sdcard umounting during installion of apps - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Android Development

Hi, I have tried various builds such as valentine 1.01 but have noticed that during installation of certain apps (I think ones that try to install themselves to the card) the card gets umounted and the installation fails.
I tried versions with android 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 but same problem, with Scoot CyanogenMod 6.1.2 build I didnt have this problem but system was much slower than other builds and after a few days it seemed to crash alot.
Any ideas how to fix my problem?
Thanks

Some builds seem to allow installation of apps to SD Cards, while others (mostly older builds) have trouble with the task.
Look up builds by clemsyn, and aceyome(spl?) As their builds can do Installation of apps to Sd cards.
One I know for sure is the Gingerbones build, which is a stripped down version of Froyo 2.2.1, but with Gingerbread animations.

this a problem or "bug" with install apps on SD card... any fix ?
hey krazy killa ... install apps on SD work you ??
i have installed you kernel and valentine not super froyo... and no work apps on SD ... help too !!!

[SOLVED] Problem with upgrade

Hi guys,
I have upgraded my Desire to [ROM] Pays-ROM Desire Froyo Sense v1.3 A2SD+ with Addon Packages [25th July 2010], installed a bunch of Apps to the SD Card which is my default install location, then plugged the phone to the USB port on a computer and used it as memory stick, then when I finished all my Apps have disapperead and the icons now have no icon and when I click on them they say the app is no longer installed, I have reboot the phone a couple of times and still no luck, any ideas how to fix this rather than installing everything again and how to I prevent this happening again???
Many thanks
Looks like after about 10-15 minutes all the Apps come back, but now I don't have the option any longer to select where the Apps are installed in the settings, and looks like all the apps I install now are going to the phone memory and not the SD card, any help appreciated, thanks
that's what happens when you use froyo app2sd instead of A2SD+

Ok thanks, now need to research how to get A2SD+ to work, at least I know its a known problem, I have been looking but did not find a clear indication.
Problem solved! Used ROM Manager to partition my SD Card and reloaded the ROM, all working fine now
Thanks for pointing the noob in the right direction!

[Q] Could my SD card be broken?

Recently im getting a lot of random reboots of my phone
I was running the Leedroid 2.2b rom which was fine for ages. I then try installing the 2 latest versions and noticed it would reboot the phone randomly after that.
When i upgrade to a newer ROM , i always wipe first.
I then went back to 2.2b and have noticed that it is rebooting a lot also
could it be a problem with my SD card because I always run the A2SD+ ROMS as i like to have my apps on the Ext 3 partition
Ive tried doing a full format using windows , then did a Partition SD Card in ROM Manager
but it still reboots randomly.
Dunno what to do next

What's a good stable ROM for the Desire?

I've been trying out the MIUI 2.10.12 Jelly Bean v2.7 ROM on my HTC Desire, and while I would like to keep it, because I like the instantly applied themes etc., it's proving to be rather buggy on my Desire. I got it to try to solve the problem of running out of internal memory, but despite trying to apply the dt a2sd via terminal emulator app (and adb shell on the PC), as well as moving apps to SD via Titanium/Links2SD, I'm still getting "out of internal storage space" errors every time I turn around.
So my top priority for a Desire ROM is 1) I need for it to emulate internal memory on the SD card (so I can make internal memory larger), or at least take up little space on internal memory, so that it does not run out quicly.
2) Stability. (MIUI keeps randomly rebooting on various occasions, Google Voice/Search does not work, GO keyboard crashes, etc. MIUI is also a bit sluggish in Settings menus).

I have tried the following and by far they seem to be the most stable ones according to their Android version.
For GingerBread : MildWild 5.0
For ICS: sandvold's roms
For JellyBean : JellyNow
For increasing the internal memory, partition your memory card (I tried EXT 3 but my phone got stuck on boot loop, EXT 2 works like a charm for me) then install the ap2sdx script.
Peace,
Ibn Yusuf
If you like miui, go with miui xj rom, if you like sense, go with cooldroid rom.
If you want 100% stable ROM you have to use something like Oxygen ROM. In case you want JB ROM I'm using vijendrahs' CM10 ROM v2.2 and it seems quite stable. But of course there are some issues...

[Q] Help with data2ext on JT R30 please ?

Hi all, I have just got my first Droid (Desire HD) and I love it - I am an experienced techie (software developer) but have no experience of custom roms etc before reading stuff on this great forum
Anyway here is the situation : The phone is rooted and is running Jellytime R30 and 12.65.60.29U_26.14.04.28_M radio (had to flash this to get the GPS working).
It also has clockworkmod installed.
It has a 32gb SD card.
Now, it is working like an absolute dream and I have installed lots of shiny apps (including lots of paid ones such as copilot). Thing is that they are taking up lots of space on the internal storage. I have been able to move 60% of them to SD using the inbuilt feature but I am now considering moving them all to SD via data2ext (through ROM Manager).
Here are my questions :
1. Will moving all apps to SD give me a performance hit - IE: Does the sd memory (Sandisk HS) read considerably slower than internal?
2. What is the best way to go about it considering I have a collection of apps already installed and split between SD and Internal memory - Should I uninstall ALL apps and then partition the SD and then reinstall them all again ?
Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

Desire with GingerVillain 3.3 A2SD+ not working not enough memory

Hey all,
I wanted to reactivate my old trusty Desire for my girlfriend. It was running GingerVillain 3.3 when I used it, all working good, with a lot of apps.
I did a full wipe from the recovery (CWM) and I gave it a new SD Card (16GB Class 10).
But somehow I am not able to get A2SD+ working. I even flashed GV completely new, ending up with 75 MB available after the first boot, and then a low memory warning after installing google maps vom the play store.
What can I do? The ext3 partion is 1GB big, partitioned with the recovery.
Shall I try another ROM? I liked GV and I know it - and my GF just wants to use maps and whatsapp while hiking.
I am thankful for any ideas!
Cheers
Hey,
I just switched to the latest 4ext Recovery and partitioned the SD Card with it.
I might give the SlimKat ROM a try - but I read somewhere that gapps are not working? I Need at least maps and the Play store. Is whatsapp working with this ROM? And how is the Overall perfrmance of the ROM?
