NO 3G or data at all after profile update/corruption??? I was running fine this morning, I received a picture message and my 3G completely stopped working. I can not text/dial out or make calls at all. I get a message about not being able to dial this number. Not even Sprint customer service. I am not being directed to anyone, just hangs up. I was running Mik4.6, AmonRA... unrevoked3 root. I have unrooted and flashed my stock ROM - NO JOY. Suggestions please.
If you had not unrooted, I would have suggested you reflash your baseband, PRI, & NV. Now that you're rooted, try flashing the latest RUU that has the radio updates included, if you haven't already. You can download it or any other RUU for the EVO HERE.

Turns out Sprint made a mistake with my bill. Weird that I couldn't call *3 or *7 for customer service...
Thanks anyway D...
My mad dash to unroot was completely unecessary. I did get a free 8GB SD card out of the deal. When my card died I never bothered to complain but they gave me a new one at the Sprint store.

I have a post or two regarding my errors with having my evo metro flashed...
Although it was metro flashed successfully, my rooting wasn't which caused hell for me and the evo. (2nd time was a charm...or so I thought). While stock rom and internet worked, my actual phone service didn't. Then, no service at all.
Today, I tried to have metro pcs re-metro flash the evo and they couldn't, saying that their computer wasn't picking up the evo. The metro said that they had a rep from their flash service company trying and it didn't read.
At the time they were trying to reflash, I had metrodroid 2.0 (rooted) on the evo.
After that visit, I have gone back to the sprint stock rom (10-2010) and stock prl.
1) Do I need to get the cdma workshop settings reversed to reflect sprint?
2) Does being rooted prevent or have anything to do with the metro flash? My number and "metro pcs" show up in the phone settings...but not working.
3) Should I de-root then have them re-flash again?
thanks
I don't have any personal experience with this issue, but I think unrooting and then re-flashing may solve it, as certain files, ect get bypassed/overwritten with rooting, not to include any additional mods you made.
Right now I do not have any sprint service... I have WIFI for Vo-IP, Data, I actually get picture mail from sprint since its tied to my google voice account so it comes from my sprint number but i cant reply back on the sprint number or i'll get a error message.
but to sum it up, they said I can update to gingerbread manually by Menu> software update> htc update
but i want to know can i upgrade (like I said above) or receive the OTA even if my sprint service is shut off...
I don't see how you could without Sprint service, but that is not to say that you can't. If you're rooted, don't worry about. Just wait for the rooted OTA update.

You sure can, the updates come from "sprint" but are actually developed by the OEM. Of course you will have to do this over WIFI. If your rooted just what for a ROM made from the official build and flash it.
thank you both but at the moment I am not rooted... i chose not to root it at the moment... probably later in the future.

Personal choices are respected, but when you decide to root, go with unrevoked. Quick and painless. But I will say root BEFORE you do an OTA, as I would expect unrevoked to have to be updated to work with the new update.
Now that I am with AT&T, I have no use for my Evo. Well, a good friend at work dropped her evo and cracked the screen. Long story short, I gave her my old Rooted evo but we ran into a problem. When she went to have it activated on her account, they couldn't get a certain star code to work in order for her to either retrieve or enter some information. (IDK, I wasn't there). The rep on the phone said it was due to the fact that it was rooted with a "cooked" ROM. So, my first question is 1. Does anyone have or know of a rom that I can flash that wont cause this issue when she tries to activate it on her account again and 2, If not, does anyone have an RUU file with a shipped rom because all the links I have found no longer work. Thanks.
What ROM was on the phone?
You have to be running a Sense ROM in order to activate, use the dialer functions, update profile and PRL. Just flash a stock rooted ROM and it'll be fine. Here is a stock rooted ROM from Captain Throwback. It's based on the most recent software update.

Also, here are the RUU files for the EVO, should you decide to go that route, instead.

I downloaded Google Voice and used my Gmail account to sign up. After realizing that I didn't want it, I deactivated it from my Gmail and uninstalled it. Once this happened my phone wouldn't make/accept calls or texts. Sprint needs to send an update to my phone to activate the phone/text portion. Since Google Voice and Sprint are partners, Sprint passes the phone number to Google Voice, but when Google passes it back, Sprint needs to be able to "talk" to my phone. I called Sprint and they told me to run a simple update that would fix it (dialing ##72786#). It didn't work. I let them know I was rooted (the girl helping me was rooted too and was very cool) and she said I needed to find the ORIGINAL software. Once I did I would have to install, unroot, and then do the ##72786#. I found what I thought was the original software but it wasn't. A lot of the zip files are linked to a download site that has been shut down.
I installed the most original software I could find, unrooted, and cleared my counter with Triangle Away. The Sprint store politely told me to get lost. They could tell it wasn't original. I now have a tiny tablet that only works on wifi.
I need to know where I can find the original firmware from a working site that will let me do the Sprint manual updates. The version I have doesn't have the UPDATE PHONE option either.
Any help would be appreciated!

This is the closest to stock I could find, which wasn't close enough:
Android 4.1.1
Baseband Version L710VPBLJ7
Do you know which of the 16 GB I should try? The new M4 or the Old MB1?

It worked! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, I have a SG3 from net10 that uses sprint towers. only. sch-690l i believe. so i flashed a new rom to my phone, couldnt get data so I flashed back to recovery of stock. Then flashed back to new rom and flashed new modem because i read somewhere it would give me data. Then booted it up and no signal at all. Went back to restore stock and the same thing. PRL, profile wont update. ##72786# wont work.
I brought the phone to phone geeks to see if they could help, and was told that Sprint locked out my phone signal. Because they found something wrong and i guess happened to be looking at the time. I was told they are the only company that does this, but it is hard to find information about it. Is this true??
If so, can i replace the logic board? Does it change the serial number? Thanks!
