I tried to flash Redemption ROM 2.4 and Redemptive REVOlution 2.3, but they both freeze my recovery (AmonRa) and I have to pull the battery. When I boot my phone gets stuck at the splash screen. How can I flash these ROMs? I downloaded over 3 times.
Are you installing with rom manager? Full wipes?

Yesterday I installed a ROM for the first time. Today I would like to try a different Kernel. How do I just install JUST the kernel ?

Kernels are flashed same way you flashed the ROM. Put it on your SD card, boot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvix x2, and install from SD card.
will i have to install the rom also all over again ?
No. You wont have to reinstall the ROM.

perhaps this will be of help. this is for CM6, but the steps are the same for Sense ROMs.

So I have rooted but having issues flashing roms. I Have been able to flash to Sprint lovers using the PC36IMG on the root and holding Vol down then Power. But any other rom I have issues with.
I tried to load others via RomManager / Clockwork Mod. I have gotten as far as saying it was successful but it will not boot into the new rom.
Any suggestions?

Thanks... I tried but same result. It shows the rom installing in amon, then boots to the evo white screen... twice. Then back into recovery. I dont get it. I have full root and can load Sprint Lovers rom through Fastboot (pc36img). But roms wont boot successfully after installing through recovery. And I have tried multiple roms.
Flashed cm7 on bosses Inc and then gapps. Got the phone booted then went to file manager to move the radio to SD root then rebooted to hboot and it doesn't see the radio image which is named correctly.
So I can't flash the new radio but the phones ril is working so...
Next, the market will not open... just hangs at the white screen the shuts down and goes to the home screen

I'm having the same problem with Market right now. Just flashed CM7 7.0 final. Tried several other ROMs too. They're all doing the same thing.
Had the wrong gapps flashed lol. Funny thing is had a customer come in with a stock ally doing the same thing and a rooted d2 doing it too lol.
Still doesn't change the cackle I can't flash anything through hboot on this phone

I've tried 3 different GAPPS packages, plus Sense ROMs are doing it for me too.
Is your sdcard formatted to fat 32? Necessary to flash via hboot.
Ill have to check that, the one thing I forgot, what is it stock?

Before you install your ROM make sure you wipe everything. Make sure you format /system
Doing those 2 things will fix most people's problems.
Also CM7.0 is pretty buggy, I would suggest flashing RC1 or preferably one of the latest nightlies.

FAT, so if you didn't format it, that's your problem.

Okay, so the phone was running awesome. Then he went to hang up on a call and the phone rebooted. It went into a boot loop. So I restored stock nandroid. Then wiped and reinstalled cm7 and all was good. dropped back down to recovery and flashed gapps and the phone boot looped again... I'm baffled.
Running cm7
2.15.00.07.28
Stock kernel

When upgrading from nightly to nightly, I only do a dalvik wipe which can be done via RM. But when going from different roms, you need to do a full wipe, including system, which can only be done in recovery.
I don't know much about this stuff but what I have experienced is that rom manager sometimes doesn't fully wipe cache and dalvik cache and it makes my phone loop

Ended up downloading cm7.0.3 and a different gapps and all seems well except he is claiming to have SMS issues

I have a problem. I have backed up my rom using the clock works recovery and rom manager. I installed another rom, but when I am trying to restore my previous ROM, it wont restore because there is no md5 file. I have attached a screenshot of the files that are in the backup
All you needed to do was use 4ext recovery to back up and restore your rom. No need for Tom manager. Try installing your back up thru 4ext recovery. See if that works.

I'll try that. Thanks
I used CWMR and installed this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778190
When I power it on, it stays on a Boot Animation screen (a colorful X that glows) for an indefinite amount of time. I left it there for around an hour before giving up and restoring to my backup (rooted) Gingerbread.
Anyone know what might be my problem? Thanks.
P.S: I searched the thread, I couldn't find a solution to my problem.

For future people who may encounter this problem, it's always nice to say what you actually did to fix it.

I tried installing it again, this time wiping data, cache, and d.cache.
I think I missed data the first time.
