I've had my desire since launch and I still love it after a hole year, I've recently attended the London event for the new HTC sensation and thought it was really nice. I still have a year left on my contract but I won't upgrade... the point I'm trying to make is I've decided to root my phone simply for the fact that I can have custom Roms witch will allow me to unlock my phone using the home key rather then the power bottom on the top of phone which is rather annoying and also the new features witch will enhance the usability of my phone. By rooting my phone do I create a security issue which will leave my front door wide open for an attack..?
Any kind of help or suggestion would be much appreciated ..

There are only a couple of potential downsides to rooting - firstly you might stuff up your warranty if you have problems with your device (if you can't unroot before you take it for repair) and secondly you might 'brick' your phone during the rooting process if you don't follow the instructions. Both are pretty remote - though not impossible - possibilities, so the risks are very small.
I don't believe you leave yourself any more open from a security point of view by rooting.
If you do decide to root, take a look at the excellent guide in the Desire Development forum. Good luck.
no actually the opposite is true. I beleive the official desire version is still on 2.2
where as they released 2.2.1 and 2.2.2, all of which closed security holes.
by rooting and putting newer firmware on your phone, you actually have more secure software.
Well, your warranty is over.
Although we all know support is gone.
As with security, well, you're no more less now, than if you install a new ROM
New roms generally increase battery life. They also offer you more flexibility to install programs, overcalock the processor, etc. Allow for a different way for the phone to behave.
If you have a wild hair up your ars, I would do this.
1. Make a GOLD CARD. Although it is hit and miss with Desire's, I would do it with your SD, just to be safe.
2. Root your phone. Ok, lots of people use UNRevoked, butt,,, they have issues. There are other ways to Root a desire.
(do not use AlphaRev, unless you want to change the boot image (S-Off) Yeah, I'll get killed for this, but,.....
3. Then do a "backup" of your current system. Nandroid they call it. You can get ROM Manager from the Market, Flash to ClockworkRecovery.
4. GOto Bootloader, Wipe memories, GOto Advanced, and wipe Delvik. Then back a screen and flash your ROM. (Install from SD card). You might also want to download Gapps.zip. You can do that at the same time, after the ROM (need not wipe anything)
DO NOT use ROM Manager to flash the ROM. Power off, hold Vol- then press Power button, to go into the recovery menu.
Least that is the best I can say.

There are plenty of people around here that like to help, but asking to have the entire android guide spelled out for ya is a bit much. Go search and read up on what you can understand, then read a little further. When it starts to get confusing again, come back and ask a specific question or two. You will get a lot more help that way.
That s why I m asking! I did look it up, and it s confusing

You gotta look up the tutorials. Flashing means moving something to your SD card and installing it.
unrevoked is kinda advanced since ur brand new..search on youtube for how to root evo 4g
swyped htc supersonic
stay stock
Google the basics . Most people don't have time to explain everything to you. There is a lot to learn, and I would advise you to not mod your phone unless its something you like to do. Your home work too google.
What is : nand recovery, back up, restore
What is: flashing
What is: recovery
What is: sd card, what is stored on it
What is a : rom
What is a :kernel
How do I flash them?
Learn what a ".apk" file is
What two recoveries do you have to choose from?
What is root? And its history (where it came from)
What is "su command"
What is "s" off and "s" on
Like I said, if you don't like too do this stuff and aren't a geek like the rest of us then I wouldn't bother, it takes a lot of reading and learning, one thing we all have in common is we are all still learning.

Honestly, I would love to help, but you are asking too much. It takes weeks, months, even years to get fully acquainted with android and hacking it, especially if this is your first smartphone. If I were you, I would enjoy being stock for now. Once you figure out how to use either terminal or command prompt (Mac or pc, in that order) then maybe start making gradual changes. If you need ANY actual help, pm me as you would not be the first noob i helped. I consider it my duty (ha). Take developments from the experts, give info to the noobs. Really, get familiar with everything, look up some stuff, watch some videos, and if you still need any help, shoot me or another one of the experienced and helpful devs at the xda a pm (private message. Click their name and it will give you the option.) and you will be helped, I garuntee it.

Not picking on ya but you need to understand the basics on yor own because its likely your phone will get messed up if you dont, and you are the only one to blame if it does. Thays why its important to fully understand what you are doing, remember flashing anything to your phone WILL void the warrantee if you screw up so be carefull.

This is if the OP does NOT have Android v2.2.
OP - If you go this route you will need to downgrade in Regaw's 2.2 ROOT METHOD, but stop before using unRevoked.
I am in an overly good mood today so i will help out with some basic information
What is : nand recovery, back up, restore - A nand back up is basically a way to back up your phone its rom and settings. a nand restore uses the a nand back up you made to put your phone back to where is was when you made the nand back up (think about a restore point on a windows computer very similar concept).
What is: flashing - Flashing is the process used to install system files. this is usually done through a recovery which i will get into below. the reason it is called flashing and not installing is because it needs to be done through recovery and is a slightly different process but in more basic terms it is basically installing your rom or radio or other system critical pieces onto the phones internal memory.
What is: recovery - a recovery is basically a program that lets you access some advanced system features, these include nand back up and restore, wiping cache, data, and dalvik, and the ability to flash (install) certain files to your phone. to get into a recovery with your phone off hold volume down and the power button you will load to a white screen with several options (this is the hboot or bootloader) select recovery.
What is: sd card, what is stored on it - Out of the gate your sd card is set up as it should be. their are a few reason you might change this however with 2.2 it has become less of a need and i recommend just leaving it be. The main reason people configure there sdcards is to allow a script called apps2sd to work. what this does is it allows you to store all your apps on the sd card they are normally stored on the phones internal memory. Froyo or 2.2 (the android os version on your phone) has the ability to allow apps to move to your sd card through the settings. now this doesn't work for all apps as it has to be turned on by the app creator but many it will. Because of this i would leave your sdcard alone while you learn the ropes.
What is a : rom - a rom is basically the operating system of your phone. what a rom does is replace the default os with a custom one that has been tweaked or built by a developer. this is the piece of the phone you interact with.
What is a :kernel a kernel is basically the software that translates what you do in the rom to the hardware. think of it as the phones steering wheel. you let the phone to do this and the kernel interprets it so the hardware knows what to do,
How do I flash them? To flash files is relatively easy you place them on the root of your sd card (basically drag and rop onto the sd card but not in any folder). then you boot into the recovery. in the recovery you shoudl be able to find the options to wipe cache, wipe data/factory and wipe dalvik. you select each of these and then yuo select flash .zip from sd. next you scroll to the file you want to flash (the rom or kernel etc you want) and select it (normally power button) you should then flash the rom. once it is flashed select back until you see reboot phone and then reboot it and you should boot up with your new rom.
What is "s" off and "s" on - s on and s off is basically the way you can tell you are rooted in the bootloader (or hboot i talked about above) at the very top you should see one of these options. what these mean is whether your phone requires a signed file (s on) or whether it can flash unsigned files (s off). for now just consider a signed file as an official file with an unsigned file being unofficial or modded.
Now hopefully this explains a bit of the basics better and gives you enough information to better understand what is going on. My recommendation is to take the steps to root flash etc 1 at a time it is easy to read through all the instructions and go wow this is confusing. it really isnt as bad as it seems and as long as you follow each step you should be fine. just do exactly what each step tells you to do and dont worry about the next steps till you are there. you still have a lot to learn and the best way you can learn it is by searching the forums think of it as your library.
many people are glad to help however as you can see from some of the posts it is expected that you at least try to learn and research things for yourself. if you get stuck on something ask and you will normally get an answer just try remember if you cant take the time to search and research things you shouldn't expect others to take the time to help. i'm not saying you did i ma jsut giving advice for the future.
anyway best of luck and hopefully this will get you in the right direction.
NOTE: i have "dumbed" down some of the explanations to give the jiest of the idea with out getting to technical so for those that are more technical it is on purposse.
I am a US Cellular user, and I'm coming from a Samsung Acclaim, which had a very simple procedure for modifying it.
I had a official Samsung update tool, and several .tar files, that I could flash to get:
-Root kernel
-A more robust recovery console
-DEDOX Templates
-Modified Kernels (Tethering, etc)
and most importantly
-A complete factory image leaked from USCC
I could basically flash the updated recovery console, and then apply tars and zips and go nuts. And all was good, because I could apply the factory image to be 100% legit again.
I am going to be moving to a HTC Desire tomorow, and after looking over this forum for about 3 hours, I'm scared to death! It looks like HTC is alot more careful/paranoid~ No flash tool, no tar files, no source code, signed packages, RUU/MMS/RADIO and half a dozen other different things that I haven't deciphered yet!
What I need to know are just a few simple questions:
1) Is there a way to root and start doing some mods AND GET BACK to factory? If I can't get back to factory, I'm not going to touch a damn thing. (I think I read there are no USCC RUU files yet, whatever a RUU is lol)
2) Does the Desire suffer from the same internal memory problems that my Acclaim did? My Acclaim had 192MB of internal memory on a factory reset, and after Angry Birds, Facebook, Ebay, and half a dozen other apps, it gets down there pretty fast. From what I've read, it looks like the Desire is worse at 110! Since I don't want to root, rom, up to froyo, and app2sd without a restore plan, am I stuck until USCC releases 2.2 themselves?
3) Can I temp root? On my Acclaim, using the recovery console, I applied a rooted kernel, deleted some crap apps from /system/app, and then reapplied the stock kernel. Is that possible? Or am I gonna run into the same problem as question #1 where going back is impossible at this point because of some RUU issue.
Hey there!
Welcome to the world of HTC Desire (lol).
Anyway, I am going to try the best to answer your questions...
1) same as (3)?
2) Depends on how you manage it, but most of the time, the answer is a definite yes (sadly). And yes, you are stuck unless you have app2sd. You can use this to enable app2sd, but once again, no dice unless you are on 2.2.
3) Check out ""VISIONary" from the market. It's mainly for Desire HD or Z, but you should probably start reading about it here... It basically is a way to gain superuser rights for your current boot. Once you reboot, its gone. There's probably another alternative (saw something in the thread)
I think I was trying to cram too much into each idea. Sorry, let me clarify!
To clarify, USCC has not released a 2.2 update, their Desires have 2.1.
1) I have no problem learned the process, rooting, and installing roms on the phone, to get all the fun stuff I want. But in the case of a warranty issue, where I have to send it back, is there a way to flash a stock rom and undo all changes to a USCC Desire? Can I go back to stock?
2 & 3) Since USCC packed this phone so full of crap, with only the 110MB free on a fresh reset, I can't install the apps I want. I will look into the temp root solution you posted Eden, because if I can eliminate some system apps, and move some apps into that /system/app spot and out of /data, I might get enough wiggle room to get by.
I'll go all out and get a 16GB data partition with the Gingerbread launcher etc etc, but only if I can undo it all. That's my real concern.
Hello all - I have an Evo 4g on the Sprint network with a rooted 2.2 rom details are as follows:
Baseband 2.15.00.09.01
Build 3.29.651.5 CL252548 release-keys
PRI 1.77_003
PRL 60669
First and foremost, it was a pain in the ass to re-root my replacement Evo (first one had charging issues - new one had 2.2). I work in IT management and with Microsoft Enterprise technolgies so I don't care about geeking out my phone or dealing with technical **** that I already deal with all day.
Bottom line here, I get OTA notifications all the time - WiMAX performance sucks in North Dallas/Irving area in Texas. Battery life is crap. I also must completely reset the device to remove a Google Account that I made on a whim when I got the first phone so I can use a secondary account I created as primary which has my Google Voice (thanks for the simplicity here Google). My visual voicemail prompts me to update and refuses to function otherwise without the OTA. I would just use a stock ROM from Sprint but need root so I could install bootlegged apps from others, run my phone as an access point on demand and spam the individual not answering my texts with EliteBomb.
1. What apps and features can I update OTA (not the ROM I know about this and it's sucks should be three clicks and done - not type all this and recovery blah blah)? Can I update this visual voicemail and if not why?
2. There must be an easier way to quickly reflash any stock ROM of my choice, root it and get rid of that damn startup video that is so stupid. I don't want to spend more than one minute of my time dealing with this matter and just want to use a phone and get back to life (wish the Windows phone really did that). Is there an EXTREMELY FAST WAY TO ROOT ANY STOCK 2.2 PHONE and then do upgrades without repetition and if not why? Also, what is the fastest way to kill the startup video and sounds without geeking out here?
Whtas holding you back from flashing a custom rom? Its not hard, just find one you want. then connect your phone as a disk drive and on the screen that comes up ( its the root of your SD card ) drag and drop your file there. Then reboot in recovery ( hold VOL down and power ) and then on the screen that comes up select flash zip ( select your own ) and then find it and then your good to go.
RE
This is a good point and will be done from here out, however I am not inclined to work with custom ROM's as I do not know what modifications the developer has made to the privacy of the device. With client sensitve data (I do mean sensitive to a legal standpoint) I find it best to use a stock ROM and then root it.
In addition, I don't want to be bothered with boo-boos that exist with custom ROM's and compatibility with various apps, functions and features. Not that I don't admire many of the custom ROM's - they are simply not for businesses as ours which need the phone to make money.
All I care about is having a stock ROM with root and taking out things I don't want or care about such as the startup junk, HTC Sense (FriendStream and nonsense lol) and the evil limitations of running non-market apps.
HATS OFF TO THE AWESOME WORK OF CUSTOM ROM DEVELOPERS AS I AM ON XDA OF COURSE!
RE RE
So can I update the Sprint Voicemail feature? I really would like to use this feature!
Hi there,
So I might be posting this in the wrong place on the forums so sorry if it is! I am wanting to root my desire HD to get a ICS rom, but need to know a few things:
1. I am currently running Unbranded Gingerbread 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0, which root application would be best for me to use.
2. Can I switch back to the factory default rom easy, or do i need to do a reinstall of this from somewhere when I want to. I mean for example can i just backup the factory rom and restart the phone straight back into it without reinstalling.
3. Do I need to backup all files before I install a new rom.
4. Is there a high risk that my phone will stop working completely.
Like I said not sure if this is right place but i just want to find out some things before I root my phone and how would be best to do this. But this is an area I am interested in but want to know a few things so I don't damage my phone!
There is always the risk of bricking/softbricking your phone however slim the chances are. Before you do anything, reading is crucial. Once you are done, read it again and then some more.
The only sure method I know to root is using the ace hack kit (somebody please correct me-it seems I just misplaced the name). That manual was designed in such a way to make new users get acostumed to reading and finding out the answers by themselves. What you just asked has been answered multiple times and almost any other question you have will almost surely have already been answered. Hence, use the search feature.
Once you root your phone you will be S-OFF, your warranty will be voided. You can always revert it, something I have not ventured into, but it is there.
After you root, you ought to download rom manager, 4ext recovery, rom toolbox, thats up to you. 4ext is the prefference of most users here.
You can use any of those to make a backup of your current rom once you have rooted your cell.
Before installing the rom of your choice, read the thread. You should wipe your internal memory - aka, full wipe. You can do it manually through any of the programs mentioned above or search for a full wipe script in the forums.
After the full wipe, install (flash) the rom of your choice. First boot usually takes about five minutes for most roms - just an average. If it takes any longer you may have flashed a bad download or did something wrong. If this happens just erase everything from recovery (to enter recovery while the phone is off press down the volume button while holding the power button). You can also enter the recovery through those programs mentioned while running your cell, some roms have the option after pressing the power button and selecting reboot.
Most ICS roms are still in their beta phase - but thats mainly because there are a few minor bugs or because the videocamara doesn't work. Those issues will be corrected once htc releases ICS for the dhd, or someone manages to hack it.
Happy flashing, it's quite addictive.
Sent from a dream.
Hello all,
Introduction:
My name is Dev, and I have purchased a phone from Craigslist about a year ago. I used to use Windows Mobile phones. I had no problems with them. I have used the T-mobile MDA, Wing, and Touch Pro 2. They have been good phones for me, until recently. I have always wanted a faster phone and the Touch Pro 2 seemed to be quick enough for me. Nope. It slowed down just like the others. My brother is younger than me, and he has been attracted to the Android market since the T-mobile G1. I never got an opportunity to enter this operating system market. I am very tech savvy however, and it has merely been a case of me not wanting to "change." However, I am past that and I want to contribute to the Android community. My first Android phone is the T-mobile myTouch 3G Slide. (I like sliding phones in case you haven't noticed. I must have the physical keyboard. I text a lot.) I bought it used from Craigslist, and it seemed to work fine then. The previous owner was nice enough to clear all the data off of it, and give it to me fresh. I have been using it since.
Leading into my problem/question:
Lately, however, it has been slowing down too. I want to reset it to a clean slate. I know how to do it. It is in the menus. However, I do not like how this phone has been modified. Why would you modify a phone? I have never had to do this with my Windows phones. There has never been a need to flash any roms or anything. They had updates which were simple to use. Plug the USB into the computer and follow the simple steps. Make sure it doesn't shut off during flash. Simple. I've done this plenty of times with printers, motherboards, CD-ROMs, and all other flashable devices. I understand how big of a risk this is. If the flash doesn't complete (or is the wrong rom), then the device will not work again. Unless, you J-TAG the device and flash it again correctly. But, that requires a lot of work, and a wiring schematic to figure out where the J-TAG ports are. I have learned this information from back in the day when I used to do dish testing. You would flash roms to satellite TV boxes and experiment with new encryption technologies for satellite TV. That being said, I am terrified of flashing phones, because I would have no idea where to look for J-TAG ports for phones, if I mess something up. So, in conclusion, my experience in flashing has been for testing purposes only.
Problem/Question:
How do I figure out what the status of my phone is? It says Cyanogen Mod on start up. My brother tells me this is a very good rom. Who decided that though? Is it a bad idea to go back to stock T-mobile rom? I've always had this thought nagging me to try it and see why people go through all this headache of S-OFF and rooting phones. However, if I go back to the stock rom, will I be able to gain access to the phone's internal memory again? I don't like the idea of losing the S-OFF and rooting privileges the previous owner worked so hard to do. I would like to flash the latest T-mobile rom to the device, but how do I know if it will mess up everything and clash with some code leftover from the modified rom of Cyanogen Mod? Also, how do I backup all my stuff? I want to keep all my setting for the programs I have downloaded from the Google Market. I want to keep my contacts and notes. I want to keep my text messages and MMS messages. I am one of those idiots who keeps all his text messages and MMS messages archived. I go back through the messages from time to time for retrieval of important information I may have spoken about with someone in the past. I know this is a loaded post. I am sorry. If anyone is willing or able to help me, then please pick any point in this post and we'll go from there. This was just an outline of everything so you guys can help me find a starting point.
What I Know About the Phone:
T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide
Android 2.3.3
Baseband 47.63.35.21U_7.15.35.16
Kernel 2.6.32.17-cyanogenmod-g501281a [email protected] #1
CPU ARMv6-compatible process rev 5 (c6l)
Mod CyanogenMod-7.0.0-Slide
Build GRI40
I believe it is S-OFF and it is rooted. I would like a procedure to verify though. Please.
Memory Card:
Memory card has a lot of folders and stuff on it from which I have no idea. Some of it says nervous stuff like ".android_secure" "clockworkmod" "2111.zip" "signed_Froyo_Slide_Radio.zip" "gapps-gb-20110120-signed.zip" "update.zip" "update-cm-7.0.0-Slide-signed" and "Android" I like it when my memory card is clean with nothing but a few folders like "Pictures" "Videos" "Movies" "Data" "Programs" "Software" "Music" and other general stuff like that. I like this so I can use the memory card elsewhere and know where everything is. Basically, I want to know if I can delete everything without shooting myself in the foot. How do I find out what each .apk is for? Will a stock T-mobile rom come with all the stock backgrounds, contact pictures, and all the other stock goodies? I feel like some of those were on the SD card too.
Things I like:
Speed. I like things to be fast. Utilitarian. I don't want any fancy effects, typically. I like everything simple. For example, my desktops are all using the Classic Windows Theme, and all fade in / fade out have been disabled. I want my phone to be the same way. Nothing I don't need. Minimalistic. I don't like to keep many programs running at once. This was something I liked about the Windows phones. I could click in the upper right hand corner and it would present a list of running programs. I could close specific ones that I did not want to run in the background. Android doesn't seem to have a feature like this, but it does seem like they close if they are not being displayed on the screen.
WIFI
How do I fix the WIFI in this phone? It seems like the radio drivers are wrong are outdated. It keeps dropping the connection immediately after the phone connects to a wireless network. I noticed a thread, but I cannot post to it. I wanted to ask how I would apply this patch to my phone without having a rom or anything. I thought maybe I could boot the phone into the recovery mode, and install the radio drivers maybe? I don't know what I am doing though, and want some guidance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1177650
And, why does the GPS take so long to get a fix?
Moderators/Thanks
I am very sorry to anyone and everyone whom I may offend in this post. If all my questions are answered somewhere else, please direct me to the correct area. I have been searching and researching for so long and I don't seem to be getting anywhere. I gave up about two months ago, and now I am back again trying to fix this phone. Please do not be mad at me for pestering you guys with annoying questions from new users like me. I know you guys are tired of answering these questions over and over again. Please. Just give me a little guidance. Thank you so much for any and all help. I really truly appreciate this. Android seems to be a very good operating system, and I am looking forward to all your posts.
P.S.
Sorry about the length of this post. It is my first time.

Well, for starters, welcome to the myTouch 3G Slide fora, second, yes, your brother is right, you are running the best ROM available at the moment, but your running an older version of itif you like, i can link you to an updated version of the ROM or i can point you to the "Android Development" section of the forum for the myTouch Slide and you can pick one your self, if you need any help with your device, feel free to PM me or reply to this thread at any time, seeing as how iI am one of the last people who actually still support this device for ROMs, i would reccomend my "TeamFreedom LeWaOS" ROM, but im still working out some kinks in it, for now, i will give you the opportunity to update to the latest version of "CyanogenMOD 7.2":
Download the ROM (has fix for WiFi i believe): http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/RC/update-cm-7.2.0-RC2-espresso-signed.zip
Download for the latest 2.3.3 GAPPS: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
Also, here is how to FLASH these ROMs:
Pre-requsite: PLACE "update-cm-7.2.0-RC2-espresso-signed.zip" and "gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip" on the root of your sdcard
1: Hold the power button on your phone
2: Tap "Reboot"
3: Tap "Recovery"

Thank You
Thanks. I will try the new CyanogenMod rom.
Dealing with the performance of your phone, how many SMS/MMS msgs do you have currently? I noticed you said you dont like deleting them. Thing is, if you have a lot of msgs it can significantly impact your phones performance. Obviously it impacts the messaging app but in my experience it can affect the whole system. This may not be the case on CM ROMS but i have noticed it on stock. (i dont use CM much, prefer Sense).
Also u can try overclocking. I like NoFrills app from market. Its free and allows u to select your i/o scheduler and governor.
For backups, hands down Titanium Backup is the best if u ask me (and many others).
Hope this helps a little.

Update on CM7
Hey, guys.
So, I've updated to CM 7.2.0. Since then, I've been having problems with the touch screen and the phone app. If I use the directional pad, I can highlight the phone app, but when I click on it, it crashes. Also, the touch screen is unresponsive all the time. Sometimes, I will get lucky and when I reboot it, I will get access to the touch screen again. I am wondering if maybe I didn't update the drivers for the touch screen or the phone radio or something. I have a hunch that the phone app is crashing and lagging the whole system, so the touch screen isn't working because of that. When the touch screen does work, the phone app is also working. I am thinking of just flashing the phone with HTC's stock rom and then rooting and s-off it all over again, because I think the previous owner didn't do something right. I want to know if I can just flash the stock rom without any consequences. And, also will I be able to get it rooted and s-offed again? I'm hoping that by flashing the stock rom, I can test my touch screen and phone app with confidence. Maybe the phone app is sending commands for a newer firmware revision, and mine isn't updated to that version yet. Not sure how this works really. Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Suggestion. Re-flash the rom, but in recovery go into advanced, wipe dalvik cache. Hit back, now in mounts and storage. Wipe the following, boot, system, hit back wipe/factory reset, wipe cache. Flash rom, then gapps. Reboot. You should be good to go. Hope this helps.

Oh and to check for S-off reboot to bootloader when holding power, or while phone is off power on while holding vol down. Should say alfarev s-off or unlocked.

Ran into a wall
Alright, guys.
So, I ran into a wall. It is now completely unresponsive to the touch screen. I had recently flashed it, and I am trying to do what you had suggested, Dvarl. The problem is that I cannot touch the android logo so I can continue onto the Rom Manager where I can flash and reboot into recovery. If I try to go into the recovery by holding the down arrow and power button, then clicking on "Recovery," I get the red triangle logo. It has always been this way. Lastly, my phone is not s-offed. Thanks for helping me out with that. lol Any ideas on how to flash without the Rom Manager recovery flash?
Edit: I think I have found the problem. I think my digitizer is going out. I am going to maybe purchase a new one and see if it fixes the touching problem. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for all your help thus far!
