REGARDING WILDFIRE. Just switch off ur device. Hold volume down key and press the power button. Then u will see something.
--If u see the hboot 0.80.xxxx, then u can root the phone, dance with it, access root only apps, install custom roms. And optionally, if u have few extra dollars in ur pocket, u can also make it S-OFF, which no one recommends for u.
--If u see the hboot 1.01.xxxx with S-OFF, u can root ur phone and can do all the above mentioned things...(rare occasion when purchasing from others)...
--If u see the hboot 1.01.xxxx with S-ON, u can root ur phone only if u have few extra dollars in your pocket. Even that is not enough, an xtc clip owner should not be far away from u. Go to him with ur money and make ur device S-OFF. And u can also do the above mentioned things....S-OFF has additional advantages over rooting and i dont think u need to know about them now.

If as your name suggests you are in UAE, I know a guy in Deira who will S-OFF your phone for AED 60 (about 15 Euro).
It takes 5 minutes, and when it's done, the world is yours.
I did it last week end, and I have a brand new phone running Cy7 Gingerbread.

can you describe more on why you can't downgrade ?
here is the 100% successful method on how to downgrade to build 1.32 by jkoljo( so you can root )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
When I tried to downgrade before it went through all the processes and on the last one it failed due to it being locked to orange so if this works big thank you

ahh so i've just had a look at this, and its exactly the same post i read and tried... so im sorry but it doesnt work!
plus i can't make a goldcard just dont understand the step by step, anyone else out there who can help?
also made a slight mistake with my software version... its as follows
Android Vers... 2.2.1
Build Number 1.84.61.2 CL333804 Release Keys
Software 1.84.61.2
What have you tried so far, and where did it fail.
failed on the last test, because its locked to orange and they have their own os or sumit along those lines, but it was the last last thing that went tits up on the downgrade!

after trying the downgrade again, ive down everything it asks, im now on the bootloader screen and its come up CID incorrect Update Fail! press power to reboot
thats the part im stuck on, so either i need to unlock my phone... or try and find the 1.32 software that orange released part from that i have no idea what to do
Did you create a goldcard? If you successfully made a goldcard it wouldn't fail on the CID.
no i can't mate, i have no idea how to create one... ive tried to follow step by step guides and whatnot but i just can't get my head around it, its probably so easy i could do it blind but yeh im not that techi to work it out... would it help if i pay someone to unlock my phone? i seriously have no clue... i can jailbreak an iPhone with no issues whatsoever but thats a iPhone lol
Without a goldcard you can't downgrade. Unlocking will just remove the SIM lock, it won't root or otherwise modify you handset.
If your quick & install TeamViewer I can attempt to make a goldcard for you from your computer.
will do mate that would be awesome, ok where would i download teamveiwer?
scrap that ive downloaded it
Once you've installed it PM me the ID and 4 digit password.
ivve got that up and running
PM me the correct password, it should be 4 numbers
thanks everyone, and especially thanks to AndyHarney for creating my "goldcard" after many weeks of frustraition ive finally rooted that mofo lol, all tho now after all that ive forgotten what i was actually doing in the 1st place lol... i'm sure i wanted to put on Gingerbread or a custom rom
if anyone fancys giving me a hand with that i'd be seriously greatful lol
I personally use MrGaraks MIUI 1.41. Its iPhone-esque in appearance but it is essentially a very heavily skinned CyanogenMod 7. It gets better every week too as MIUI updates weekly on a Friday.
Your spoilt for choice really when it comes to ROMs.
So are you now rooted, with clockwork mod recovery?
Question:
I have rooted my Wildfire with unrEVOked, but security is still enabled (S-ON)... Why?
Rooting your phone with unrEVOked doesn't disable security.
-----
Question 2:
Can I change the splash screen on my Wildfire, without S-OFF?
No, unless proved otherwise.
Don't hesitate from contributing!
-----
A thread contatining all the information necessary to obtain S-OFF on your Wildfire has been linked below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
Keep in mind, this software is currently in the stages of beta testing, and has the ability to brick your phone, even after an official version is released, the same risks still apply.
!USE WITH CARE!
You need to find an XTC Clip hardware box and use it. That will enable S-OFF. No software only method yet.
UnrEVOked has made some software called UnrEVOKED Freedom for some phones which sets them to S-OFF but so far isn't available for Wildfire

Okay, thanks for the replies. I'll definitely keep an eye out for any method that only requires software.
AlphaRev is what you are looking for. But, no idea when it comes out. Probably never, but, don't know. Never felt the need (Not want) for S-OFF.
@3xeno,
yes I have heard of "AlphaRev", but seeing as though their solution to getting S-OFF on the wildfire is still in developement, I was wondering if there was any alternative.
Well, I suppose I'll have to wait. Not that I'm impatient...
Thanks for the response. I'll edit the thread post later to direct any newcomers to the right place.
You wont be able to remove the Telstra Splash Screen without S-OFF, sorry.
The boot animation can be changed, but, that plays after the splash if I recall correctly. There is a thread somewhere in General Forum only, where, other telstra users were discussing the same thing.
Yes, the boot animation appears after the initial splash screen. That's all I really have to say, and thanks for all the help.
I'll update this thread when, and if necessary.
(By the way, I did use the search function before I made this thread)
yes present version of alpha rev can make ur phone to s-off. u said that u r rooted. now u can use alpha rev to patch ur hboot to 1.01 patched and s-off. dont worry still it will be in rooted state. many people dont even know this process. only senior members and developers know this. i havent done this because im stuck on official froyo. u just watch the posts of senior membors and developers. in their posts u will see their phone details like "AlphaRev- HBOOT 1.01 S-OFF". that was a patched hboot and was made by alpharev, which is not known by many people yet. if u find anyone like that, ask them about the process.
regarding ur 2nd question, u can splash ur screen with custom picture. there are apps for that. just make a search

I said you can't use an APP to flash it. Apps and the OS in general cannot access mtdblock0 when turned on (maybe it's possible to mount it, but only with s-off and I wouldn't recommend it anyway). That's what fastboot is for.

The release date will be disclosed on the day of release. Your phone needs root to use it. It will not be compatible with any HBOOT >= 1.x. (Froyo ota update)

Hi everyone. First off, I saw the video before watching, I searched the forum, I tried google but I'm a complete noob and a lot of the things I've read don't make much sense to me or I'm not sure if my phone falls under 'rootable' or 'unrootable, needs xtc clip or w.e'
I have an HTC Wildfire S with Bell. I checked and it says "S-ON", its Android 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1 at first I was going to use this tutorial but I wasn't sure if my phone falls under that since it has "S-ON"
Also...lets suppose I can root it, how do I go about unrooting just in case I need to take it for warranty or something? (since I payed extra for that). I read something about EUU? But again, it didn't make much sense to me.
Sorry, I swear I searched hard to find an answer :S
You cannot root you phone if it's s on. Only way is to buy x clip which is almost the same price as of the phone :/
Thanks for the reply. Damn, I was hoping that wouldn't be the answer. Well that sucks, thanks anyways.
xtc clip is currently about 80% off at the moment on their website due to them discontinuing the PAYG clip....
For us in the UK, it means the XTC Clip is just shy of £40

Regis1,
from the moment you decide to start rooting, you loose your warranty. At the moment there's no way back from S-OFF to S-ON. Putting your phone in S-OFF (security flag OFF) is the same like removing the VOID sticker...
First think about why you wan't to root. Install unbranded ROM, another language, ...
If your phone is working like it should, I wouldn't root it...
IF you decide to root, you can try to follow this thread (if u have HBOOT 0.90.0000):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1142529
(HOWTO for creating a goldcard is in one of the reply's)
IF you have a newer HBOOT, 1.03.0000 like I had, you need to buy an XTC PayG clip. These cost around 30 euros on eBay. This will put your phone S-OFF and from then on you can flash a custom recovery or any Wildfire S ROM (with root access) you want.
PS: the thread you specified, is for a Wildfire, not he Wildfire S and doesn't work...
^^Thanks for the reply. Ya, I wanted to install some custom rom as my battery seems to die quickly and I was hoping I could install a rom (its called rom right? lol) that is good for battery life. Forget what it's called but seeing as how you're saying it automatically voids my warranty and there's no going back its really not worth the trouble. I'll just google some methods to save battery life and look at a thread I saw here. I do like my phone overall and have no problem with it, I just figured that if I can make it more customizable then why not. I kind of imagined it would be like jailbreaking an iPhone so I thought why not. Turns out I'm wrong.
@taffypride: Well that's about $60 for me which isn't worth it at the moment, just as I said. Thanks though.
I suppose I'll keep my phone the way it is for now. Thanks for all the replies.
HTC wouldn't care if it's S-off as some phones are shipped that way, the xtc clip is a one time purchase and will be updated to unlock newer phones within the future, also unrooting is very easy. All you have to do is install an RUU from your region or a WWE (World wide edition)
Well I bought extra warranty from the store I bought it from (bestbuy) so this isn't a manufacturer warranty. But both ways it seems like too much of a headache at the moment anyway. I'd rather wait until I've had the phone for a while and am bored with it. That would be a perfect time for rooting experiments
You will get bored quickly. After rooting it the possibility's are endless.
unroot htc wildfire s (s-on)
i have htc wildfire s (asia india version,build:2.13.720.1)
you can root your phone via unlocking your bootloader(s-on) and then use htc supertool.

Hi guys, I know there are a lot of posts about this , and thats the reason I write new one. I read them all, not only from this forum but from few more in the internet. What I need to know is - what is the safest and easiest ( I know its not easy ) way to downgrade my DHD with 3.12.405.1 software version to convinient one , so I can S-off, root and change my rom. I read about a lot of tools , 2-3 ways of doing it , but because of different problems like broken links, lack of support on the posts I decided to ask for your help here . Whats the way to do this - using AAHC, using this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424023) made me confused what is this platform-tools directory and some other things in it. So , I am ready for giving you a few beers ( I am sure other people too) if you explain me which sites or ways are these what I (and other users) should use
Cmon , doesnt any1 did this in the near future and show me what he used , thats all I need, no explains no nothing ?
You should try the official bootloader unlock from HTCDev : http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader
Follow the instructions, unlock your bootloader. Then flash a custom recovery image like clockworkmod from Fastboot using "Fastboot flash recovery [recovery_image]" from command line.
Boot into bootloader by pressing the Vol down and Power button to get into the Bootloader and then select Recovery.
Install the zip of whatever ROM you want from the recovery then.

Use AAHK. In short, run once to downgrade and a second time to S-OFF, flash custom recovery and and root. Make sure you read the entire manual.
The HTCDEV method gives you fewer ROM options and adds an extra flash step. It also is detectable so you can't go back to undetectable unroot, making warranty unrecoverable.

If u simply want to change ur rom or just root it u can do it with a software called rootme.Google it n u will find it.i hv tested it on 3.12 version but doesnt work on 3.13 version.once rooted install rom manager app from the market and flash a recovery within the app. Thn reboot into recovery using the same app. Now install whtever zip format rom u want. But if u want s-off thn u need to downgrade coz non of the softwares support the current version. Download a ruu of the software version u want to downgrade to on your computer run it n ur phone will be flashed to that version thn u can use softwares like ATM or easy s-off by jyoko..
P.s u can fibd the ruu on goo.im or just google for thm but remember if ur phone came with a gingerbread on it flash it with a Gingerbread ruu but if it came it Froyo u can flash any RUU.

Actually , I think I am confused. All of you told me maybe 3-4 different ways. So I reconcidered what I need most and it is downgrade tool. The other things are easy for me. I just cant use lower version rom and start it because I cant find out if my phone was bought with froyo or GB. Thats my problem now - how to downgrade from 3.12.405.1 to rom that can be used for S-off , root and installing recovery :fingers-crossed: And at the end - I cant find a proper link to download Advanced Ace Hack Kit, the one from its site downloads the 96.8mb file and says :network error: .. wtf ?

There is only ONE way to hack your device. The Advanced Ace Hack Kit (http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?p=74) That will S-OFF and root your device in almost one step.
HTCDEV tools is useless and will not give you full control over your device, besides leaving traces of the unlock in case you need to revert back to stock for warranty purposes.
Use the Hack Kit and if needed use the guide in my signature to have more information. :good:

Yeah I run the AAHK but I got condused of so many menus there, I am afraid of bricking the device. Thats what I did - downloaded AAHK 12062012, extracted it, put the ROM file inside the folder in extracted files of AAHK. The I run it, input the password and its all connected. My phone is with fast boot of, debugging on and on charging only state . Whats the next I should do - there is nothing exactly shown. Should I press 1 and hack the device, should I use the downgrade to Froyo option .. I really got confused here. And I will tell you , I do not root or s-off or change recoverys, radios, kernels , roms for first time, I am flash junkie and this thing got me

I understand you mate, but I wanna change my ROM, so if I am gonna do it, I suppose I have to downgrade in order to S-off, root and install recovery . Am I right or its me that doesnt get it ? If you say to leave it with GB, so what option should I use in AAHK ?
The kit never downgrades you froyo. I think this is where you are confused. Downgrade doesn't mean froyo. It just means you will be on a older version.
Here's some info. When HTC released the sense 3.0 update(3.12.405) it patched up things so we cannot get root/soff etc. So the kit downgrades you back to sense 2.1 (2.50.405-this is still GB). Then you rerun to get soff.
You only need the 1 click option.

You have to do nothing but read the manual. Do not use any other RUU to downgrade but the ones included in the Hack Kit. It will detect your OS version and prompt you to downgrade if needed. Gizmoe is right, the Hack Kit does not use FROYO RUU's anymore since the bootloader issue was detected.
Just make sure that you follow all the instructions. If you get stuck visit the IRC channel and we will lend you a hand. :good:

Okay I found the last version of AAHK, but I got this problem with the driver I should install , I saw it was the right one but now it is with version 2.x.x.x , the one in the AAHK folder is 3.0.0.7 and I cant install it , some error ocurs and it wants to be repaired , can I use the one that windows instals itself - the 2.x.x.x version ?

You should not have issues with the drivers....are the same that HTC Sync installs...
Hello everybody, I'm new here. I have a really big problem with my HTC Wildfire. It's been taken off Vodafone network and I had some problems with it. I have it for two years now and I had problems with software generally. It bugs a lot, a lot of apps can't be used or are very slow and I decided to take it to put new software, because I didn't want to risk to screw something up by myself. The worker then told me that he can't install any other version of software except the stock version. Can you tell me what to do?

OK firstly do you mean network unlocked so that other Sim cards can work with it?
Secondly most repair places will only ever flash stock firmware. But here at xda developers we share the tools and knowledge to do it yourself first things first though. Can you pull the battery out of your wildfire. Place it back in, and then while holding down volume down, also hold power. You should be met with a white screen stating hboot: blablablabla ect. Can you post what hboot version you have, of it says s-on or s-off and also if the screen says buzz or Bee at the top. With that info I can help you place custom firmware on your htc wildfire

Yes, so that any other SIM card can work, but every time I power it up, first goes the HTC logo and then Vodafone logo turns up, with its apps like 360 shop and 360 updates.
It says:
HBOOT-1.01.0002
MICROP-0622
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_20aa
RADIO-3.35.20.10
Also, it says S-ON, and BUZZ on the top.
Thank you in advance for your help.

OK you have 2 options either you can look for a device called an xtc clip, in phone repair shops ect. This device will use hardware to s-off your phone and then you can run any ruu that you want. The ruu will give you a de-branded rom the free, software solution will require you to look for a tutorial this section to downgrade your hboot to 1.01.0001, once you have downgraded to that hboot you can follow the s-off thread by using revolutionary to remove the security. Once that is done you can add a custom recovery, and then flash a custom rom to your phone which will be de-branded, faster and have tweaks I suggest flashing rempuzzle.

Thanks for everything, and one more question.
Will the downgrading and installing custom rom harm my phone in any way like overheating, some things not working like camera or something like that? I would like to put cyanogen mod 7 on my wildfire and I need to know will everything work properly? Or do you have any advice on which rom is the best for the wildfire?

No no problems will occur.
You can flash cm7 without errors.
Thats what a recovery is for.
Welcome to development.

you should not run into any issues as long as you dont drastically overclock your custom kernel. then you could maybe damage the phone but its not likely. it wouold probably just boot loop. ie only get to the boot animation and just repeat constantly. some users have issues with gps when they jump to cyanogenmod 7 but its easily fixed and the vast majority of people dont get that issue. cyanogenmod 7 is very very stable for this device and i think is the best custom rom level as it is different, stable, fast and has had a lot of support over the years
You can look for a program called HTCsupertool.exe. It will root and S-OFF the phone for free (you might have an internet explorer window pop up just close it).
Thanks a lot everyone, I made it, it works on 2.3.7 now
Do you have any advice about what frequency should I put it on and what kind of governor should I use?
And are there any useful apps I could download now?
i would recommend the governor smartassv2 and the minimum freq. to the lowest and the maximum 748. Also tick the settings for reboot, or you will lose them.
With cm7 you don't really need apps to improve it, as cm7 has most of it in the settings.
Thanks guys, you saved my phone.
One more question, is there any way I can create the menu style like on Samsung devices? Instead of scrolling up and down, to scroll left and right, if you understand what am I trying to tell you.
