But after I changed phone to Sensation and guess what, another 50 euro for new holder (the old one not fit), is pretty annoying isn't??
But it don't have to be like this.
HTC making THE SAME car holder for several phones, only thing is diferent is a plastic plate which holding phone in place. This plate can be very easy removed (it have to be pressed gently downwards) and exchanged with plate fitting other phone. Cost of piece of plastic is nothing compare to whole car upgrade pack.
But there is one problem, I cannot find where I can buy just a plate, HTC not selling them alone. Maybe somebody knows any company where I can buy it?
Or maybe someone have a plastic injection machine in the basement and can make that kind of plates...
So far I've found, list of HTC Car holders which are the same, just using diferent plates:
CU-S400 Desire HD and HD2
CU-S420 Desire
CU-S460 Incredible S
CU-S470 Desire S
CU-S490 Sensation (XE)
CU-S520 Evo 3D
CU-S570 Velocity4G
CU-S600 Titan
There is some photos of my holder for Sensation, I can put in OneX and it's fit if I could have the right plate

I know here in the states I hade to buy a a whole new home dock for my 3D after buying one for my 4G. This is one of 2 places where iPhone and iPad beats Android hands down. They have the best peripherals because they have a consistent interface for them. In Android you cannot even get the same manufacturer to keep a consistent design among phones from the same company even. Motorola kind of did it with same generation phones and their lapdocks. But the second gen dock did not support the original Atrix.
You are right in your case that this is simply solved. Why not include the 3 or 4 plastic inserts on this car dock so that you can at least use it with whatever design you need.
I would try to reach out to HTC if it is first party, which it sounds like it is,and see if they can point you where to find the additional inserts. You never know they may just send them to you.
nice

I change to jokawild v3, and no flickering happens, the best i current used, search the development thread for more information.
I'm using CM9 RC2 with included kernel and everything seems to be working just fine, remember to wipe data, cache and dalvic cache before flashing a custom rom.

Sounds like a problem with the flex cable, people have had this happen to them and the fact that sliding it out only makes it more feasible that it is the flex cable.
EDIT- Here's a whole thread of people discussing the problem you're having http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527498&highlight=flex
I've fix a lot of Xperia Plays and I can assure you that the problem is caused by a faulty flex cable. With the sliding mechanism, eventually the flex cable gets worn out and the signal for the screen gets garbled exactly like in that picture. The damage comes in varying degree so even if you see the screen sometimes it still means you have a problem with your flex cable. You can buy the individual flex cable cheaply on eBay but if you don't want to take your phone COMPLETELY apart (which is necessary to switch out the flex cable since it is behind the LCD), you can buy the front housing for a higher price which is MUCH easier to switch out since you only need to take off the backing, pop of the cable connector, separate the lower housing from the upper housing and switch in the new upper housing.
There's a very thorough picture guide somewhere in the forum for fixing any part of the Xperia Play.
Thank you guys! Just bought a complete replacement to my PLAY : Front. Back, touchpad. gamepad buttons all of that
Haha you can see that my PLAY looks a bit busted

I already got the HTC 10 coming and need a good belt pouch. Sorta like this: http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ZlAAAOSw~bFWQ4JH/s-l500.jpg Nothing fancy. Only problem is, the sides block the headphone jack, which for the HTC 10, is in the middle... That causes problems, as I'd like to listen to music while I carry the phone.
I've already tried searching on google, looked through amazon and ebay, and can't find something like this. I would like a pouch, not one of those bulky cases that attach the phone to the belt. Also, horizontal pouch is highly preferable.
If anyone knows where I can find one like that, please help a nendo out. Thank you!

I'd imagine any other holster/item from this seller for the HTC One M9 would work just as well with the HTC 10.
EDIT:
Just an added BTW:
If you select one of this sellers items, you'll wanna check to see if the holster will accommodate a case, that is,if you're gonna use a case.
Most items are custom made for use w/o a case, you may be able to get by using a backless bumper,or the absolute slimmest of cases.
The close fit is to ensure security within the holster,I imagine,so,best to take overall dimension measurements (LxWxH & thickness) when inquiring.
Use a right angle headphone adapter, preferably one with short cable to separate Jack. I think there is room in that case, end to end for the angled plug.

So, anyoneknow what the little hole/dent is above the flash? Doesnt seem to serve any purpose, but guess its there for a reason. At first i thought it was a chip in the glass, but then searched and saw they all have them.
Maybe it is the zoom microphone for video? That is what I think.
I just checked the official hardware diagram, and it's not explained there. The one you refer to (above the flash) is not part of the diagram at all, I just checked my phone and I also got a small hole above the flash, even though there is no indication about it on the diagram. There are also 2 little holes clearly visible above/between the wide and ultrawide cams that are also not explained.
Mh. Might be a rear microphone, as Markus_G assumes, but we don't know for sure.
Since it's the only part of the rear camera module that has an actual hole (cutout in the glass), it's probably relatively safe to assume that it's a microphone.

It is known for certainty that the P6 Pro has a secondary, ambient light sensor inside the rear camera module (plus one at the front next to the selfie cam). But we don't know for sure which hole is which.
I just checked the previous hardware diagrams, and in some of them Google added a couple of informations retroactively.
I highlighted the interesting part.
This is just odd. I checked my old P4 and there is the same cutout next to the flash that you referred to above the P6 flash. BUT that cutout is not mentioned - not even shown, it doesn't exist - on the P6 diagram. I can only assume that the P6 Pro diagram is wrong/does not represent the final product that was launched. It seems that Google needs to update it's diagram, since it refers to - probably - a pre-production model/state.
ah it is indeed a mic....
Not on the hole, but the flash emits a tiny bit of light at all times. You can see it in darkness after your eyes have adapted to it.

Only if its been activated recently. Takes a little while but it does indeed go completely dim.
That explains, I use the torch a lot before going to sleep to avoid waking anybody up.

Possibly under some contexts, but likely used for taking audio with videos.
