I think my Dinc is soft bricked. Whenever I turn it on it stays in boot screen and starts over every minute or so. unrEVOked rooted with S-OFF. ROM is SkyRaiders 4.0 (which I just tryed to flash over my 3.5 to work around this brick but it didnt work). Anyone have any idea's on if it is bricked or not? Please help, I don't want to go by a iFAIL. But I probably will switch to Dinc 2
can you get into recovery by way of hboot?
Yes it seems to have corrected itself. I'm going to see what the problem was.

Hi guys, need some help if possible.
My phone is stuck on the bootloader screen and the up and down buttons are not working so I can choose the option to reboot the phone.
1- I was running MIUI for a while now and I was just listening to Music and suddenly the phone just rebooted and got stuck on the bootloader screen, this is what I tried so far, any help will be appreciated.
2- I tried removing the battery and booting into recovery and the Up and Down button still don't work so I couldn't pick up the option to reboot phone.
3- I ran the PB31IMG Stock zip to go back to stock and after doing the update when is time for the phone to reboot, instead of rebooting it goes back to the bootloader.
Thanks in advance.
If anybody know the command for the SDK to reboot the phone, I think that'll help too.
If the +/- volume buttons don't work at all, I think you're screwed. I don't know of another way to navigate the fastboot screen
Do you have S-off?
Can you load an ruu thru the pc? Not sure if that will help or not.

Guys thanks, I took my phone to Verizon to get a replacement since the phone was Bricked but after I order my replacement the freaking phone turned on again, now I have a choice to make, keep my original phone or keep the Refurbished one they're sending me, thanks again.
I did have S-off.
Well most likely the one you got sent to you is an SLCD model, and you probably have an AMOLED. IMO I would keep the AMOLED, but i'm not sure that you can keep it. I think you have to send in your original.
And since you can turn it on, make sure to flash S-ON and flash it back to stock.

Thanks, I already flash the phone back to stock, I think the rep said I'll be getting the same phone with the AMOLED screen since that's what I got, we'll see when I get the phone tomorrow.
In the mean I'm gonna play with the original one, rooted again and see what happens after I install another Rom.
Ok I'm lost. I'm working today and my phone tries to reboot for no apparent reason and is put into a boot loop that I cannot get out of no matter what. In boot loader I have no recovery. Downloaded amon ra recovery's PC36IMG.zip. Booted into bootloader it said it updated the recovery but after I've rebooted I still have no recovery. I don't think this is very good.
Bootloader asked you to update and reboot and it went through completely?
Yeah, it said update was succesful. Thats why I'm so confused.
So when you go into recovery from the bootloader, do you see the triangle?
Nope just back to white screen boot loop. Trying to flash sprint lovers with the pcm36img over it maybe that will bring me back to stock rooted stat.
Edit: Back to white screen boot loop.
this same thing happened to me a week ago. were u running a cm7 rom?
yeah ex10 i was going to switch last night guess its too late
Damn I feel bad for you
I had that same problem when i first rooted and flashed my evo. I suddenly got into an infinite boot loop where i no longer had a recovery. Sorry man i had to take it to a sprint store after i tried flashing a different bootloader and then retry flashing a different recovery from clockwork to amon. and then even tried to flash the stock rom none work. if none of those work then you most likely is going to have to go to a sprint store.
Well, you could try running an RUU. This will leave you unrooted and completely stock so you will need to root again.
Here's a how-to over on Android Central.
http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-rooting-roms-hacks/19278-how-unroot-return-stock.html
when this happened to me last friday i looked around xda and i found a couple other people who had this problem as well. everyone i found (myself included) was running a cm7 rom. i still cannot get any farther than bootloader without a white screen loop. sprint sent me a replacement on warranty because i live too far from the sprint store for them to make me drive there but i have to send my old one back. its still s-off tho and even running the stock ruu does nothing to fix that. anyone know of how to get s-on without the ability to enter recovery or anything else? or a way to brick it completely so it wont boot to bootloader where they can see s-off?
Threw mine out of the window of my car and called sprint and told them I lost it. Cost me $100 to get a replacement and now I'm going to have to spend forever getting back to root and eng boot ect... sucks.
Has this only happened with the magnus cm7 or is the happening with the official cyanogen rc1 and nightlies? Because I'm really wanting to go to the CM7 nightlies but not if the chance this is going to happen again.

Does the bootloader let you run a PC36IMG.zip? If so, try running one (of a factory unrooted ROM), and when it goes to reboot and shows the green arrow facing down (if it gets that far) yank the battery at that point. I think that is when it's writing the radio image. If you can get it to that point, and then pull the battery, I'm pretty sure you'll have a brick. Aside from a battery pull during the radio flash, I'm not sure how to make a brick, without it being obvious of what you've done. You could rig your phone charger up to a 230 volt outlet from a drier or something, and plug it in. haha. maybe that would fry it, tell sprint you got a power surge when it was charging, and then it wouldnt turn on. (only 1/8 serious on that last part )

Happened to me with official cm7 rc1
Does the bootloader let you run a PC36IMG.zip?
yes, but it doesn't actually do anything. it will go thru the whole update process but still goes back to a white screen loop and no recovery. tried a battery pull during the radio update a couple hours ago (i thought the same thing) but it did nothing. i think its because its not actually doing anything when u run the pc36img other than going thru the motions on the screen.
maybe i can microwave it hahaha
edit: after a couple battery pulls during the radio update in the pc36img im using, it will no longer go thru the full radio update when running the zip so i definately screwed up the phone. it still gets to bootloader no problem tho so ive accomplished nothing.

Damn, so you can still see s off? I have no clue how to get it to s on then, or make it so you can't even get to the bootloader. Yea, if you microwaved it (haha) i'm sure it wouldnt ever turn on again. However, whoever looks at it would be able to tell that something went very, very wrong, and it wasn't the phone's fault. ha. Maybe it won't even matter that it's s off. I've heard of people having luck with sprint looking at a phone that is s off, but I've also heard the oppositte (more often).
i actually told the sprint tech on the phone that i had rooted it and he still warranty replaced mine. im just hoping they dont change their minds when they get it back and see s-off and try to charge me 500 bucks for my new one.
Wow. Yeah, if it won't even run a PC36.img from bootloader, you're kinda SOL. That's pretty much a last resort. Granted, you should try a few different img's (different d/l sources) before assuming it's screwed. Sometimes, you can get a bad download. I had a stock Evo that wouldn't go into recovery, so I flashed a RUU from bootloader, and everything was fine. Best of luck with your replacement though, brother.
well i have 14 more days before i have to send it back. there must be some way to get it to not turn on at all without physical damage, just gotta figure it out.
:'(
My Droid Incredible keeps turning off and on on the "HTC INCREDIBLE" screen.
I recently wrote all the NV_Items from a Sanyo Juno into the Droid Incredible (Curiosity kills the cat). Fortunately enough I backed up all the Droid's Previous NV_Items but I had no idea that this would affect the Incredible.
Is there anyway I could boot the Droid Into Modem Mode??
I cant boot into Clockworld Mod, I can only go into HBOOT.
Please any idea? I cant live without my DROID !!
one hour passed it stays doing that. HELP!!!!
Im like talking to myself here, but just to help out whoever comes through this, even though I am not done. I downgraded to 2.1 and 1.00 Radio using http://www.incredibleforum.com/foru...s/5723-how-get-back-complete-stock-s-off.html
but now the screen is completely black and I dont know what I am doing. I do know however the phone is on.
Any help would be appreciated
Wow, only an hour passed an no replies! You need to be more patient...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=969973
If you can still access HBOOT, then do option 2.
If you can't, try option 1 with the RUU executable through HTC Sync.
You don't need to do the S-ON / stock radio flash for either of these. Those are optional in this case.
it still didnt work :\
it got the screen back on though
i think I bricked it by copying the NV_Items
I managed to get it to connect to CDMA by pressing + Volume and Power and then installing the drivers. but it will not read the phone. I will try to re-write all the previous nv_items since re-installing the rom wont work
fixed it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1031752&highlight=.77+hboot
If you have SLCD Screen it doesnt matter install the Hboot (its inside the .zip file) and the screen will go black then you will need to do everything blindfolded .
I have a EVO 4G that I was recently flashing and wanting to also get rooted but I went wrong somewhere. It was 3am so I was shutting down to the next day. it ask if I wanted to save mode I went to hit no an hit yes.. Ever since it jus reboots"EVO 4G white screen, tried PC36IMG in zip, loaded but didnt work. The only RUU it let me do was 4.24 and installed fully but.. reboot still loops. Cant do recovery tool cause it doesnt see phone. So tell me.. Do I have a brick or is their hope?
As always thanks for you guys help!!
Are you s-off or s-on?
hboot? radio?
So i was running a miui rom and did a clean wipe to try and a new rom. I couldn't get past the boot screen of the rom so i figured it was just a bad download. so i went and unrooted the phone. i have Hboot .92 thew radio is 2.15.10.07.07. i have the phone to s-on. i downloaded and installed the stock verizon gingerbread rom by renaming it to th P whatever lol. the reboots gets to the incredible screen then goes the htc quetly brilliant screen then it does the droid sound and i get the red snapdragon logos. but when it get's to the droid eye after it circle goes back and forth once then freezes on the second one. it sits there for like 3 or 4 minutes and then it just reboots to the droid sound and snapdrogon screen then the droid eye and stops and just keeps repeating this. i am hoping someone on might have a cure for this. the only thing i can get into iss hboot. hoping it's not fried. thanks for your time. and sorry for the long post, just trying to be very detailed to get the right help.

Have you tried doing a factory reset from hboot, and then reflashing the ruu (PB31IMG.zip file) thru hboot again. Also why did you go s-on, just makes it way harder to reroot or fix issues like these? The only reason anyone should ever go s-on is if you need to return it to verizon under warranty.
the reason for s-on is because i was selling it and the new owner just wanted it stock. they know nothing about rooting or any of this kinda stuff. i do believe i tried the factory reset but i will give it a go again.
so i believe i have found the problem. and doing some research it's my own fault. i am still on the .07.07 radio baseband and i found out that i should have downgraded before getting s-on. now i don't know if i can fix this problem or did i just ruin my phone. hoping for some good news. thanks

Im pretty sure you have to downgrade the radio to get s-on. As in it wont work to get you s-on if your not on the right radio. Are you sure you didnt downgrade and doing the ruu just upgraded it again?
I would try doing the latest ruu.exe with a pc, instead of PB31IMG.zip.
i would love to but the pc will not read the phone because it just boot loops.

Try flashing the PB31IMG.zip ruu with fastboot. androidforums.com/incredible-all-things-root/487280-easier-way-flash-pb31img-files.html
do you happen to have a workable link for the adb and fastboot. the link on android forums is through megauploiad and is not a workable link.

Have you installed the phone drivers on your pc?
i have installed everything that i can to try and get this phone working. hboot comes comes up on the phone just fine and i can get to fastboot on the phone. when i go to recovery from fastboot it goes to the green triangle then it turns red. i do the volume and power to get to recovery but when it comes up i get a bunch of error messages. and am at a lost with this. all i know is i don't think it is bricked because i can get to hboot. when i try to install another pB file from hboot it either does not do anything or it tells me it failed because it was an older version. i am pretty sure it is a software problem i just can't figure it out.
