Hi. Since I updated DHD to 2.3 Gingerbread my stock email app is behaving differently. Basically, when I open my email it immediately opens 'All messages' and when I press the back button it flips to 'Inbox'. Previously, before the update, it would open automatically in my inbox. I know that it is not a major issues but one of the many annoyances i am having since the 2.3 update. Unfortunately, I can't find any setting to alter this. Any help would be appreciated. Kind regards, Scott

I have searched quite a bit on this, and found many threads about putting in the stock mail app onto 2.2. All of these seem to shift to exchange support, specifically dealing with security rules.
My issue is a bit different. We have Novell Groupwise at work and they have rolled out "support" via Notifylink from Notify. Now, IT didn't go for the Notify-modified version of Touchdown that is a known-working solution for all Android phones (since it's a separate mail client). So I need to get the mail app on the EVO to work. Right now, it does an FC after any action - move to next message, close message, reply, etc.
So...IT has gotten Notifylink to work with the app in the Droid.
Is the Droid mail app literally the stock mail app?
I can't quite seem to confirm this - can I install just the available mail.apk versions out there, without doing a full ROM install? Everyone does full custom ROMs, it seems, so I'd like to try just replacing the mail app if possible.
And on a long shot: has anyone tried this, notifylink connecting to the EVO and actually working?
I think I've read enough to try installing the stock app that others have put out there. I think I've read enough to get the Sense app back in there if I have to. But I thought I'd ask.
Hey you guys!
Ik hope this is the right topic to post in, since it's about an app, but about the DHD as well.
For about a week now whatsapp wont push my messages forward to a notification.
When i recieve a message i will only get notified when i open up the whatsapp main screen (like it has to load the new messages instead of pushing it right away). This ofcourse takes all the functionality out of the app!
Anyone here got the same problem? my buddies (none of them on DHD) have no problems what so ever, except when they try to reach me. Altough, 1 friend of mine has the exact same problem (running DHD ROM on HD2) another friend of mine (with the exact same software setup on HD2 as well) has no problems.
Also, htcsense.com can no longer reach my phone to ring or block the device.
-stock DHD on 2.3
-most recent version of whatsapp
-doesnt matter if 3g or Wifi
-tried reinstalling the program
-htcsense.com apparantly "Can't connect to phone"
any you guys have suggestions?
You aren't running a task manager app are you?, in my experience HTCsense.com would work intermittently at best anyway, but no problems with Whattsapp notifications here but I am running CM7
yes im running SystemPanel 1.0.9.
But im using this task manager for months now and until now there were no problems at all, the task assigned to whatsapp is excluded from the kill list

TASK MANAGERS ARE EVIL REMOVE IT NOW AND YOUR LIFE WILL BE BETTER, don't just take my word for it try some of these sources for size Phandroid, Androidspin, Infoworld, Lifehacker and Androinica. As Cyanogen himself says remove your task manager and reproduce the bug and we'll see what we can do.
Got the same problem with htcsense. Can't lock or locate my phone or let it ring. No problems with whatsapp, thats working fine. Also on a stockrom 2.3.3 on a Desire HD
Erik
I don't use htcsense.com, but I use SystemPanel (with Whatsapp excluded), and whatsapp works perfectly without exception: I receive audio notification when the phone is inactive, and the messages pop up in front of the lockscreen.
(stock rooted Froyo, eng & S-off)
I have heard a lot about htcsense.com, hence I don't use it... but Whatsapp is very stable for me. Could be a combination of ROM/other apps, but in principle I'd look at htcsense.com
I had these problems when I got my DHD. For me everything went fine after I:
-Created a new Sense Account
-Settings --> Location --> Tick Phonefinder and turn gps on
-Settings-->Accounts &b Sync --> Click on "HTC Sense" and Set the update schedule on "As items change (push)"
-In case its not there just try to download an additional wallpaper and log on with your sense account.
After that you go again to htcsense.com
Log in and then locate your phone.
Now you should see the GPS icon in your phones statusbar...
Now go outside an make sure you find GPS signal.
many thanks for the responses! I have found a few more things that could maybe help us crack this case.
When im in the whatsapp client, it shows the status of recepient (online, typing etc.) as "online" or "last seen at xx:xxu" in wich xx:xx is often after i sent the message.
In short: there is traffic going on between me, the server and the recepient even though messages i sent won't pop on their screens, and theirs not on mine.
(classic case of not enough internetz?)
Also, removing the task manager had no result!
I recently installed the energy rom on my evo (the version dated from 23Nov). When I go into the "customize quick settings" menu (under energy tweaks->notification menu options), it gives an error message and goes back to the energy tweaks menu. Please see attached image. It basically closes unexpectedly and I never get to change any of the quick settings. I was wondering if this is a known issue or not? I did a search and found nothing on this forum (or google for that matter).
I also had problems with restoring my mail settings with titanium backup, but I would bet you guys tell me that is a non-related problem and go pick a fight with the tb guys. Basically, after restoring stored mails and mail settings, the mail application fails to load (closing unexpectedly), giving a similar error as the one from above. I had to basically just restore only bookmarks and sms/mms messages and redo the mail settings myself.
Can anyone help with this? Or maybe the developer of energy rom can fix this and implement in the next release.
I would have posted this in the energy rom thread, but there is this gay rule about needing 10 posts. So, I guess I will wait till I get 10 posts.

I had the same type of problem. (HTC process stopped.) I think it has something to to with the semitransparent drop downs. I had to put them back to the original settings, and it has been fine since. By the way, this is by far the best ROM that I have flashed.
My new galaxy nexus should be arriving soon but I was wondering if the following problem has been fixed. HTML formatted email, in my current ICS running device, do not show up correctly in the native email client(not the gmail app as I have to use exchange for my work). I always have to scroll to the right and down to view the whole thing. Is there an option to fit the entire email to the screen similar to how the ios mail app handles it? Thanks!
anyone?
Nope, not fixed. Stock 4.0.4 Nexus here, unrooted.
Still have to scroll to the right for some emails and yes, very annoying! This goes for gmail and the stock mail app.
The same applies for CM9 you would have to scroll down and right to centre page your mail, then again, I'm glad there's no lag in doing so unless your 3G takes an era to load.
Thanks folks! Any reason for why this is so difficult of an issue for google to fix. i used to have an old froyo device and thought this would have been fixed by now but guess not.
I recently rooted and am using the Clutch ROM which has been working great for the most part.
My issue is:
When I go to the 'messages' app, which still seems to be stock HTC, and type in the 'to:' field to select a name, no filtered contact list pops up so I have to click on the person icon and select a contact from the whole list
Notes:
I noticed that on my un-rooted phone, there were two message apps (or at least icons). Similarly, I had a Facebook app and a Facebook for HTC app which did completely different things (the facebook for htc app worked entirely on syncing the phone with contacts/calendars/etc...) and I thought that maybe the second message app somehow synced everything properly however I may be mistaken.
Does anyone know anything about this? I appreciate, in advance, any help from you guys.
Thanks,
Jon
