[Q] question about sense 2.1 roms - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Been trying some Gingerbread with Sense 2.1 roms
Just wondering if its possible to disable the recent apps list in the notification area?
It kinda bugs me, its not very pretty, and holding the home button does this anyway.
I've tried to searching for this but cant find any info, maybe I'm the only one it bugs.
Also which png do I need to edit for the notification area background?
Not major issues just little things.

Is there any solution for the 720p camera problem on the Gingerbread ROMs? I have Class 4 microSD, and I'm S-OFF with CM7 Hboot. I hadupdated to the RCMix S 1.3.1 but I couldn't see any improvements.

thats not entirely true. espresso froyo is impossible as yet, but espresso with a2sd is absolutely possible, and its been done...Cr's OTA Mod has a2sd, im using it now and it works great. im sitting pretty at ~123mb free space...and honestly its not that slow or bloaty. my home screen is kinda slow loading every once in a while, but only cuz i have 5 screens with 7 or 8 Launch-X Pro Widgets spread between them. but before all the widgets it was hella snappy all the time.

that may be exactly what I am looking for...do you have a link to download or look at CR'S OTA MOD and I guess I need to be rooted to install this?

I mean to compine Froyo vanilla and Espresso is impossible...Why would I say espresso froyo is impossible...Cr's OTA is in the dev section, I use it and have 145 after flashing(be sure to wipe) .I dont use Apps2Sd cause I frequently remove my sdcard so it wouldnt make sense.

[Q] some questions for cm6 users...

hey guys.
i moved on to cm6 final last friday and i'm enjoying the rom.
however, there are a couple of things that are bothering me.
1) the images are way oversaturated. both in the contacts and in the gallery. the color needs to be toned down...is there a way to do that?
2) the thumbnails are HORRIBLE. i like my nice screen and when i call people have their picture show up nicely. in sense the picture would be clear and much bigger. here the picture is tiny and looks like the image was scaled down incorrectly - very jagged and ugly........is there a way to fix this?
3) is there a more sense-like dialer? i dont like the look of this one, yet i prefer it over Dialer One...i really liked the htc dialer
4) im not adjusting well to the vanilla lockscreen. is there an alternative lockscreen? i'm specially interested in a froyo-like clear lockscreen if possible.
any CM6 mods, apps or tricks i should know since i'm coming on to the game so late?
thanks!
Have you tried any sense roms with an AOSP look?

Really can't bring "sense" into CM6 ... however you can bring some aosp touches to "sense". There are several roms that might be what you're looking for, or you can add some of the apk's yourself for a more custom look.
1) Get the nightly. Has an improved camera.
2) Dunno about this, but opening a ticket in the issue tracker might get some answers.
3) Dialer One is the only thing I've found, which has worked quite well for me.
4) "Froyo-like"? You mean, Sense Froyo? Because this is 100% AOSP right here; it is the Froyo lockscreen... Sooo, dunno what you're looking for here. :/
For tricks, try out the Snap 7.6BFS kernel and play with SetCPU a bit. Might notice your battery life go significantly up.

i wanted to try the full aosp experience. and i like it. i just wish a couple of things could be changed. i dont understand why non-sense apps have to look so non-sense, if you get what i mean.

didnt get to. i have bugless beast on the phone when i bought it (used), then moved on to ava v7 i think, then omj v3.1 for a long time, then quickly ava v9 and that convinced me to take the plunge to cm6...and the way its running and the way i have it looking i think it fits me well.

I totally understand ... but aosp isn't for everyone. For me, it has a clean, basic, no frills look ... which I like. I actually prefer the aosp dialer, and especially the aosp browser. It's just that there are some non-negotiables, and one of them is the dialer. Sounds like you prefer the "Sense" look, so do a nand backup of CM6 and give a couple of the hybrids a try. TJohnson makes a particularly good one, along with Virus "Airbourne", and VaelPak. Whenever I need a "Sense" based rom, I use MikFroyo, which I have customized with aosp browser, music, launcher pro and a few other apps. Amikam is a very creative guy graphically.
edit: almost forgot, Frost rom by Barnacles ... also, quite good.

[Q] A few questions about this MIUI rom?

im a sense lover but i been looking around and it seems like MIUI roms have more speed than sense roms.
also i was looking at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915527 this rom in particular.
so my questions are...
1. is Miui roms faster than sense.
2. does this Miui rom have the weather animation like sense does when u turn your screen on.
3.is there a better Miui rom than this one. I've seen a few around but this one seems to have the most votes
4.what are the pros and cons between MIUI and Sense roms.

For the most part it is faster than most sense based ROMs out there.
There is no native weather animations, but you can accomplish this by purchasing Beautiful Widgets and selecting the option to have weather animation
There is only one version of MIUI ROM, and the link you posted is the 'official' EVO version
In my opinion there are a lot of Pros and only one Con - being there is no 4G for it....yet.
Here are my favorite things:
The lockscreen
the music app
the drop down notification - and the fact that it scrolls
the menu settings
the dialer
contacts mod
built in screen capture
file explore to connect to my CPU over WiFi
The folders
The way you can put widgets on the homescreens
etc, etc
Make a Nand of your current set up and give MIUI a whirl. After a few days if it isn't for you go back to what you had before - it's a win/win for you!
Let me know if you need any help!

I suggest just nand backup your current setup and flash it yourself. If you don't like it, just restore your previous setup.
Does anyone know how to keep the stock browser from going back to mobile web pages?
As for stock web staying off mobile. I have no clue. But I personally use skyfire 3.0 u can set it to 3 different sets. Desktop android and somethinf else I think. Found this program to be faster than anything else.
Also thank you for the tips. I will be sure to test it tonight. If I nand backup would it restore my apps and do I have to wipe before I do nand back up.
Is there certian kernal thats better for the miui or is the zen kernal that comes with it good?

The Nand will make a back up of your apps, it I'd like a snap shot in time. After you do the backup then you would want to wipe everything.
As far as the kernel the stock one ids good, but feel free to try any other ASOP kernel. The thread for MIUI has a lot of good advice.

ok cool, all sounds good and thank you. i will be testing is very shortly. just for some reason out of no where my download speed went down. i normally download anythign higher than 100mb in like 1-2mins. this is taking 30 mins.
Does anyone know if there is a new release for Miui that includes 4g now??
Please let me know.
Thanks

CM7 isn't ginger sense.
There isnt a solution to this yet..
People are working on it and im sure the relevant rom threads will
be updated once a fix is released
miui rom 2.3.3 has it
miui -IS NOT- sense
trackball to unlock is not working cause of sense ui, not gingerbread
Ok, then the person must have lied or gotten something wrong, someone in a thread said its already possible, you just had to look good enough to find it. Then i have to stay a while longer on froyo. Cant go without trackpadwake. Thx
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
You'll stay on Froyo because of trackpad wake ? You people crack me up. Menu wake does the same thing, if you manage to train your thumb to position itself 0.5cm to the left before pressing down.
i stay on froyo because of other things too.
My reflextsense is super stable and fast,i have trackballwake,no bugs.
Menuwake is ok but i just dont like it,and till now i dont see any features of gb-sense that are superior to froyo neither feature, speed or stability.
If i didnt knewit better i wouldnt realize its gb overall.
it just isnt worth the change yet

Don't some launchers have trackpad to wake?

TV Out Question

Hi there,
I was wondering if any ROMs disable the TV out function from the usb port. I couldn't seem to find any threads on this but I heard somewhere that some might not support that.
Just wanted to make sure and sorry if there is a thread on this already.. I may fail as searching.
I don't think any roms support TV out except for some froyo sense roms.

Thanks for the quick reply! Would anyone happen to know which ones? It seems Warm Z does. I am super new to this and was hoping I could use a Sense port for the horizontal home screens.
I guess I could always just load one up and try it..
skyraider does. I think all the froyo sense roms do.
I'm hoping when the GB OTA comes out that the non-sense roms will support this as well as 720p camera.

I've been searching through *all* the Incredible Gingerbread ROM's and none of them have the TV out application. Since most are based upon leaked ROM's, it appears that none of the leaks include the apk's required.
If you want TV out, you have to stick with Froyo for now until the official RUU or OTA come out with the TV out app.
