Its been too long that the Wildfire wid froyo has not yet gained root access. I see forums n tweets frm all around saying the developers r working hard...likes of Alpharev, Unrevoked etc. R they really workin for the Wildfire root access??? If, then how much more we need to wait Guys any official news from the Devs??
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA Premium App
all from 1 day to 3 years, until we actually hear a date from them. No ETA as of now.
No, it`s a conspiracy.
Unfortunately, NO! ...unrevokered guys are geniuses, if they are really working on it, the froyo root would has been release for long time ago.

hi, can anyone port froyo to the desire but add sense on top until we wait for official ?
Read this to see what a lot of people will think of you:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713437
Oh, what an excellent idea. I cannot believe no one had thought of this before. I'll get right to work on this. I expect to have it finished on june 23 of the year 2102, so save the date.

haha wil do but just saying that if someone can until the update come
In case you missed it, that was intended to be dripping with sarcasm. We cannot do what you suggested

anyone know when 3UK might be releasing the 2.2 update as i have looked everywere and found nothing solid about a release date??
I read on another forum that rollout will be complete within two weeks, possibly hitting OTA servers from Monday. It sounds likely to be accurate, 3 cannot possibly drag it out any longer.

Hope it does as I've gone from a Samsung portal to desire and all on 2.1 n would really like to use 2.2 with out having to root

Right, can't post links yet. Google-three blog-tips to improve htc desire battery life-read comments
Most up-to-date source i've managed to find
I ended up debranding mine as I got sick of waiting for three to release update.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I was close to debranding too, but decided to wait, as I can't see what difference it will make for me. Apart from apps2sd I can't see what benefit I'll get from 2.2

My daughter smashed my g2 and I didn't have an upgrade but love HTC so I scooped this up. half the fun is modifying and this phone is causing withdrawal pangs. I guess we have to wait until the boatloader unlock is released on htcdev. com before we get any dev attention. The bloatware got to go!

It's just, no use atm changing ROM, cause stock ROM is great and work as good as the avalible costum ones.
More importantly, to increase internal space...

But how many of you are S-off?
there isn't enough people with the unlocked bootloader to warrant more devs to develop the phone.
Well, there is/will be another 10 at least that are S-OFF thanks to the beauty of the X-Clip bulk buy group! It's nowhere near enough to bump up the numbers for a good custom rom to be published though
Personally, I would love the MIUI ROM to make it onto the Wildfire S as they already support quite a few HTC phones it may just happen?
Can i install The MIUI rom in my ws?
Havre s-off
If yes, pls The link

MIUI never got ported for the original wildfire, Don't think they will do it for the S.
Best thing you can hope for is CM.
Have you spoken to the cyanogenmod people, they might be able to help you?

I would like to thank you for your effort in this forum. Hope the wildfireS scene can grow up.

I would help but currently my phone is being used for business, been applying for jobs so my mobile can ring any moment. Sorry I can't help because I would do everything I could to help push the Wildfire S scene.
Have you asked any of the other devs to see if they have encountered this?
Ah, well maybe you could pm the cm dev for buzz. I'm sure he would help out seeing as you are developing for the newer version.
I'm sure they can help. It's for the greater good haha.
hahaa yeah
I agree with you. I believe that what we actually need is a ROM as clean and as fast as possible.
No extra apps and bloatware preinstalled. Then everyone can install what they want!
And thank you for all your efforts and work alquez!
Check out the ROMS we have now!
*man, resurrecting threads is fun!*
No it's not, it's necro posting and absolutely the worst etiquette you could have on a forum. Your adding to the clutter...stop.

So I heard Desire is officialy dead. Is it really official or just a rumor?
I heard it was a zombie sucking out the brains of other "smartphones"...

If u mean about the official updates, that is possible, as gingerbread should be the final android version that htc gave us..maybe some minor security fix later eventually..but we will still have cm and miui that will give us the latest android version available of course
Well minor GB updates should be possible. I mean, it's not like complete overhaul like 2.2 -> 2.3 was.

i don't know about minor updates..because they didn't release the ota for all user (and they will not do that in future), its only an ruu for devs..
I doubt any updates will come our way. That would really be too much to ask. I think that Desire will be discontinued soon enough anyway.
When i wanted to buy my Desire, Vodafone Romania was out of stock. When asked when will a new shipment arrive, they've told me that the device is listed as End Of Life and no new ones will be brought. They have since removed it from their website/on-line market.
IMO, there will be no further updates for the Desire, either OTA or RUU.
Yea sad but true. A more than 1,5 year old phone is around EOL. Htc need their customers to move on to newer more profitable phones.
edit: also just checked. Almost any store i can think of have taken it off their product list.
Yep it has been discontinued.
Its on the HTC website. I doubt they would remove it off that.

I have also checked on several local stores near mhome, they do not provide any new Desire ...not anymore...
I guess this is it...
But how long the custom ROM will provide support/update to our Desire

I have saved lots of Roms, themes, Apks, Hboots and mods so whenever the Desire Devs move on I still have plenty to play with. Sometimes nostalgia is good.

and what u will do? play with old things?
no, the solution is cm and miui...they will give us the latest android version available untill the hardware can support it..so maybe more than 1 year at least (android 2.5?)
As long as the Nexus One gets new updates, be it Ice-Cream sandwhich or even the next Android iteration that comes after it, I'm sure the dev's will continue to cook us new roms up to a point where it is no longer possible.

There is no need to cook and porting when dev can build it from the source

Jelly bean custom ROMs are probably a month or 2 away, with an official release probably 3 or 4 months away.
Seeing as you asking on the HOX section of forums you're bound to get biased replies
Have to say I'm loving my HOX 100%, and would recommend it
Edit: when i say JB custom ROMs i mean sense based ones, there are already non sense based JB ROMs in original dev thread
Okey. I have got my hox now. And i would like to get jellybean without sense. Is there any good one like this that is stable.
Then i wonder if i use one of this roms, will i be getting updates automaticly.
Is it difficult to flash a new rom? I did it on my nexus.

Someone?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
The most stable roms without Sense are probably well-known CyanogenMod series:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786696
If you mean OTA updates (over-the-air), I know only one ROM for HOX with OTA updates, which is viperX by Team Venom (which is Sense based).
Flashing ROMs isn't difficult process, it's actually pretty simple, but you should first unlock your bootloader and install custom recovery (unless you're lucky owner of S-OFF HOX). There are plenty of guides out there, but easiest method (for me) is this All-in-one Toolkit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604439
Okey thanks for this information, very helpful. Most of all i would like to wait for htc to make a upgrade ota. But i dont whant to wait forever. When do you think this will come
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
OTA updates depends on many things. I get OTA update to Android 4.0.4 and Sense 4.1 in the beginning of August and I've seen lot of confused people; most of them thought only AT&T HOX get 4.0.4 update, because they didn't.
It's up to you, if you unlock and root your phone. Personally I like modding my phones and I'm also enjoying root access. My first impulse to unlock&root my phone was because of Lucky Patcher (because I'm cheap bastard and I don't want to buy expensive apps from Google Play  ) Now I don't regret I've done it, because of all that awesome things I can do with my HOX now. (like flashing custom ROMs/kernels, using apps with root access and overall I can customize lot of things which I couldn't without it.)
Okey i understand, but if you would say. When do you think htc will upgrade to 4.1 jelly bean on one x?
