[Q] Can't downgrade from 2.36.4053.8 please help - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
First when i get my DHD it was with 1.72, froyo 2.2.1..
I used this tutorial to downgrade it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003 and it worked just fine I have froyo 2.2, 1.32
Then i used this tutorial to root and S-OFF http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841076 and everything went fine i have rooted froyo 2.2
Then i updated to the official 2.3.3 build (via the phone) which is 2.36.4053.8 and gingerbreak or any other method for root fails.
I want to go back to 1.32 with this tutorial again http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003 but every time fails when pushing the gingerbread app
Please help me to go back to 1.32 or to root 2.36.4053.8
this is the error:

I had the same error. Try deleting everything in /data/local/tmp (adb shell rm /data/local/tmp/*) and start over (re-push misc_version and gingerbreak). This is how I got it working.

Tnx this do the trick but now i have S-OFF device (checked through the bootloader) but when I update to 2.3.3 via the phone GingerBreak DOESN'T WORK... any way to root 2.3.3 stock rom on S-OFF device?

in adition...
at the top of the bootloader u only can see if u are eng-s-off not radio s-off

You can also see radio S-OFF, it is labeled SHIP S-OFF. That information gets overwritten when you get ENG S-OFF.

[Q] Issues with Gfree process

I posted this in the gfree thread, by my question has essentially been sitting there for over a week without any real answers. I ran through the gfree directions step-by-step in the wiki; I got an error after "./gfree -f" that the eMMC power cycle failed, so I figured I hadn't gone back far enough in radio versions (the guide/wiki said "Notice: gfree is known not to work for radio firmwares with higher versions then 26.03.02.xx"). I tried a few different radios, and I keep getting the following:
{

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

}
Any ideas?
Which version of gfree are you using?

I have tried both 1.02, and 1.04.
Been over a day, and onto second page. Bump!
The problem may be the kernel you are using. I can see from your screen shot that you're using a cyanogenmod kernel.
According to the gfree thread, gfree doesn't work well with alternate kernels, and they recommend that you flash back to a stock ROM (and kernel) before running the gfree process. See this comment and response here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855764&page=38 (Start with post 379).
Try flashing back to stock and running the gfree process. As long as you make a backup first (NANDroid is your friend), it should be fairly straightforward.
Well good, I was planning on doing a fully fresh re-install anyway. Thanks!
gfree 0.2 bypasses the eMMC power problem. So it should technically work fine with 0.2

any ideas where im going wrong?
You need to cd into the directory where you have your psneuter and etc files...
so cd then adb push etc?
will give it a go
thanks
woo-hoo i have temp-root, am i correct in saying i will have temp until i restart the phone - when i will have lost it?
Yes, restarting will remove a temp ROOT.
Follow this guide, from step 2. Make sure all your files are in the same place. This means when you open CMD prompt you must be in the right directory (C:\<location of files>\) when you run your ADB commands.
all seemed to be going well, got temp root, reloaded into bootloader pressed the power button, it appeared to be loading the new rom, but it didnt, im still on 1.72
cool, managed to downgrade to 1.34.405.5 just need to find the easiest way to root it is now
Use the guide i linked above, it was the easiest way for me to permanent root the phone. It uses psneuters, gfree and then root_psn. It will also give you clockworkmod 3.0.2.4
ok, i downgraded from 1.72 to 1.34, ive got perm. root and want to install a custom ROM, problem is clockwork wont backup my current (stock) ROM, it reboots and freezes at the white htc screen.
anyone shed any light on why i cant backup?

update it to 2.36.405.8 using an RUU, then use Gingerbreak to temp root.
http://driphter.com/index.php?topic=3867.0
Follow my steps, If updating to 2.36.405.8 using the RUU fails,
Download the Rom from http://www.multiupload.com/L9NQX31FSF
Place it on your goldcard's root directory, (overwriting the old one), Turn off Fast Boot in Settings > Power, then turn off the phone from the power menu. Boot to bootloader (Vol dwn + pwr) and let it load up the rom off the sd. Hopefully this update will take, if it does then you'll be able to go back to my method and start at step 2 following the gingerbreak path.
what about
build number 2.52.1010.2
android 2.3.3
do i use the same method or downgrade?

If you would have read the several dozen threads regarding this, or chose to use the search function at the top of the screen and searched you would know that there is not way at this time to downgrade or root 2.4x builds or 2.5x builds unless you have Radio S-off (not to be confused with ENG S-Off).

[Q] bricked desire with alpharev bootloader

Hi guys, I'd like to revive my old htc desire witch is stuck in some kind of bricked state.
I tried all the tools like alpharev and RUU but no mater what I try I cant seem to flash anything properly.
Desire used to work very well with s-off and alpharev partitions until I give to my dad that tried to change something about it -_-
When I boot it up I get this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
When plug it to my computer then unplug it I get this:
When I try to reflash a sense rom using RUU I get this error:
Thanks in advance guys, I'm almost desperate
Use bortak's troubleshooting guide stickied to the top of q&a
This problem has been asked and solved many times
Can't see the picture too clearly from my phone, I believe you are on a custom hboot so have to flash downgrader, then flash stock hboot before you flash ruu. The ruu won't fit inside a small system partition so it fails hence the error message

Thanks a lot. Indeed, I had to flash "Bravo Downgrader" from alpharev then use RUU.

[Q] Fully bricked usb - how to s-off?

I am trying to resuscitate an old HTC Desire. Here is where it stands now:
Bravo PVT3 Ship S-on
hboot 0.83.0001
Radio 5.17.05.23
CM10.1 VJ Jelly Bean 4.2.2 v6.3 (which works perfectly- I also have adb over network activated, and it says: 192.168.1.111:5555)
USB is fully bricked - I can't charge it anymore via the usb-port (but I have a recharger); and also can't get usb-access - and I've tried everything that has been suggested here and elsewhere to unbrick it, but it really is dead)
Can somebody please tell me how I can get adb-over-network to work and whether I could get S-OFF that way? When I try connecting, I CAN ping the phone, but I seem unable to connect, as shown here

I have tried with 30' inrtervals, but it never connects. If anybody could point me in the right direction, I would be extremely grateful. Thanks!

Just documenting my own process. I created a goldcard and was able to get back to running an official 2.1 Éclair ROM with PB99IMG.zip. So I now have the following:
SO I guess next step would normally be to upgrade the RUU (e.g. to the 2.2 Froyo RUU), but all the instructions I find use usb. So I'm trying to figure this one out now - still VERY open to any suggestions.
I got there too. Following the instructions in the troubleshooting guide, I was able to get completely back to stock and to re-root again (with the help of Visionary and su). But the the guide recommends to also S-OFF. But I see no section on how to s-off without usb (like the section on root without usb). Could somebody please put me on the right track? Much appreciated.
