I've been using RLS 5 for a while now and I was wondering what the difference was between a regular reboot or a hot restart. I know that the hot restart seems to load the faster and saves a lot of time, obviously because it's not totally turning the phone all the way off. But part of me is wondering if this is bad for the phone.
Is it bad to do a hot restart or should I just do the normal reboot?

Hit thanks on accident. Have a freebie.
It has been reported that our Gallery app is buggy with the sensor usage. My suggestion to see if this is the root of the problem is to uninstall/freeze the Gallery app and try a different one. Some people have mentioned that just installing the 3D Gallery from the market doesn't have the issue like the stock one. Either way let us know if that helps.

I have the same problem, even after uninstalling the 3d gallery it still occurs. It usally keeps my phone awake 50% of the time. I have tried so many things to fix it, nothing helps.

Format your SD card, Odin, redownload the ROM and modem, install CWM3, reflash modem, reflash ROM.

Gallery sensor usage and System sensor usage are two different issues. I have noticed that "System" sensor usage is always around 50%, but it does not effect partial wake usage and does not cause excessive battery drain (at least on my Epic it doesn't).
I tried wiping and using odin to go back to stock but I will try again. This time im going to keep from putting anything back on my sd card. What I noticed was even when I did this the problem occurred on 2.1 stock as well.
While my sensor usage is up. My partial wake lock is usually 50% as well.

These are most likely useless metrics.
It is affecting battery though. I usally last 8 or 9 hours which is far less than I used to. My phone also will get very warm even if I'm not using it.

google is of no help in locating the app or service
Well I went back to stock then flashed back up ACS 1.1.0. I flashed genocide kernel as well. the battery isn't as bad and i resorted to using autokiller set to aggressive. Most of the time its fine but it still will go back to a 50% wakelock. when this happens usually under sensor usage android system is 50% or 100%. when its 100% my phone will get warm. The only time i noticed this really happening was sometime after i got a replacement phone. Do you think its hardware related. It doesn't make sense to me. This morning my first 10% of battery lasted about 3 hours then the wake lock kicked in and it started to drop very fast. I used to make 14 hours of heavy use with this phone.
Thank you for those that have been trying to help.
I think this is an ec05 thing. I never noticed out until ec05. What happens is, after talking on the phone for 30 minutes or so, if anything wakes the screen like another call or like today a low battery warning, the phone will freeze. Sometimes I can still talk and other times the call will drop.. I have noticed that sometimes when I hang up it will freeze and I will have to pull the battery and reboot. usually it is plugged into a charger, but also does this just by itself. It is not the wake from sleep thing, as I have had that and this is different.. Like the thing is getting to hot or something.. I am currently running a stock rooted only ec05. I have re ch lashed and all and I still have this problem here and there. It isn't every call and I can't reproduce it over and over.. Any ideas or things to try to narrow this down...
Thanks.
I've noticed this as well, both on bone stock, and on SRF 1.1.1.
Are your overclocked or undervolted? This could be causing funky cpu frequency jumps you otherwise normally don't see and causing your phone to freeze or even reboot.

Stock rooted phone with no modifications, no over or under.. Not sure what is going on..
Take that droid over to Mos Eisley and get the memory flushed.

Oh how I wish it was that easy!!
I am running SRF1.2 with the genocide 2.0 kernel and after about a minute of sitting with the screen off the phone screen just turns on. Rebooting seems to eliminate it for a bit but then it starts back up. How do I go about trying to find what app is causing this?
After a few reboots the epic seems to be cured of its wake issues.

I loaded it up and used it for about 3 mins or so (gpu force is on). I could feel the phone starting to get hot and about that time my screen went black (which has done this before) so I pulled the battery out which usually fixed previous issues. Well this time everything would boot up and once the launcher loaded my GPS icon appeared in the status bar and the device would crash and reboot again. After numerous battery pulls and booting into safe mode and everything else I could think of the problem never corrected, doing the same thing everytime. Eventually had to restore with factory image.
Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this? Also, it doesn't help that in new to android and was completely uneducated on a fix besides what I did and was a little turned off to the OS at that point.
On the other hand I love my Galaxy Nexus lol

i play around with it here & there but have never had that happen. also, i have gps/location turned off(always that way) so not sure if that has anything to do with it.
I'm playing around with it aswell and up to 30-40 min straight without it ever even getting tempered.. with gps location turned on and over wifi..

no issues here with earth over wifi. gps off. didn't get too hot either. also loaded faster and with less lag than my transformer.
I've also used it for more than 15 minutes without problems. It does heat up, but nowhere near the ungodly temperatures it reaches while playing games.
gps seems to heat up more when charging it seems. with any phone. but i wouldn't sweat it too much unless your phone is rebooting or melting.

I had a few freezes (mostly in google maps) but they were resolved with a battery pull. Your expereince could have been just very bad luck.
Try this App to check your phones hardware: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.into.stability&feature=order_history
I had no problem running it for 20 min, no errors occurred. Phone gets really warm to the right of the camera when the App is active, which is to be expected.
Both mine loaded fine.
anyone else have this happening and know a fix?
More info needed. Does it get hot while charging or tethering or just gets hot with normal use? Most I can say is try some different kernels.

it can be in my pocket screen off pocket protect mode on or can just be sitting on my counter ill grab it to make a call and its very warm. sometimes when charging but not often and battery drains real fast. i looked at bat stats and a media server or player dont remember which right now was using tons of time and it had to be in the background I could not find the app to stop or disable it.
