Is there a simple way to update from 2.1 to 2.2.x, blurless?
Could someone make a simple guide?
I have rootet, made backup with Defy Recovery System, downloaded S.Froyo_Nordic_Edition.zip and 3.4.2-177fixed.sbf
Try using this rom (barebones 1.5):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=977989
I have installed it yesterday following the instructions its creator put in his post, everything worked fine, and it is a very nice rom.
From where you are:
1/ U need to download and install RSD lite and ur phone drivers on your PC
2/ put the barebones zip on your sd card
3/ pur the Nordic froyo nand folder (unzipped) on your sd in the folder /clockworkmod/backup/
4/ download and flash The Korean sbf file, 3.4.2_74-Stock.KR_BLUR.sbf with RSD lite
5/ follow fritolays instructions

Did you leave the rom in a zip file?
i tried downloading it on my mac and transferring it over and from my phone and the files download in a folder containing seperate folders. but when i download it says zip though
should be 1 file 'whateverROMname.zip' and it needs to be in root (not in sub folder) of sd card.
its on the root im compressing the files into zips now then ima see if it works

Why are you zipping? the file you downloaded should be in .zip formant already. Just drag and drop that .zip file on your card.
Try rom manager from the market, it works great, it has some updated roms pre installed or you can download to sd card, very simple to use, for a noob like me.
when i downloaded it it wasnt it was in folders. ok i just went through the steps then after backing up and everything it took me to the recovery screen i selected reboot device and it brought my **** back to the standard rom wtf
Here is how i do it.
1. Download Rom (the zipped file)
2. Put on SD card
3. Reboot into Recovery
4. Install zip from sd card option
5 Choose zip from sd card
6.Choose the zip file you put on sd card in step 2
5. Reboot
Lmk if this helps
I have a rooted Desire Now
Unrevoked 3.32

First i have to run
update.zip file
when i run update.zip file

Why you want to flash update.zip for custom rom... you just have to install from sd and select your rom.. make sure u take a backup
Hi All,
I came to know that both these files are not there together for those wanting to unbrick their Droid Pro after flashing the SBF file. I have copied these files from the sd card root/cache folder while updating to 3.8.7 after I bricked my phone while flashing CM7.
All you need to do is rename these as update.zip and flash it in stock recovery. But do it in the same order. First flash 2.26 file and then 3.8.7 file.

Could you please provide a mirror for these files? megaupload is dead.

Hi folks,
Been trying for a few days to flash a rom onto my GT-i8160P with no success, every time I do, errors come up and the installation aborts.
I've got a rooted GT-i8160P unlocked to any network with jellybean on it, temporary cwm. been trying to flash [4.3.1][TeamCanjica] CyanogenMod 10.2
is there any special way or something I must do specifically.. I have tried to add the tee folder to the rom as said on a tut around here and it doesn't work for me..
Much appreciate your help!

Edit updater script inside zip package. Delete assert lines...
Sent from my GT-I8160
This was the last clue I needed to get CM10.2 up and running in my 8160P :victory:
Thank you so much
To install on I8160P must make changes to file system/build.prop and change ro.product.device = GT-I8160P to GT-I8160 then save and reboot.
install custom rom gt-i8160P
What changes are needed in order to install custom rom gt-gt-i8160 in I8160P. please do tutorial. thaks
You need Root and File manager (Total Commander).
1) Open File manager and go to folder SYSTEM and in the folder SYSTEM open/edit build.prop file.
2) In file build.prop you must find ro.product.device = GT-I8160P and replace GT-I8160P for GT-I8160
3) Save, reboot your phone and try install CM 10.2
No more error Installation aborted.

ok, let's see; following are basically the steps I followed to install custom rom for GT-I8160 into a GT-I8160P. In my case it was the [ROM][4.3.1][TeamCanjica] CyanogenMod 10.2:
1.- Get the custom ROM.
2.- Get the /system/lib/tee folder contents from your GT-I8160P JB installation (from stock rom). You may need root access, although in my case I could simply move trough the hidden directories and copy the folder to my sd card.
3.- Swap the /system/lib/tee folder, and put what you got from step 2, into the zip file of step 1, same place, same everything. You may very well dispose the original /system/lib/tee folder in the zip file.
4.- Change /system/build.prop and introduce a P in every GT-I8160 entry (from GT-I8160 to GT-I8160P).
5.- (tricky one) look for the updater script file within the custom ROM zip file, and delete the first complete entry of the assert command (you shall see some GT-I8160 there).
6.- If you dont already have CWM, get yourself one (I used this one [JB] CWM Recovery 6).
7.- Put both zip files into your sd card; get a copy also of gapps in case you're interested in.
8.- Back up all your data.
9.- Swicht off your phone and restart in recovery mode (up volume, home and power buttons pressed simultaneously).
10.- Load from the external sd card the CWM zip file.
11.- Wipe data/factory reset; wipe cache partition; and wipe dalvik cache (under advance options).
12.- Install from external sd card: a) custom CM rom; and b) gapps if you're for it.
13.- Restart.
14.- You shall be done!!!
Hope this really helps you.
Success
I was succesfull with a hint of the post #5 of Warpyzda.
Thanks a lot!!!
I recently tried a tethering hack I found on here after installing the Android 4.3 OTA update. The thread can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732262&page=11. The specific hack I used was from user BlvJohn. He created a flashable zip file and I flashed it and afterwards my phone failed to boot. My phone is rooted and running TWRP recovery (latest version).
Steps I completed:
1. downloaded zip file to flash to desktop computer
2. made a copy of the file and renamed it to org_no_tether.zip
3. opened org_no_tether.zip so I could delete the new framework-res.apk file
4. copied my phone's current framework-res.apk file to the org_no_tether directory I created when unzipping file using droid explorer to access file
5. rezipped org_no_tether directory to org_no_tether.zip
6. placed both files on my external sd card
7. flashed
When I rebooted it just hung during the AT&T boot animation sequence. I tried wiping the cache, user data, dalvik cache, etc...to try and get it to boot to no avail. I ended up just having to reinstall the ROM using a zip file I found on these forums and everything runs great now. The file I used to reinstall the ROM via recovery was loserskaters found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47816011&postcount=18http://. Everything works great now but I'd still like to get the tethering hack.
In the instructions it said to copy the file to the external sd card so that's what I did, but what I'm wondering is if I was supposed to copy it to my sdcard instead where I place all other files to be flashed? I just wanted to be sure I didn't do something else wrong before I go through this process again and end up having the same result.
Thanks a lot for any help!
