Someone on the forum had mentioned this company at some point so I figured I would check them out. I personally prefer the Silicon case - I just hate the lint! After looking through some information on the case I was able to dig up that these guys use a different material/process. Pretty impressive!
http://www.rearthusa.com/HTC-ThunderBolt_p_156.html
I purchased the Orange one on Monday - received it on Wednesday. The first thing I noticed was the feel of the case - it's different. It has a very unique feel to it. They use a surface etching feature that actually keeps all the lines of the device on the case. For instance, you can see a slight etching where the battery outline is, etc.
It's extremely thin - much thinner than even my Case-Mate "Barely There". All the cut outs fit like a glove. Some have complained the case may impact the proximity sensor (turns screen off when on the phone). I have not had that problem at all.
Colors! They have a color for everyone. Word of warning however, the colors are a few hue level's less than the pictures on the website. The orange I received was not as "bright" as the one shown in the image. I contacted customer support and they mentioned they will fix that and in return offered an exchange for a different color. I picked the lime green so we'll see!
Support was extremely quick to answer (less than 30 minutes usually). I'm hoping I can talk them into at least considering making a case for the HTC Extended battery. If I could find a thin case with some quality I might actually use my extended battery.
I'll post some pictures in a few minutes.
I highly recommend this case to anyone! They are very inexpensive and seem to be durable. I take my cases off 3-4 times a day and this hasn't shown any sign of wear or tear. Pick one up! $16.99 for the case and $3 or so for the 2-3 day USPS First Class Shipping. Other than Vajacases (EXPENSIVE - $85+) this is the best quality case I've owned. Pick one up!
As for the screen protectors they sale I will let you know next week. I purchased the case and 2 screen protectors for my iPod Touch last night.

Nice, Thanks. they look like the red label cases without the red label.
I have the mango and it's a really nice case, but I think it gets in the way of the light sensor sometimes, which I believe is right where the VZW logo is.
Case issue
I just received my case today. It is very nice and fits well. (Aqua Black)
There is one significant problem:
The proximity/light sensor is covered by part of the case. So when you are on a call and the phone is to your ear, the screen does not shut off.
Too bad, since the case is otherwise well crafted.

Works fine on my Aqua Black AND Red wine cases
Love the fit and finish. Doesn't collect lint either. I'm a little annoyed by the color. The orange is not quite the same hue that is in the pictures on the website. Otherwise, very nice.
Has anyone else had a problem with this case blocking the light sensor? This seems like a case I would want to get, but I don't want anything wrong with it. Thanks
I contacted Rearth and they are looking into it. I will report back when I hear something.
I don't understand how someone would not have a problem if the sensor is covered. Unless there are some covers made that don't have the sensor covered

Alrighty - I had some time today to write a brief review and post some pictures of the case. Check the OP
I just got my aqua black case yesterday and although a great case im not happy with the fit so far. There is a lot of slack and the sides and the back above the kickstand. I put the case on and have not taken it off. Will the case tighten up eventually? I was hoping for something a little more rigid... I'll give this case a few more days but it may be going back.
maybe its back tot he drawing board. any cases with a similar thickness that are tight and more rigid/firm/hard? I like the barely there case but want top and bottom coverage without the bulk...
Related
Today i received the case and again i want so share some thoughts about it.
(let me say it right here: this is the best case ive seen so far and i can recommend it to everyone that is searching for a very slim case with considerable protection)
ORDER
i ordered the case from Obostore. it took 7 days for shipping...quite good for free international shipping. they also give discount if you order several pieces.
MATERIAL
i expected some regular plastic case but actually it is something i would describe as rubberized plastic.
makes the phone definitively way less slippery.
as far as i can tell it doesn't attract dust.
FIT
it fits perfectly and the cutouts on the side are made well. the phone fits very tight and doesn't move in the case (like in the zenus skin air jacket i reviewed some pages ago)
PROTECTION
if you are searching for an everyday-protection against scratches and some little drops this case should be your choice.
as you can see on the pictures the top and bottom of the phone are not covered by the plastic.
but that doesn't bother me because (unlike the samsung mesh-case) it fully covers the corners of the phone.
so if it drops on flat ground it will be fully protected. (not from great hight of course)
quite hard to explain but i tried to show it to you in the pictures below.
i tilted the phone to 45° and then take a shot that is showing that there is still some space between phone and surface (light coming through).
the camera is also covered very good so no scratches should get on it.
SCREEN PROTECTOR
the case came with a free screen protector from nillkin. i don't have any reference but i think its pretty good.
(although i messed it up by having a little airbubble in the down right corner. my fault.... )
CONCLUSION
this is by far the best case i have seen or used so far.
sure there are some cases with better protection but in my opinion they often add too much bulk and mess with the great look an slimness of the phone.
so i can fully recommend this case to you!
(if you liked this review please show by hitting the thanks-button)
(and sorry again for the bad picture-quality )

I also have one, and am very happy with it, but they seem to have a minor design flaw.
Doesn't really affect the usability of the case, hell, I didn't even notice it until someone on another forum pointed it out, and I doubt I ever would have if they hadn't.
what flaw are you talking about?
(although it may be better if you never tell me )
1 of the sides did not flush well with the phone when facing up.
Looks like the cutting is slightly off will gradual abscess from top going to the bottom.
Its pretty obvious if u see it at an angle.
Only seems to be an issue with the black case
The white one I got seems to fit fine
Sorry, photos aren't very clear

I also have the one in OP but chose red instead of black. I have to say it's pretty awesome. The color looks classy and the case fits just fine.
I like the rubberized texture. Without it, I always felt like the phone was going to slip right off my hand. Now not so much. Plus it almost doesn't add any thickness (I'd say around 1.5 mm at most).
Very happy.
Be careful with unprotective cases, barely there cases and only rear protecting cases

Here it is the white one, after few weeks of usage.
h t t p://imgur.com/a/LnGKp - sorry i can't post links yet (new user)
I have the phone for 2 montsh now, but i have 2 other type of case and using a different one all the time. The first 2 week was fine, no coloration at all, but at the 3rd week the brown coloration happened, which was my pocket. And the funny part is, i am carrying it in my pocket for 40min each (work)day.
The way i imagine this case:
- hard plastic
- soft touch overlay
- some thin protecting layer
No coloration in the first few weeks, but after the ""protecting layer"" wear down, the case started picking up everything. I tried to clean it, no luck.
Lastly, i really don't know what are those pink spots, or where do they came from. (It's not the camera )
I've one of these cases too.
The first thing I did was to use my fingernail to scratch away the NILLKIN words. Took me just 2 min, and I had a perfectly blank back for the case.
How good it fits to the phone? Does this case scratch the phone?
Thanks!
I'm having some real trouble deciding on a case. I've never used a clip on hard case or any body glove thing for any previous phone cause some people said they damage the phone if it gets dust. I also feel a lot more safe with something covering the screen like with a flip top or a decent leather pouch.
I'm an IT tech and do mostly call out or field work so I'm not always in a hazard free office environment. Something can knock against my pocket or I'll be under a dirty desk etc.
I can fairly easily get hold of a casemate or an otterbox. is this and a screen guard enough or should I be thinking of a leather case? I can get a PDair flip style but not sure I like it from the pics I've seen. I really like the look of the zenus style ones I've seen in a few other threads. Only thing is something like that I need to order from oversea or eBay and will take a while to get to me (I'm in south Africa)
Am I just paranoid because of the screen being left bare ?

I had the barely there case on my previous Galaxy s and bought another for my s2. I only had it a day or two and thought it did not do enough to satisfy me that my phone would be protected. The corners are pretty exposed and the screen completely so.
I bought a flip over case from ebay, unable to do a link to it but if you search for
BLACK REAL LEATHER CASE FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY S 2 II i9100 on ebay it will hopefully show you the one i am talking about.
It is extremely low profile, does not add much bulk at all to your phone but i feel totally confident now with my phone when out and about. Feel as if it could survive a drop from a decent height easily. I preferred this case to others as it only has a small magnetic catch at the top holding it shut (effectively) rather than a big catch overlapping and catching when i put it in my pocket. I am sure there must be something similar, closer to home for you. Good luck.
I got a PDair flip-it leather case and i'm pretty cool with it. I also put a screen protector and ta da my phone seems pretty much safe. Since the phone is really thin, i'm more confident when holding the phone with this case and it feels like i'm holding my ex phone HTC Touch HD, acceptable thickness for me. I'll upload some pic as soon as i charge my Touch HD, don't have any other camera around right now

If you're planning on using a case that effectively doubles the size of your handset while making a call you might as well just get a DynaTAC.
Get a flip style case with express shipping.
Zenus has diary series too. Highly recommended.
i got the official samsung leather flip and its very good IMO it doesnt add to much bulk aswell
I thought a Flip Top Case will be a perfect one to protect the device and purchased one, pricey one I should say, but now, after a week, I am bored, this thing is a PITA. Receiving the Case Mate Tough on Monday, won't use the current one anymore, damn protection

I decided to give this a try after reading your post. The company here does not have the otterbox cases in stock yet. The Pdair one is almost half the price anyways. If I really dont like it or feel I need something else then i'll get the otterbox also.
I also ordered an SGP oleo screen protector from the SGP store. Will post some pics when I recieve the case. Should take about 10 days.
Thanks for the advice guys!
I've searched high and low for a case that suited me and my Note and eventually found a very nice case from Tridea on eBay. I received a couple of days ago and think that it looks and performs great. You can find it by searching on Tridea.Essentially it's a hard bumper in a nice sort of faux suede flip case. I went for the gray version.
It's a bit pricey at £25 and it took a couple of weeks to arrive from South Korea but I've yet to see a case that looks anywhere near as good for the money.
I just bought one too! It should arrive within a week, I got the same color as you did. I'm glad you like it, because it makes me more excited to get mine
I wanted this case more than most others but my number one issue with them all is that very few have a cut out for the ear piece!! not even a notch, i want my face oils off the screen and not have to hold the flap back on a call, simple design i would think, sigh.
I love this case, I bought the grey one as well. I do wish it had a hole for the speaker though.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Hmm, the front flap does fold round the back when using it to make calls and even gives a bit more of a better grip on the phone so I'm not that bothered about it not having a notch for the earpiece.
lamou1nr: As far as a hole for the speaker goes, it's got one but I guess you meant the same as Mrglass86.
I like the case because 1) it looks good 2) it's very light 3) it offers good bumper protection with the addition of a cover for the front that also keeps the screen clean. 4) it feels really nice and solid without adding a load of bulk to the phone.
I don't see the fascination with the aluminium bumpers. They don't look as though they'd offer any protection in a drop.
I like some of the Zenus cases (it was either the Tridea or the Zenus Capsule case) but they're expensive and the diary types just seem like a bit of a gimmick - would you really keep your cash and cards in the same case as your Note? Not me!
Until otterbox or a similar maker comes up with a really tough aluminium case I'm happy to stick with the Tridea.
If you fold it too often it will eventually get loose or have lines along the edge. Another issue with all such book-like case is that we cannot use our thumb to operate the phone anymore.

Just ordered it. I hope it'll arrive sooner than expected.

Wow I dont normally like flip cases but this one looks very nice. Not sure if i'll fork out for one as i've already got cases for it but can you guys post pictures when you get it, i'll get a better idea than from the ebay pics
Just thought I'd follow up on my OP. I've been using this case for almost a couple of months. The phone gets a lot of use by me and is constantly being taken in/out of my pockets. I'm happy to say that the case is holding up well. I think that the 'spine' of the cover would be the first part to go since it's the part that gets the most stress.
After two months the fabric along the spine has been smoothed but doesn't look bad, kind of what you'd expect really, it 'weathered'. There is some very thin rubber edging that runs along the edge of the whole case and this has initially split on the spine hinge area but it has only come off in one tiny section. It's hardly noticeable.
The main thing is that it's protected my Note very well. I don't expect a huge lifespan from it (at least the cover) but the bumper around the note will last. I may utilise a bit of gaffer tape to strengthen the spine and you could do this without spoiling the aesthetic if you do it properly. I may also use some rubber spray that I bought from Amazon which is really useful stuff (it coats whatever you spray in a matt rubber coating). One last thing to mention is that some people were bothered that you couldn't get to the volume controls while the case was shut, well you can press the rocker through the spine without any problem so you can use the volume control even with the Note in your pocket. I'll update this if I notice anything further degradation but all-in-all I like this cover a lot still.
My case has also held up reasonably well. It provides great protection. I too had the rubber on the edge ware off but only on the "hinge" of the cover. The only other part that is showing signs of age is the metallic plastic piece that is on the back, it has a few scuffs and a chip. For a flip case this is one of the best.
For the past six months, I've been searching and waiting for the perfect bumper and I think I've finally found it. The other bumpers like Draco and Tedoori have button cutouts that kill the symmetry of the phone's lines. Bumpers like Spigen are plastic and just look terrible.
The one made by Luardi is slim and has nice curves that won't kill the S3's nice curves. I have yet to see someone review it here so :I will post one when I get it.
What do you guys think?

Looks great, but way to expensive
Wouldn't exactly say that's anywhere near "Way too expensive". Considering other aluminum bumpers like the Draco Design's one is nearly double the price....
Actually, it's on sale on eBay and you can pick it up for $40. Still pricey but not bad. Hope it's worth it.
Does anyone know things will work with the metal back covers that are on Amazon , if so I'll buy one.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Metal backs will distort NFC but phone signal is not really affected that much unless your normal signal is bad to begin with.
Looks nice, if it didn't have the grip parts I might consider it.
Overall doesn't seem expensive IMHO
Anyone received theirs yet?

So how is it? Any pictures?
i'm curious, too. Thinking about possibly getting one of these, or Luardi's leather wallet case... i'd prefer staying with something that doesn't increase the bulk of the phone, but also curious about how installing the phone in Luardi's aluminum bumpers goes.
Just ordered mine
Ordered mine from ebag through Amazon for $37. First time it came the case did not look anything like the picture. It was probably a knockoff. Called Ebag and they assured me it was probably mis-packaged my employee so I'm ordering another one.
The attached picture shows the one they sent me. Just a case with a cut out for the buttons.
Pictures
After some crazy Fedex routing, I finally got my bumper. At first, I glance, I was disappointed, because I got the same case as previously mentioned from eBags via Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Luardi-Aluminum-Bumper-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B00ANWLUO0/). But then when I opened it up more, I realized that this was in fact the aluminum bumper, it just doesn't match the picture that Luardi / Amazon / eBags posted on their order page.
The case is more subdued than in the advertised pictures and the bumps along the size are less pronounced (I prefer that). The one thing they did design-wise was to make the top portion a thin plastic inset to hold the phone in the bumper. It seems to work, but makes the case feel cheaper. It could be that this design allows the bumper to be less bulky without additional securing closures. It looks pretty good, but it isn't as solid as I had hoped, it will creak and flex slightly when squeezed, particularly along the bottom where the plastic inset can be released.
I took some pictures and posted them on dropbox:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/agfy6zj9tk1prni/ceJKB08chh
Let me know if there are any other angles that you want me to take.
I am trying out the case to see whether I am going to keep it. I suspect that Amazon / eBags would still authorize the return since it clearly doesn't match what they are advertising.
Digging the finger grips
Looks cool. I wonder if it's equivalent to Draco bumpers
I wish they would have spent more money in the case instead of the box it came in. My thoughts after getting it.. The plastic is very flimsy and cheap and the fit is NOT snug. The case feels very slippery and loose like your either going to drop it because you cannot grip it or eventually it will slide out of the case. I'm very happy with the phone but the clear case is far from good.
My thoughts exactly for the Official OnePlus One Protective Case...which is the same as Clear Case.
See my post in the other topic.
Mine fits well but I completely agree about the not so sure grip of it.
I really love this clear case! Mine fits perfectly. No wiggle room at all. I guess I'm used to the grip as well.

I'm not a fan of the official case because it doesn't provide any protection, but I haven't experienced issues with the fit or cracking. I remember reading a post by an OPO rep on the OP forums in which he said that delays in restocking their cases were the result of further QC implementation. I'm not saying that's definitely the reason yours fell apart and mine didn't (in the two weeks I used it before receiving a Diztronic case), but I am saying that it might be.
Many other people have reported the same issue as you, so it's clear that it affected a number of people.
I own the orange official case because the clear wasn't available, so that might be a factor in which batches ours came from as well.
At this point, people shouldn't have to rely on the official cases now that the Diztronic and the Tudia are both available. Seidio is considering putting out cases for the OPO as well; you can request the Seidio case you'd prefer on their Product Request page.
I'm sure at some point in the near future we will have more choices on lots of covers. I hope we will see 3rd party custom style swap back covers too. I think I will hold off till then.
The official cases for the One look very similar to what Oppo was shipping for the Find 5's back when I got one. They also cracked at the corners and were flimsy as hell and overpriced. I'd say they just took what Oppo was doing and thought why fix what isn't broken (ie people buy them anyway)
Go with the Pelosi case. Can't go wrong with it.

I haven't noticed any indications of 'weak spots' in the polycarbonate (where it might break) and the case fits around my OnePlus One just fine, contrary to other's experiences with this case.
As for the feel of it: it's very smooth yet not slippery at all (again, contrary to other's findings).
As you can see, it is a bit scratched up because of it being moved around on a table and/or putting it in my bag, but I think that's okay. It kind of indicates it's being used and adds a bit of character.

Does it have a lip to raise the screen off a table etc? Like the diztronic?
It does, but it's not that large. Note that I also have a tempered glass screen protector installed so the glass actually sits on top now.
